Reviews for Hotel L'Arcangelo

Review 1:This new hotel is a little gem. The restoration of an old building has been done well and original features such as vaulted ceilings and exposed beams have been retained where possible and they have still managed to squeeze in an elevator. The rooms are not large but are well thought out and nicely furnished and most have balconies or terraces with views across the water. Breakfast was excellent and the hosts both friendly and helpful.

Review 2:We were greeted warmly, were delighted with our room which was clean, comfortable and quiet. Helpful staff gave us good advice about local restaurants. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 3:The area of town, as mentioned in the positive comments section. The temperature in the room is centrally controlled so you can't change it to suit your preference. In addition, in the room there is a list of 23 rules which guests are sternly warned to abide by. It feels rather like being back at school! However, these rules are only provided in Italian and Spanish so if you don't speak either of those languages, I'm not sure what happens if you break them!

Review 4:Great staff, particularly the person who was on reception when I checked in. Spacious room. I rated the location as 'good' but it depends what you are looking for. It is very convenient if you are just breaking a journey overnight as it's only about a 10-minute walk from the railway station. However, for people who want to spend some time in Taranto, I don't think it's the best location as it's definitely not the nicest area of town.

Review 5:Church bell rang every 15 minutes from 8 AM till 10 PM. Noisy street in a poor old neighborhood in old town. Takes about 20-25 minutes to walk to the new city centre.

Review 6:Friendly English speaking staff. Good wifi-connection. Modern clean bathroom.

Review 7:Hotel staff were brilliant. Special thanks to Katya who was really helpful and couldn't do enough for us during our short stay. The hotel itself is really lovely and is located on the old island which is developing into a really nice place to base yourself if exploring the area.

Review 8:The staff is wonderful, very helpful, and speak English. I was upgraded to the third floor suite. If you can book this suite, do it! It takes up the entire top floor and has not one but TWO large, beautiful patios plus a sitting room. The location of the hotel couldn't be better, as it is easy walking distance to train and buses, it is in the old part of the city, and an easy walk to anywhere you are likely to want to go in town. I really can't say enough good things about the staff. They were clearly dedicated to providing the best service possible, and they did. Thank you!

Review 9:My only criticism is that the wifi didn't work on the second floor (a problem that I'm sure will be solved); access however was available in the breakfast room.

Review 10:Very attractively presented small hotel with very helpful staff (advice about where to eat etc). Good breakfast.

Review 11:Staff extremely helpful and all tried to ensure we were comfortable and that we had everything we needed or wanted. There were also bbmany nice places to eat witin 5 minute walk.

Review 12:Everything about this place was perfect! The location, the staff, the room and the hot cooked breakfast. A real "find" in a lovely part of Taranto.

Review 13:Not a good location in the decepit old city Heating system not working Room suffered from ceiling leaking WiFi intermittent Tiny spartan bathroom WY overpriced for what you get

Review 14:Friendly host Nice terrace

Review 15:A very positive experience. Ask for the room on the 3rd floor, then you get your own private terrace overlooking the old city and the harbour. Very helpful staff. We were served bread, italian ham and cheese for breakfast. Wonderful, and a nice change to all the sweet cakes which are traditionally served at Italian hotels. We would like to return soon

Review 16:The staff could not speak English at all. I needed a confirmation on my bustimetable and some instruction about where to buy tickets on Saturday or Sunday and information about the bus station. They could not understand a word and when asking someone to speak English they called some girl and put me on the phone, I tried to solve everything by phone, not very good either, but got through to her a little bit what I wanted. Later they gave me some so called info, which was not enough, so basically I new better in beforehand from website than the local staff did. In the end I had to walk back all the way to the bus station just to buy tickets for the next day as you cannot enter the bus without it. When asking about the bus stop outside the hotel, the staff shoved me the wrong place. When asking the local people the next day they showed us the right place. Basically the staff was there for no use as should not be in a three star hotel of this kind. They shoud at least have a dictionary or learn the basic words as for tourists to come as we did in Italian, they could no ever count the numbers! Friendliness does not help a lot if they do not know anything to give you back. No use of asking any info about the town etc. as they cannot answer anyway.

