Reviews for Port Palace

Review 1:Well - if you use the tub with the hydro jet turned on...be careful as the drain becomes a powerful suction - my husband's bum was sore!

Review 2:location and room was fantastic

Review 3:I had beautiful view but rooms doesn't have balconies. Also you can open a window very little. I don't understand this.

Review 4:Big room and location. Breakfast was good

Review 5:Everything! The Hotel was fabulous and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was spotlessly clean, Queen size bed was incredibly comfy, and the views were spectacular.

Review 6:There is a seafood restaurant connected to this hotel that "is not associated with this hotel"? Stay away from it ! ! Make sure if you pay for a Harbour View room that it is 5th floor or higher.

Review 7:The sad part of the hotel is that it smells very very bad. As a result I did not dare go to the spa due to the horrible smell which came as far as my room which was on the 4th floor. So the price quality for the hotel is not worth it at all.

Review 8:I liked the view of my hotel. It was over looking the castle and water. a minute walk from the Yacht show.

Review 9:The hotel looked tired and in need of an upgrade. Public areas were great but rooms in need of some attention.

Review 10:The proximity to everything from Harbour, Casino, Palace and shopping was excellent.

Review 11:Excellent location, we think the best possible in Monaco. With the elevator to the top floor, only five minutes walking to the Casino. Via the lobby only five minutes walking to La Rascasse. Staff was professional.

Review 12:The location of the hotel is excellent-right on the waterfront and in close proximity to the railway station and the Casino. The room was very large as was the bathroom. We found the staff extremely pleasant and helpful at all times.

Review 13:The administrator could not find our booking in the system so we were waiting for 1 hour. They gave us a suite so it was worth to wait;) Breakfast in the room pretty simple for 30EUR per person...

Review 14:Nice 4star hotel, perfect location to explore the Monaco. Parking available.

Review 15:Stupid rule of not being allowed to bring in your own drink eg bottles of water or coffee, also we weren't told about immediately being hit for a €100 mini bar deposit

Review 16:Location excellent, right in the harbour at Monte Carlo

Review 17:The grill around the air conditioning vent had black mould. We asked for it to be cleaned but they said it wouldn't hurt us. In the end we cleaned it.

Review 18:The location of this hotel is fantastic. Booked it on a special deal and couldn't have been happier. Looking over the Harbour in Monte Carlo to The Palace - just perfect

Review 19:Smell in lobby everyday. Too expensive for what you get in venue and service. For price of room, no fruit or welcome gift/letter of any kind.

Review 20:Linen is of good quality

Review 21:Everything beautifully clean in rooms EXCEPT for filty large vent (airconditioning I think)

Review 22:Excellent location - large spacious rooms with perfect views of harbour - friendly staff but no facilities at all

Review 23:Dinner very expensive - example: grilled fish = 105 euros, includes meal for one person totaling 182 euros.

Review 24:Centrally located for cruise ship boarding; very walkable location for around town excursions; bus 110 from Nice airport takes you within walking distance to hotel

Review 25:High charges for everything such as in room mineral water and coffee sachets. Breakfast not served on beautiful terrace as implied but next to reception.

Review 26:Location is excellent, staff friendly

Review 27:The fact that they asked me to come down to reception to pay for my stay while I was still there another night! I thought that was extremely rude. Then when I didn't, I found that they had charged the card I used to reserve my booking without asking me, I found out at check out (which was the wrong card). My bank charged me a lot of commission to use that card abroad. When I asked them to refund and use the correct card they said they couldn't. I was very very annoyed at the whole thing and it ruined our stay.

Review 28:The location.

Review 29:It's pricey but it's Monaco and located right in the prime area.

Review 30:Location and the room incredible. Loved the exit both top and bottom that cuts a lot of hill climbing.

Review 31:facilities not great, restaurant on top floor looked very nice however the prices scary, but hey this is Monte Carlo! not guest freindly having a note telling you that bringing anything to eat or drink into the rooms will result in a charge!!! please, get real this is unheard of these days! No milk for the tea!

