Reviews for Hotel Playa La Media Luna
Review 1:Stupid charge! They use a deposit of money or charge to the credit card before to stay in the hotel, $150. I considered that ridiculous because in others hotels with more stars is not a requirement the deposit of money, open voucher is ok. One of the girl in the reception was disgusting, hateful and with evil faces with me and my wife.
Review 2:I like the view to the ocean, the room was clean and the hotel is a good place to sleep.
Review 3:No pool bar or restaurants. No laundry services. Staff wasn't too friendly or helpful ( (Couldn't even get a golf cart for us, even though they claim to have). The beach had a large amount of seaweed....
Review 4:Great location, quiet but close to the center. The room was nice and comfortable. Good wifi connection.
Review 5:Inconsistent, unreliable Internet service in my room (Wi-Fi signal was generally OK in the lobby). Breakfasts were repetitious and not very interesting. Sterile atmosphere in the dining area, where staff did not interact with guests (language barrier).
Review 6:Outstanding location, panoramic views of the ocean. For those who love nature, very relaxing. Small-scale hotel, relatively quiet (except for some noisy, inconsiderate guests). Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurants, services and main section of Playa Norte are just a short walk away.
Review 7:The staff is unfriendly and rude It is expensive for what you have The breakfast is unceptable
Review 8:The View from the room is amazing The swimming pool is beautiful It is a quiet hotel The location is perfect : really close the beautiful beach Playa deal Norte
Review 9:You can't really swim in the water here because the beach is so rocky and the waves very large much of teh time. You almost need to use a golf cart to get to North Beach and teh restaurants, although many walk it. The plumbing wasn't very good and they ask you not to flush toilet paper. They also had a tv that was less than 19", and only 2 stations in English. Room key is not electronic. Did not have a blow dryer. No elevator.
Review 10:It is located on the North side, close to restaurants. It has a very quant, bed & breakfast type of feeling. It has a beautiful view of the ocean with a hammock and pretty pool. The bathroom has nice tile floors. They provide towels daily, have a coffeemaker in the room, and a decent size fridge, as well as continental breakfast. They also had water bottle machines on each floor, and provide ice in a pitcher at the front desk. They have lots of drawers and a safe deposit box.
Review 11:The staff was not that friendly. The sink of our room should have been cleaned more thoroughly to get the old spots away.
Review 12:The view from our terrace was great.
Review 13:The staff were really unhelpful, most things we asked were too much trouble. Considering it was not a budget option the facilities were minimal- pool bar? What pool bar?!
Review 14:The location - nice secluded beach
Review 15:Wonderful out of the way location. Snorkeling in cove beautiful layout of rooms to pool to beach breakfast was great; coffee was strong enough Staff very helpful and accommodating.
Review 16:Breakfast is very poor (especially for the price), no wi-fi in the rooms (only in the lobby).
Review 17:The ocean is right there and the pool is just outside the rooms, view was amazing, 2 minutes walk from the restaurants street. Also, turn left by the ocean and walk for 5 minutes to reach a very cool beach with a restaurant and live shows,
Review 18:Same as prevvious rewiws, Breafast is limitied, Internet is dropping out frequently, and there was no serving at the pool area.
Review 19:The location of this hotell is stunning, a perfect view and quiet. Personell was friendly and helpful.
Review 20:We were going to rent a golf cart from the hotel and enquired about this at check in. We weren't given the correct information regarding the rental (basically needed to book in advance as the carts are delivered to the hotel for guest use) and were told there wasn't any available the next day when we wanted to head out on an adventure. Not a big deal, easy to find another, just a bit of a pain.
Review 21:Location was fantastic. Room was amazing. Pool was gorgeous.
Review 22:The crew was not nice enough. They are too strike about the towels they won't ever give you an extra one. Notice you will pay tax about 20% on the price of the hotel in booking and will not get it back in the airport!!!
Review 23:Beautiful pool and beach very quete and peacefull great location
Review 24:This has the credentials to be a really great hotel. Just needs a lick of paint and dash of enthusiasm.... and a major rethink on the breakfast!
Review 25:Fantastic location on a very pretty rocky beach, just round the corner from the along sandy beach. The swimming pool overlooks the beach and sea.
