Reviews for Hotel Simius Playa

Review 1:With it being end of season, some facilities were not available and bar opening hours were shortened. Is, however, is understandable.

Review 2:The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us - truly outstanding service.

Review 3:We did not like anything at this "4 star"hotel as breakfast was in a freezing cold 'room', rain flying into the dining room and member of staff at reception shrugs her shoulders as I asked where are the shuttle buses? Meals were very expensive and no salads and I told them I required vegetarian food by email. The charges for using the beach and cost to use towels was unbelievable also every 5 minutes there were men trying to sell items so no privacy and peace.

Review 4:Flights were very late and it was the man who worked at night he said bottle of wine and flowers in our bedroom. Yes I had told the reception by email

Review 5:I think the restaurant is overrated. Others say it's great but it's average. Also there is a noisy family hotel nearby which plays loud music. It didn't ruin our stay though.

Review 6:Beach location is excellent and a 15 minute walk into Villasimius which was perfect for us.

Review 7:B&B price did not include use of the sunbeds on the private beach which were charged at up to 25 euros per day or part of the day.

Review 8:Lovely location next to the beach and close to a pretty town. Lovely pool area and bar, excellent restaurant for dinner and an outdoor lunch restaurant in the garden next to the beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Well appointed and comfortable room. We like that there was a dress code for dinner, no shorts or flipflops, gentlemen need a shirt with a collar.

Review 9:The reception staff was not helpful.

Review 10:Beautiful location/hotel! The restaurant is a must - so delicious! The hotel and bar staff were helpful/nice.

Review 11:A little too quiet, not much to do apart from the beach (rough sea meant we couldn't swim much) and just lounge by the beach or pool area. You will need a car if you want to explore other beaches and see the pink flamingos as the hotel is quite far away. The walk to town is a bit too far to be relaxing. We had a car so it was really nice.

Review 12:A very intimate hotel. Small, but well run hotel with well maintained beautiful gardens.

Review 13:We didn't have a bad experience.

Review 14:The hotel is stylish, the staff were charming and helpful and the food delicious. The beautiful beach just a walk away.

Review 15:Despite requesting a quiet room, we were given an old-fashioned, un-renovated ground floor room adjacent to the bar, where due to the hotel being fully booked, we were required to stay for our first night. We were relocated to a much better room (renovated and quiet) for the remainder of the holiday. Disappointingly, the balcony was unusable due to the swarming of nesting birds in the surrounding trees, and their deposits. Hotel restaurant menu was limited, with no other option in the vicinity for lunch

Review 16:Situated directly on the beachfront, the location was excellent for a relaxing beach-based holiday.

Review 17:Its a shame our classic room didn't have a safe to store our valuables and some of the furniture was slightly dated.

Review 18:I contribute to Tripadvisor and so will keep this review short. The hotel is located perfect for those wanting beach access, its great value for money with a fantastic restaurant. Free WiFi and ample parking for guests is a huge bonus. Every single member of staff can only be rated 10 out of 10, they are friendly and very attentive.

Review 19:I'd say the 20 E charge to use the private beach but then again the hotel was full of rich posh people. There is a 15 to 20min walk to Villasimius - no problem for me thou. Swimming pool is very small...not for kids.

Review 20:The location is great, 1 min from the beach. The beach was well maintained, food was excellent, remote location away from the village (15 min walk). The staff was always smiling and were trying to speak English. Try the beef steak or the fish of the day with a bottle of white or red local wine :)

Review 23:The hotel is expensive. The location of our room was not great. It faced the side of the property with so much cleaning happening downstairs. The hotel could have done more in providing a better room as there were quite a lot unoccupied as we visited off season. The staff at the reception could do a lot better and be more helpful. However the staff at the bar, garden and elsewhere were friendly, polite and ready to help.

Review 24:The location was perfect. It can't be any closer to the beach than that. The property is beautiful especially the bar area. The room itself was good and bathroom clean and modern.

Review 25:The restaurant was outstanding for dinner. Staff was excellent. The lobby lounge area was like heaven on earth in the afternoons/evenings for cocktails and relaxation. I hope to return one day.

Review 26:Long straight rather dull road to the town and not many restaurants near the hotel. We hired bikes to get around. Balcony a bit small. Small quantities of food in restaurant and expensive.

