Reviews for Marulivo Hotel
Review 1:This is a spectacular beautifully restored hotel set high above the sea in the vibrant town of Pisciotta. Charming rooms, great bathrooms, immaculately kept with a huge terrace with absolutely stunning views. And breakfast was terrific and the service and hosts absolutely charming. In a word: WOW!
Review 2:We enjoyed everything about our stay. Lea and Massimo were kind and attentive. Lea especially was concerned that my wife, seven-months pregnant at the time, would be able to sleep comfortably on a bed that was a bit firm and low to the ground. She offered as many pillows as my wife needed and later moved us to a different room with a bed set up to be more comfortable. We enjoyed their recommendations for local restaurants, and we took their advice about the best nearby beaches. The hotel itself is well kept, with modern fixtures, careful attention to detail and a terrace with a sweeping overlook. Pisciotta and the Cilento coast are lovely. I'm glad we visited in early September, a month after most Italians go on vacation, as the crowds were smaller and more manageable but the weather still warm enough to swim. We would definitely return to Marulivo.
Review 3:We had a very pleasant stay at the beautiful located Hotel Marulivo. The owners are very friendly and always up to help. We stayed firstly in the apartment and then moved into the main house. Both have a beautiful view over the bay. We strongly recommend to come here and maybe we are lucky to come back one day!
Review 4:A wonderful location in the middle of a truly iconic small town. The hosts who make you feel as if they were your best friends, ready to advise you on the nearby sites, beaches, restaurants, etc. We stayed at one of the separate apartments, beautifully designed, with a spectacular view on the seashore. The hotel itself also looks like a great location.
Review 5:The hotel is in a wonderful location in Pisciotta village. Everything is outstanding at Marulivo and Massimo and Lea are great hosts. I would recommend Mariluvo to everyone. Clarissa
Review 6:Could not fault a thing.
Review 7:One of the highlights of our trip!! The hotel owner is an absolute gentleman who would do anything to make your stay magical! The room had an amazing view and the hotel is perfectly located in the centre of the town. The terrace bar/ breakfast area is amazing. Highly recommend! Couldn't praise this hotel enough!
Review 8:We stayed in one of the hotel's lovely apartments, which are a short walk from the hotel. The apartment had gorgeous views from its private terrace and offered lots of space and privacy. The owners were very accommodating and helpful. Overall, the hotel is superb value and a great base to explore this wonderful region. The town is also very nice - it is mostly pedestrian and is relaxing and not too touristy.
Review 9:Local roads are horrendous, access to the hotel is very restricted. We would not return to the area. in our view beds are too hard
Review 10:The owners were a delight, extremely helpful and spent a lot of time with us and could not have been nicer. The view from the terrace is spectacular.
Review 11:The view, the cozy room amid unique and ancient architecture, the location in a very quaint, ordinary but beautiful/historic city (and near beaches and interesting coastline), the breakfast (excellent), the roof terrace and other terraces, and the helpfulness of Massimo and Lea.
Review 12:It is a very long and arduous hike to the sea - so we had to take taxis - the sea here is no great shakes - the bedroom felt a little damp as the house is built into the rock and the mattress was not great.
Review 13:I liked the view from the big terrace over the sea, I loved the local restaurant - which is superb. The lady owner is super efficient and very nice.
Review 14:Bedroom was large, well decorated with a wonderful view. Terrace for pre dinner drinks and breakfast was memorable. Staff attentive, efficient and friendly. Great place to stay
Review 15:No check out before 0915 hrs No WiFi Not advised fantastic restaurant next door called I Tre Gufi Fantastic staff, fantastic sea view, cheaper and extensive
Review 16:Superb views on cliff top
Review 17:The breakfast would be just perfect if the bottled juice would be replaced with orange fresh. In the night we arrived the watter was not hot anymore, in fact it was almost cold, but given the summer, it was not such a big deal. The watter when you shower links very slowly to the pipes at one of the sea view rooms, this could be checked and improved.
Review 18:The amazing view from the room and from the terrace, the attention to details of the owners, the arhitecture, the arrangements, the terraces, the hospitality, the home-made limoncello, the breakfast fruits and the yougurt with fruits and nuts. The owner lady came and pick us up, arranged with the parking, arranged an excellent fish dinner to a remote restaurant...
Review 19:Everything was OK!
Review 20:Very nice and small hilltop village.Super good seafood! Premium style hotel. We lived in apartment Glicine which was very clean with wonderful terrace.
Review 21:My room, only because it did not have a window I could look out of,but that was because the hotel had only 1 room left when I booked..other rooms looked fabulous.
Review 22:The position The food The staff The owners go out of their way to make your stay fabulous.
Review 23:Apartment was cool even in the heat of the day, but a bit damp.
Review 24:Fell in love with Pisciotta and the Cilento coast. Beautiful mountains, great quiet beaches and few tourists. Apartment had fantastic views down the hillside and over the sea. Owners very helpful and gave us enough information to keep us busy for 2 weeks - pity we only had 4 days ! Excellent breakfast, great value.
