Reviews for Palms City Resort
Review 1:The TV doesn't work on New Year's Eve .we have been there 2 days and not used Tv .They fixed it 1Jan Good
Review 2:Close to CBD short distance to wharf The pool outside area incl Bbq
Review 3:There was nothing I did not like.
Review 4:The location by the sea and near the harbour was lovely, the people at reception were friendly and welcoming, I loved the beautiful gardens surrounding the hotel and the pool, my room was spacious and comfortable, and it was great to have a laundry nearby.
Review 5:A little far from the centre, needed to catch the shuttle( which could be cheaper) or walk down the road to catch the local bus (cheaper option)
Review 6:Excellent place to stay- very beautiful setting around the grounds and spacious nice room layout. Freindly staff. Stayed an extra night.
Review 7:Arriving to a room at 35 degrees. Why wasnt the air con turned on for our arrival. Small room. 1 small bar of soap. Tiny bathroom. When towels were replaced we were not given a hand towel. Sheets were clearly dirty & were not changed.
Review 8:The location
Review 9:Little bit too close to our neighbours (bungalow accomodation, shared balcony with see-through partition down the middle).
Review 10:Excellent location, gorgeous surroundings, friendly staff and beautiful pool! :)
Review 11:None
Review 12:The location of this accommodation is first class being a short work to all the cities facilities. We stayed in a garden bungalow which was secure and well fitted out. We were in close proximity to there pool which was used by us often. All together a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to go back.
Review 13:First night the room had no private outdoor seating.
Review 14:Low rise accommodations in high rise neighborhood across from a park on the ocean. Location is superb! Walking distance to restaurants an activities.
Review 15:Breakfast lady shut earlier than was supposed to and rude.
Review 16:The lovely pool, hotel rooms lovely and clean. Apart from breakfast lady Al staff very helpful and kind.
Review 17:One morning our room didn't get cleaned, but sure this was simple oversight
Review 18:We had a cabin that came with terrace, BBQ, cooking facilities and right outside the pool. For the money it represented outstanding value. Good location for Darwin CBD too.
Review 19:Not being their fault but was a shame road works were being done out front.
Review 20:The staff were very helpful and happy, location was great and pool was nice to relax in after the hot days.
Review 21:Due to road work and road closure just in front of the hotel, we found it very difficult and inconvenient to drive into the hotel. The room price of $95.00 plus credit card fees per night for a basic hotel is rather expensive. The hotel is rather old and need major upgrade. WiFi was very bad.
Review 22:Convenient location Room is very clean Decent size room
Review 23:It was fine for a nights stopover, the room was comfortable although smelled a bit mouldy. We didn't spend much time here so can't really comment on the facilities a lot. If you have a night stay then it's worth the money.
Review 24:The bathroom was so hot can't be helped with the heat
Review 25:The staff were very helpful and happy from the first contact with them from prior to stay to end
Review 26:Close to everything! Dinning, tours, Pubs. Bus transit terminal 2 blocks away, Darwin waterfront is a 15 minute stroll. Accommodation very comfortable, nice Bungalows and a top Pool to cool off in.
Review 27:If I had to say something its that there was no ice available
Review 28:Friendly staff always helpful and lovely pool, even though we were only a very short walk from the main street it was very quiet location no noise :) Breakfast was very yummy and well worth it
Review 29:Housekeeping a little slack but no worries at all.
Review 30:Absolutely beautiful, honeymoon was amazing thanks to the staff and location of palms. Commend the staff and upgrade to our private outside spa garden Villa. Would come back tomorrow :)
Review 31:We had a bit of trouble with the air con the first night, later on was ok.
Review 32:The location. It is really central location. Close to shops and restaurants.
Review 33:I was a little (a bit more than little really) disappointed with the cleanliness of the ceiling fan and the exhaust fan in bathroom - I'm not really a 'clean freak' but in this circumstance I think those things are paramount and those things really mad me cringe as they were very poor. I was already suffering from a bit of a cough from the aircraft trip and then I see these things I wanted to scream. But apart from those things I was quite comfortable but it was definitely a 'single' size room.
Review 34:The location is excellent, the staff most helpful and the facilities are definitely adequate.
Review 35:This place was amazin and ha the bet bed in the whole entire world! We wish we never had to leave it! The staff were lovely, food was amazing and pool was awesome. Good location
Review 36:annoyed that we couldn't get wi-fi in our room. Needed to go outside or to the pool area, or lobby. Ridiculous in this day and age.
