Reviews for Hotel Portonovo Plaza Centro

Review 1:No proper windows in the room. You could hear everything happening in the hallway.

Review 2:Frontdesk staff was friendly and spoke English. Good wifi. The room was clean. 15min walking to the downtown. Oxxo shop 100meters far from the hotel. Transportation tip: take shuttle (ShuttleGDL) at the airport instead of taxi - they can also take you to the hotel and it costs 80pesos less. Money exchange tip: dont change money at the airport if you can, average rate at the airport was around 15pesos/USD, while in the downtown it was 15.7. (However google said the rate was 16.7 at the time, so there are probably better ways how to exchange)

Review 3:Overall the property was well located, a very nice staff. Shower glass door are in need of a plastic sweep to prevent water from seeping thru the bottom and getting the bathroom floor all wet. The wifi had a lot to be disired.

Review 4:Tv is terrible, the wifi reach the rooms but did not work, so you need to go to the lobby to use internet. Breakfast could be better, with bread and butter.

Review 5:Nice room, bed is good, shower is good. It is clean and comfortable.

Review 6:Breakfast-- Fresh orange juice, cerely juice, scramble eggs, chimichangas, fruits! I love papaya and cantalope so I was happy :) Better than average hotel with breakfast in the US.

Review 7:Window opened onto light well. The room was small but adequate for two nights.

Review 8:Close to the Cento Historico. Substantial breakfast included in the room rate.

Review 9:WiFi was still inadequate..a few repeaters would probably help.

Review 10:Great experience...fresh smelling, great staff and nice decor. They have changed the breakfast so not as much is offered but it still has a good value.

Review 11:The bed was really uncomfortable. My sheets weren't changed for the 4 nights I was there. I left with a lot of bug bites. TV channel listings weren't all that great.

Review 12:Free breakfast was huge. The food was actually good. The lobby comfort was great.

Review 13:the breakfast a bit limited - food was ok. some of the nearby noises I could hear in my room late at nite early in the mornings. dogs barking. no elevator - and the lock on the door to my room was not in good conation.

Review 14:The location was quite good. over and over the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to be helpful and pleasant.

Review 15:I loved everything about this hotel. I was more pleased in person once I got there. The continious cleanliness and friendliness of the staff. I definately enjoyed my stay.

Review 16:I received a room on the third floor (no elevators available) because their other hotel overbooked and this one was receiving a lot of people.

Review 17:Good value, very good location if you want to visit downtown, thou the area feels unsafe at night.

Review 18:There was a bit of a smell in my room because it is an old building andthe plumbing codes in those days are not what they are now, but as longas I kept the plug in the sink, it was not a problem

Review 19:The staff here are excellent. They helped me pay for a taxi when my bankcard would not work. Antonio the manager is a true gentleman and Reeceat front reception is a funny dude. Having a few staff members thatspeak English is real handy. With breakfast included, for the price, youcan not expect anymore. It is clean.

Review 20:Beds and pillows are a bit stiff.

Review 21:I stayed for 4 days at this hotel. The staff is very helpful. They will help you order a taxi or get information on any place you wany to travel to. The complimentary breakfast buffet is delicious. You can also order room service from their restaurant. Overall excellent stay at this hotel. Withing walking distance of downtown attractions.

Review 22:breakfast was not covered

Review 23:people are nice

Review 24:The internet didnt work and the personnel were unpolite

Review 25:Did not like location.

Review 26:Was inexpensive

Review 27:location, very busy loud street, not a lot within walking distance

Review 28:Staff very helpful and friendly. Very clean. off street parking.

Review 29:The Internet was terrible, I would not stay there again because of this!

Review 30:Safety and clean!

Review 31:Wifi was very spotty - did not work most of the time (no signal strength)

Review 32:Clean rooms and common areas, free underground parking, friendly staff

Review 33:No wifi.

Review 34:Room is good. Has air conditioner.

Review 35:Staff

Review 36:Location is so Good.

Review 37:price and location

Review 38:Helpful

Review 39:You should be aware that there may be no English speakers among the staff.

Review 40:small rooms, unprepared receptionist, noisy rooms, no elevator, management does not seem to care

Review 41:location only

Review 42:I liked the hotel exept for the bathroom it stinkef very bad. It bad smell was from the swer that filtrr all the way up thru the shower drain. Knowing that is a problem the stuff could put some kind of fragance in the bathroom.

