Reviews for Silver Spade Motel/Hotel
Review 1:Local traffic noise until 10:30. Room was tucked away in a "grotto" (where two building wings join) and provided limited space. Also because of the joining of the "wings" parking close to the room was difficult. Very slow WiFi. Probably wouldn't stay again.
Review 2:Location was good. Close to the main street and clubs. Staff cheerful and helpful.
Review 3:Nothing really, front garden/parking area could do with a few plants maybe, and also the rooms (my room at least) lack a bedside table. Otherwise faultless.
Review 4:Excellent beds and bathrooms, very kind and friendly staff. Great location right near the town centre.
Review 5:Looks can be deceiving, it was clean, quite and cheap. This fitted what we needed for the night to break up a long drive. Easy walk to a few places for diner. All up, very happy.
Review 6:Bathroom very cold and no heating.
Review 7:Largest room on our whole trip. Facilities a little tired but clean and comfortable. Good sized shower and lovely hot water.
Review 8:External appearance not as expected from website, however, after inspection was acceptable. Demolition of associated hotel (development awaiting council approval) leaves openness to possible passing traffic noise.
Review 9:Recently refreshed and modernised bathroom.
Review 10:Bed hard. Kettle dirty. Shower attrocious. Bad drain smell. Shift workers noise extremely early. All acceptable for a budget cost but was $150 a night. We were booked for three nights but left early because it was bad.
Review 11:Reasonably clean
Review 12:The friendliness of the owners/staff....we were made very welcome and comfortable. Nothing was a trouble to them. It was just like coming home each night. Would not contemplate staying anywhere else on our next and subsequent visits.
Review 13:Pretty curtains that don't quite close. Street noise ( V8 hoons and pedestrian light beeps.) ; but Hey! that's the price for a central location :-) No Microwave ( they want a $5 fee).
Review 14:Great location to explore the town centre by foot. VERY nice renovation of the bathroom. Free Wi-Fi that works.
Review 15:Very noisy water pipes. Tv too small for distance from bed. Shower curtain instead of door. No kitchen sink, had to use bathroom vanity. No bedside table.
Review 16:Location in town.
Review 17:Traffic can be a bit noisy at night
Review 18:So close to town, clubs and restaurants. The Demo Club across the road is open for breakfast, lunch & dinner every day.
Review 19:No microwave in room, however one can be rented from reception
Review 20:Lovely, helpful and friendly staff. Close to the main street of Broken Hill with easy walk to shops, clubs and eateries.
Review 21:Very put off initially by the facade. Another property on the block was demolished and it gave the motel an undeservedly skid row look. don't be fazed, it isn't fancy but it's a good stay.
Review 22:Good sized rooms, great location, good price, absolutely lovely owner. Surprisingly quiet.
Review 23:Bathroom..aircon didnt work properly....microwave extra charge

Review 55:Friendly Staff Comfortable Bed Clean Room Well Appointed Bathroom
Review 56:Exterior of buildings needs an update
Review 57:Closeness to CBD - and it was quiet
Review 58:It is obviously an old motel, but still well looked after. The ad-material is very misleading with glorious flowers and an inviting pool. The pool has been removed and, with it, the flowers.
Review 59:Jenny the hostess very welcoming and helpful.
Review 60:Very friendly and helpful welcome. Was offered the family room as its in the corner and is the quietest room which I had requested in the booking. Great bed and pillows, plenty of blankets and a great shower. Would definitely recommend and stay again, although not sure what the standard room is like, but I'm sure as good.
Review 61:Located on an intersection very noisy. No fly screens Hasn't been updated for a very long time. Noisy fridge. Looks like there is some renovations going on in carpark area
Review 62:Shower toilet area tiny. There wasn't a place to keep soap, towels and cloths in the bathroom. Sink was inside the room not in the bathroom. No microwave.
Review 63:Good location close to the shops
Review 64:Friendly efficient staff with personalised service. Taxi to the airport was organised and checked that it arrived on time. Close to the railway station and eating places. Would stay there next visit.
Review 65:IT WAS HOT WEATHER BUT NONE OF US COULD SLEEP AS AIR CON UNITS BARELY WORKED AND WERE LOCATED IN AN ALCOVE. THE ROOM GENERALLY STAYED UNBEARABLY HOT.
