Reviews for Hotel Portobelo
Review 1:Nothing really, maybe a minor to have a small fridge in for cold drinks at the leisure...
Review 2:Everything! Friendly front desk Exceptional breakfast to lunch buffet spread Good tours through the hotel Modern and clean AWESOME ACCOMMODATION ALTOGETHER!!
Review 3:I got in every late and person on the desk couldn't get the machine to process my Amex card. I knew it wasn't a problem with my card so I insisted, but he kept saying they would not take my card. Turns out the processing machine at the hotel was not hooked up correctly. The next day the woman at the desk fixed it and all was fine.
Review 4:This is an excellent, central location and the building is updated and beautiful.
Review 5:As a traveller from the USA, I was unaware that I needed to ask for additional credit to be able to make charges to my room folio. I had a credit card on file with the reception desk. At no time did any of the staff that I encountered, suggest that if I wanted to make room charges (breakfast, room service), I needed to have an additional credit at the desk. Also, when my room was cleaned the day before my departure, ALL towels were removed and not replaced in my room. In summary, I did not think the staff was particularly accommodating.
Review 6:My guest room was very nicely appointed and quiet.
Review 7:Service, rooms, and location are fabulous. Excellent value for a boutique style hotel Hotel staff friendly and courteous. Would recommend this hotel for anyone who wishes to visit the city.
Review 8:No coffee maker in the room, nor free coffee in the lobby.
Review 9:Short (10m) walk to the Cathedral The room is modern and efficient The curtains are effective in blocking light We loved the shiny wood-paneled floor The bed is comfortable
Review 10:Couldn' stay longer.
Review 11:The room was very quiet and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great location!Great value. Very close to shopping and Mercado
Review 12:The room itself is not all that quiet/soundproofed. I could sometimes hear my neighbors and every sound in the hallway as though there was no door. Also, I could hear the constant traffic outside.
Review 13:The location was great. The rooms are modern, comfortable and clean and the staff was great.
Review 14:Some of the staff were rude. They didn't have any ramps to roll in my luggage. I had to carry it up the stairs myself. Not one of the staff offered to help.
Review 15:The location is great. In the heart of down town.
Review 16:Room lighting was very poor. Ceiling fixtures small and one was burnt out. I asked them to replace it and didn't happened . Made it impossible to read. Bathroom wasn't cleaned properly when serviced.
Review 17:polite service but not quick to acknowledge patrons. Overall cleanliness. Our room was nice, quiet and faced the park.
Review 18:Unfortunately we traveled there during election time, so every afternoon they would bring speakers and blast them with the same song while promoting a crappy candidate. Another complaint, not the hotel's fault though, someone smoked in the elevator and in the hallway, that's so disrespectful at a non-smoking hotel.
Review 19:Friendly staff, helpful. Cleaning staff so great!!! Perfect location close to everything and to the tren ligero (gdl's mini-subway). Great food/ coffee shops, places to visit within walking distance. Clean, new, great hotel!
Review 20:there was no bellhop to help you with your luggage and would have to carry your luggage up multiple stairways from the outside into Hotel. There was heavy construction going on in the lobby.
Review 21:great location.
Review 22:Not very stabil wifi
Review 23:Very good location! It is perfect for walking in the center and around! Need a taxi only for to get from/to airport. Nice breakfast, for the good price you really can eat a lot! Kind personal on reception. Hot water, great shower, all the stuff for the bathroom is very good.
Review 24:Literally everything: clean and comfortable room, bath and bed; friendly and helpful staff, location. I always stay at Portobelo when in Guadalajara.
Review 25:A guest on the same floor that arrived at the hotel at 1am shouting/singing. I suspect he/she was high. Not the fault of the hotel.
Review 26:Friendly and knowledgeable staff. many amenities.
Review 27:A little away from anywhere Mexican to eat. Not many tv channels but who really needs them on vacation?!
Review 28:8 or so blocks from the historic district on a safe street but if you are not into walking the new subway stop is right out the front door. Helpful staff. Very, very clean and comfortable! Water bottles in the room. Comfy bed with plenty pillows. Best place we stayed in Guadalajara!
Review 29:The WiFi could have been stronger.
Review 30:The room was comfortable, clean and well appointed. The shower was powerful and hot. The restaurant has a varied buffet including eggs al gusto (however you want them prepared) for a very reasonable price. The front desk staff was friendly and responsive.
Review 31:The food on room service was not very good and the selection was poor. The hotel didn't have much of a restaurant and I became injured during my stay and good in house food would have been a plus.
Review 32:The room was very comfortable, clean, convenient, and safe. I was pleased with the room when I walked in. The staff were attentive and helpful. They were quick to respond when I called asking for help with things in my room. They spoke perfect english...I didn't speak spanish.