Review 43:--Location at night. Extremely sketch (for single women -- the hoteltold me to take a cab if I was going anywhere after dark) --the femalereceptionist was fairly useless. She liked to say 'no' alot.Nothing helpful came from speaking with her. Often the manager had tostep in and how to do her job. -- the staff member at breakfast was moreinterested in her phone than helping anyone.

Review 44:After a week of staying in hostels, I needed a place to spread out, relax, decent wifi and super clean. Hotel Portonovo fulfilled that.Breakfast was solid - excellent coffee and omelet and fruit, and thelocation was good for exploring Guadalajara during the day.

Review 45:Slightly out of the way and district a bit rundown but only 10 minutes walk from cathedral

Review 46:Comfortable, capacious room, excellent shower, modern decor, great breakfasts

Review 47:NO ELECTRIC OUTLET IN BATHROOM. OUTSIDE LIGHTING KEEPS ROOM FROM GETTING DARK WITH ROOM LIGHTS OFF LOCATION-INDEPENDENCIA IS CROWDED WITH VENDORS,AND IS NOT COMFORTABLE AREA-

Review 48:CLEAN.PRICE.WI-FI

Review 49:I enjoyed my stay here. They have a couple of computers in the lobby with internet for the hotel guests to use, which are free of charge. They were a bit slow... That's all I can think of, but it's hardly a complaint...I enjoyed this hotel.

Review 50:Very nice hotel, it has a chic and modern feel to it, which was a nice surprise considering the affordable price. Very friendly staff, great location near the historic district, an overall great value for what you are paying.

Review 51:The entrance to the parking lot is tight, in the corner diagonally, only fits one vehicle going one way in one way out. This is under thebuilding parking spaces are very compact. No valet. We did get helpwith luggage. Bath was on the small side, towel were good but could usesome downy.

Review 52:The online room pictures are true to the room. They have multiplecomputers for guest and wi-fi but no printer. The staff was friendly andhelpful. Front desk was willing to help me print my boarding pass. Iwent to Guadalajara just to fly out of that airport but wanted to takeadvantage of the night before my flight to walk around and have dinnerdowntown. Arrived about 9pm on a Sunday night the Hotel was quiet, cleanand staff was and looked professional. Closet in room is prettyspacious. Loved that they have a traditional style blanket in closet.Considering the building is old the decor and maintenance of theinterior is very good.

Review 53:The towels were disgusting......frayed and full of holes......I did mention It to the front desk but nothing improved. There should be security cameras in the hallways....

Review 54:Good location Friendly staff Clean

Review 55:Do not get a room over-looking the street - the noise is impossible tosleep. No elevator (no big deal since it is a small hotel but could be afactor if you have a bad back or cant carry bags up stairs for whateverreason), minimal towels, and the electric plug-ins in the room arescarce - none at all in bathrooms or close to any mirror which makedrying/styling your hair impossible - if I had known I would havetaken an extension cord (receptionist thought I was crazy because Iwanted to dry/style my hair in front of a mirror, promised to try tofind an extension cord but in 4 days couldn't "findone"haha... Also a bit spooky to walk around the neighboorhood byyourself late at night if you are women alone...(but then, why would youwant to, right?) The food is super-reasonably priced and the lady whocooks and serves you is very nice, but the flavor is just ok... But youknow? I'm really having to think of what to complain about -overall, a great place and terrific value.

Review 56:For the price it is very clean, modern and the people bend overbackwards to make your stay a good one - super-safe private undergroundparking and valet parking (take advantage of it - getting in and out ofthe parking lot is not easy), plenty of decent hot coffee early in themorning - and free (serve yourself), the ability to have cheap anddecent breakfast right there in the hotel, and the location is reallygood with walking distance to "las 9 esquinas" (great eatingplace with restaurants on all 9 corners), the historic downtown, etc.,plus right in front of the subway station. Inside rooms are very quietand comfy beds and bedding - flat-screens, and they will even do all thelogging in and print your boarding passes for you,

Review 57:The shower door didn't close. I'd prefer it if they didn't change the towels and sheets everyday and in the interest of the environment they changed them every other day of when you request a change.

Review 58:Very good value for money. Nice modern rooms. Staff very helpful. Comfortable beds.

Review 59:Sewer odor.

Review 60:location and staff were good

Review 61:That it was close to the market

Review 62:The smell in the bathroom

Review 63:The bathroom was clean, but a strong sewer smell was coming from the shower and never left.

Review 64:The staff were very kind and always helpful.

Review 65:noisy street

Review 66:spacious room

Review 67:The room it self was nice and clean. The staff was polite. Walking distance to main plaza and shopping areas.

Review 68:There were prostitutes at the corner.

Review 69:Very comfortable.
