Reviews for BEST WESTERN Hobart
Review 1:Wi-Fi access was not stable in my room. Considering the facilities overall, the hotels in Hobart are in general relatively expensive, in my view.
Review 2:Not particular thing.
Review 3:Booked and paid ,quite a bit may I add, way in advance to get a balcony room, did not happen. Staff at front desk did not explain any amenities of hotel when checking in. Apparently you are expected to read handbook in room, lucky I did. They forgot to activate room card , so when I tried to open my room could not enter , then had to lug all my bags downstairs again to let them know as no internal phone numbers printed anywhere.Whilst these are small inconveniences it was not like front desk was busy on check in. I stayed here as it was the hotel for marathon shuttle which was great. Bathrooms really need an upgrade, but water was nice and hot.
Review 4:Fairly central to CBD,close to market and waterfront. Rooms kept very clean. Would stay again, hoping for a little better customer service next time.
Review 5:Great location close to the centre of the city but quiet at night. Could walk to the Salamanca markets and the Bathurst Street Farmers markets easily.
Review 6:Beautiful large room sensational views....nice and quiet but nice short walking distance to anything you want.....top of the hill with amazing espy of beautiful Launceston
Review 7:The room was not as described, we booked a King Balcony room, it did have a king bed but no balcony, it opened onto a terrace that was shared by multiple other rooms, so we had to keep the curtains closed the whole time for privacy. The room was also supposed to have a work desk, it didn't! The meals were expensive and buffet breakfast was almost not edible, cold bacon, congealed eggs - overall it was awful and we heard many other guests make the same comments. We paid twice the price for our room here compared to fantastic accommodation we had in Launceston and other parts of Tasmania. We expected Hobart would be more expensive but this poor room, no privacy and food that couldn't be eaten made this a horrible place to stay.
Review 8:When we first arrived, we had great service from the receptionist whose name was Emma. She was delightful and very helpful. It was all downhill from there unfortunately.
Review 9:Booked a twin room but when my friend and me arrived, we've been allocated to a king room because they told us there was no twin room available. It made me very uncomfortable to share a king bed with my friend. The other day they told us they could allocate us to a twin room but needed us to pay a surcharge for that which turned out to be 200 dollars. Very DISAPPOINTED!
Review 10:Nothing
Review 11:The cleaning staff knocking on the door on the day of departure, well before leaving time, asking for us to leave door open on our departure. A card on a bed could have been better practice for this purpose
Review 12:Only a few blocks from Salamanca and the docks. Clean room with everything you would expect in this type of accommodation. The restaurant served delicious meals and room service was prompt.
Review 13:Room was very smelly and the bathroom small for 3 people. Staff would not give us more keys even though there was 6 of us in 2 rooms. They had no parking for our cars
Review 14:Close to the Taste and waterfront
Review 15:Minor points, however, the fitness room was supposedly available 24 hrs but the door was locked one morning also the bike saddle height adjustment mechanism didn't work. A pouring jug to fill the electric kettle would have been helpful because the kettle won't fit under the tap.
Review 16:Exceptionally comfortable bed, very friendly and helpful staff, coffee pod machine in room.
Review 17:Either the bed or the pillow was a little uncomfortable for me. Had a bit of a sore neck for a day, but my partner seemed fine with the bed though.
Review 18:The location and the staff were excellent. Great value for money. Will stay here again if we're staying in Hobart next time we visit Tasmania.
Review 19:One male bar staff didn't convey a good atmosphere. 'Happy Hour' nibbles were just pieces of pizza. 2nd floor was noisy late at night Heavily stained carpet (although clean - needs replacing)
Review 20:Friendliness and helpfulness of most staff. Room Service.
Review 21:Was not aware of the hill to climb from Central Hobart. But in saying that I did not realise that Hobart was a hilly city. It was not enough if a negative to curb my enjoyment if this very beautiful city.
Review 22:The proximity to Central Hobart.
Review 23:Basic but clean, pretty weak fitness center but luckily weather was nice enough I didn't need it
Review 24:Great location, easy walk to shopping areas, a bit further to Salamanca Market and bay front, straight down Bathurst to Queen's Domain parks, really comfortable beds, quiet (except for Saturday night Cricket fans/tourists staying at hotel...)
Review 25:Hotel breakfast is not good value: go to one of the cute cafes close by (e.g. Small Fry) instead.
Review 26:Location is fine, bed was comfortable, room was clean.
Review 27:I was disappointed with the cleanliness of our room. The first thing I found was a dirty glass. My towel was stained and worn. Bedside table wasn't cleaned properly. Breakfast menu was very boring!
Review 28:Loved the location for shopping, the markets. Both Salamanca and the farmers market close by.