Review 17:The location was okay.

Review 18:Classic european hotel with a great staff. The facilities were in 1stclass shape. We had the top floor with 2 terraces, well appointed bathand comfortable bed. The breakfast had at least 10 kinds of pastriesalong with great coffee and juices.

Review 19:The cleaning could be a bit improved as there was still hair all around from somebody before.

Review 20:The hotel is situated just at the beginning of the Old Town on a nice square with a fountain and numerous restaurants and cafeterias. Bus Station, train station, Old Town, new town all very easy to access from here. This old house was renovated very sensitive and with good taste. I had a kind of a maisonette room, bathroom and a desk were upstairs. Nice View to the piazza. In my room i had very strong WiFi. The whole staff was amazing: all the 3 guys i had (morning. afternoon, night shifts) were exceptionally friendly, spoke good english, were attending and help with every information or request you could ever have. Very good variety on breakfast, even eggs were available. Fantastic place.!

Review 21:it is definitely not for people who has children. It is very small rooom and very noisy. there was one of festival during our staying. it was very very very noisy until mid night. it is unacceptable. it should be informed to the customers when we made our booking. I don't understand why the ranking is so high and I don't recommend to anyone.

Review 22:Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Review 23:Hotel is nice and comfortable. Staff very helpfull and friendly. Breakfast was perfect, scrambled eggs were freshly made and very tasty. Rooms sound proof.

Review 24:Nothing.

Review 25:My room was great. But the staff of this hotel exceeded any expectations and previous experiences. They were there to accommodate you and they were great.

Review 26:Although the hotel located in the old city, the old city itself is quite abandoned and dirty. The actual center of Taranto is in the new city, which is quite a walk from this hotel. My computer didn't work with WiFi (both MacOS and Windows), however iPhone worked fine. Breakfast is basic.

Review 27:Location is very comfortable for those who travel by trains - probably, the closest to the railway station. Staff is quite helpful. Rooms are large and clean, bathroom is well equipped.

Review 28:Leaving.

Review 29:The Hotel L'Arcangelo is a building that has stood at the northern entrance to the Old City "Citta Vecchia" of Taranto. It was a very old building that was renovated into a hotel by Sig.ra Cinzia and her husband two years ago. It was painstakingly renovated and now stands as a beautiful beacon to the old city and an example for the future. It is no surprise that Sig.ra Cinzia is so passionate about her hotel and the city of Taranto. She is a wonderful host and her passion is certainly contagious, as is exemplified by her staff and her guests. The food is very good. Taranto is very photogenic with the Aragonese Castle and the Italian Naval Base, as well as its many churches and cathedrals. The waters of the Ionian Sea and the Mare Piccolo are very clear and beautiful in the plentiful sunlight of the Italian Salento. I would like to thank previous booking.com guests of this hotel who helped me make the right choice.

Review 30:Nothing all was perfect.

Review 35:Nice breakfast. Many sweets.

Review 36:The staff were wonderful

Review 37:Staff were very friendly and accommodating, parking was on the street, but not a problem and you could reach the town quickly on foot.

Review 38:nothing.

Review 39:We stayed in a floor with a "private elevator". It was a pleasant surprise. We loved the terrace. Well located Hotel.

Review 40:We would of preferred a more secure place to park our car.

Review 41:None

Review 42:The whole experience fantastic staff and owners a 'GREAT STAY'

Review 43:It was cold in a room and in a bathroom, climatisation was not enough.

Review 44:Location, stuff was very helpful.

Review 45:Staff put themselves out to ensure we were happy. Generous breakfast and great view from the top balcony

Review 46:Everything else

Review 47:The staff.

Review 48:A wonderful surprise in a beautiful little city!

Review 49:Directly next to the 'Old' town which looks derelict and unsafe at night

Review 50:Good, clean hotel with very attentive staff. Value for money.