Review 37:the pool, the location, housekeeping staff
Review 38:It will be great if they can offer flexible half day rate since a lot flights in and out of Darwin are midnight or red eye.
Review 39:The staff are super friendly, the pool is beautiful.
Review 40:Private car park gets very full, staff was very helpful though on letting us use their parking.
Review 41:Having our own little BBQ on our deck verandah, surrounded by palms. Strolling through the topical gardens to the pool. Minute walk to Mitchell Street restaurants.
Review 42:Nothing major - one night the spa switched off 15 mins early just as I got in, so that was annoying. The bathroom was a little small & the door opened out & banged into the bed, but that is really the only negatives in an otherwise very enjoyable stay.
Review 43:We stayed in the Executive Spa Cabin - the outdoor spa was perfect & very clean (was serviced daily). The cabin had a large deck with an electric BBQ which we made use of most days. The best part is that staff came & got the BBQ plate each morning & cleaned it up - great service! Would definitely stay here agian & recommend it to other travellers looking for a great location & relaxing surrounds.
Review 44:Bathroom a little cramped, but that's being picky.
Review 45:Location excellent, central to everything, across from esplanade and close to city centre. Pool was good. Not highrise building
Review 46:The bathroom was a bit dated and the room was by no means big - but these are minor things and did not really affect our comfort.
Review 47:Great location in the middle of the city, still quiet though. Incredibly friendly staff. Lovely pool. Recommend this for children too!
Review 48:Breakfast wasn't good at all, especially for the price.
Review 49:Our room was always cleaned, everything was perfect and we really enjoyed our stay. The outdoor spa was fantastic also. Great location and everything was close.
Review 50:A wonderful place in a beautiful tropical garden setting. Very comfortable bed and room. I was ill when I arrived and the lady on the desk got me in to see a doctor around the corner straight away. Can't speak highly enough of this whole set up.
Review 51:nothing really, didn't get the breakfast as it was a bit pricey for me.. but otherwise good!
Review 52:Rooms were comfy, clean, location excellent right near the waterfront and deck chair cinema, staff lovely.. delightful pool area too!
Review 53:Cleaning staff did not wash the dishes during any of the three days they made up the room. There are small ants going around the room.
Review 54:BBQ in the veranda is a great idea - loved it! Pool area not big but very pleasant. Reception staff is very nice and helpful.
Review 55:Breakfast was disappointing - not enough fresh food.
Review 56:We loved having an outside area overlooking the gardens and the excellent pool. The reception staff were extremely helpful.
Review 57:The noise from the bar/hotel behind was horrendous. Slept well however when it stopped at 2am. Wifi did not work in these rooms either.
Review 58:Checking out was a real pleasure
Review 59:Wi-Fi was poor,, even in the hotspot by the pool and our outside table Also we have a van we normally camp in but due to lack of campsites in town and we fancied a break we booked a room, on the night before leaving we were loading some stuff into the van about 9pm and got approached and questioned about if we are guests and what room etc even tho we gave our van details at check in. Made us feel a bit judged, its not like we are squatters just trying to see Australia on a budget
Review 60:Most staff were very friendly, room was given a tidy and re stocked with coffee, milk etc Good location for exploring Darwin, and pool facilities
Review 61:Bed was a bit hard, may have just needed turning?
Review 62:We had the executive villa with outdoor spa. You can't wrong. A great place to relax & unwind but if you wish to make the most of the city lifestyle its at your door
Review 63:Staff were rude. Service very poor. Our needs were not met put in wrong room and then when extra bed brought just left in room unmade and when we opened bed my daughter cut her arm.
Review 64:Only thing letting it down at the time of our stay wasnt the hotel at all, but the construction on the road straight out front. They would start early and go till around tea time.
Review 65:The location is great. Its right in the city. The foreshore is just over the road.
Review 66:I found teeny-tiny ants in the bathroom cabinets...where they keep the hairdryer...thought someone might need to say this...
Review 67:The villas are awesome. I questioned how loud my partner and I could be, but the villas were quite secluded despite being in close vicinity of one another.
Review 68:Not an impersonal high rise. It has a lovely tropical feel. The little villa was great..a relaxing space. Nice to sit on our own deck amongst the gardens. The pool was good too. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Good position to Darwin's CBD.
Review 69:Bit of noise transfer from the adjoining villa, not much but definitely there. Could hear them talking, but not what they said. Also room very compact.
Review 70:Liked the villa overlooking the pool and the balcony, and the great breakfasts. Also the great location, walk to everything.
Review 71:Location,on esplanade right in city.Little villas set amongst tropical plants with your own verandah with electric BBQ. Beautiful pool with lots of space around for sun lounges and chairs.
