Reviews for Hotel Akropolis

Review 1:Very hard to find in the old part of town and narrow streets. Better to avoid staying in the old part.

Review 2:Old fashioned hotel. Must have had good years long time ago. Staff very helpful with parking and breakfast. Room o.k. Hotelroom and bathroom clean

Review 3:Difficult to find - very narrow lane turnoff from oneway - if you miss it you have to drive all the way around again. Shower was not working properly, reception advised they would get someone to look at it while we were out that evening, which they did but unfortunately made it worse & it was totally unusable in the morning!

Review 4:Clean, comfortable.

Review 5:Restaurant on the roof terrace was amazing, this is separate to the hotel, but reservations can be made at the Hotel reception. The price was very reasonable, the food and overall experience was amazing. The hotel concierge were very friendly, knowledgeable and excellent communicators in particular they were fluent in English. They would often recommend points of interest and things to do.

Review 6:Dinner in the restaurant was disappointing - food was ordinary and we got our side dishes (contorini) before our entrees (prima/pasta). When we asked the waiter he said that was correct and didn't understand enough English to take them away, and our Italian wasn't good enough either.

Review 7:The rooftop area had amazing views.

Review 8:Nothing

Review 9:Love the building. Staff very helpful/friendly. We were here beginning of the season. When the terrace restaurant/bar gets into full swing. A top spot to spend the evening.

Review 10:Much nicer than expected. Very traditional and super nice staff. Well located in the heart of things but not loud. Breakfast blew me away...excellent croissants, breads, cheeses, meats, yogurt, coffee, milk, juice...everything! Brought to my room on time upon request.

Review 11:Old town looks a little neglected but cross the second bridge..... Wow, the new town is very appealing.

Review 12:Clean . Wonderful English speaking staff. Caffe latte ; good Italian style breakfast.

Review 13:The hotel is located in a block that looks as though it has been bombed, but don't be put off: the area is really quite nice and very convenient.

Review 14:Location 5 minutes from the cathedral; good rooftop bar and restaurant; exceptionally friendly staff.

Review 15:Scary surroundings and access, we arrived at the hotel and decided to go away, we cannot say anything about services indoor, because the location's unsafe aspect was enough for us. The "parking" was a space among decadent and runned down buildings. We lost the whole amount of the stay, but go back safe home, and this is what matters.

Review 16:The area is VERY run down and some people might find it intimidating and dirty.

Review 17:Central location with free parking (although not easy). Festival going on in the local part of town which made everything interesting. Nice roof top terrace.

Review 18:Located in a characterful old part of the city, though you would need a detailed map or navigation system to locate the hotel the first time around. Room was spacious and nicely furnished. WiFi worked well. Evening dining on the rooftop was a pleasant experience.

Review 19:Location in the really old town is not for everyone but we liked it. Rooms are comfy and the rooftop teracce is great.

Review 20:Great breakfast, great staff, nice room

Review 21:10 € for a bottle of water,no ac in the room.

Review 22:Great view

Review 23:The surrounds of the old town are very run down, which is a shame as it could be so lovely

Review 24:The location for our purpose was perfect

Review 25:All good

Review 26:Everything: close to new city, situated in old historic centre. The food at night was the best we have had in Italy

Review 27:Dirty City, bad environment, the hotel standard did not match the deskription on bookin.com. You have to change it!

Review 28:Nothing!

Review 29:Very inviting room, good value for money,

Review 30:breakfast was only ok. location was very run down but very central.

Review 31:beautiful room. spotless.

Review 32:The view at night from the roof. It is central to old town but Taranto not a pretty town the Museum however is worth the visit.Staff very helpful and obliging breakfast fine.

Review 33:The Breakfast is poor. At 8:50 everything was empty. When we asked additional meal - staff told that they haven't. Only coffee and sugar. Even don't tell "Sorry".

Review 34:All, exclusive Breakfast.

Review 35:Taranto's old town is very dirty and seems unsafe. Basically looks like a bombed out section of a city.

Review 36:Nice hotel with excellent attentive personnel.

Review 37:The breakfast was really poor. The hotel is situated in the middle of the slums. Some of the stuff couldn't speak only italian language. The parking was a disaster.

Review 38:The building is nice from the inside.

Review 39:Unfortunately, the old city of Taranto is badly dilapidated, absolutely empty at night. It felt uncomfortable.

Review 40:The Akropolis is a well renovated old palace with carefully chosen details.

Review 41:Very pleasant hotel in the city center of Taranto. It is located in an old palazzo, but everything of the interior is restored to modern standards while maintaining its heritage. We stayed here for 2 nights. People at the hotel were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel owns a private garage where we were able to park our car for free.

Review 42:the bathroom wasn't clean. the cleaning must be better.

Review 43:Location, very friendly stuff, breakfast: fresh cakes, fruits, good coffee. The atmosphere: you are living in an antique city, the antique house. And the sight from the roof is just amazing.

Review 44:The old town neighborhood is frightening. This hotel is smack dab in the middle of crumbling building, rusted out scaffolding, broken windows. It looks uninviting and dangerous. I recommend that Taranto should be avoided if you are unfamiliar.

Review 45:the staff was very kind. It was great the way the owner told us about the history of the hotel and Taranto:perfect for a visit at the centr storico! You 'll have a great view on the roof/terrace!With nice weather you can have dinner outside:marvellous!!nice food and good wines for reasonable price!!We enjoyed it!!

Review 46:breakfast can be better with more choice ,and the restaurant opens a bit to late for my tast

Review 47:its a nice hotel with old and new togeheter ,room are clean and decant sice good working inet personal is frendly and english is quiet good

Review 48:Absolutely nothing

Review 49:The people there are more than helpful and very friendly. Beautiful palazzo very well organized. Excellent breakfast, served to the room if desired. It is in the middle of Taranto´s old town on the island - just a few minutes to the bars and restaurants at marina. There is a charming bar located in the cellar, lovely for your night cup.

Review 50:Fairly noisy but shutters helped minimise this.

Review 51:Close to the Easter processions which is why we went to Taranto. Staff obliging

Review 52:Nice small hotel in an interesting part of the old city.

Review 53:Location is poor. It's very hidden...

Review 54:The hotel is neat and safe.

Review 55:By car extremly difficult to reach. Parking a nightmare.

Review 56:Central location

Review 57:The location of the hotel, and the room. The room had no windows, a small and slightly shabby bathroom

Review 58:The staff of the hotel

Review 59:View of city from rooftop bar, and dining area. Good food

Review 60:Hard to find, as with all hotels in the old town

Review 61:Rooftop dining with view Good food

Review 62:The staff were super friendly and the location was very convenient

Review 63:Very friendly & helpful English speaking lady at reception.

Review 64:An excellent location with a great kitchen. We were pleased by the personal attention of the owner and the chef.
