Reviews for Hotel Arcen

Review 1:No staff on reception on arrival at 6pm (after driving 450 miles from England). Bar and Restaurant closed on Sunday. No key left for pre-booked Car Park - had to park on public Car Park 500 metres away. Quite disappointing as I had experienced positive previous visits.

Review 2:Lovely central location with adjacent Bars and Restuarants

Review 3:Lots of doors and corridors till we reached the room. A bit uncomfortable with 2 small kids. Very thin walls :)

Review 4:Beautiful little town. Very cosy hotel.

Review 5:The staff was not very welcoming and helpful There's no elevator

Review 6:Located on the beautiful old center ( who is very small, not much to do) and near to the water

Review 7:We booked the room many months ago for its location, as we were going to the Koi Show at the castle. On arrival the hotel looked dirty and was completely empty, we could not a did not see a single person, this should have been a warning as every other place in the high street was packed. We were given our room key and went to our room, where it was very hot and stuffy, there were no towels or toiletries at all in bathroom and it looked very dirty and dingy. I had asked for their best room, and also to have cold fizz on arrival. I didn't get the wine and if this was there best room I'm truly amazed. In short the place and room was so bad we did not even stay.

Review 8:We were very disappointed by the lack of eating/dining options. The location and surroundings are good but DO not reflect on what was actually sold to us A very romantic and very quiet place, after all to be fair!!!... Not for 2 chums+2smelly teens!!!

Review 9:A very comfy hotel BUT bare in mind that you will have to spend A LOT of £€ on food!!! Considering that from Sunday, the village's owner(s) shuts pretty much all his/their restaurants, bars, cafés, leaving with well NO choice than the resto downstairs or (if you are lucky enough the "Tapas restaurant"!!! Enough...!!! Unless you are ready to pay the local top £££€€€€ for POOR value for money... Service is disappointing throughout... There's always the good old Spar!!! Not going back... We'll be staying over in Germany next time we travel back to Nan!!! Please note though, that the hotel receptionists (multi-tasking, competent yet fairly exhausted) were v. helpful, hard working and dedicated BUT the rest of the package just calls you for a quick and quiet exit...

Review 10:Staff were uninterested in the guests, had no communication skills and did not interact even with the guest who spoke the same language.

Review 11:Mark the owner, A1 customer service.

Review 12:Best Price. Best Location. Nice rooms

Review 13:Its get noise a little from the next room

Review 14:Not much

Review 15:Nothing :-)

Review 16:Very Helpfull staff. Great food at the restaurant. Great family rooms and a lovely location

Review 17:Good service, location, breakfast

Review 18:not conditioner, room was too hot

Review 19:Beautiful terrace, friendly staff

Review 20:nothing

Review 21:surroundings are beautifull, nicely situated on the main square with plenty places for dinner. The family room is incredible value for money.

Review 22:also the restaurant is very good

Review 23:we skip breakfast, becuase it was expensive

Review 24:very good value for money. it´s our second time, same place, going to the arcen thermal waters

Review 25:Nothing

Review 26:Location food

Review 27:Lot of old people

Review 28:River Maas Castle Arcen Naturepark Maasduinen

Review 29:Dinner was poor and average. Some items of the menu were not available. Choice of draught beers too limited.

Review 30:Staff was very kind

Review 31:Food prices. Far, far exceeding the value.

Review 32:Position.

Review 33:Stairways a bit twisting and winding. Ok for the nimble traveler

Review 34:Staff friendliness. Quiet location.

Review 35:Location

Review 36:Hard to find from directions.

Review 37:Good location.

Review 38:We couldnt find the address - the name of hotel was hidden behind trees and foil ;-) Reception was working only till 10PM.

Review 39:Lovely location in a quiet village, close to bus stop, terrace by the river and generally - in a heart of the place. Huge room with comfortable beds, hot water for all of our four and helpful staff. Easy check-in, easy check-out :-) Very good price!

Review 40:the hotel lost our reservation but provided us with a room for the same price as was reserved after. not sure if there is an elevator in the hotel and our room was located on the 3rd floor.

Review 41:the staff was helpful. we arrived when the kitchen was closed already but the staff still found some food for us.

Review 42:The only bad points I could point out was the shower head detached from the hose but I fixed it in the end and the stairs was a bit of a pain to carry luggage up and down

Review 43:friendly and welcoming staff, it was very close to the event that I went to, lovely spacious room, free wifi.