Review 25:Helpfulness of owners and staff. Great position.
Review 26:Views to die for
Review 27:had to leave after four nights!!!
Review 28:the owners are fabuulous and take time with each guest to answer all their questions and make great suggestions.
Review 29:Very attentive and helpful hosts who went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our stay
Review 30:Fantastic boutique hotel with a stunning view, great breakfast, and wonderful owners!
Review 31:Nothing
Review 32:Fantastic welcome. Very helpful. Magnificent views. Love to come back.
Review 33:Location, very helpful hosts, beautiful location and views, fantastic local fish resturant, charming stylish room, fantastic breakfast
Review 34:steps, steps and more steps
Review 35:Perfect location with amazing views. Breakfast was awesome.
Review 36:If you have problems with stairs and afraid of hights this is not the hotel for you. The staff told us is was 15min walk to the marina, but that is not correct, I would say more like at least one hour, going strait down all the way. We turned around after 30 minutes.
Review 37:The staff was really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was simple but really god.
Review 38:We stayed for too short a time - three days and two nights
Review 39:This place is absolutely top drawer! Lea and Massimo are perfect hosts: attentive, helpful, gracious and welcoming. The food and service were excellent. Room was spacious and spotless; quality fittings and linen. An absolute delight and the place to stay in Piscotta
Review 40:Would not recommend apartment to anyone with a problem with stairs. Very steep stairs. Unsuitable for young children or frail elderly. Very low pressure on shower which leaked onto floor heavily.
Review 41:Sea vista from room. Easy walk to restaurants. Lots of steps to apartment but owners organised baggage taken up and back for us thank goodness. Beautiful views from hotel terrace. Owners very friendly.
Review 42:Great location in beautiful and quiet surroundings, part of a National Parc, in a very interesting village full of history. The luxury hotel is a nicely restaurated monastery, with very kind and helpful staff. We enjoyed the marvellous breakfast on the terrace with a great view.
Review 43:The bedroom in our apartment was cold as it had no central heating. But the discomfort was due to the unusual low temperature we had in April and for sure not a fault by the host. Perfect place for warmer times.
Review 44:Location is superbe, staff is kind and helpful, view is fantastic. The village of Pisciotta is cosy and a very good restaurant (Osteria del Borgo) is just nearby. Massimo and Lea will give you directions and hints to visit the whole enchanting area of Cilento, food and wine places included.
Review 45:Marulivo Hotel has a beautiful hillside location overlooking the sea. The owners were so friendly and welcoming, the room wase clean and very comfortable and a gin and tonic sundowner on the terrace each evening was wonderful. We had a truly lovely time.
Review 46:The whole atmosphere is relaxed but helpful and attentive. The staff are friendly and know how to please. The location is stunning and the sunsets from the terrace bar will live a long time in the memory. Local beaches are easily accessible and the water is the cleanest I have seen in a long time anywhere.
Review 47:Beautiful seascape from the hotel, woderful owner, clean room and nice breakfast, especily yoghurt. Pisciotta is a peaceful small town. The people was friendly and a restaurant was very nice. We should have stayed there a couple of days.
Review 48:I liked everything about this hotel. It's location, beauty and veryfriendly and helpful owners. The owners speak perfect English and helpedus immensely during our stay so we would not miss all of the highlightsof this wonderful region of Italy. I would recommend it highly.
Review 49:Everything! Staff were amazing- so helpful. Rooms fabulous. Brekkies on the balcony to die for . Beautiful sunsets, great recommendations from food, national parks to a local mountain bike trip. Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable
Review 50:was most expensive hotel on our tour but totally worth it, public parking is about 5mn walk (Pisciotta is a medieval city after all), but staff will be glad to help with baggage
Review 51:nicely decorated room, very clean, with wonderful view, wonderful terrace where we had a complimentary drink for honeymoon, extremely friendly and helpful staff, great familiar atmosphere, recommendations for beaches and activities in the region, restaurant recommendations
Review 52:Warm welcome, with the owners doing everything they could to make youfeel at home. They made our restaurant reservations every evening, printed maps of the area and always had a warm smile. The venue wassimply amazing, stunning views, lovely clean room and the bestcontinental breakfast on the breath taking terrace. You have to try thisplace, you'd be silly not to!
Review 53:Being able to hear the music from the patio in our room.
Review 54:The stunning location The helpfulness and friendliness of the owner The decor and exquisite design of the interior, the patio overlooking the sea and the garden seating areas. The breakfasts
Review 55:Lack of facilities but that is only to be expected given the fact the hotel is perched on the edge of a cliff. Would have been nice to have wifi in every room.
Review 56:Very good location in centre of the town. Excellent restaurants a minutes walk away. Lots of quiet corners to sit and enjoy the amazing view. Staff very knowledgeable and helpful.
Review 57:There was nothing to dislike!
