Reviews for Hotel Regua Douro

Review 1:Were roomy, clean, well located. We travel in the very "Off" season so the hotel was mostly empty so we got a upgraded to a riverside suite which was great and at a special room rate.

Review 2:Right across the street from the train station. Our room was very nice and we had a balcony that overlooked the Douro River. It was just beautiful. The breakfast was very good. We had dinner at the hotel and it was excellent and the price was very reasonable. We liked the hotel so much we tried to extend our visit but the hotel was full. The views from the hotel are breath-taking.

Review 3:Hot water was brown but the staff kindly offered us another room which was fine

Review 4:Excellent location overlooking the river with parking. Romantic package and all meals were great with a view of the Douro

Review 5:There was no fresh bread for my breakfast. I could understand this because I arrived near the end of breakfast time but bread is such a basic item.

Review 6:The room had an amazing view to the river.

Review 7:Like others, this hotel was booked because of close proximity to the train and boat dock. But that is the ONLY reason. The public space of the hotel is depressing, the hallways and lobby ar poorly lit, lobby is furnished with minimum and filthy furniture and area rugs. The hotel room is adequate, we paid extra for the river view with balcony and that made the stay in the room bearable. Room looks superficially clean, we had ants crawling and flyes visiting. Shower spraying and leaking, light bulbs burned out. So sad that a nearby is a dog that must be either neglected or tied up, as it is barking and crying frequently. The staff at the front desk is inattentive and one feels passing by as if we are non visible. This place is overdue for refurbishment and management that cares about the customers and provide quality service. Room Tip: If you have to stay here, be sure to have room on the river side with a balcony or go stay in nearby...

Review 8:If you have to stay here, be sure to have room on the river side with a balcony or go stay in nearby...

Review 9:Service at bar and in restaurant for dinner was extremely poor. We stayed for 2 nights and the 4 main courses we had between us were horrible.

Review 10:Lovely location next to the river Douro. Room had balcony so could watch river traffic.

Review 11:We'd booked dinner, bed and breakfast. The breakfast was good but the dinner was one of the few bad meals we had during our holiday. For a main course, we were only offered two choices: fish or turkey. We chose turkey. The meat consisted of two rubbery slices in a sauce. Our DBB 'deal' included a bottle of wine. We chose red. I don't know if we could have paid more to have an a la carte meal and better wine but if we stayed there again and couldn't do that, we'd dine elsewhere.

Review 12:Great location, next to the Douro, 2 minutes from train station, 5 minutes from river cruises' quay. Very helpful staff, especially at front desk. We'd booked a city view room but asked to upgrade to a river view. Definitely worth the extra 15 euros. We had a room with a balcony, with table and chairs, overlooking the Douro.

Review 13:Was not impressed by the dining room. One dinner just had canned beans, pineapple & beans. Other dinner has mostly imitation crab for the seafood. Breakfast was good.

Review 14:Location is excellent, and view of the Douro wonderful. Also good parking.

Review 15:Location excellent for walking around Regua and very near to train station. We had a river view room with balcony, nice view. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 16:Pool needs some improvements, but was nice and clean. Breakfast could be better. The parking has no access directly to an elevator, need to climb some stairs with luggage is not very nice.

Review 17:Fantastic location, clean and very friendly people. Confortable room.

Review 18:Wifi limited to one device in rooms, gym closed, elevator does not go all the way down to parking area

Review 19:The location close to the station, bridge, and town. Breakfast was excellent. Great off road parking

Review 20:great view of river. Good location, short walk to quay, station, restaurant and bars. Good prices, balcony rooms large and comfortable and good bathroom

Review 21:Reception staff were rather mechanical.

Review 22:We loved the location, easy access to the Train Station & Buses, & the Beautiful landscape. Very good breakfast.

Review 23:A cama de casal é aquela que parece duas camas de solteiro juntas! Eu particularmente não gosto!

Review 24:A vista do hotel é maravilhosa! Quarto e banheiro espaçosos! Hotel super bem localizado!

Review 25:Interior generally a little dated particularly the common areas. Snack bar not up to scratch for an hotel of this type. Regua more built up than imagined and other quieter, nicer places along the river ie. Pinhao more intimate and pleasant.

Review 26:Good location overlooking Douro from front rooms. Balcony to enjoy the views.

Review 27:Front desk staff not helpful or friendly. Ignored guests whilst all attending to one query, rather than dealing with many guests at the same time.

Review 28:Great restaurant, good menu and helpful and friendly staff. Location overlooking the river.

Review 29:The interior of the hotel is very old. Red carpet on the floor, few lights in the corridor...not very pleasant. Swimming pool closed whereas it was 30 degrees outside and we were in May.

Review 30:The breakfast was good with quite a lot of choice especially in the sugary side.

Review 31:One rude breakfast staffer, very weak Internet, female wait staff challenged me to produce room key in serving line ;tried to berate me for dropping a little fruit juice on serving table, would have thought me ax murderer

Review 32:Location,great free breakfast

Review 33:difficulty getting luggage from car park ( suggest park out front of hotel, unload luggage and then use hotel carpark)

Review 34:We have used this hotel before when the weather was better in those circumstances the location is excellent for exploring Douro valley

Review 35:Another review I read "the staff could smile a bit more and be happy that I'm a guest at their hotel" quite fits it... The waiters at dinner were completely stiff, not very attentive and charged us the bread, though we hadn't touched it... We were deceived about the breakfast which was not included but cost 12€ extra. The sauna and spa area is closed during winter (till April), which doesn't really make any sense...

Review 36:Located right next to the train station with great views on the River Douro. Comfortable room. Beautiful entrance hall.

Review 37:Restaurant for dinner had no atmosphere and the food probably the worst in two weeks stay in Portugal. Outside does not look apealing from road .. the flags for example are filthy ? Staff could smile a little more.

Review 38:Room good size, clean, nice view, plenty of hot water/

Review 39:Arrived by train and was wowed by this hotel, I booked a river view with balcony and was blown away with the views I must say this Hotel is a gem. Rooms are well fitted out and comfortable, I wished I’d booked for more than one day

Review 40:- A bit of renovation might be needed: I used the stairs to climb to my room and thus noticed that the walls in the staircases have suffered water damages.

Review 41:Nice helpful staff (especially thank you Carmen) at the reception, the room was big and comfortable, the proper writing desk was a big plus, the breakfast was sufficient. The view to the Douro river from the lounge and the breakfast room is suberb. A long pedestrian path lingers along the river front next to the hotel.

Review 42:The hotel needs renovarion. The breakfast was not good. The orange juice was not mad of fresh oranges.

Review 43:We liked the location because it was close to the boat peer.

Review 49:Great location on the river. Helpful reception staff. Good parking facilities. An older good quality hotel but everything quite serviceable.

Review 50:Not a big deal, but the pool is pretty cold as well as the jacuzzi. Okay on a hot day.

Review 51:Great location, nice views, easy free parking, across from train station and next to boat dock, helpful staff.

Review 52:No breakfast included .wifi not working until early hours of morning ...

Review 53:View from room Bathroom was good ,bed excellent ... Room was clean and huge ..parking was excellent .