Review 72:The pillows were terrible. Didn't sleep very well at all.
Review 73:Great location. Walking distance to everything. Room/Bungalow was small but comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 74:The bungalow was a little small but served the purpose. I would recommend this if you are looking for something away from the highrise type accommodation in the city. The breakfast was a bit overpriced but convenient.
Review 75:location was perfect, it was quiet but central to everything. The bungalow was clean, and serviced each day.
Review 76:pricing is crazy but I did travel at peak time, there is construction on the main road so i was woken by machinery early morning (not Palms Fault)
Review 77:location is wonderful , you can walk to all the popular restaurants and bars . Parking is included in price if you request it. room had all that you need and bed was very comfortable.
Review 78:I like the location, stayed in a cabin this time. Particularly appreciate being walked to cabin by receptionist , it's easy to be confused or disoriented at 2 am after flight from Melbourne.
Review 79:Bed was too soft and uncomfortable. Cottages a bit cramped for two people with two suitcases. Insufficient space to cook with sink right next to bed. Bar down the street plays thumping music till late hours, though we were lucky as being a ways away from it, but must be bad for those next to it.
Review 80:Friendly and helpful staff; accommodating for late departure. Nice surroundings with lots of greenery, central location, and parklands. Swimming pool clean and very cool which is welcome after a hot day.
Review 81:Air conditioner was not working very well - seemed to be broken or not flowing properly.
Review 82:Great green spaces all around. Swimming pool. Free parking. Quiet
Review 83:Internet not working in or around our villa. Room a bit small
Review 84:Clean, good comfortable bed, close to town and Public Transport, prettytropical green surrounding the villas, giving some privacy
Review 85:Noisy, screening between bungalows didn't provide enough privacy especially when you are a non smoker.
Review 86:Loved the location and the staff were friendly and helpful. A great place for a quick stop over.
Review 87:Can be a bit of noise coming from the local hotel on Friday and Saturday nights.
Review 88:Great location, walk to Mitchell St and Smith St mall. Close to dining and entertainment options. Nice walk along the esplanade. Cosy little bungalows set in the tropical gardens.
Review 89:It is situated on the Esplanade from which one would think there should be good sea views, but the facility is only a couple stories high and there is too much in front to yield a good view.
Review 90:It is convenient to the CBD and most areas of historical interest
Review 91:No lift. For elderly people with heavy suitcases very difficult to get up stairs.
Review 92:The location was excellent, the staff were wonderful, always very helpful.
Review 93:No information in the room about services of the hotel. Shower leaked all over floor. Need to have more towel rails in the shower area.
Review 94:We liked the surrounds, eg. the tropical trees and plants, etc. closeness to the beach and restaurants, our stay was peaceful and we enjoyed the swing on our balcony. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Review 95:As Prepaid Booking. Com customer we were treated poorly. Requested 2 double rooms on ground floor months in advance and given one double and one twin single one downstairs and one upstairs both as far from reception as possible and nearest to next door hotels both with loud music and noise every night. Cleanliness of room was average at best.
Review 96:Location was good
Review 97:I arrived at night, the staff could have turned on the air conditioning, the room was uncomfortably hot when I arrived. I think the check out time of 10:00 am is way too early. The breakfast is way over priced for what is provided. The staff's attitude does not match the facilities, they act as if this is a cheap motel when the facilities are much better.
Review 98:Love the lush green landscaping and the octagonal villa and lots of windows. The whirlpool bad was fantastic. Beautiful swimming pool area on the development.
Review 99:Quiet location, close to town and restaurants. Attractive surroundings . Pool area particularly relaxing . Breakfast good selection in pleasant dining area .
Review 100:Didn't know I had to provide a voucher for breakfast until I was told when eating breakfast to go and get it.
Review 101:Proximity to CBD, step from room to pool and pool to breakfast. Even providing ice for your drinks.
Review 102:Walls are thin and we could hear people in adjoining unit. Also the standard of daily housekeeping was quite substandard.
Review 103:The pool and tropical surrounds.
Review 104:NO ICE IN THE COMUNITY FREEZER BUT WE CAN FORGIVE THAT
Review 105:LOCATION AND THE GARDEN SETTING SPACIOUS ROOMS AND ALTHOUGH IT IS OLDER THE ROOMS WERE COMEFORTABLE AND WELL KEPT. WOULD CERTAINLY RECOMEND IT
Review 106:Nice compact hotel well situated within Darwin. Lovely pool and garden area with seating outside many rooms. Very friendly staff. People mention a club which you can hear outside but from within our room we couldn't hear anything and slept peacefully.