Review 58:The location is wonderful, high on a hillside with panoramic views of the Mediterranean. The owners are delightful, warm, friendly and always ready to advise and arrange anything which guests need. The breakfasts are something special - worth waking up for - and eaten on the stunning terrace overlooking the sea. The room we had was comfortable, very clean, beautifully decorated and had a breathtaking view over the valley below out to the sparkling blue sea and clear blue sky. This hotel is a real "find"
Review 59:Accessibility. For anyone with fitness issues this is not a good choice.
Review 60:owners were extremely friendly and helpful and the view from the terrace is spectacular. Is off the beaten track so is very authentic and a few good inexpensive restaurants
Review 61:This is not a criticism of the hotel but if travelling by publictransport contact them in advance to arrange a taxi as the bus servicefrom the station which is several miles away is very erratic andinfrequent.
Review 62:The owners are fantastic and will arrange trips and taxis for you, andrecommend local restaurants.
Review 63:We knew, but be aware of the steps if you bring a lot of luggage and your legs are bad.
Review 64:Wonderfull wiew over the sea from the terrasse and room. Very nice people assisting us.The breakfast was served ón the terrasse and the cappuchino was perfect!
Review 65:We loved this hotel! It's perched on the edge of a medieval town abovethe sea. Gorgeous views and a very high standard of restoration. I'venever stayed anywhere quite like this.To reach it, we parked in a small lot on the edge of town and walked through the narrow passageways. It was well-marked and easy to find. It was warm when we were there so we walked down the many steps (narrow, medieval passageways) to reach the marina and had a wonderful swim in the sea. We arrived back just in time for cocktails on the terrace at sunset. It was delightful! In the evening we went to the nearby restaurant for an amazing dinner. Really loved everything about the experience!
Review 66:While the terrace is a beautiful pace to relax it is spoilt by the constant presence of wasps or bees when eating breakfast. It was most uncomfortable. The rooms were very stuffy and the air conditioning not working in either of the two rooms we stayed in over the week.
Review 67:Quaint setting with spectacular views to the marina. The owners Lea and Massimo are wonderful hosts, very friendly and accomdating.
Review 68:We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Marulivo and were welcomed with open arms by our fantastic hosts Lea and Massimo. Our stay at the hotel lasted for three days and we both wished we had booked for longer. The Marulivo is in a renovated monastery situated in the idyllic hilltop village of Pisciotta. The hotel has a stunning outdoor terrace where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful view over the Tyrrhenian sea or you can also sit and relax in the pretty garden the hotel provides. Our room was lovely, clean and comfortable and quiet and our hosts could not have been more accommodating. We would definitely reccommend The Marulivo and will hopefully be back ourselves in the near future.
Review 69:Small room...hardly enough room for our suitcases....and right by the reception, where people tended to congrgate.
Review 70:The location...near the town square...short drive to the beach. The view from the terrace.
Review 71:I cant really find anything we disliked. A thoroughly enjoyableexperience.Maybe parking is a bit tricky during weekends, but I heard the owners will have parking spaces available in the near future.
Review 72:Great location, extremely helpful staff, very relaxing. And obviously, the fantastic view over the sea! I would recommend to friends andfamily. The ideal combination of unspoiled location and high quality ofservice. Hard to find elsewhere in Italy.
Review 73:Parking is a bit of a challenge in Pisciotta, and some instructions beforehand would be helpful, i.e. when a reservation is made. We found a parking space rather easily, but I guess if we arrived later the day it could have been not as easy. But that really is the only thing I can think of, and once you have made it there it's just wonderful!!
Review 74:How the owners welcome you and take care of everything is just great. The location, too, is amazing. And how everything is designed and set-up with great love for details gives you that extra bit of feeling welcome and at "home away from home".
Review 75:We had an excellent stay at the Marulivo Hotel in juli 2012. Everythingwas great, and the owners of the hotel was really friendly and veryhelpful, and made our stay perfect! :) The hotel is located inbeautiful, tranquil Pisciotta, and is a romantic and cosy hotel that wecan really recommend!
Review 76:Everything. We were made so welcome. Everyone there so friendly and the setting was heavenly. The rooms were immaculate. Never stayed anywhere so clean and comfortable. Would recommend this lovely place to anyone. Breakfast on the massive sea view terrace was the highlight.
Review 77:My husband and I stayed here with our son and my parents. Our accimmodation was traditional, beautiful and very clean. We were welcomed by friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us. The views from our room were absolutely beautiful and we were only a stones throw from the quaint central square, the hub of the village. We travelled here for my sisters wedding and would most definitely like to visit pisciotta again in the future.
Review 78:A unique hotel, restored lovingly from an old monastery. Rooms designedwith romantic touches. Great set up for sunsets and loung ing on theterrace with view of the sea. Lovely breakfast too. Bring your walkingshoes! Friendly locals.
Review 79:Very enthusiastic owners, excellent breakfast in the shadow at the outsider terrace with beautiful view across the sea and harbour down at the beach.
Review 80:Steps
Review 81:Everything but the steps. Too hard for old people.
Review 82:No wifi in room
Review 83:Breakfast (yogurt)
Review 84:noisy fridge
Review 85:Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The views from the terrace are amazing. Pisciotta is a beautiful place!
