Reviews for Hotel Taiko
Review 1:We had to circle this building 3 times before deciding is was not abandoned. The exterior is a jaundiced yellow with black stains everywhere and broken and boarded up windows. The interior is even more depressing, reminiscent of a crappy dorm building. It smells of bad food and wet carpet. We walked into our room hoping to be surprised but it was as we expected; tired, beat-up and unimpressive. The views were nice though. We ate the price of the first two nights and stayed elsewhere.
Review 2:Worst breakfast ever. We have stayed in many hotels in Japan over the years. This one one gets 1 out of 10. Our friends stayed across the road. We were invited for breakfast on the last day. Will be going there on our next visit.
Review 3:See above
Review 4:This hotel is run down and needs a make over. The hotel is smoking friendly with smoking areas located at the doors of the hotel lifts, so even if you don't smoke you feel like and you smell like you do. There was no ventilation in the toilet, with limited hot water and little to no water pressure for showering (had to use the onsen every time I needed to shower). There was no drinking water available in the hotel rooms unless what was in the kettle or in the fridge which never got replaced at all during our 5 day stay. Overall I would say it was good but not fabulous.
Review 5:It was great to have a indoor/outside onsen in the hotel, buffet breakfast was lovely and the rooms are spacious. We were lucky enough to get a great view and the Japanese staff tried their best to help you.
Review 6:1. Reeking cigarette smoke throughout ( the smokers aren't confined to a smoking room in the lobby . They smoke in on a "Designated couch".2. Dirty uniforms of the front staff : stained ++ 3. At the far end of the village down a short hill 4.Stains on the carpet in the rooms. Peeling laminate . Rubberised scratch marks through the room. Damaged wallpaper and frosted plastic on the windows. THIS PLACE OBVIOUSLY HAS BEEN LET GO BY ITS OWNERS. Surprisingly expensive . But surprisingly popular amongst the young Ja[anese crowd.
Review 7:The large Onsen. Breakfast. Pickup for free and delivery to the localrailway station.
Review 8:The hotel does need a refurbishment.
Review 9:The view is worth a million dollar. The open air Onsen is great. The staff have a strong care factor and are exceptional in service delivery. Ease of access to ski facilities.
Review 10:It's much older than the photos on the website. Not a big deal. The whole area looks a bit tired. Also, a bit of of a walk to the ski slope.
Review 11:Personally picked up and dropped off at the train station. Loved the outdoor onsen.
Review 12:Only negatives for us were. The hot water barely ran. However we were on the top floor and our friends on floor below had no problems.
Review 13:Good buffet breakfast which runs till 9am if a sleep in is needed. The free shuttle to and from the train station was handy. Easy walk to two ski fields and the bus stop for the other mountains was a 5 min walk. The snow was amazing we have spent two seasons in hukuba and the variety of ski fields and conditions was superior at myoko kogan. The staff were overly accommodating even collecting a injured friend from the mountain taking him to gp and picking him back up. I'm sure this saved some huge charge for an ambulance. Great place allowing for a relaxing stress free trip.
Review 14:Smoking in the hotel! Stay our of East Wing, it's stinky.
Review 15:Size of room (it's more like a suite). Distict Japanese traditional decor.
Review 16:Room and onset
Review 17:Central location Good facilities Onsen Almost ski inn/out
Review 18:Bed was uncomfortable
Review 19:Onsens i could share with my hubby
Review 20:Bedding on floor Open bathroom
Review 21:Size of rooms