Review 107:Not a great deal of parking in grounds however you can park outside ....there is loud music from the hotel on the corner but wasn't too late and we were far enough away
Review 108:Actually second stay and would return ..great position, atmosphere in tropical surrounds ,rooms with little kitchenette important ..some rooms updated ..our first wasn't this one was and was fresher..pool and staff very friendly....great place to return to after Top End trip
Review 109:No late check outs. Expensive breakfast. People in surrounding rooms able to smoke.
Review 110:The position of our room by the pool was good. I wouldn't want to be in any other room. Having a little deck to sit on and a small kitchenette was a bonus.
Review 111:Noisy hotel on Sunday night as my room was next to it People smoking outside my room on the balcony
Review 112:Access to a clean room with needed facilities, located conveniently and opposite a lovely park and view of the ocean air conditioning clean pool, tidy grounds, helpful reception staff, close to shops
Review 113:It is next to Hotel Darwin and on the weekend the loud music can be felt in the rooms. Worst shower head in the world. No free WIFI as advertised.
Review 114:Located close to the Darwin waterfront and CBD
Review 115:Parking is at a minimum. I had to wake up early before 8 to move my car so I wouldn't get a ticket for parking on the street. I would have liked to stay one more night at the Palms City resort however the last night that we wanted cost an extra $40 or something like that so we opted for a different place. Other than that a great place to stay.
Review 116:The staff were very helpful and the room and pool were A+++
Review 117:Only one key with 3 people in a room on check in no where to park while airport shuttle bus driver abuses you resulting in my car being scratched no face washer
Review 118:Location
Review 119:The lady at the counter was on the phone taking a booking but kept me standing there waiting to get into my room for at least ten to fifteen minutes
Review 120:Very nice rooms with a relaxed tropical garden setting
Review 121:I didn't likje that fact that I was only there one night. I will be back.
Review 122:Hard to say what was the best aspect of my stay. From the professional helpful staff at the check in to the quick friendly check out I was pleasantly surprised at every turn. The accommodation exceeded my expectation. This was the best stay I have had in Darwin to date.
Review 123:The band that played from midday and all night disturbed our afternoon rest and our nights sleep.
Review 124:Relaxing with everything we needed either provided by the resort or nearby.
Review 125:The smokers on our adjoining balcony made sitting on our balcony almost impossible. Perhaps a separate section could be allocated to smokers.
Review 126:Great position, helpful and friendly reception staff. Good swimming pool and reasonable rate.
Review 127:It's close to bars and pubs so a bit noisy if you've got a room on that side. Free wifi works only at reception.
Review 128:There is a nice pool, good location, 24 hour reception, free wifi (only at reception)
Review 129:Staff were very friendly and helpful..I loved the location it was in walking distant to the shopping mall and supermarket... Also to any tours they are located within walking distance... Will definitely be back
Review 130:Smell of smoke coming from the adjoining patio. Having lots of Louver windows in a hot environment the louvers are left open. The smell of cigarette smoke flows into your room. Non smokers rooms should be located together to overcome this.
Review 131:Location was ideal. Room was cosy.
Review 132:The staff were really kind. They let us leave luggage at the hotel while we went off on a 3 day camping trip and allowed us to use the hotel facilities when we came back in the afternoon while waiting for our night flight out of Darwin. Hotel is well-positioned, very clean and friendly.
Review 133:The fan in the room hadn't been cleaned in months and when turned off the dust was hanging in strings from it. The walls were thin as I could here the neighbours
Review 134:The bathroom and bedroom were exceptionally clean, had the fan been clean it would have been a perfect 10
Review 135:I TRUELY HAVE NO DISLIKES HERE BUT TGATS JUST ME..I ALWAYS TRY TO GET A ROOM HERE B4 EVERYWHERE ELSE . VERY TROPICAL FEELING AS APPOSED TO UR HIGHRISES. WHICH IN MY OPINION ARE VERY AVERAGE
Review 136:I JUST LOVE THE CABINS ..SELF CONTAINED IT GIVES YOU YOUR OWN FREEDOM TO COME AND GO AND COOK ON UR OWN BELCONY. CLOSE TO EVERYTHING IN TOWN . A MUST FOR TRAVELERS.
Review 137:Did not like the breakfast. Could have had a better selection of Cereals. The hash Browns were hard. In a Nutshell $23 was a lot of money for what was offered.
Review 138:Friendly helpful staff who made our stay more enjoyable.