Review 29:The let down was the out dated and unappealing bathroom. Expected a bit better for the price in comparison to recent stays at Country Club Casino and other Hobart hotels when we travel for business.
Review 30:The hotel reception area and dining/bar area is modern and attractive. Staff are very inviting and friendly. The hotel is well presented however room was a little small. Enjoyed the balcony. Very clean hotel and smelt fresh. Good secure off street parking. Staff the highlight getting AAA+
Review 31:small things - EXTREMELY thin toilet paper!! no safe in room toilet continually running - would save water if it were fixed
Review 32:plenty of space in room excellent shower
Review 33:Wifi was not working properly most of the time. Hairdryer also broke down. There was no clear instruction how to call the reception or housekeeping for help. Reception was closed after 10pm and early morning, making it a bit cumbersome to look for service or early check-out.
Review 34:Staff were generally quite helpful and willing to go the extra mile to help.
Review 35:Found it a bit noisy must have thin walls.Could hear people showering, toilet plus wardrobe being slammed shut.Paying for coffee if you did not like what was offered for breakfast after you have already paid for breakfast.Plus paying for parking, not like this at most places.
Review 36:Staff friendly restaurant good bed comfortable overall it was good.
Review 37:Staff were really friendly and helpful, location was excellent (Hobart isn't really that big), we got a rollaway bed in our room for our teenage son but it didn't feel too cramped, $15 breakfast on Sunday was good value.
Review 38:I paid for a balcony suite and didnt get it when i brought it up with staff the claimed there is nothing they could do, no reimbursement nothing and for thier prices you could stay anywhere in hobart
Review 39:Room service steak was horrible and smelt off. No view at all and staff did not follow up my request for an upgrade. Bathroom tiles had black mould. Door lock was broken.
Review 40:The bed was comfy and first night room service Pizza was nice
Review 41:The fact that i booked online with booking.com and when i arrived the room wasn't avaliable. The staff could only offer me a twin single room at normal rates and were not willing to do anything else other than a free breakfast that i would not have been able to use.
Review 42:Location
Review 43:Bathroom had some mould
Review 44:Convenient location within Hobart CBD / Enjoyed our meals at embers restaurant / Onsite parking at a reasonable cost / Friendly staff / Free WiFi (stable connection)
Review 45:Not enough coffee tea facilities kettle could not fit under bathroom tap. No biscuits bar fridge food prices way to expensive could buy at supermarket half the price.
Review 46:Best Western hotels seem to only give one shampoo/conditioner so you have to ask for extra for the second person.
Review 47:Great position, close to the shops. Excellent hotel, great restaurant. The room was very modern and extremely clean. The king bed was so comfortable. Undercover parking on the Lower Ground. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Review 48:There was a lot of noise from the street - very bad soundproofing. No desk in the room when there was meant to be. Only seating area was uncomfortable. On Monday night there was a very loud fight on our level at 4am with terrible language, punching & door slamming.
Review 49:Good location and some parts of the room were nice. Staff were helpful & friendly.
Review 50:Minibar staff person barging into our room after knocking once. Pillows were so uncomfortable to sleep on, we used the couch cushions instead!
Review 51:We were upgraded due to a booking error. The tv size and spa were good.
Review 52:Even though refurbished it felt old. Rooms stuffy, whilst every little extra had a price, and "no freebies" ( eg papers)
Review 53:It was clean , location ok
Review 54:Bath unusable as the diverter was stuck. Reported this and the guy came sprayed with WD40, but it still stuck. The vanity basin was cracked, The bath towels were small, The toilet paper was very thin - and tore the wrong way, The tissues were small and thin, and in a plain (unknown brand) cardboard box, Broken hook on bathroom door - the bathroom door was narrow, only 62cm wide. The toilet cistern was very old, big, single flush and slow to fill, The room ceiling was pebble-dashed concrete, The little balcony was bear concrete. None of these should happen in a four star establishment.
Review 55:Food in restaurant was fine
Review 56:Low quality of breakfast, lengthy time it took to check out, noise levels on first floor (sounded like we were sleeping on top of a generator).
Review 57:Central location, friendly staff.
Review 58:The pillows were very fat and firm, for me it meant a bit of a stiff neck. Also breakfast was way over priced.
Review 59:The mattress was very comfortable, easy walk to many amenities
Review 60:Location very close to most things of interest car parking is secure.Close to CBD.Room was very comfortable and clean.Restaurant menu was very diversified
Review 61:The room was clean and comfortable but was starting to look a little dated. Nothing terrible but curtains were hard to close completely and bath/shower had no safety rails and had potential for slipping.
Review 62:Staff were fantastic & always helpful. Beds were very comfortable.
