Reviews for Histò San Pietro Sul Mar Piccolo

Review 1:Almost no complimentary facilities: entry to indoor facilities was pay-only and outdoor pool was stone cold - disappointing.

Review 2:Gorgeous bedrooms and setting

Review 3:I had a really good stay the only thing I would mention would be the gym that could be better equipped.

Review 4:It's a great hotel and highly recommended! Great staff, the food is amazing, the rooms are big and really comfortable. A good choice to relax enjoying the pool and the spa.

Review 5:Is a 20min drive to Taranto, but given the pro's of the hotel etc, definitely outways this As long as you chose this hotel on the facts you can't complain

Review 6:Very spacious in terms of rooms, lobby and general public spaces - quiet and peaceful - wait staff were great at both breakfast and dinner

Review 7:Surrounded by horrible industrial areas, no service understanding by staff and management, no Wifi, small breakfast selection, general very small food menu....

Review 8:Nice set up and large rooms!

Review 9:We booked an earlier flight home because frankly we weren't made to feel all that welcome. I think unless you are Italian, I wouldn't bother booking this hotel. We were treated at best as an irritation during our stay... if you only want locals then why advertise on Booking.com?! Quite a few families and noisy kids in the pool area, this is billed as a spa/retreat style hotel and whilst it was August when we visited it is clear that children are present all year round as there is a kid's playground.

Review 10:Stunning location, although a little remote. Nice pool area but a little crowded at times

Review 11:The Reception and Mgt seemed bereft of any skill with the guests. A very cold welcome and departure, incredible. 25 mins to check out and never an apology. The general use of the Spa should be included in the cost. Spaghetti Vongole had 1, yes 1 clam in it...! There is a lagoon full of mussels which we suggested they use and produced a great dish.

Review 12:The property is beautifully restored and the quality very high. Space and serenity very good, it was partially occupied. Spa facilities very good

Review 13:Comfort, architecture, design, attention to detail, the Histò is truly unique. Its location on Mar Piccolo, the excellent facilities and restaurant, everything is top quality and excellent taste. Highly reccomended.

Review 14:It's difficult to find this place by novigation. Early check out at 11.

Review 15:Very special place with good view on Piccolo mare and Taranto. It's situated in old building which was renovated for luxery hotel. Stuff is nice, breakfast good but without free frash juices and omlets. Grate SPA: ask for the treatment Marcella.

Review 16:Just need more suitable music in public areas . Not 1970 rock Cool chill out music Also need more large outdoor sofas and a comfortable bar area at night

Review 17:A treat to share staying in a beautiful historical private village . And so superbly renovated but with a contemporary twist Design is so well done .

Review 18:AC in my room was not doing 100% of its job, wifi is really poor, no turn down service you are used to at 5*. Pool side service horrible food having toast with tomatoes the worst food during our whole stay.

Review 19:Nice peaceful area very well look after. Comfortable rooms, great breakfast and nice staff.

Review 20:The personal doesn´t speak english so well. One of us speaks Italian so it was ok. The restaurant serves good food, but there were too little staff (3). Last year it was at least twice as many and it worked much better!

Review 21:Beautiful hotel, perfectly designed in every detail. We were here last summer as well and found it as charming as before. The SPA was now open and we enjoyed the service and spa surroundings very much.

Review 22:Air conditioning was faulty and not fixed despite telling the staff

Review 23:Lovely waiting staff and good food

Review 24:No Wifi for 4 days unacceptable.no chane of dinner menu if you stayed several days

Review 25:Lovely place quiet. Exclusive.lovely pool

Review 26:Staff

Review 27:Leaving

Review 28:Very comfortable beds! Excellent kitchen!

Review 29:Hard to find.

Review 30:Lovely Place, antique and new meet happily. Great SPA facilities

Review 31:Empty feeling; few guests; lack of early morning access to the pool facilities (ie towels).

Review 32:Room furnishing and finish

Review 33:Premises are gorgeous, renovated old cluster and masseria. Super relaxing. Wonderful staff. Amazing swimming pool. All surrounded of olive trees. Spacious rooms, very comfortable. Nice breakfast room. All in all , a must!!!

Review 34:Quiet and secluded from the craziness of town! Minutes from our meetings. Incredibly helpful staff, beautiful room, beautiful property. Wonderful history which the staff was great about sharing and giving us a tour of the facilities. The restaurant was wonderful and reasonably priced. Very convenient since once we got there we didn't want to leave the solitude and beauty!