Review 32:location was good, the view from the 5th floor rooms fantastic. the size of the room was excellent.

Review 33:The staff were absolutely superb: very welcoming and helpful. They really made our stay. Our room (suite) was enormous and had a fabulous view of the yachts berthed in the marina. Would love to stay here again.

Review 34:The seriously bad attitudes from ALL staff. The restaurant staff were the worst, especially the girls who think they are above the guests on reception (please remember that we pay your wages)

Review 35:Nothing

Review 36:Not much really, we were a little nervous handing over our car keys to the valet as driving around Monaco during the day is a risky affair in terms of dings and dents, but we needn't have worried as she was returned to us safe and sound the following day. We would've liked a quick drive around Monaco after midnight when the roads are quiet, but the valets finish at midnight so you have no access to your car after that. Perhaps source your own parking if that's something you may want to do. Other than that, no concerns at all.

Review 37:The hotel is in a fantastic location, the staff were great and so was the room - a junior suite overlooking the marina.

Review 38:I feel like this hotel needs a renovation, it felt a little outdated.

Review 39:When we arrived, we were fortunate enough to be upgraded to a junior suite. This was a nice surprise as our room and bathroom/s were huge, it was a great size!! The staff were very friendly and willing to please. The breakfast was good. The location was central, in the heart of Monaco.

Review 40:Cubby hole for reception. No English and not much French either. No concierge. €4 for a coffee capsule. Very expensive mini bar. €20 fine if you bring in anything from outside that's available from the mini bar (for each offence). Tried a Vodka from the Mini bar but someone had drunk the Vodka and replaced it with water!!!! No free water provided. Had a win at the casino so called into the rooftop bar/restaurant for a coffee & cognac. Couldn't get any service so left. And all that for only €452 a night... It's a steal alright. Sold as luxury but it's a

Review 41:Although double glazed but the window doesn't have an air tight fit so traffic noise is noticeable. Considering the cost of the room, would have appreciated free tea & coffee rather than a miserly 2 coffee pods or 2 sachet lemon tea allowance. The restaurant on the 6th floor is not run by the hotel, but was suggested to use. Beware that it is very expensive & our service experience didn't match the cost of the meal as we waited an hour from ordering the meal to being served.

Review 42:Room very spacious Bed extra large & comfortable Great views of the harbour Staff friendly & helpful. Valet service was very good.

Review 43:- The room is equipped with a Nespresso capsule coffee maker, however 4 Euros for one capsule seems a bit overpriced - even for Monaco.

Review 44:- Friendly and helpful staff everywhere - Large room with a nearly bigger bathroom - The room / the whole hotel was very new furnished - Restaurant on top of the hotel with excellent view (Did not eat there) - Well-stocked mini-bar

Review 45:Great location - between the Casino area and the Palace - very important with Taxis on strike! Right on the front at the port - full of fabulous yachts

Review 46:Staff very helpful and friendly and hotel overlooking Port Hercule and minutes away from the Casino Square. Great location – clean and modern hotel. Would definitely recommend. We stayed one night before picking up cruise ship the next day.

Review 47:no milk for the tea, 4 Euros for a small cup of coffee in the room.

Review 48:The room was enormous, the view was spectacular, bed very comfortable, bathroom out of this world

Review 49:We booked a harbour view room and was given level one looking at the backs of boats with no water visible. Also, a pod coffee machine was available but the pods cost 4 euro each if you use them. The bathroom cabinet was badly chipped and in poor condition as was the floor surface!

Review 50:Location was excellent

Review 51:I was kept awake however with a loud buzzing sound possibly from air con. We were situated on floor 5 so possibly in the roof? I was walking around at 0300 trying to locate the noise to turn it off!!

Review 52:Port palace was very tidy, great facilities and lovely rooms.

Review 53:1. my room is suppose to have ocean view, but blocked by all the yachts. 2. it is on the pricier side comparing to the same level hotel.

Review 54:staff, facilities, location

Review 55:as most venues the wheelchair room was not a luxury suite. we booked a luxury suite but had to be downgraded as this was not an option for disabled.