Review 63:Very friendly staff. Helpful and didn't mind us parking our car out the front for a while. Even the cleaners were really friendly as one of our kids was sick so the lovely cleaner gave us a bag to throw the soiled towels in and she took them away. We were very grateful. I forget her name but she has brown hair shoulder length hair, skinny and about 45
Review 64:Noise, the rooms are not well sound proofed so apart from the Traffic outside from 6am there was Hotel noise within the hotel. Despite having the Enviroment notice about towels not needing cleaning despite stating my towels were ok to use again they replaced them every day.
Review 65:Location excellent, friendly staff
Review 66:Nothing at all!
Review 67:Everything from the minute we arrived the staff were all superb hotel lovely and clean the food was fabulous would definitely stay here again and recommend
Review 68:Free wifi but it rarely connected in the room. No shower caps. Cleanliness left much to be desired. Poor housekeeping and tired shabby bathroom.
Review 69:Well located and each room has a small balcony.
Review 70:Brent checked us in and upgraded our room as we had emailed it was our 21st wedding anniversary. He also arranged to fix the sliding door lock in our room which wasn't working.
Review 71:There was some confusion with our snack bar charges, but it was resolved. Shower bath was hard to get out of.
Review 72:The staff were very helpful, whatever you do don't put your room key card next to your phone.
Review 73:No hot water on last day of stay Not a major but probably took a point off your rating
Review 74:Your front of desk staff were excellent and made us feel very welcome. If I gave them a rating it would be 9.5
Review 75:the exterior of the building is really dated, the shared balcony also had flying chairs around in the wind which was scary/weird
Review 76:the bed was awesome
Review 77:Food was only average. Expensive for the quality of the breakfasts and the meals boring. Staying a few days soup only alternated between 2. Must have been cooked in bulk.
Review 78:All staff were great. Friendly and professional. Clean facilities
Review 79:The parking lots below the hotel seems to be limited and small sized. The exit of the parking lot is in a bad design. Slopes are tough while we are inserting the ticket into the machine.
Review 80:Amazing location to start it off. Staff was really friendly and helpful to all our needs. Room's cleanliness was top notch and we had an amazing stay.
Review 81:The manager Brent was ever so friendly. Really made us feel welcome from the moment we checked in. The other staff were all also very friendly and helpful.
Review 82:the rooms need a make-over, ripped carpet, etc. Pillows were a bit firm I think they were in pillow cases too small for the pillow maybe, but overall very nice room.
Review 83:the spacious rooms, plenty of cupboard space and very comfy bed.
Review 84:Old dated small bathroom - but big rooms compensated for small bathroom Fridge didn't work and toilet cistern kept refilling every few mins all through the night Dinner was mediocre and disappointing
Review 85:Great staff Amazing breakfast Bar pleasant
Review 86:Not a fault of hotel, but was woken up by women running along corridor screaming drunk at night. room was good but could have been cleaner
Review 87:Shower was great, bed was very comfy.
Review 88:Dinning seats were dirty, floor in bathroom under and around rubbish bin was dirty, toilet roll holder was caked on dust. No power point close to bench where jug was held. Bed was high in the middle so couldn't sleep together. And was very noisy could hear the room next door and cars going up and down the street very clear.
Review 89:Staff were all excellent. Bed on both sides was really comfortable. Boys loved there beds. Very warm.
Review 90:had to replace hairdryer, which was attended to straight away. The one on the wall needs to be replaced, dangerous.
Review 91:The bed and pillow was so comfortable
Review 92:The fact that we booked through someone else we did not get frequent flyer points. it does not matter where you make your booking you should get your points.
Review 93:The evening meal Happy hour great staff
Review 94:Room features are quite old (bathroom, windows).
Review 95:Atmosphere of the lobby and restaurant is really warm and comfortable. The staff is very friendly, we felt completely at ease.
Review 96:Someone attempted to log onto my mail account while I ws using the free wifi Hallway carpet was quie stained and dirty Single bed kept rolling away when sat upon
Review 97:the room was not appointed as described. The food from room service was not worth the high price. The bed was meant to be a king but was two singles pushed together and this was quite uncomfortable. Even though we had an 11am check out the housekeeping staff were knocking on the door at 10:15am to clean the room - not impressed
Review 98:The staff at check in and out were lovely. Warm, friendly and helpful.
Review 99:A minor inconvenience - there were not enough power points in the room...had to use the powerpoints in the bathrooms, or unplug a bed side light or a clock radio.
Review 100:bed was comfortable, slept very well.
Review 101:There were too few staff at the counter and we had to wait for more than 10 minutes a couple of times at the counter. There was no one at the counter when we arrived and no visible bell as well.
Review 102:Nice and quiet place with a great view. Friendly staff who were able to help us navigate around Hobart. Location was pretty good as well although it was difficult to find a supermarket nearby at first. Room and wifi were great!