Review 66:FRIENDLY STAFF
Review 67:I think overall for the price that a little noise on weekend nights is expected. It happens everywhere. Nothing to complain about!
Review 68:Perfect location. Jenny was fabulous, very friendly, very helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable.
Review 69:Very friendly service - spacious room and very clean. Needed somewhere to stay at short notice on a work trip and this was perfect. Walking distance to Main Street. Would certainly stay again (preferred it to the ibis across the road).
Review 70:The linens were an odd mix of home and commercial styles, for example, one of the pillows in our room had a child's theme sheet set case, while the other pillows had plain white commercial hotel cases.
Review 71:Good location and friendly helpful staff.
Review 72:No drinking water in fridge
Review 73:A comfortable, clean, reasonably priced motel, although starting to show its age a little. Were very grateful we were allowed into our room early. Would stay here again.
Review 74:Generally the room and bathroom was furnished with worn/marked furniture. There was a gap under the door which made it rather noisy.
Review 75:Closeness to centre of Broken Hill and Railway Station and Information Centre.
Review 76:Premises in need of renovation.Should be better when re-building program is completed.
Review 77:Friendly and helpful staff. Handy location Free wi-fi available
Review 78:Motel was clean. Excellent bedding. Motel was centrally located in middle of town. We were given a complimentart breakfast as our train journey was delayed and we arrived at 1.30am.
Review 79:A little noise from the road which could be reduced by boundary vegetation but generally OK
Review 80:Simple, basic accommodation. Clean with friendly staff and a good location.
Review 81:Carpets were not particularly clean. I found the price when compared to other similar motels a little on the higher side. Right at traffic lights which made it a bit noisy at times..
Review 82:Good size bed, plenty of hot water and very close to the main clubs in town. Coffee making and toaster were appreciated. Reverse cycle heater was very handy as nights and mornings were cold.
Review 83:The room heating was on when I arrived late at night -- very thoughtful. Simple, clean and very close to everything...bus and train stations, clubs, shops.
Review 84:No restaurant/room service but plenty of great placed to eat withinseconds walk/ Loved the club down the road such good value
Review 85:Staff - easy going and friendly. I would go back just to see them again.
Review 86:Can be a little noisy at night as it's on the main street, and the hotel section, which would protect the motel units from the street noise, has been demolished pending a rebuild. WiFi signal was very weak (or non-existent) in the room.
Review 87:Well positioned and priced, friendly staff, comfortable and clean room.
Review 88:the hotel had been demolited a week before in front of the motel so pretty bad views plus no phone in room due to the demolition
Review 89:distance from railway station and bus depot and shops clubs
Review 90:I can't fault anything - except the soap for the shower. Bring your own. It is generic hotel kind of soap and ok for an emergency, but will dry out your skin and feel yuck. This doesn't reflect on the quality of the hotel in any way, just a tip.
Review 91:Ruth & Wayne are lovely, we felt so welcome. Our trip was spontaneous and we had no idea what to expect. The room was simple, budget-style, clean and comfortable. The air conditioning made the room so cold and comfortable, I loved it. Just a short stroll down to The Palace Hotel from Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Central location on the main street of Broken Hill. You could easily walk to all places in the main part of town or a quick drive to the museum and restaurant overlooking the town. Overall a very pleasant stay, simple and cheerful. Thank you Ruth & Wayne.
Review 92:The hotel was having some unexpected repairs when we arrived. A hotel staff person met us, informed us that they had bookeed us into another motel nearby and even assisted with getting our luggage there. Great service, thank you.
Review 93:Very loud group of gentlemen returning from pub late at night andcontinuing to 'party' loudly!
Review 94:The manager was very helpful and arranged for a very early book-in forme, contacting me directly when the room was available.
Review 95:Extremely noisy air conditioner. Place is old and tired. Overdue for a refresh.
Review 96:Economical. Very basic but clean and comfortable.
Review 97:Very helpful staff made bookings for dinner for us & for a show.
Review 98:Great shower and comfortable bed
Review 99:friendly staff and central location
Review 100:Advertised as a Hotel/Motel. This is misleading. The licenced hotel was torn down nearly 12 months ago and has not been replaced.
Review 101:People smoking and drinking outside of rooms, not a good impression on arrival
Review 102:Was upgraded to a larger room, thankful for that, clean
Review 103:Rundown appearance
