Reviews for Pacific Hotel Cairns

Review 1:Not particular thing, but Bushfire, the restaurant, was not so delicious as expected.

Review 2:The hotel is located at the center of the Cairns; anywhere you go, it is convenient.

Review 3:Nothing in the minibar, calling the helpdesk only an automatic answering machine even more than 30 min no contact available

Review 4:Near to the marina, excellent location, hotel and rooms perfectly maintained, Good aircondition, good WiFi

Review 5:We had some difficulty with the room safe, but we were assisted right away.

Review 6:The corner room we were given was very striking with its floor to ceiling windows overlooking the harbor.

Review 7:Windows seemed to have single glazing so could occasionally hear the cars and busses pass by at night time - was woken up a couple of times.

Review 8:Great location, ok WiFi connection, very close to the Reef Terminal and the Esplanade, good restaurants close by, overall very happy with our stay.

Review 9:A little noisy when keeping the window open.

Review 10:The location, right on the Esplanade and across the Casino + a few minutes walk from all the shopping and restaurants. Staffs were friendly and helpful. Central AC, great views. Great breakfast.

Review 11:Nothing

Review 12:The location was great, close to the water front and boats going out to the reef, and loads of eating places and the town. Service courteous, rooms clean and adequate

Review 13:Towels were not available to use on day excursions.

Review 14:The location was excellent! It was within walking distance to the harbor boats and restaurants. The hotel's restaurant had a very good breakfast buffet.

Review 15:My Husband slipped on the driveway which was wet from the rain. The concrete was like glass, even though there were signs on the concrete they were faded and we were not looking down. He injured his bad knee, lucky we had pain killers, but it could have been much worse.

Review 16:excellent location, staff very friendly and helpful. we were given 50% discount vouchers for our buffet breakfast for each day of our stay, this made a good start to our day, not having to go out and look for somewhere to have breakfast, as the 50% off really made it good value.

Review 17:The staff.. Extremely hospitable! The location.. The hotel is situated right next to the marina and is ideal for your visit to the Great Barrier Reef.. There are other hotels located in the same area..but this one would be absolutely value for money!

Review 18:Noise during the night- from other guests! ie slamming of doors, running in hallway. One night only, glad when they left :)

Review 19:Very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble, very prompt with requests.

Review 20:Awesome pillows and service by staff was absolutely terrific and the fact that the hotel was a short walk to the night market and cairns centrals was absolutely beneficial

Review 21:Terrific Location close to everything. Staff was very warm and friendly and went out of their way to make sure our stay was exceptional. Luggage storage was a plus.

Review 22:A staff broke into my room without knocking the door right after I just checked in and put down my luggage. I was shocked! What if I was a lady and was at a shower? I complained with the reception desk and they told me to hang the "Do not disturb" sign on the door. Anyway that was very impolite!

Review 23:Free wifi speed is nice, could be over 1Mb/s on 9th floor. Bacony view with Casino and a corner of sea, perfect location to the sea and Woolworths!

Review 24:Very clean, great views, right on the main esplanade, friendly staff, everything in good working order. We had room 1002 which I highly recommend. It was one of the corner rooms with the L balcony. This was 2nd top floor which was just great for the views and the breeze, not so noisy. I think they call these rooms the deluxe ones. They cost a little extra but I feel well worth the expense.

Review 25:The bath bath was to small to lay and relax in. Thats about it for negatives.

Review 26:We were surprised we got the top floor with lovely views over the city and ocean. Room was clean and staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Review 27:The room is clean but basic The twin beds pulled together are not as comfortable as you expect for such a hotel. The vinyl covering in the bathroom is visually deceptive and there is a lip on the floor such is disguised by the vinyl covering and causes people to trip.

Review 28:The hotel is well located Close to all facilities Near the city The car park is easily accessed The foyer is basic but works well The staff were helpful but not too much in your face.

Review 29:The views were amazing from our high floor! The room was a good size for two girls! The restaurant downstairs was really good, but best to book an early table so you can make the most of it.

Review 30:There was road works being carried out at 3am in the morning on the night we were there.

Review 31:The location was fantastic. Walking distance to everything in town.

Review 32:Breakfast was overpriced... mostly ate away from the hotel. A little noise from the park, but not too bad.

Review 33:The location was great for all activities around Cairns.

Review 34:only blanket available,no comforter provided.

Review 35:the position is really good, just 5mins walk the reef terminal and closer to a supermarket. free wifi available in the room.

Review 36:The bath tub was extremely small which was disappointing as it would have been nice to use it - but it could barely fit one person. As the bath was small, the shower wasn't much better above it. There was also a terrible shower head that produced a poor flow of water! Frustrating but not the end of the world.

