Review 1：We stayed two nights at the Hospedaria Rita. Everything was very clean and tidy. The family room was excellent and big enough for us 4. We especially enjoyed the little terrce and the hammock. The owners are very nice and friendly. I can only recommend this small hotel to everybody!

Review 2：The rooms in this accommodation are very close together so it can spoil your peace and tranquility if you happen to have people next door like we did. The balcony was small and there was no table, the bathroom was large but the shower with jets that no longer work just needs to be replaced. It didn't drain properly either. The pillows were lumpy and very uncomfortable.

Review 3：The king suite we stayed in was very clean and spacious, excellent views from the balcony, reasonable price, good overnight stop.

Review 4：Although bathroom was huge there were no shelves or cupboards for our toiletries. Parking on rough ground on edge of hillside, although it wasn't a problem for us to park in the car park next to the bridge.

Review 6：We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hospedaria Rita. The couple who run the hotel were very welcoming and friendly, and the room was very comfortable. There were facilities available to have breakfast which was great. The location was very central, and we would definitely stay there again if we return to Mertola.

Review 7：No wifi in room. You had to go to terrace to get the wifi and it was only adequate.

Review 8：This hotel is located right on the river and very easy to get to. The room was very quiet and very close to the center of town. There is free parking. The price was incredibly cheap.

Review 23：It says on the information "we speak your language" in our case English. In fact it says all the staff speak English. Leading up to our stay, twice I phoned to confirm everything was okay with our booking and the person we spoke with (think it was the owner) couldn't speak a word of English. I felt this was misleading. Although the lady was very lovely and welcoming when we arrived. Luckily her daughter was nearby and helped.

Review 26：Lovely owners, very helpful although they do not speak english. We phoned and it was not a problem to arrive later. Lovely view over the river and close to old parts of the town. We enjoyed looking at the birds. We loved staying there and if in the area we will come back! Our room had a minibar so it was not a problem that the place did not serve breakfast. There is a bakery a few minutes away so you can get fresh bread.

Review 27：From reviews I got the idea that this village and place is something little bit different,more. When we toured Portugal we saw dozens of villages like this one, we drove extra 50 km to see this one, little bit dissapointing.

Review 44：Nice hotel. Upgraded our accommodation as we had a cheap room with no view. Got a lovely room with balcony over the river. Very comfortable. Staff didn't know any English but we managed to sort everything out. They were lovely and friendly. Very helpful, even gave us a glass of port after we returned from dinner. Easy to find and parking was at site.

Review 45：We thought this place was excellent value for money. We were most comfortable and the wifi in the communal area was excellent. We particularly liked our hosts who went out of their way to help and be of assistance.

Review 46：The owner of the property could not have been more helpful. He and his daughter cleaned our self catering apartment every day. He even left us some strawberries one day fresh from his garden, and told us to help ourselves to some lettuce and chillies. I would recommend the "Rita" for a relaxing stay and the views of the Guadiana river from the terrace are wonderful. Considering the price of a stay here, it is fantastic value for money.

Review 48：The localization was perfect, just by the beautiful river Guadiana and a few minutes walk to the centre of Mertola and the Mertola castle. The room was very clean and comfortable, owners very helpful and friendly. They allowed me to stay with my dog even though at the entrace I've found a sign "Pets not allowed".

Review 49：Loved everything about this place Great location, looking down on river, a little piece of heaven in a lovely old town with plenty of character. Staff were very friendly and attentive. They had very little English but this didn't impede our experience . What a pleasant surprise when we were shown into our room, it was a great size, fabulous big bed , decor gorgeous, bathroom facilities excellent. Breakfast was a lovely home cooked affair. We were even given a lovely glass of port on our last morning. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere beautiful and quiet. It's a great location to stay in if your into birdwatching. Definitely would go back when we are in the area again. Also great value and close to restaurants and the few local bars

Review 50：The owner was great - he didn't speak English but he was really friendly and insisted on us having a glass of port before we left! The hotel is right on the river and in the centre of town. The room was spacious and clean, bathroom was small but good enough. Wifi is in the reception area only. Free parking in front of the hotel. No English channels on the TV. For what we paid it was fantastic value for money.

Review 52：Can't fault our stay here as we had a decent clean room on the lower terrace with a view over the river outside. Sign language as no English spoken, no credit cards and didn't have breakfast but given that the cost was about half the price of a bunk in a youth hostel each the value was so good that it overrides everything. Extended to 3 nights and spent the saving on eating out