Review 26:Breakfast Accountability It's ugly On the front desk you don't have all the time team The cleaning of the room Breakfast including breads, butter, jam, cereal, coffee, fruit, cake An around have ants
Review 27:Just the pool view The balcony in the room
Review 28:the beach right out front isn't really swimable due to waves rocks and seaweed, but Playa Norte is about a 10 minute walk. it's worth it for the view and ocean wave sound at night though. We didn't eat the breakfast.. didn't look good, silly that we had to wear a bracelet for a 3$ breakfast. weird smell in breakfast room. the small street it's on is not well lit at night so we took a taxi back after dark
Review 29:breathtaking views, beautiful pool overlooking the ocean, very comfortable and clean, good air con, excellet balcony with privacy and hammock, well decorated/designed, building has charm, very short walk to shops/restaurants, great value
Review 30:Breakfast was terrible! The aircon unit was so noisy we were kept up all night. The wifi kept going on and off.
Review 31:Pool was nice, overlooking the beach. Staff were helpful and friendly. Location was good.
Review 32:Pool area lounge chairs were often covered in bird and iguana poop that were never cleaned and thus went unused. In a week, we saw the floor hosed down, but the seats went untouched, unwiped. Pool bar opened from time to time intermittently. WiFi was broken most of the time and worked only a few minutes at a time. Had to wear a entrance bracelet for a terrible breakfast that no one wanted. Room staff and breakfast staff were unfriendly and played games on their phones while toast and orange juice sat empty. Would stay elsewhere in the future.
Review 33:Pool, balconies and ocean views were nice. Front desk and pool bar attendant were friendly. Rooms and bathrooms were nice and clean.
Review 34:WiFi was tempermental for some of us, but it didn't matter too much since we were there to get away. Beds are for 4, and then there was a pullout couch-- not as comfy as the beds, but we made do. Overall, not much not to like about this place!
Review 35:The location was great. Our group of friends had a bungalow unit. The beachfront location was quiet, and just around the corner from Playa Norte-- the best beach on the island-- either walking along the sand or streets. opening the sliding glass door to the sand and the sound of the ocean was wonderful --and made it super easy to be up for sunrise. We also enjoyed having access to a kitchen for breakfasts and snacks. They also included bottled potable water for our use during our stay which we didn't expect, and was greatly appreciated. we were happy to find a place that fit all 5 of us so we didn't have to split up.
Review 36:We took the suite, it had great view to the private beach, amazing. Location was great near everything, and the people were all very nice! One of the places we visited during our honey moon!
Review 37:Hotel was clean, right by the beach, lovely pool, a little away from the main drag which was good as it meant it was quiet and peaceful in the hotel. Staff were friendly enough and wifi worked perfectly, I would return to this hotel.
Review 38:Staff isn't really there most of the times(pool bar not working 99% of the time), room are not clean, bathroom floor is a disaster. Its a 3 star hotel which costs like 4 star hotel
Review 39:Location is great for couples in honeymoon looking for a very quiet place.
Review 40:The hotel is tucked away from the street. The area in front of the hotel is very run down so you cant really tell a whole lot about the hotel until you get inside. The hotel is older and worn, but overall is a very nice place to stay.
Review 41:The back of the hotel faces the east and is absolutely beautiful! I could lay in the bed and see the sun rise every morning. Very nice lounging area. Very quiet area. Will definitely stay here again!
Review 42:Entrance appears nice with deco and ambiance music, but staff doesn't seem to be too happy about your arrival. TOTAL lack of customer service/hospitality attitude. Room is big enough but not really clean. I don't mean towls, sheets, etc...But from the ceiling were 'duststrings' and webs hanging everywhere. The glass door in shower and mirror could have used a proper wipe and the bedside table and night lamps were gross: dusty and sticky... The continental breakfast was not too bad, toast, fruits, flakes, jam and butter and peanut butter, coffee & tea...(not more worth than 3$ though). However, have guests drink out of plastic white cups and not cleaning the tables after 1. use and prepare for next guest to eat is just not right.
Review 43:location and infrastructur are really nice. free wifi, ceiling fan and AC, pool and pool beds, hammock on your balcony! however this place totally lacks some TLC and atmosphere. being a hotel manager myself I know how much more you could make of it with just a little more effort AND LOVE.
Review 44:I stayed at one of the bungalows alone, it was great, but its at least for an entire family!
Review 45:Land scape is wonderful! Staff is very Kind! Honey mooners will enjoy the same as stressful people!
Review 46:Secluded, quiet, and a very good value! Rough rocky beach with lots of breeze was perfect for the last two days of our week-long trip. Found lots of shells and critters and enjoyed break from high-traffic beach life.
Review 47:Poor Management, run down rooms and facilities. We had booked a king room through Booking.com and were given a standard (two double beds pushed together) and told we were actually in a king. The manager (daughter of the owner and couldn't care less) refused to meet with us for two days although we regularly asked for her at the front desk and saw her in the lobby (etc.). Disappointed, we finally cancelled our booking and left for another hotel.