Review 56:Location was central to boating, all major transport and easy to access.

Review 57:Nothing bad! The ability to turn Air-con OFF would be appreciated next time. Room 504 is directly below restaurant and live music until late is annoying if you want to sleep. SO is the chair movement by cleaners at 3am!

Review 58:Location opposite the Marina, close to Casino square, restaurants and shops. Helpful, pleasant staff. Good valet parking. Hot bacon and eggs for breakfast! Beautiful spacious suit overlooking the Marina with well stocked mini bar!

Review 59:Can't bring anything into your room (food or drinks) at the risk of a fine and no tea making ability only Nespresso at €4 per capsule...as tea drinkers this was very frustrating.

Review 60:We loved the view over the super yachts in the harbour and watching them come & go...such an opulent lifestyle....walking distance to everything.

Review 61:Very large rooms, huge beds, bathroom with bathtub and shower, free wifi, etc... There is nothing bad about this hotel and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Review 62:We don't normally stay in expensive hotels but we just had to see how the other half lives, and we weren't disappointed. This is a quality hotel in a wonderful location. The staff were great and didn't bat an eyelid when we drove up in my battered old car. It was valet parking, and they moved it pretty quickly.

Review 63:Room was a no smoking room but smelt of cigarettes. Room not serviced, bathroom fittings were poor quality for money charged for room

Review 64:Location to Grand Prix, friendliness of staff

Review 65:Stayed here for 2 nights and already planning next years trip. This hotel is beautiful, the room was large, spacious and comfortable, the view out to the harbor was wonderful. The staff are very friendly, hotel has valet parking which was good and all the drivers helpful. Would highly recommend.

Review 66:First and second floor: no harbor view, don't pay for this rooms...what you can see from the windows, only trees... hotel shouldn't say for this rooms that they have a panoramic view...

Review 67:close to the Casino square.

Review 68:The restaurant food and service was exceptionally poor, given it was supposed to have a Michelin star rating. Very disappointing.

Review 69:The room and the amenities.

Review 70:Everything is better than you expect from a 4 star hotel. With the location and the roof terrace this is one of the best places for taking your aperitif...

Review 71:30 euros to park the car overnight was a little steep but there was no option of doing anything else really.

Review 72:Great location right on the harbour front with a window overlooking all the boats and yachts in the harbour. The hotel was comfortable, perhaps not quite as fancy as we thought it may have been but for the location and cost we were more than happy. Especially when the man drove our car to a car park for us.. We had no idea where to park so it was great that was all taken care of.

Review 73:Everything, but the best was the lovely young beautiful front desk girl who spoken English well! She was so helpful and attentive. She made my stay special. Thank you to the lovely girl!!

Review 74:- The hotel and staff are fantastic. We got an upgrade to a luxury room which was huge. The bathroom was as big as some hotel rooms! - Great location overlooking the Marina and part of the F1 track - Perfect location to walk either direction up to the palace, or past the Casino and beyond. Highly Recommended.

Review 75:No real choice to eat in the restaurant with only one meat dish no good if you are allergic to fish and seafood, Steak was considerably overpriced and terrible

Review 76:The situation that the hotel was in,was the best part

Review 77:Lobby very underwhelming. Small check in and breakfast appears to be temporarily located in lobby! Looked very amateur and temporary? Felt that the hotel was semi closed but apparently it was full!

Review 78:Rooms great. Potentially a bit noisy as right on road but good views across harbour.

Review 79:The TV was disappointing - the only UK channels were SKY News, BBC prime and BBC world - so okay for news but really poor for entertainment. It took a while to get the Wi-Fi on my phone to work - but once i addressed it at the reception it worked within a few hours.

Review 80:The location of the hotel is superb - view over the harbour. As Monaco is so small you are able to walk everywhere - however be aware that it is on several levels so there will be some steep climbs. Room was amazing, spa bath, lovely comfy bed, big windows - and delicious chocolates on the bed (and a weather forecast!) every day. The breakfast was really nice, freshly baked bread and croissants and some hot choices...lovely fruits and cakes too....very good service.