Review 27:Luxury bar and seating areas. Friendly staff. Lovely room.

Review 28:Fridge in the room was for drinks/beverages supplied by the hotel only meaning we couldn't keep any water/snacks which we had bought while out during the day.

Review 29:Myself & my partner stayed in Hotel Simius Playa in Sept for 7 nights, location was fantastic, right on the beach. Hotel was very clean & a good selection for breakfast for all tastes. We didn't have dinner in the hotel as we prefer to roam in the evenings & stumble upon our dinner venue.

Review 30:Check in 3pm is a bit late, but they offered to store our suitcases with all facilities of the case.

Review 31:Staff courtesy. They upgrade our room and we slept in a junior suite with great sea's view. Breakfast. Close to the beach. Air condition. Food Price fair enough. Swimming pool.

Review 32:We thought the sunbeds for us as bed and breakfast guests, was too high.

Review 33:We loved the position of the hotel and the staff could not have been more helpful. We had evening meals at the hotel too and were well impressed. A courtesy bus to the town of Villasimius would have been great, even if only in the evenings.

Review 34:Sleep interrupted by noisy pipes and a rock hard mattress. Slow WiFi, not always possible to connect.

Review 35:Hospitality Welcome Food Wine list Proximity to beach Decor Comfortable public areas

Review 36:The check out process was a little time consuming. Would prefer to just drop off the key.

Review 37:I loved the balcony. We enjoyed the nature view right from our room. Worth the two minute drive to be "down town". The whole property is beautiful. I will definitely be back.

Review 38:Having to pay for hotel's beach. Beach traders continually disturbing us. Thumpy music from another beach cafe close by.

Review 39:Close to clean sandy beach. Garden restaurant with sea view. Beautifully kept landscaped gardens. Lovely pool. Good food and live entertainment.

Review 40:Nothing, everything was perfect. We were sad to leave.

Review 41:The hotel is the most perfect beachside location, with the best staff and team, making a holiday utterly pleasurable. The management and staff cannot do enough for you and make you feel special. The situation next to the beach is perfection and their beach area with the lifeguards who take care to make sure you have sunloungers and towels is a massive plus point. The food in both the beach side lunch restaurant and the main restaurant for dinner is excellent and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Bathrooms are modern and fresh and the mattresses have been sourced for comfort and a decent nights sleep. After a day on the beach it's great to go back and sit on the balcony and watch the boats in the bay.

Review 42:Guests with B&B get charged for the Beach facilities (Umbrella and Chairs) 20€ / Day. Whereas Guests with Half-board have that included.

Review 43:The location is just great. Near the beach with private Beach section. Nice quiet Hotel

Review 44:Food quality variable

Review 45:Great location

Review 46:The air of "once was a luxury hotel" Breackfast is nowhere close to what expected!

Review 47:By the beach!

Review 48:bit of a distance from the restaurants and shops to walk

Review 49:beautiful beach, helpful staff

Review 50:Really narrow shower cabin in standard room. Poor wifi

Review 51:Perfect location near the beach

Review 52:We would expect mosquito nets on the windows and some more measures against the insects

Review 53:The staff were really friendly, the location amazing

Review 54:Amazing staff, hotel, location... Perfect!

Review 55:Wifi was weak in bar and pool area.

Review 56:Good wifi in room. Great food and staff at dinner. Close to beach. Great music in the bar.

Review 57:Nothing

Review 58:Clean, comfortable, well decorated, great calming ambience.

Review 59:A great location next to the beach with excellent interested staff.

Review 60:Not a good value for the money. Not comfortable bed/pillows. Pool area poor and messy.

Review 61:Nice beach nearby. OK lobby and bar

Review 62:Did not change sheets during our 5 day stay - very disappointing

Review 63:Beautiful localisation and building.

Review 64:payment for beach facilites

Review 65:proximity to beach

Review 66:VERY limited access to the pool. Virtually no access during the afternoon.

Review 67:Location

Review 68:Unexpected closure of swimming pool every afternoon. Not advertised and not understood.

Review 69:Colonial ambience Friendly staff

Review 70:Room slightly dusty.

Review 71:Friendly and efficient staff, good buffet breakfast, new bathrooms, clean bedsheets.

Review 72:Lack of a lift. My son has heart condition so we had to pause on each landing for 10 seconds before going the next flight.