Review 48:The location is unbeatable.
Review 49:Bathroom not as clean as I'd hoped. Isolated area near a construction site. Room was dark and a bit drab.
Review 50:The view was nice and great for watching sunrise.
Review 51:the rooms are a little bit old, but it doesn't really matter. some of the staff were not very friendly, while others where much more friendly. wifi didn't work at rooms. at the lobby it worked very slow.
Review 52:The rooms are very beautiful, the balcony is great, the pool is very beautiful and the beach+pool view from the room is amazing. The hotel has its beach for the guests, clean and very nice. The location is very good, 2 minutes walk from the main beach, 2 minutes walk from the main street.
Review 53:You cannot beat the location. Close to the center of town but right on the beach, amazing wildlife in the rocks on the beach! Incredible view! I think we got lucky. Once there, we saw the alternatives and Media Luna fit what we wanted exactly. Quiet, right on the beach, clean, friendly, comfortable.
Review 54:Excellent location on a little cove beach. Great price for the view! The room was average but had a fridge, safe, comfy beds and hot shower. All you need on the island! Plus a hammock on the porch. Included a decent continental breakfast. Wier area of town but very close to hidalgo and playa Norte.
Review 55:I love small hotels and this one did not disappoint. Perfect location - a few hundred metres from Playa Norte, all hotel rooms overlook the sea and the pool. Natural beach and very quiet. Am planning on coming back next year!
Review 56:We loved everything about our experience.
Review 57:Everyone was so friendly. The grounds were kept impeccably clean. Our room was beautiful and the view was stunning.
Review 58:No swimming from the hotel beach front, but great swimming beaches very close to the hotel.
Review 59:Right on the beach. Large, beach facing balcony with a hammock. Room and public areas very clean. Located in town, but had a very secluded feeling.
Review 60:No hot water in the kitchen. Used water from the bathroom wash dishes.no big deal.
Review 61:We stayed in the bungalow for two days. Awesome view from our living area. We ate breakfast on the back porch and enjoyed the ocean waves and the view was spectatular. We rented a golf cart one day in town for 45 dollars 24 hrs. We used the cart to get us back to the ferry the next day. Wifi was good in the lobby. Pool was nice and cold in the mid morning. We bought groceries and cooked all our meals. Bring small salt pepper along with other spices you might need. We couldn't find salt or pepper at the grocery store. Small adjustments. Waking up the wonderful view was wonderful.
Review 62:We stayed in the apartment which was good as we had our own kitchen and lounge area. Also there was a terrace with direct access to the beach which was great!
Review 63:Wifi wasn't great, but it meant that I had to spend more time watching the sea and relaxing, so maybe not such a bad thing!
Review 64:Location: far enough away from the bustle, but still very close to everything. Hotel is small and easy to meet people, but never feels crowded. Staff was polite and friendly. Free refills on bottled water on 2nd and 3rd floor. Good service. Clean, simple rooms. It's not a sterilized American-style hotel, so it's quirky - if you want predictable, go somewhere else, but we found it to be perfect!
Review 65:The rooms were quite dirty and a little bit crusty. The breakfast was pretty poor (ants crawling everywhere and not very hygienic!). Wifi was very weak in rooms.
Review 66:Private beach and pool. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Review 67:Very poor included breakfast. To windy to stay at the hotels beach.
Review 68:Beautiful view and really good location, large rooms. Clean and comfy beds. The staff was helpful aswell.
Review 69:Breakfast was awful. I've stayed in hostels that have provided a better breakfast. The staff don't appear very happy or friendly, perhaps reflects the attitude of management.
Review 70:Pool, room and location. The hotel has a lot of potential, but unfortunately the negatives did put a dampener on our stay.
Review 71:Terrible service from the concierge desk. Doesn't make you feel welcome. The same with the owner. Terrible breakfast. Room very gloomy. Would never recommend it or stay here again.
Review 72:Nice view from the room.
Review 73:Very - very poor breakfast. Unfriendly staff. The hotel's policy is thatthe main doors are closed at 23:00, and afterwards there is supposed to be a doorman who opens the door for the hotel's guests. We came back one night around midnight and had to wait around half an hour untill there was someone around to open the door. That was just rude, especially considering the fact that the hotel declares that it has a 24 hours reception service. Will never come back.
Review 74:Breakfast
Review 75:For the price the hotel is great and the view is outstanding but the breakfast which was included was just toast and cereal. Nevertheless I would stay there again.
Review 76:We loved the continental breakfast . With coffee, cereal ,juice, fresh fruit, microwave . The location was nicely secluded on the beach with a beautiful pool, I will stay there again!
