Reviews for Hotel 1697 Loreto

Review 1:Nothing - I was very happy.

Review 2:I really enjoyed my stay here; I was made very welcome, given a helpful map and local recommendations, and found the room comfortable, spotless, and very nicely designed. The restaurant and brewery out front sits right on the local square and I enjoyed everything I ate there, and it's a great spot for whiling away a peaceful hour. Wifi is best on your terrace or in the restaurant, for now at least, though a booster is on its way. Loreto is a nice friendly town, best with a car if you want to explore, as public transport is non-existent and tours pricey and reliant on having enough customers

Review 3:We have a lovely stay at Hotel 1697 in Loreto (nov., 10th to nov., 14th 2015). Our host an the staff are very friendly and the meals at the restaurant are excellent. I hope we'll see us again.

Review 4:Nothing

Review 5:The best location in Loreto!, on the plaza!, very quiet. Walk everywhere central. The food at 1697 outstanding! Great service. Craft beer brewed on site 5 Stars Ekrian & Norma outstanding owners and hosts!, Always made time to answer all questions on where to eat & things to do-- Stay here and really enjoy your holiday in Loreto Mexico

Review 6:unfortunately despite fumigating, found two alive cockroaches and one dead one. Owner told us about an excellent place for breakfast. Supper at 1697 was very good and they gave us 15% discount. If experienced traveller in 2nd and 3rd world, good overnight hotel. Probably not good for people only accustomed to USA or Canada.

Review 7:right in the main square. brew their own microbrew beer - very good. owner irish so speaks very good English and Spanish.

Review 8:Perfect location right on the Plaza! Craft beer in the 1697 restaurant next door was awesome. Kieran, the owner and brewer, was great to chat with and learn about Loreto. I think we found our new vacation town!

Review 9:The hosts Norma and Kieran are wonderful people and show genuine interest to make sure you enjoy your stay in Loreto. Great downtown location and the restaurant right next door has excellent craft beer on tap made by the host Kieran.

Review 10:Both Kieren and Norma, as well as their staff, make you feel welcome. The room was more than adequate and right on the main town square. The air conditioning was strong and hot water hot. Kieren's craft beer is delicious and goes along great with the Guac dip and chips. Don't forget to ask for a shot of Damiana before bed. Will definitely be back.

Review 11:I did not have enough time to enjoy it more

Review 12:The location and quaintness of the property. The owners were super gracious and checked us in super late and then got up super early to check us out. I loved the homey feeling with the outside patio area that would be great to sit at in the evening. The bathroom area was excellent with a huge walk in shower.

Review 13:Coffee maker provided, as well as toaster oven and bar fridge (great!), but had to buy my own coffee to use. No shampoo or conditioner provided.

Review 14:The attached restaurant has great beer, made on premesis, and wonderful food. Excellent location.

Review 15:Problems with payment by card... I just have to advice to have reserve of cash since withdrawal in the local bank is very expensive and sometimes cash machine does not work. They don't provide breakfast, but it is not a real problem since there are a lot of options in a short walking distance.

Review 16:Location: we were in the center, in 2 minutes walk from the sea, with a huge variety of restaurants nearby. Clean, quite comfortable in its range. The staff was friendly and unostentatious.

Review 17:no breakfast the room was close to the restaurant kitchen so NOISY at night time if you decide to go to bed early !

Review 18:GOOD LOCATION TASTEFUL ROOM VERY GOOD PRICE

Review 19:Really recommend you spend more than one night in Loreto. It is a lovely town with lots of history, friendly people good restaurants and a vehicle free Plaza area. The 1697, named after the year the town founded, is a as nice a place as you find. The owners, staff and resturants are the best

Review 20:The fridge did not work in my room.

Review 21:Situated right at the corner of the plaza, which is extremely convenient to go for eat & buy. It takes about 10 minutes walk to the water front.

Review 22:Room was sparse but charming and clean. The place gives you the feeling of being in old-world Mexico. Owners were friendly and helpful; you can really relax here. There is an attached restaurant which is excellent.

Review 23:Nobody there for checkin or checkout. the place is closed till 16.30 without any notice they took the chairs from our balcony because they needed in restaurant

Review 24:Nice room friendley owner spacious room

Review 25:Rooms open onto the street so some might find this feels insecure/lacks privacy. No-one around after restaurant closes.

Review 26:Great location on main square. Clean and basic. Friendly and helpful management. Would happily stay here again.

Review 27:no washcloths or shampoo, small stuff, but I had to think a minute to find anything to not rave about.

Review 28:We loved our stay there, & extended it until the next booking. Very basic, but this is a jewell tucked away in the heart of the historical district could not have been better for anyone traveling on a budget. Guests eat wonderful food at 1/2 price at the restaurant (& delivered to the door). Every request fulfilled by the wonderful staff & friendly owner's. We will be booking in advance next trip!

Review 29:Needs more inside updates -- lighting, electrical, a picture or two, etc.

Review 30:Very central location Pleasant owner/operators Good adjacent restaurant of owners

Review 31:The wifi was weak in the room on the left side, but it worked. We had 2 small cockroaches (which is kind of normal during this season), but the staff helped at once to get rid of them.

Review 32:Nice little hotel with only 2 rooms, both beautiful and with lots of space, clean. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful, they speak fluent English and Spanish. The Hotel is directly at the main square in Loreto, 3min walk to the sea.

Review 33:Lots of places to walk from here. Room was very clean but no real source of ventilation. Could not get wall unit to work and no screens on windows. Had to ask for drinking water-- usually there is at least a single bottle of water in a hotel room if not a carafe or larger container. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, staff helpful when asked, and lots of places to grab a bite to eat close by. In fairness, I was there during holiday times so it's possible these problems would have not occurred normally.

Review 34:The room could have used more light but that's digging.

Review 35:The staff really went out of their way to make it a great stay. Despite being on the Centro, it was very quiet and I slept really well there.

Review 36:The wooded patio in front of the rooms had a small step which was very difficult to see, particularly in the dark. I tripped over it but was able to catch myself. I would have appreciated soap for the shower and a small bottle of shampoo...

Review 37:The room was spacious and had two queen beds. Room was very clean. Location in the historical area was ideal for walking and felt very safe. We particularly appreciated the gated parking. The restaurant was very good. Prices for room and restaurant were excellent.

Review 38:Great house-brewed beers.

Review 39:hard to find. loud bar right next door. mold in the coffee maker

Review 40:Nice big room, in a nice location

Review 41:Clean and in the heart of the city.

Review 42:TV was mostly in Spanish 98% also cost of double opp. was way too much $1020 pesos

Review 43:friendly staff very pleasant

Review 44:Great location right on the main square.

Review 45:The best place we have stayed on the Baja. Safe and clean Will stay there again. The price is right

Review 46:They have a micro brewery and restaurant next door!

Review 47:Low natural light in the room

Review 48:Location and comfort

Review 49:Location, staff, facility are all excellent

Review 50:Great clean room with satellite TV in center of town. Great restaurant and brewery. I highly recommend.

Review 51:I loved the location and how private it was very spacious

Review 53:Location.

Review 54:I enjoyed being able to sit on my private porch and be able to see all the activity in the square.

Review 55:It was quite noisy there in the morning with all the activity in the area.

Review 56:Cozy, convenient, great food and beer in the restaurant there.