Review 51:I liked all

Review 52:Everything about this hotel is excellent- Situation Comfort Friendly, helpful staff Nearness to historical interests

Review 53:Taranto

Review 54:If you visit Taranto this is the place to stay. Staff is totally friendly, parking directly in front of the hotel, easy to find.

Review 55:Wifi and the location far from the commercial center.

Review 56:Just stayed one night in a heavy rain so we didn't get out much. Parked the car under our window so it was very convenient. Right by restaurants and waterfront fishing fleet

Review 57:Cynthia, the owner is such a wonderful person, extremely helpful, kind and friendly. She makes every effort to make sure your stay is comfortable and relaxed. All the staff are also top class and make every effort to speak to you in english,

Review 58:This hotel is outstanding. It is in a beautifully restored old residence right on the edge of the ancient historic centre of Taranto. What makes it special is the exceptional care and kindness we received from everyone in this hotel - they are a team and they care about their guests. We had a corner room with two balconies one overlooking the piazza, harbour and blue water and the other a little corner of the old town. All was quiet at night. Breakfast was particularly good with a buffet and of course all the lovely local pastries. Our main reason for going to Taranto was to visit its famous museum only to find it unexpectedly closed. The help and suggestions for alternative explorations given by the staff including Ideas for eating wonderful food at budget prices meant that we hope to return another year and this time we will book the room with the stunning roof terrace! Taranto old town still has something of an edge but the situation of this hotel and the choice of restaurants nearby meant that we felt safe and secure at all times.

Review 59:The downpour!

Review 60:The staff went to every trouble to help me find the sights I wanted to see, the place to dine, how to cope with being drenched by a torrential downpour - there had been no rain for 3 months- and cooked lunch for me as the downpour made going out temporarily impossible.

Review 61:Really easy to reach, excellent parking, super comfortable and Katja and Paula take really good care of you while being there...everyone always has a smile and is helpful beyond believe. Would stay again!

Review 62:Breakfast not very inspiring, although this is Italy!

Review 63:Very comfortable and beautifully decorated and fitted with luxury bathroom. Comfortable bed. We were upgraded to a suite.

Review 64:We loved the location, the staff were amazing, the owner Cinzia was amazing, everyone went over board to make our stay relaxing, explaining the city and what sites to see. We recommend it for everyone, we stayed from August 30-Sept 4 2013. we had the terrace overlooking the city. Excellent job to everyone at the hotel, the room was spacious and private, more than what we expected. We are planning a trip again to the hotel next year and we are looking forward to it, cant wait to see everyone again. Grazie a tutti Antonio and Nina Cancellara.

Review 65:Our room had a very unpleasant smell. Thought it was cigarettes but notsure. Had to spray my perfume to counter the smell in the night to sleepthrough it. Wifi didn't work in our room. Breakfast was ok but nomore than that. Hotel in on very edge of Taranto old town: Taranto was amistake - not worth putting on our tour of the heel of Italy

Review 66:Francesco on reception spoke good English and was very helpful as washis fan ale colleague on the earlier shift. Very clean

Review 67:The wifi did not work well during our stay.

Review 68:Cynthia, the owner is extraordinarily empathetic and tries very hard to provide the very best service. Our superior room, was well appointed and furnished for a hotel of this category (3 stars), it was reasonably large, with views and two balconies. Fresh cooked eggs were offered for breakfast, also a very unusual amenity for a 3 star hotel.

Review 69:Hotel staff including the owner (an extremely nice Lady) was extremelypolite and professional and do all possible to satisfy customer needs.Room was extremely clean. Breakfast was simply perfect !

Review 70:Thought church bells might annoy,or vespa horns...in fact felt like wewere in Italy...can not think of anything we did not like...we have beento many places..loved Taranto..

Review 72:Location of the hotel is very good - situated in the old town and is only 10min walking distance to the new town; close to the cathedral and the castle. The staff are extremely helpful - they also showed us our way around to see the city and also recommended some very good restaurants. They kindly upgraded us to a superior room - rooms are very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good too. There are parking spaces in front of the hotel reserved for the residents. We will definitely stay at this hotel the next time we are in the area !