Review 37:We got a great view over the park and ocean, with a nice size room and comfortable bed. We had everything we needed and the staff were very helpful.

Review 38:Nice room with plenty of space, although to achieve a top rating the hotel needs updating. The hotel breakfast is good value if you wake up hungry. Great location for the centre of town and the cruise terminal

Review 39:The location was central and close to where I was attending a conference. The staff were friendly and helpful. carried my suitcase up and down the steps. The view of the mountains and harbour was great. The best point was the comfortable bed. i will definitely return to this hotel

Review 40:Rooms are very "average", not really 4* level.. They are clean and everything works, but they just have an oldish feeling, so don't expect a wow effect when you walk in

Review 41:Very convenient location to access ferries and get picked up for tours (e.g., Kuranda), not so pricey given location

Review 42:For all the balcony space, two plastic chairs picked up at Bunnings for $7 each is not our idea of appropriate hotel furnishings for a deluxe room. Even a small side table would have been nice for the balcony....assuming it was also plastic, and had blown off. The bathroom is also old and tired, the space could be refurbished much better. TV was awful. Could not keep a clear screen for more than 6 seconds, before the screen and the sound would cut out for a moment, then repeat every 6-8 seconds. No paid TV options, or movie options, was also very poor for the price paid per evening.

Review 43:Location was fabulous. Wonderful views, short distance to everything we needed, right in the heart of the city. Loved the smell and sound of the ocean too. Also a very large and spacious room, wonderful king size bed, and the balcony size was very generous.

Review 44:None at all

Review 45:Great location, very clean and comfortable allowing for ability to conduct business and work in a good atmosphere and with good facilities.

Review 46:Room was feeling a bit old and tired. It is at the high end of price for what you get.

Review 47:Nice outlook, staff is always nice. You can walk out through the park and get a coffee or whatever morning and night. I have stayed here before and would stay again. If you get the larger rooms on the higher floors they are really roomy with great views.

Review 48:We had a corner room near the park which got a little noisy when there were performances. The building itself is a little tired. But overall quite comfortable.

Review 49:The rooms were spacious. The staff was extremely kind and helpful in all situations. We ended up extending our stay at this location because of the staff and location.

Review 50:All good.

Review 51:Loved this quintessentially Australian hotel in the best position in town. Big rooms, terrific breakfast, great holiday restaurant and the park, marina, eateries, swimming lagoon, casino, all on your doorstep. Not as new as some but better in many ways. Great friendly staff. Wouldnt stay anywhere else.

Review 52:Bath was too small and carpet dirty. Smell of smoke eventhough it was a non smoking room.

Review 53:Centrally located to shops, food outlets and other entertainment places.

Review 54:The card to my room stopped working everyday. Had to visit the desk and on most occasions there was no-one there to help me. On two occasions I had to wait 5 minutes or more for service.

Review 55:Great location - Clean and well appointed rooms.

Review 56:I do not like places who use booking.com to add credit and debt card charges. The price that is advertised is what it should be

Review 57:The location is excellent.

Review 58:Onl thing I can fault is you may need to buy more sturdy chairs for balcony. They were a little flimsy.

Review 59:Everything was great.Location and most of all PRICES. I'm always looking for a bargain.

Review 60:King bed 'join' in the middle - kept rolling into this and wasn't comfy. Would prefer simple Queen :)

Review 61:Location, balcony views, open, light-filled and spacious layout.

Review 62:My room faced the main street so it was a little noisy. But that was the only issue. (It did offer a nice view though.)

Review 63:The location in regards to the Promenade and Reef Terminal was great! My room was also perfectly fine. A little outdated, but served its purpose. It did have a mini fridge which was great so I was able to buy yogurt and fruit for breakfast at the Woolworths by the hotel and it saved me a lot of money! :)

Review 64:It was a bland hotel, noisy at night, with no lobby bar/cafe, and it had no wow factor

Review 65:Good location, free off street car parking (although space was not always available, free WiFi and pay laundry.

Review 66:Bit noisy from street below and room next door, staff not overly friendly, kept losing power to half of the room due to someone else using too many electrical appliances.

Review 67:Good location, great view from deluxe room.

Review 68:not four star. We booked a double but at 7pm they ran out and gave us a twin next to the lift. Very loud. Also apparently the fire alarm goes off if you take a hot shower!?!

Review 69:Location is good. Right next to pontoons.

Review 70:No bad experiences but feel they need a exhaust fan in the bathroom

Review 71:Staff were very friendly & helpful & the position was excellent especially when you don't have a car, although no body seemed to know that there is a local bus that takes you to Kanundra which we were told about before we left home but couldn't find anything about it

Review 72:wind rattled balustrade all night and noise from street could be intrusive but these relate to the age of the building more so than a bad experience

Review 73:great corner location and large comfortable room with large comfortable bed. Walking distance to everything. Enjoyed dinner at hotel restaurant.