Review 44:The hotel has changed in the last few years in that the Staff are not sofriendly as before they were always courteous & helpful. Thebreakfast was very poor and very expensive. There was no method ofcooling our room even though the temperature was 35c at times. Ourevening meal took over 45 mins to arrive after ordering, people weregetting up and leaving. We ate in the Alt Arce restaurant the eveningbefore and the food and service were excellent.

Review 45:We like the hotel as it is a good stop-over on our journey from Germanyto the ferry in France. We have used it many times in the past Ten yearsbut this time will probably be the last as we were disappointed with theStaff attitude and service.

Review 46:- There is a night club right below the hotel, without no noise isolation. This means you cannot sleep before 4am!- old bedroom and facilities - breakfast is very poor

Review 47:- Location is very central on the village- good restaurant

Review 48:The room needed another lamp. The only place I could read at night was in bed. I stayed here last year, when the breakfast was better and the price a bit lower.

Review 49:A quiet, spacious and clean room, located nicely in a lovely village.

Review 50:The location was a very nice surprise, because we had never been there. When we arrived my husband and I joked that maybe we should just stay in the town and vacation right there. We were actually going to Floriade 2012 and than off to the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam. However if we ever get a chance to go back we will book at this hotel again. The price is very good and the staff are very kind. It doesn't include a breakfast, but they do serve one. That is why I rated this one a 9 out of 10.

Review 51:The hotel was spotlessly clean with nice size rooms, the staff were so friendly and helpful and the restaurant food and menu was excellent. The location could not be better, right in the centre of the village, a very pretty place. We will definitely be going back for a longer stay.

Review 52:Room was dark, net curtain was dusty not pleasant. shower curtain not adequate so floor got wet,

Review 53:Breakfast choice was good. reasonable hotel for price paid.

Review 54:Good location near Floriade. Good clean room. Breakfast was outstanding , all was there including smoked salmon. We would definitly stay here again. Their restaurant for diner is also recommendable and reasonably priced.

Review 55:Charges for cancellation if less than two days.

Review 56:Large sized family room and allowing us to book in 4 hours early and book out late. Also allowed us to keep our luggage in another room before we caught our taxi to the Airport. Great quality breakfast with real orange juice and filtered coffee. Excellent quality food in the hotel restaurant in the evening. They booked our taxi for our return to the Airport.

Review 57:The rooms are a little tired and being on the main square is a little noisey but that was managed. We stayed on the hottest weekend yet and luckily we had a fan in the room, our friends did not. The hot water is hot and we felt it should have had a warning sign, especially for kids! No lift but they did put us at the top of the stairs, we have a disabled member of the party. This was not made clear in the booking area of the website.

Review 58:We have seen the hotel on our many trips to Arcen as it is opposite the ice cream palour! So hence our decision to stay at the hotel. Very polite and courteous staff and good breakfast selection. Free hotel parking was good and behind the hotel. All in all a good stay at the hotel.

Review 59:No real private relaxation area eg. lounge. ? because emphasis is 'el fresco' approach. Tendency for staff to spend time clearing and preparing for next day's clientelle when guests were still dining and having to wait to order or receive their next course, for excessive periods eg 15minutes +

Review 60:Staff were friendly always smiling. food was good and plentiful. Room cleanliness was very good.

Review 61:Could be a problem for some people that the walls are quite thin, but wecertainly have no complaints about our stay at Hotel Arcen.

Review 62:The room was comfortable and clean, the location was excellent. We sleptdownstairs and the children slept upstairs, the bathroom was alsoupstairs. We went to Floriade which was a 10 minute drive from thehotel. The castle was 2 mins away, nice restaurants locally. Make sureyou try the ice cream cafe, Clevers, just across the road next to theriver. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, so I can't comment on that, but we did have dinner there one evening and it was very nice.

Review 63:The hotel is located in the centre of a lovely village, within 50m ofthe river Maas. Very good breakfast and good choice of alternate diningdue to the central location. Staff were welcoming. Great position forvisiting Floriade 2012.