Review 35:we were not treated as guests but as solicitants. In the (beautiful) room that was given to us nobody was able to to close the ic when we complained this we had to wait more than 40 minutes for another room. Moving to this (without help for our luggage) again something did not work, this time the television sky decoder (unfortunately the only room were it did not work they told us). We were asked to change the room again but we refused this. On the next day at 3 o clock in the afternoon when we came back from a walk still our room was not made and we had to ask the (unfriendly) receptionist again. The next morning, even the check out time is at 12.00 o clock the Wlan was cut at 8.00 in the morning. For a hotel calling itself a small luxury place these experiences were unaccaptable so our conclusion this time - never again

Review 36:the hotel with the big indoor and outdoor spa is quiet a beautiful place that we got to know two years ago so we wanted to return to spend some more time

Review 37:Wonderful staff with excellent English language skills. Great dining and wine list. Overall a relaxing, history-filled visit with phenomenal views amd rooms.

Review 38:Really struggling to find something to complain about.... maybe just an unfashionable bit of Italy

Review 39:Everything.... its a really outstanding hotel. Great design, outstanding food, stylish.... could not really believe we were paying £85 for what was claerly a £200 a night hotel

Review 40:You can't have all-in-one : you need to drive to access best beach / seaside of the Puglia region

Review 41:Fantastic place taking advantage of historical landscape. The most impressive is the way the pool area is designed. Warm welcome from staff. Excellent restaurant and wines. Outstanding value for money. Will go back for sure !

Review 42:Was not expecting to be so isolated. Whilst I had even advised, after Ibooked, that your own car was required, this was not an option. Instead,I mistakenly assumed there would be buses or taxis or transport servicesavailable via reception. This was not so. After traveling directly fromAustralia to the hotel, I was extremely disappointed that despite 2attempts by the tradesman, I had no hot water for a shower. Tepid wasthe best it ever got, but not good enough. Rooms are definitely Notsoundproof and in 8 nights I constantly had the noise of children andfamilies in rooms every side of me and below me. Felt totally isolatedand would not recommend for a single traveller, and particularly if youdon't speak Italian. The one tour I did do of the property with aguide I was told could speak a little English, launched into her spielin Italian the entire time, much to the benefit of the 2 Italian coupleswho joined me. Waste of time and money for me. Overall, verydisappointing as I did want to fit in and attempt a little Italianwhilst there, but it seems that unless you are fluent or have anotherperson to converse with in your own language, then it is a long day andnight! Spa was closed, also advised to me after I had booked.

Review 43:Cleaning staff were particularly kind even though we had difficulty inconversing due to them not speaking English and me not able to speakItalian well enough for them to understand.

Review 44:personnel as well at the reception as in the restaurant are not very friendly; you does not have the feeling of being welcome; we did not get at first the room we booked

Review 45:very good service at pool; very confortable big exclusive rooms; breakfast at good level

Review 46:Hotel is just perfect place to chill out from a busy city life, quite, cosy, beautiful nature. Amazing design and food in the restaurant deserves special attention.

Review 47:With everything else in the hotel so perfect, we were very surprised of the relatively poor quality of the dinner in the restaurant.

Review 48:This hotel is a renovated old olive oil farm. The renovation has been carried out incredibly beautiful. You can't find a detail in the building which is not perfect. The breakfast was fantastic.

Review 49:Ladies from Reception desk are a totally NO GO! No welcome, no goodbye. Absolutely no knowledge from the area und town. The responsible for the front desk should be questioned!

Review 50:Giuseppe from Pool area is a pearl and should work at reception and welcome desc. Staff from Restaurant are excellent!

Review 51:Unfortunately due to reasons out of the hotels control, the SPA was shut down. The main reason I had chosen this hotel was that we had planned to use the SPA. The hotel very kindly let us know in advance and upgraded our room. This was great as the upgraded room was fabulous, the downside was that we experienced terrible weather and had limited chance to chill by the pool between showers. We were also looking forward to the pampering as the booking was following a friends wedding and a weeks tour of the south coast.

Review 52:We loved the accommodation, the room, the staff, the hotel as a whole, the location was beautiful and the pool was fabulous. I Would definitely recommend the hotel to anybody as soon as the SPA is re-opened. Again the staff were fantastic!

Review 53:The location of the hotel is awful. Nobody knows where it is and itcannot be located on a gps. To say that it is located in or near Tarantois a fraud. It is located on a closed dirt road from which Caused us toget a flat tire. When we asked people from Taranto how to get to thehotel they laughed at us. Although there are many trees surrounding thehotel, it is also very close to an industrial zone including a sewagetreatment plant.