Review 74:There was one packet of portion control biscuits left in the room that was open. I would have liked better soaps and shampoos, some shave gel and some toothpaste - but I guess I would have had to pay a little more to get that. The beds had no doonas - only some fairly old blankets but that didn't really worry me as it was warm.

Review 75:The dining experience, the breakfast, the cleanliness, the organisation, the friendly, helpful, enthusiastic attitude of the staff.

Review 76:The room faced Casino, not sea-view. One day the housekeeping was poorly-done. Even forgot to empty the trash bin!

Review 77:Great location, close to lagoon. Free wifi was just ok, not too fast.

Review 78:Nothing!

Review 79:From the minute we checked in at reception with Donie,we noticed what a nice hotel we were checking into.We were lucky enough to receive an upgrade which meant we stayed in a suite rather than the usual double room.It was a,lovely surprise. The room was stunning, view of the mountains and there was useful laundry services on our floor. We also used the pool before we checked out, quiet and very clean. Would love to revisit this hotel.

Review 80:King bed was 2 twins pushed together, made for a somewhat uncomfortable sleep. Bizarre sings in the room warning about this and that - close the door when showering or the fire alarm will go off and you will be fined! - fair enough, but don't put the sign on the bathroom mirror. A bit of mild around the bathtub.

Review 81:Location is close the the esplanade.

Review 82:The hotel lobby looked amazing but the rooms were pretty dated with 2 single beds pushed together for the "queen room" and an old bathroom.

Review 83:The location was great - right at the waterfront for restaurants and the marina. Staff were great! We could park our car in the car park for free too. We went to the restaurant for dinner which was nice too.

Review 84:The Wi-Fi was slow. The room was exposed to a lot of street noise - some type of soundproofing would have been nice.

Review 85:The location near the esplanade is very handy. The quality of the rooms and staff was top-notch. Got a free upgrade also.

Review 86:A lot of traffic noise starting from earlier than 6:00 am. In addition, the cleaning staff started very early and the room doors are super loud too.I guess generally noisy compared to what I'm used to. One woman at check in was very friendly, but no one else seemed to make an effort to personalize the experience.

Review 87:Location is great and facilities were pretty good. The pool is nice.

Review 88:Cleanliness could've been better but was immediately rectified by hotel staff so no real complaints.

Review 89:Excellent location, comfortable rooms, good room service, attentive staff.

Review 90:Wifi quite slow

Review 91:A staff who took his initiative to help raise the score. Other staffs are willing to help as well. It locates next to Esplanade (close to Esplanade Lagoon and night life) and Marlin Marina Port (where to depart for trips at Green Island or Great Barrier Reef, or sunset cruise).

Review 92:My room was a little tired and the facilities basic. A credit card surcharge was added to the bill and processed without notice.

Review 93:Location was great, and the arrival foyer has style. My room was adequate and a reasonable size.

Review 94:Staff were pleasant and helpful. Enjoyed the Churrasco dining experience. As a former Cairns resident from the 1940's and '50's, I feel that the high esteem in which this hotel's predecessor, the Strand Hotel, was held, has carried over to its latest manifestation.

Review 95:I find the rooms to have a damp odour. I also had issues with the shower, however the room was cheap and I only stayed a night.

Review 96:The staff were very friendly and helpful! Great location!

Review 97:Poor instructions in room, re hotel contact details (reception, restaurant, etc) and internet connection. Internet connection portal not workable on iPad.

Review 98:Friendly and helpful staff. Good views,

Review 99:The male check in person could have greeted us better than he did. We may not have looked the part after having just back from 5 days in Daintree and Cooktown but a 'how are you?' would have been good.

Review 100:Very central to everything in Cairns - no need for a car.

Review 101:Everything was great no complaint

Review 102:Location and view was great The facility was really clean and nicely finished Rodrigo John And James on Front desk/reception also dedicated to customer service They live up to the owners motto of really serving the customer Cleaning Staff works to perfection also

Review 103:The Pacific Hotel Cairns is ideally located on the Esplanade close to absolutely everything. My room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable, the air conditioning was terrific, and the added bonus was the small balcony. The fully cooked buffet breakfast was delicious. The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. All in all, a fabulous place to stay.

Review 104:Excellent value for money. Rooms are great, bathrooms are aged but ok. Buffet breakfast was amazing (hotel customers get discount) Good parking & good location. Would definitely stay again!

Review 105:the noise from the street at 4.00am was annoying ,but it was anzac day, so i will forgo that.

Review 106:very clean & close to everything. only i left my pillow behind.