Review 73:Everything was super. Staff were so attentive and caring. Room was a delight with all facilities in top order.

Review 74:i did not find the menu as great as before, in fact, we had a hard time choosing what to order. i found the menu of 2006 much more exciting. My daughter still remembers the five kinds of cheese dish that she had. travelers are not like Italians that like to eat the same fare all the time… one time somewhere else i had quatro sap one girasole.. it was 4 flavors and was a round pasta,, like a sunflower… i suggest a new study of the menu for more interesting food… even italain can be more exciting.

Review 75:i have been there before and so had good memories of 2006 with my daughter. it is right next to the beach but not overwhelmed by it. the staff are wonderful and helpful and friendly. i would recommend it to anyone wanting a nice stay.

Review 76:Not the best value for money. Charge at least 15-20euros for the use of their private beach which negates it. Wifi a bit unreliable

Review 77:Great location, beautifully designed Colonial decor.

Review 78:Bit tricky to get to town, (1-2 km) Some parts of surrounding area a bit desolate, f.ex. walking to town. Changed room due to smell in bathroom; unproblematic. New room fine.

Review 79:close to fine beach, nice bar/pool/sitting area, good service/information, nice off season price.

Review 80:nothing!

Review 81:Room was large, beautiful with a rustic feel and very clean. Pool was quiet and clean but a little cold. Poolside was lovely. Bar and restaurant both excellent. Beaches glorious! Villasimius village is a short walk away and is quaint with good shops and bars. All in all a little bit of paradise!

Review 82:The hotel has a private beach. However, unless you are there on an HB basis, you have to pay for the use of daily sunbeds on the beach of between 15-25 Euros depending on your closeness to the sea. I understand that in High Season, the top price goes up to 40 Euros per person per day. Despite being a private beach, hawkers were allowed on to it all day and became an irritant.

Review 83:The room; it was obviously recently refurbished to a very high standard. I understand there is further refurbishment to be done. All the staff were helpful, cheerful and very obliging.

Review 84:I had a problem with the cleaning as one of the towels in my room was dirty (I found hair that was not mine) and after I complaint to the receptionist, nothing was done apart of apologizing. One of the waiters is really rude, unprofessional and cheeky. People at the reception are more worried about administrative work instead of caring about the customer service.

Review 85:The beach just in front of the hotel. Wi-fi working really well everywhere, even at the beach. The snack buffet in the evening. The jacuzzi in the garden.

Review 86:Sun beds and sunshade is 25 Euro for first line, 20 Euro for second line and the rest for 15 Euro. Shower on the beach for 0,5 Euro and no toilet. Check in 15:30 and check out 11:00.

Review 87:Malaysian style of the hotel. Rich breakfast, clasic beach hotel in old style furniture. Very nice garden. You can enjoy free chips, nuts, cheese for drinks in the afternoon in the cafe. If you look for tresor - is behind the picture :-) Free wifi and parking. Quiet hotel, very nice.

Review 88:My husband and i were driving from Alghero to This hotel in one day. if you do not know where you are going it can be troublesome to find as many roads were closed due to a feast happening. Upon arriving we were made to wait about 20 minutes. I understand italian and a gentleman came up to the desk and shoved other paperwork at the receptionist to take care of first. We had been driving for 5 hours without eating lunch or dinner. New guests are apparently not valued. Because check in lasted so long, dinner had closed which forced us to walk into (town) about a mile away. ( this would normally be fine but we were exhausted and just wanted a nibble and bed). Walking to our room we saw bugs on the carpets, roach? No idea.( on a side note, we had just left one of the most beautiful hotels in Alghero and arriving here was a let down/ about same cost). The beds are ridiculously hard and not comfortable at all. I wish I had nicer things to say about this place but I just don't. If i had to do it all over again i would spend my 4 days in Alghero- what a slice of heaven.

Review 89:You should choose the room! We tried to sleep with the opened window, but it was impossible! The window faced road! It was very croudy! It is ok with conditioner, but also croudy!

Review 90:The rooms are decorated perfectly! The staff is very-very kind and helpful! There is good restaurant!