Review 54:The wifi was a little bit slow but we didn't mind at all!!

Review 55:It was a very nice experience staying at this hotel! Big spacious rooms with wonderful decoration, kind staff, excellent breakfast, nice restaurant, many facilities free of charge.

Review 56:It was very difficult for us to find, as we were unfamiliar with the area and the map on the booking page from Bookings.com was not helpful. That really is our only criticism. .

Review 57:A beautiful hotel nad spa facility (although the spa was not yet open), The guest rooms, as well as the public rooms, were chic and contemporary. The beautiful grounds were impeccably maintained, nad hte serivces was as good as it gets. That these facilities wer available to us at the price we were charged was staggering. What a find!

Review 58:I liked everything ! The enviroment the rest the kindness of the staff . Food was delicious every single day it was just perfect for me who was looking for rest and calme

Review 59:Unica piccolissima pecca il percorso tratturo delle antiche sorgenti non perfettamente indicato per chi avesse scordato la cartina in camera

Review 60:L'ambiente, la location, la camera accogliente, la palestra e il paesaggio attorno!

Review 61:I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel, everything was perfect, the staff is very kind and the rooms are excellent. Many thanks...See you next time :)

Review 62:We expected a cleaner room, especially for a 5star hotel. The toilet wasnot very well cleaned fot instance. We also expected a higher servicelevel at a 5 star hotel.

Review 63:The design of the hotel and rooms is very nice, there are a lot of nicespots to sit down and relax. We did a nice run on a route that is markedby signs of the hotel, this was great. It is also nice to walk thisroute, there are excellent maps availeble at the reception. There is aexcellent breakfast.

Review 64:loved every bit of it. wish my home would look like the histo.

Review 65:this is like walking into a design center. the rooms are amazing, the decor exquisite. love the modern furniture and the lighting is special. the grounds and beautiful and service and staff top notch.

Review 66:Screaming young adults one day at the pool looked out of place at this very stylish place just as a couple with young children making noise. Taranto; there is truly nothing to see but pollution and poverty.

Review 67:Beatiful location, hotel is unique with a very high standard and lots of nice features and details. Breakfast is excellent. Fantastic.

Review 68:This was our second visit this year. We look for a relaxing time in a high quality hotel and Relais Histo San Pietro totally meets our requirements

Review 69:excellent service, very quiet and relaxing atmosphere, 1st class SPA resort, very good restaurant, warm and relaxing rooms (choice of materials, spaces)

Review 70:As you can see it's generally a superb hotel. The downside is that itisn't close to anything particularly nice. The nearby Mare Picollo isunpleasant. We tried to run in the area around but it's not suitable.Taranto has some lovely parts, particularly the cathedral but it'sgenerally an uninspiring part of Italy. That said, the hotel has donethe right thing by creating a spa. I imagine that's what most people useit for. I just don't understand spas so I didn't use it except for apedicure which was good and took place in the most amazing pedichair/contraption I've ever seen. The spa looked gorgeous by the way.

Review 71:A superb hotel with high standard of fittings, luxury rooms and, mostly, excellent staff. The highlight was the amazing restaurant which wasplaced in a delightful courtyard and served superb food and wine. Itreally was a joyous part of our holiday and meant we could leave ourchildren sleeping while we relaxed over a long evening meal. We wereoriginally given rooms in the main building but, because of theunusually high temperatures this year, the air conditioning wasn't goodenough at night (the rooms are very big). After complaining we wereoffered a lovely apartment right next to the courtyard and given a smalldiscount. Worth knowing about it if you are a family with youngchildren. The quality of the fittings isn't as good as the main roomsbut the convenience was a major plus. The pool bar was lovely and thebar tender a real gem. He played superb music too.

Review 72:The position of the hotel is a little out of the way - but worth it -and Taranto is not an attractive city. Some of the hotel staff clearlyfelt service was optional.

Review 73:The hotel is a beautifully and stylishly renovated Masseria with afantastic restaurant and lovely pool area. It is a very relaxingenvironment in which to stay. Most of the hotel staff were very helpful.

Review 74:It was extremely difficult to find but once there we were welcomed. Rooms beautifully appointed but bathroom floor was wet the whole trip (one night and one day) so obviously some problem with the humidity. Some slight confusion between reception and bar/pool bar but all worked out well and we had a good stay.