Review 64:Coffee machine in bar shut at 10 pm and unable to put drinks on hotel bill after 10 pm due to computer "shutdown". No coffee/tea facilites in room. Available in corridor at extra cost. Hotel adequate for a short stay

Review 65:We chose Hotel Arcen as being close by for Floriade Garden Festival. Hotel in pleasant location with good bus service to the main town of Venlo if you are visiting the Garden Festival. Many pleasant restaurants in Arcen

Review 66:It would have been nice to have a kettle in the room with the necessaryrequirements to make your own coffee or tea, instead of the dispensingmachine where you had to pay for a cup of late night coffee

Review 67:We had a lovely stay at hotel Arcen, situated in a charming littlevillage next to the river Maas. It was easy to visit the Floriade fromhere by bus, along a scenic route through the countryside to Venlo andfrom there you can take the shuttle bus to the Floriade. The rooms wereclean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. There is agreat little bakery just over the road for an early morning breakfastand a variety of freshly baked cakes and rolls

Review 68:We chose the hotel for its connection to Floriade 2012, but it tookthree members of staff to get any information about this major event. The website spoke about having tickets available but there were none. Webooked a table for an evening meal but nobody knew about it. Therestaurant doesn't normally open on Mondays but they decided to open for3 Mondays while there were visitors to and from Keukenhof and Floriadebut I can only think the normal chef was not on duty as the meals wereof poor quality, The desserts bore no resemblence to what we ordered andthe service was very slow. It was obvious that when the restaurant re-opened on the next night things were different, but we chose to eat inanother local restaurant. The shower was very hot and dangerous, don'tget in the shower until you have mixed the water you will get burnt.Watch out for the shower curtain blowing out and sending water all overthe floor and the flood goes under the door into the room. The outsidearea to the car park was very rough and littered with celophane fromcigarette packets and generally very untidy and unusual for Hollandwhich is very clean and tidy.

Review 69:Its central location in the town Free parking Beds and pillowscomfortable Plenty of storage

Review 70:Unfortunately it's quite easy to hear the neighbors. Sometimes I couldhear the T.V./telephone conversations from the room next door.

Review 71:I was pleasantly surprised when I entered the hotel. Upon driving up,someone met us there to tell us where to park and offer to help withbags. The receptionist was very friendly and informative. The hotel room(familiekamer) was more than adequate for grandpa, grandma, mom, a 5year old, and a baby. The hotel sits in a charming town with beautifulviews. We weren't far from Venlo. I'm happy with my experience there.

Review 72:We thoroughly enjoyed this hotel. Arcen is a beautiful town and thehotel is located in the center with a lovely square that has outdoorseating and great food. The staff was very welcoming and the room wasclean and comfortable.

Review 73:Never saw anybody from the Hotel, Reception closed on arrival at 9.30 inthe evening. Difficulty contacting person, Fortunatley I had mobilephone, if not would dhave been difficult. Left Hotel at 7.30 am to getto meeting, still no reception. Breakfast not till 7.30 so this is nogood for business traveller.

Review 74:Our scheduled arrival was after midnight but the staff had our room ready and left us a note by the front door. My kids said the town square in front of the hotel looked and felt like Disneyland!© Great little place.

Review 75:Breakfast was full of veriety and the location was great!

Review 76:Small room, very dark lighting

Review 77:location, good food in Restaurant.

Review 78:very cold room

Review 79:the village

Review 80:bed was not comfortable

Review 81:Cosy hotel, very nice family room, lovely small town. Nice restaurants and bakery.

Review 82:Stuff was great, the room lovely, and the "smart deal" we got fromBooking.com was unbeatable! I hope to return to Arcen hotel

Review 83:Hotel located in the center of the pretty town. It is very comfortable. There are many restoraunts nearby.

Review 84:The room could have been cleaner and needs a lick of paint

Review 85:Location was good but it was late autumn so a bit quiet

Review 86:Stairs

Review 87:Location, Service and Price

Review 88:Hotel was efficient and well located, however advertises the rooms have a terrace bit this is actually a view of the terrace.

Review 89:You could hear all your neighbors, all night.

Review 90:No in room tea/coffee making facility.

Review 91:A very nice hotel.

Review 92:Heel klein dorpje, niet echt veel winkels.

Review 93:hele goede locatie! En vriendelijke mensen, toplocatie om fietsen te huren!!

Review 94:would have liked a slightly bigger choice on menu

Review 95:The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the food was very good

Review 96:The location.

Review 97:steep stairs no eleveator problem with a luggage and for people with walking difficulty.

Review 98:Hotel is nice and the stuff is friendly and helpfull

Review 99:Hotel with nice character, possibility of late check-in, Very quiet, good parking. Charming town.