Review 91:Pool closed in the afternoon No bath Breakfast not thrilling Hotel could not give us adjoining rooms

Review 92:Great position - right on the beach Staff friendly and helpful Great cocktails good sized rooms Nice walk into the village for dinner

Review 93:What you book and pay for is not at all what you get !!!If you like overpriced and old-fashioned hotels, this place’s for you. Otherwise, look for something else.We booked via booking.com a room at this hotel for 6 nights. Superior room with view and balcony, price for 6 nights 1740 eur.We had seen the pictures on the booking.com site and on the hotel’s site, the pics were showing a very light room, with design and modern bathroom amenities, nice furniture. The room shown in the pics was obviously either new or very recently refurbished. When we arrived at the hotel, we were taken to our room, which was dark and had no balcony. We asked the reception for another room. First answer : impossible, hotel is full. We were told to take the room and wait until 9.00 PM until the person responsible for the reservations would be back. We refused to take the room, and had to heavily insist on meeting someone sooner than 09.00 PM.We met the hotel’s manager : his solution was to put us in another room, with balcony this time. That room had indeed a balcony, but the room had not had any renovation since at least 20 years : the tiles on the bathroom walls were an ugly and very old fashioned pinkish color, some tile joints were cracked, the shower was a very basic shower cabin also very old and not totally clean, toilet seat so old that it turned yellowish, the airco unit was noisy, no style, no taste, worn carpet, worn furniture, nothing that matched that price segment (290 EUR = 385 USD = 254 GBP per night !!!). His comment : this is normal we advertise the best rooms with the nicest pictures on the website. See for yourself the pics in this review and the ones on their website. We refused this room, and proposed to pay for the first night although we had not even used the room, and cancel the rest without charge. The hotel manager refused. The only compromise he proposed was a 15% discount on extras (who would take extras when you’re treated that way ?

Review 94:No lift; foldout bed for my daughter very uncomfortable; very noisynightclub a street away pounding out he music till early hours

Review 95:Great location and facilities; main bed very comfortable

Review 96:Amount and frequency of traders parading their wares (tat) past sun beds on beach.

Review 97:Great staff, esp cocktail waiters! Excellent breakfasts, daily menu variations/chef's specials, terrific beach that was lively but not crowded in early season (7-14 June).

Review 98:Leaving to come home.

Review 99:It is a fantastic hotel with the most wonderful staff. The restaurant could not be faulted, we had breakfast and dinner there every day and the quality was excellent. A few yards away is the beach with good sunbeds. My wife and I enjoyed this hotel as well as any we have visited.

Review 100:Difficult to say but maybe the size of the swimmingpool (a bit small). But i was 99% really satisfied.

Review 101:-The staff was so kind, always smiling,at our entire service -The food includind the breakfast, was really good.I'm hard to please but it was really good.

Review 102:Mixed views on reception friendliness and efficiency. 2 hour wait for room on checking in without much of an apology. No tea/coffee facilities in room so if you like a cuppa, bring a kettle!

Review 103:Spacious and comfortable room. Additional 30euros/day was well worth it for great sea views. Great lounge area next to pool for pre/after dinner drinks. Private path to beach which is right next to the hotel. Good restaurant with large choice on menu.

Review 104:We chose a 'superior' room which was very nice but despite being on 'special offer' still seemed on the expensive side. We didn't want to sit on our verandah because it was right beside the sunbathers by the pool. Having paid 140€ a night, we were charged 3€ for a boiled egg at breakfast - why?, when scrambled eggs were included in the 'B&B' room rate.

Review 105:Quiet location next to the beach and away from the town, although this is only a short walk away. There are good restaurants nearby. It's surrounded by nice countryside.

Review 106:The staff upon arrival were very friendly and this continued throughout our stay. The hotel was beautiful and our room was clean and modern. The hotel is on the beach which was perfect, and the centre is reachable by foot in 30mins, I would say this is the best hotel in Villasimius and I would definitely stay again.

Review 107:Excellent location, very nice grounds around the hotel: lots of greenery and flowers. good breakfast, friendly staff For lovers of birds - a large aviary with parrots)

Review 108:No closed dining room in case of cold weather. Noise. Too many workmen around. Watching them revealed obvious incompetence, e.g. dangerously cutting/fitting a polished furniture board with a chain saw (!).

Review 109:Nice beach. Good italian food.

Review 110:Our stay was too short !