Review 103:the art work in the room was horrible, the lamp shade is horrible too (who was the designer that picked these furnishings). the room is a little old but that didn't mind us.
Review 104:the room was quiet, bed was really comfortable. Noticed the robe and slippers in the cupboard we didn't get to use them but thought it was a nice touch.
Review 105:No bad experiences
Review 106:Location, friendliness of staff and there eagerness to assist us when we arrived early. Also they upgraded us with no extra charges. Basically they went out of there way to please us. It was greatly appreciated
Review 107:Room finish was a little on the tired side. Restaurant lacked sufficient seating during busy times. Make sure a reservation is made to get a table unless you want to eat dinner on your lap.
Review 108:Great location. Warm room (important in a Launceston winter). Comfortable bed and adequate facilities.
Review 109:None!
Review 110:Location, price, comfort, large TV, very accommodating and friendly staff. HOT and wonderful shower, and amazing water pressure! Also had a lovely bath. Bed, large and very comfortable, and beautiful fresh white bed sheets. Will definitely return again, and recommend to friends!!
Review 111:Our room was clean, and resonably comfortable, probably at the end of its life cycle and could do with some updating
Review 112:Friendly staff and value for money. We got what we expected
Review 113:Cold breakfast was the only criticism I can make otherwise this property is 11 out of 10.
Review 114:we got 2 nights for $258 I have seen this property for nearly that for one night in summer so that was an enormous saving.
Review 115:Balcony was dirty and tiny, also the sliding door needs some serious WD40. The air con was amazing for heat but was loud and obviously needs replacing. But the one more disappointing part was the bathroom. The showers curtain and floor of the bathtub was filthy. Overall needs very slight renovations to improve (like removal of bathtub and glass doors instead of curtains.) and a hair dryer that actually has enough power to 'dry'.
Review 116:The staff were pleasant and helped when we arrived. The bed was very comfy and I enjoyed the quality TV and wifi. Room service was excellent.
Review 117:Limited parking, very hard pillows. Not as luxurious as indicated. Lamp shades were coming apart. Very basic room.
Review 118:Central location. Breakfast was fantastic.
Review 119:Staff very polite and professional. The manager was most helpful, particularly regarding the faulty bedside lamps, and reallocating another room. The breakfast was great!!
Review 120:The beds in this hotel are to die for. The most comfortable bed I have slept in (other than my own). Very clean and cosy. Perfect for any type of trip.
Review 121:There was nothing about the hotel that I didn't like.
Review 122:The central location was very convenient for all we wanted to see. The breakfasts were very good too.
Review 123:Parking extra 10 bucks a nite not mentioned anywhere and also extra 100 dollars per nite for incitentels won't be staying there again because of this
Review 124:Room was ok stayed in better for less money
Review 125:The location of the hotel is excellent .. within walking distance of the cbd shops and docks, but in a quiet spot on the hill. Rooms clean and comfortable. Good restaurant. Excellent service... and on site car parking which is a plus.
Review 126:How could any chef/cook (?) possibly serve up powdered scrambled eggs/canned mushrooms and juice from Victoria when the produce available in Tasmania is the best in the world ! Not good enough Best Western ! But with all those wonderful cafes in Hobart why did I opt for the 'breakfast deal' !
Review 127:Finding that the reception staff were over the age of 35, addressed me as Mrs, were polite and courteous and the bed - absolute heaven to sleep in !
Review 128:While the walk from the hotel was great for your physical wellbeing, the accommodation could have been closer to the port area.
Review 129:The Dark Mofo week long festivities and the historical setting of Hobart was wonderful. The combination of music, visual arts food was a well orchestrated event for young and old.
Review 130:Really liked that when we asked for there to be a spa innour room they accomodated our wishes. The staff were extremely hospitable. Definately stay there again!
Review 131:We also had dinner at the best western... The meal was amazing, couldn't fault! the service was beyond poor!!!! was really no service at all. please fix that asap
Review 132:Not only was the bed super amazing but the sheets were so soft, it was like being at home :) location was great. Thanks for a lovely stay
Review 133:Booked a room with balcony, got a window with security mesh screen instead. Arrived at restaurant at 9.55 for breakfast and waited 10 minutes whilst the waitress chatted to other guests already eating, she looked over at me a few times. Finally came over and said "can I help you", then told me we'd missed breakfast. P/hol in Hobart so McDonalds for breakfast and BW missed out on $50
Review 134:Everything great, front desk staff lovely, room clean and comfortable
Review 135:Bottle of wine bought at the bar to take upstairs was incrediblyoverpriced. No bottleshops nearby so byo (or expect to pay $$)
Review 136:Always good quality here. Had an urge for Indian food and found 5-6options within a short distance! Didn't know that before.