Review 77:Breakfast was minimalistic. The staff was ok but nothing more.
Review 78:The location!!! 7 minutes walk from the center but as long as you want a beautifull peacefull place, this is the hotel to go to
Review 79:The balcony was excellent overlooking the pool and the sea. A 5 min walk to Playa Norte, and a 5 min walk to the Main Street for restaurants and shopping. Peaceful place and a fair price.
Review 80:Breakfast is very sparse, lazy staff, this dining room did not stop to talk to her or see a TV spot for people to eat. The meal consisted of bread and jam. Staff speaks very little English but knows not get to say anything. There is a TV room and jump Multi-channel.
Review 81:We got a room with an exit to the pool, King Room. Room very nice, large and clean his position about eight minutes walk from the center
Review 82:I had been travelling for 3 weeks around different parts of the country and had stayed in about 10 different hotels across different cities. My general observation was that the staff did not seem happy in providing catering and hospitality services in the more touristy Yucatan area of Mexico!!! Much less bothered, not much information, just a lower level of customer service than the other places I had visited in Mexico. Maybe more to do with training and management. Don't know.
Review 83:The views from the balcony were amazing.
Review 84:The poor breakfast, internal policy obliges you to pay two first nights in cash.
Review 85:the hotel is just magical with the sort of infinity pool and ist great Location away from the crowd but still pretty much central to everything.
Review 86:The breakfast is very basic, just sweet things, no proteins or salty choice available.
Review 87:The hotel has its own little private sand beach in between the rocks on this side of the island and also the pool is nicely overlooking the sea. The rooms are in good condition, very well equiped and keep spotless clean. The center of the town and Playa Norte are just 5 minutes walking away. Beachtowls are available and the staff is very friendly.
Review 88:We have absolutely nothing negative to say.
Review 89:This property was the highlight of our ten days of travel in the Maya Riviera. Lovely, calm quiet property - exactly what we had been looking for. Centrally located, beautiful view and wonderful owners and staff.
Review 90:WiFi not the best in the room
Review 91:Best location, not very close to the center but a private beach! Perfect! overall great hotel
Review 92:Dark and small rooms---when there is bad weather and you can't get out--can't easily get to restaurants/dinner
Review 93:Fairly close to restaurants
Review 94:Noisey air-conditioning. No ice available. Minimum breakfast offered.
Review 95:Good location
Review 96:Not enough food at breakfast
Review 97:Nice and quiet hotel, free wi fi
Review 98:Can't have anyone back to the hotel after 10pm. Should make that midnight.
Review 99:Fantastic hotel!
Review 100:Would like microwave in room and possibly a bigger selection for breakfast
Review 101:Location is fantastic, hidden away but next to everything.
Review 102:Position was great very clean
Review 103:The location is perfect because it's really close to the "main" beach, but not right on it, so it's quiet and peaceful.
Review 104:The pool and beach were awesome, great view
Review 105:Excellent location, beautiful rooms and a free breakfast! I wont stay anywhere else! Next time i want a jacuzzi room!
Review 106:No wifi in the rooms. The toilets clog easily. Our door knob just fell out.
Review 107:The pool area is nice.
Review 108:Smelly rooms Poor breakfast
Review 109:Beautiful beach
Review 110:Fantastic staff and location.
Review 111:The breakfast was a bit ordinary, limited in choice.
Review 112:The location is absolute perfection, right on the beach front, with a lovely pool overlooking.
Review 113:No coffee in room
Review 114:Pool, jacuzzi on terrace
Review 115:The wifi did not work the entire trip on the property.
Review 116:The location was perfect!
Review 117:The beach was too rough for swimming and too windy
Review 118:I liked the quaintness and ambience of this location
Review 119:Nothing
Review 120:Quit place with a nice pool and a beautiful ocean view.
Review 121:The staff is horible! Wifi didnt work well for us at all. the room was old and the tv didnt work. breckfrst was very poor
Review 122:the location.
Review 123:Location of the hotel is amazing. Very friendly and helpful staff. Amazing view!!
Review 124:Extremely large room and Balcony, Free wine and snacks first evening was a big surprise as well as our own huge jacuzz.
Review 125:Perfect room with porch and Jacuzzi. Overlooking beach and pool.Great location hidden but close to Av Juarez and North Beach.
Review 126:The staff was extremely unhelpful, and the bathroom was not clean.
Review 127:Beautiful location, great pool, excellent facilities... I'll be back next year!
Review 128:Out of a couple of hotels we stayed at on isla mujeres this was the best one. Better breakfast, nicer staff, great pool with view of the sea.