Review 33:The first day we got there no staffs speaks English. But then all the following days they have some one who speaks fluent English there
Review 34:It is really close to downtown Guadalajara and everything is within walking distances. Our local friends told us not to walk around after 11 pm cuz there aren't that many people on the street on a weekday. There is a bar serves awesome michelada across the street from partaking lot entrance. The break fast is only 89 pesos . Good price for decent buffet!
Review 35:The carpet in my room had this horriffic smell eeeww even do de rooms looks ok , and also the women in the front desk are so mean , they would not even look at you and treat you kindly like we all do in the U S do not stay there that was my last time!!
Review 36:My pillow and bed
Review 37:Loud music coming from the park next to the hotel on Friday and Saturday night. Not impressed with service at the front desk.

Review 77:Proximity to central locations
Review 78:Nada
Review 79:Diseño minimalista y todo muy bien
Review 80:Staff service while registration. Rate higher using this website. Cleanness of restroom.
Review 81:The staff a little hard
Review 82:Location and value for the price
Review 83:No chest of drawers for clothes in the room, would have liked a coffee machine.
Review 84:Location, cleanliness, staff, buffet breakfast, comfort
Review 85:The buffet breakfast was mediocre and they don't have any black tea, so bring your own if that's what you like to drink. The air conditioner doesn't have an AUTO setting, so it stays on all night long until the air gets too cold that you have to get out of bed to turn it off.
Review 86:The decor is modern and clean. Taxis are readily available right outside the front door and downtown restaurants and attractions are within walking distance.
Review 87:This is a great place to stay. It is centrally located with access to everything! Everything was excellent and would recommend it to anyone who is traveling with friends, family, or for business.
Review 88:I got charged 20 dollars more than was quoted by booking.com will I be compensated by you or hotel I thought you guaranteed you quote .
Review 89:Location was good
Review 90:Wifi slow Was unable to respond to email from hotel saying my card had been declined. (booked over 150 nights with booking.com) I was unable to contact them till I got to the hotel as Id spent the last 30 hours in the air. I emailed them in reply to the email they had sent stating Id loose my room by 6pm. I got the confirmation saying everything was fine. I could pay on arrival. So I assumed everything was fine. When I arrived they upped the price which seemed massively unfair to me. I checked the hotel vacancies on booking.com and they have over 14 rooms left that night. So in the end, I paid more because a problem at there end. I dont carry cash! I always use my card-Never had an issue. Accept for this. I kinda think the problem was at there end and I had to pay extra for it in the end for a mediocre room. room service food was below average. view from room was a wall. over priced. Ive stayed in better hostels in Guadalajara.
Review 91:Friendly receptionist
Review 92:The staff was not helpful. If you asked a question they would answer, but would not go out of there way to offer suggestions if they could not accommodate you needs. Also the hotel does not give a face cloth in the bathrooms. I don't like showering with my hands.
Review 93:I liked that the hotel was clean, comfortable, quiet and budget friendly.
Review 94:The mattress is too hard for me but was perfect for my Mom. Laundryservice was too expensive. The street noise is easily heard allnight long.
Review 95:Location location location! This hotel is in the centro historicodistrict. Walking distance to most major sights. Shopping andrestaurants within walking distance. Free wifi for laptops. All for asmall budget. Did I mention the hotel is a new modern hotel? Modernluxury for a budgetffriendly price!
Review 96:For Americans - no ability for calls to the usa.Short Hours on Restaurant, Buffet Pricing a little on the high side.
Review 97:Value for the money spent. Excellent location to city center. Staff veryfriendly and Helpful. The bar manager, Isabel should be especially singled out as an asset to the hotel.
Review 98:The breakfast was a bit on the expensive side but then again, only for mexican prices.
Review 99:Excellent location 10 minute walking distance from the city center. Large, friendly rooms.
Review 100:This hotel has it all together. Friendly, efficient staff; up-to-date facilities; comfortable beds and large bathrooms. There were fine Joan Miró and Picasso print copies on hallway walls. Competence, cleanliness and comfort are the 3 "C" words that come to mind. A leisurely stroll takes you to Guadalajara's beautiful, pedestrianized central squares and parks surrounded by historic buildings. A clean subway stops just outside the lobby and whisks you there, a stop away. All is safe. Around the corner on Avenida Juárez is a delightful coffee shop housed in a cultural center: art, theatre, photography, music, dance, etc. By all means, stay at Portobelo!
Review 101:A bit noisy between walls and between floors. Lighting in the rooms is a bit dim and the free wifi is very slow.
Review 102:Location and price. Plus great a/c system. Underground free parking a real benefit.
Review 103:There were no washcloths available. We were disappointed we could not watch the NFL playoffs in the sports bar with many tvs. We were told by staff at the desk and in the bar that they couldn't change the channel. I never got an answer as to why not.
Review 104:The room was very comfortable and clean. Staff was courteous. Room rate is a very good bargain. Location was super. Parking was great. The shower was fabulous, best I've seen in a hotel ever.