Review 107:Good location with easy access to the centre of Cairns and the waterfront. We used this one as it was close to the harbour where we had to board a cruise on the Great Barrier Reef.

Review 108:The single bedroom apartment is a white box that feels very stuffy. It has a window but it is only half size and positioned almost above eye level so you really feel like your in a padded cell. All the single bedrooms are configured this way. The Internet is not usable. It loads at an incredibly slow speed and things like gmail will timeout before loggin in. I raised my concerns with the front desk they were happy to hear my concerns but not able or willing to help. I couldn't handle the padded cell room so I upgraded to the other side of the building which is the two bedroom apartment, it has a nice view if on a high floor. However this is not good value for money.

Review 109:Booking asking for any room request which was not fulfilled or explained this service was not available. That would have been additional courtesy to stay

Review 110:Location excellent Did not order breakfast, thought it was great to be offered, put in a request but was not given or explanation why! Should not be asked at booking when not fulfilled Otherwise a very enjoyable stay will recommend & stay again

Review 111:The restaurant is a little disappointing.

Review 112:James helped me check in. He is professional, friendly, and very helpful. I'd definitely recommend this hotel fellow travelers.

Review 113:The Hotel , you can't get a drink from the bar or a coffee until 5:30 each afternoon, can't buy chips ext for a snack, found this disapointing as you would come back in from a day out and nothing to buy and as it was very hot outside, no Aircon, in the lift or Hall ways.

Review 114:Enjoyed our stay in Cairns, great spot for a Hotel, easy access to all around.

Review 115:Bokked a room with two beds but found that reception had trouble finding one. No mini bar facilities.

Review 116:Excellent location, very clean and well refurbished.

Review 117:The toilet looks a little bit old but still good to use!

Review 118:The room is very clean and every day the cleaners make up the room. The bed is very comfortable and the space is quite good. The most important is the good luck cation and nice staff!!!

Review 119:Room keys didn't work on 2 occasions and staff made as if it was my fault. BUT WORSTOF ALL was the fact I couldn't get a cup of coffee after 10:00pm -------- oh and there is no mini bar in the room ---but you can order a pick and mix ------- not very classy for a high star hotel

Review 120:Great location Amazing view -- room on top floor corner Very clean and very comfortable

Review 121:nothing , cairns is a great place to visit.

Review 122:hotel location great for cruise terminal and ferry terminal out to the barrier reef, did great barrier reef and cape tribulation tour , plenty of places near hotel to eat. hotel clean , wi fi access good, staff helpful when required but we were out for most of the days

Review 123:No foxtel and the WiFi very slow

Review 124:Loved the location the cleanness of the hotel out of this world the staff so professional I was really surprised and very happy with my stay

Review 125:price is still a little high, due to in the peak season. Receptionist gets off work after working hours, and one day the house keeper forgot to close the door after cleaning the room.

Review 126:location is pretty good, opposite to Casino across one street, 5 minutes walk to the harbour for crusier to the Reef, you can walk to woolworths and other shops very conveniently. On a higher floor with a sea/harbour view, it's a wonderful experience.

Review 127:No bar fridge and drinks in the restaurant were on the expensive side. Breakfast prices were a bit expensive.

Review 128:Proximity to eateries and bars - nice views. The pool was well located and private.

Review 129:On checking in an imprint was made as pre authorisation on my credit card given at the time of booking and against my instructions it was charged. It became a complete mess up as I wanted to use my other card which was for business. Could have easily been rectified but ....

Review 130:Location was great. Hotel parking was available. Definitely not 5 star but good value for money.

Review 131:As stated in the previous question room allocation. I suffer with a fear of height and our room was located on the eleventh floor.

Review 132:Did not enjoy stay, as I have a fear of height and our room was located on the eleventh floor.

Review 133:Outside the traffic lights and the traffic noise was pretty loud on a Friday night. The guy in the morning was a bit unhappy. Not a big problem but we joked that he'd either had a big night on the booze or was just about to finish shift.

Review 134:A very reasonable price in a central location.

Review 135:Wi fi was very difficult to obtain, because of that time of the year.

Review 136:Lovely view of the esplanade. Very close to all amenities dining and attractions.

Review 137:There was absolutely nothing that we didn't like. However for your feedback - (we were on holidays so didn't require WiFi but realise most people would. Would have liked to have a microwave for snacks but realise that is what the in room serviceis for.)

Review 138:Position - everything within walking distance, shops, restaurants, markets, esplanade, marina, excellent views of city, harbour & fireworks NYE. Staff were soooo helpful they were excellent. Only had one meal at the restaurant but enjoyed that. Would stay there again and recommend to anyone. Returned for son's 44th Birthday & invited friends to join us. Had a great time.