Review 75:The check-in was terrible. The woman (Daniella) at the reception wasvery unfriendly. Althought it was mentioned that rooms were availablefrom 2 P.M. onwards, we had to wait for another hour since the roomswere not ready due to a wedding party the night before. It was suggestedto have a drink at the pool bar but the staff completely ignored us overthere and had no intention whatsoever of serving us. Another staffmember at the reception tried to made this up by offering us a drink inthe lobby.

Review 76:Very spacious rooms with tasteful minimalistic interior. Nicelyrenovated complex.

Review 77:accessability is not the best since the single road leading to hotel is blocked, and one has to bump through some hillocks

Review 78:Splendid idea to convert 'masseria' into luxury hotel. Excellent design, fully equipped, spacious and comfortable. Staff is nice and courteous.

Review 79:Nothing really. However I would say that you shouldn't consider goingunless you are willing to hire a car. You cannot expect to find publictransport or cheap taxis in a hamlet in Puglia!

Review 80:The hotel is a wonderful conversion of a historic building. Our room wasone of the loft suites and was spacious and comfortable. One of the twobathrooms had a deep bath and the other a two person shower. Thehighlight of each day for me was the buffet breakfast. The hot food wasnot that great but the range of cold food, pastries and cakes wasexceptional. The main restaurant had a good range of options each nightand the courtyard setting is very pleasing. The cost of meals seems alittle high at first but you need to think of the context. The room costis perhaps half of what you might pay for an equivalent hotel in the ukand you would pay more for food in such a uk hotel as well. Finally wefound all the staff to be helpful and friendly.

Review 81:They couldn't get our tv to work even though we were there for 3 nights.Restaurant service is too harrassed !

Review 82:A beautiful restoration with the most elegant of provisions'pool, spa, gourmet meals.

Review 83:You absolutely need a car to reach the hotel and if you like to be mobile. Nothing around. Hotel restaurant expensive. Spa is not free of charge. We got twice free entry with 7 day stay. Otherwise spa extremely expensive.

Review 84:Great rebuild old italian village style hotel. Lots of space and good poole area. Only 50 well equipped rooms. Not overcrowded. Excellent breakfast in beautiful area. Free and secure parking. Complimentary soft drink mini-bar. Relaxed atmosphere.

Review 85:Fantastic value for money. The rooms are spacious, clean and very money. The staff are very friendly. Breakfast was very good. I would stay in this hotel again.

Review 86:There could be more information on the city (Taranto)arriving into the city for the first time is a bit scary parking and the beggers but we found are way eventually and enjoyed a lively city with some good restaurants.(Desco corso umberto)! The old town is a bit daunting

Review 87:We had a wonderful time the histo has really got it right a great breakfast and great restaurant the bedrooms are large and very comfortable and the staff are friendly. We loved it

Review 88:Unfriendly staff, not so helpful. Breakfast service until 10h: thismeans that all food is gone at 9h50. Sunbeds around the pool not verycomfortable

Review 89:Very nice rooms, nice breakfast, good restaurant

Review 90:We have stayed one night in this beautiful place, located on a quiet spot quite a bit outside Taranto. We found the decoration of the hotel very nice, the reception welcoming and the whole atmosphere very relaxing. Unbeatable price-quality!

Review 91:If you need to be in that area it is absolutely the best place to stay!

Review 101:Beautifully designed, calm and relaxing.

Review 102:The restaurant food wasn't quite as amazing as we had expected

Review 103:Loved the room and service. Staff brilliant and friendly. Lovely pool and spa.

Review 104:Personnel speaking local slang, not much professional

Review 105:Room furniture

Review 106:Very luxury rooms with complementary mini-bar and private terras (with shower). Excellent kitchen, very helpfull and friendly staff.

Review 114:This place is just fantastic!

Review 115:Everything. We skipped Taranto and stayed at the hotel. Next time in thearea we will stay in the same place.

Review 116:the TV (impossible to see a foreign program for more than 45 minutes/1 hour, I did not try the italian programs)

Review 117:Perfect experience

Review 118:Spa personal was unprofessional.

Review 119:Design was great!

Review 120:a great place to stay and relax. Olive trees everywhere and not to far from Taranto (must have car), 10 min. drive.

Review 121:Very difficult to find the hotel. Would have been impossible without the help of the staff.

Review 122:Pleasant atmosphere and a very helpful staff.

Review 123:The fact that one can't use the spa except for treatments.