Review 111:We appreciated the perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness of all the staff. They kept going the extra mile, always carrying a smile to make us feel welcome. The room was very well appointed, clean and comfortable. However, the highlight of our stay was the superb dining experience combining well presented delicious Sardinian specialties with classy service in a pleasant atmosphere. I almost forgot, the hotel is excellently located, right on the white sand beach.

Review 112:The main town Villasimius was a long walk, there was no bars or restaurants open near Hotel Simius therefore we had to walk out every evening.

Review 113:A beach location, and truly relaxing hotel.

Review 114:The only slight problem would maybe be the size of the pool but thisdidn't affect our stay. The hotel were in the process of building alovely jacuzzi area next to the green lawn though, we were gutted to nothave the benefits of this.

Review 115:The staff were so friendly they couldn't do enough for you. This isa lovely hotel very peaceful and in a perfect location if you arelooking to chill out right on the beach front. The town centre ofVillasimius is a two minute drive, it's a ten minute walk along along straight road so you can't go wrong. The breakfast at thehotel was nice, scrambled egg, toast, ham, salami, yogurts, fruit allin a buffet style so you just help yourself and the staff are alwaysaround offering you drinks hot and cold, they really are very friendlyand helpful. The Indian man at the hotel was our favourite he wasalways smiling and very pleasant to be around. The pool area is quitesmall but we preferred to sunbathe at either the beach or the greenlawn area that they have at the hotel with amazing sunbeds! We woulddefinitely recommend this hotel and would love to visit it again. Thedrive from the airport is an hour, it's best to drive in day lightbecause the hilly mountains are quite windy and narrow but if you takeit easy it won't be a problem. There are lots of private beachesalong the coast, caba carbonara was our personal favourite! Ourfavourite restaurant was also slightly out of town but not very far atall, about a 5 minute drive from the hotel, this was called lalanterna, amazing peppercorn Filet steaks that we had two nights in arow because it was so yummy! Sardinia has the most beautiful views andis very ideal for couples. Villasimius is very quiet and quaint but inthe most perfect way.

Review 116:The location is good. The suite with a seaview was amazing. The staff was friendly.Breakfast was also nice.2 amazing beaches are nearby(if you go by car)

Review 117:No amenitites for kids Arrived in Arpil - local town dead and weather poor

Review 118:Staff very friendly Location good for beach Junior suite very comfortable

Review 119:Prices of drinks are high and the additional charge for eggs at thebreakfast table (€3 extra for 1 boiled egg) is dissappointing.

Review 120:The location is faboulous and the hotel is spottless clean. They did agreat job creating a colonial kind of atmosphere. Staff is friendly.

Review 121:The personal should know more about opening times for restaurants and places to visit, and trekking-tracks i the area.

Review 122:Very good food, beautiful rooms and area. Loved the view towards the sea. Friendly personel.

Review 123:Mid april the water of the unheated pool was still very cold. Some degrees more would have made it possible to enjoy fully the garden & pool. This is probably no problem from May on, but this could make it the perfect hotel to relax even in April.

Review 124:warm, friendly and helpful staff offering a premium service. Neat rooms. Just in front of the beach, and 15' from the town.

Review 125:All was very good although a slightly bigger balcony would have been welcome.

Review 126:The location is great - a beautiful coastal drive from Cagliari. In early season (April) the beach is deserted and the town itself is just waking up for the summer - so lovely and peaceful. Staff at the hotel were great; they demonstrated a genuine pride in their business and a desire to please their guests.

Review 127:Amazing location, next to the beautiful beach. Great bar and restaurant and very helpful staff

Review 128:Internet connection in the room

Review 129:Distance from the beach. Established hotel and property with many loyal guest.

Review 130:An unheated pool.

Review 131:The staff were absolutely wonderful.

Review 132:Cleanigness, very nice staff, superb breakfast.

Review 133:Wi Fi absence really. V.poor

Review 134:Friendly helpful staff. Good food Grounds and location

Review 135:Too big hotel

Review 136:Staff is very friendly. The restaurant with serving personnel is super. Location is excellent.

Review 137:No elevator. Almost 2 hr drive from nearest airport.

Review 138:Great location and facilities. It's great to have on site entertainment as well.

The Fine Print

Please note that half-board rates include free parasols and sun beds at the beach, and does not include the first 2 rows of sun loungers nearest the sea. Half-board rates do not include drinks.