Review 81:I am so glad I chose Port Palace, the location was perfect, the room lovely and spacious, the staff always polite and helpful. I would be very hard pushed to find fault

Review 82:There is a good restaurant on top of the hotel, where we had great dinner. Unfortunatelly the day after we both got sick and probably have been poisoned from oysters.

Review 83:Very good location right in the port, every room has a great view.

Review 84:Everything was perfect, but be warned. If you bring in your own food or drink you will be subject to a €20 violation penalty pp per item!

Review 85:The location and decor is first rate. The staff are friendly and very amiable. Nothing is to much for them. A truly special hotel.

Review 86:very expenses however we new it would be before we went. In one bar we paid 30 euros for a pint of larger & a bottle of wine started at 100 euros , but u only live once.

Review 87:best location for everything , casino , gardens, palace

Review 88:Everything. Location and amazing room with a fantastic bathroom with a jacuzzi bath. View of harbour and a lift nearby to take you up to the centre square to the casino.

Review 89:Unless you are on a top floor - above the 3 level - you do not get any kind of view of the harbour which was a key selling feature of the hotel. The reception staff was not very helpful and there is no concierge to help with restaurants, activities etc. Given the pricing of the hotel we felt this was a huge deficit.

Review 90:Port Palace had very large rooms which were clean and nicely appointed although a bit dated. The breakfast was plentiful and had great variety. Porters and breakfast staff were excellent.

Review 91:Roomed smelt musty.

Review 92:Beautiful and luxurious hotel right on the marina and walking distance to centre. Bus excursion leaves 30 mtrs on same street as hotel. 5 mins walk to casino.

Review 93:No real view from room on the first floor, when advertising stated harbour view.

Review 94:Close to everything, friendly helpful staff, beautiful room, bathroom and restaurant.

Review 95:Would have preferred proper tables in the breakfast buffet.

Review 96:Excellent views of the stunning super yachts which crowd this beautiful Harbour, from your room. Excellent location for a stroll along the Harbour to the many restaurants nearby

Review 97:Some noise from window...in the early hours you can hear young lads in their fast cars whipping along past the hotel towards the tunnel. There was not a kettle with tea/coffee and milk as described on Booking.com..only an expresso coffee maker and a €4 charge for each coffee.

Review 98:Brilliant view of Hercule Harbour from our window on 4th floor. Spacious room and bathroom. You can take the elevator to floor 6 and exit the hotel then cross the road and take the elevator in the car park up towards the casino. Also loved Monaco-Ville across the harbour.

Review 99:Perfect hotel. Was fairly priced for Monte Carlo. Amazing location, staff was helpful and even upgraded our room since it was my girlfriends birthday. Would highly recommend.

Review 100:Value for money is all relative as monaco is a very expensive place. We stayed one night here as part of our honeymoon as a special treat. If you were staying in any other city, the facilities such as the spa and outdoor space would not be good value for money but in monaco, you need to pay a lot more for this. The terrace restaurant view was stunning but you had to be eating or drinking to enjoy this.

Review 101:The staff were great and very friendly and accommodating. Location on the port was excellent. Could easily walk to all that monaco had to offer and amazing views of the port and palace. Tasteful decor, great bathroom with jacuzzi bath, clean and comfy. The hotel kindly left us a card, a bottle of wine, chocolates and fruit to celebrate our honeymoon.

Review 102:There was no bar area in the hotel for relaxing at after a day of sightseeing. Also, even though we knew the hotel did not have a pool, we didn't realise how much we would miss having that facility.

Review 103:Hotel has a great location right at the side of the port. Our room was on the 4th floor so we had great views of the super yachts coming and going. The hotel is exceptionally clean. The rooms are big and well air conditioned.

Review 104:Location, location, location Were visiting friends in Monaco, during Italy holiday, staff looked after car, parked in relatively cheap garage, a nice and welcome touch.

Review 105:I supposed to pay with cash... The day before I was leaving one employee at the reception wasn't giving my room key unless I paid him. It was very rude and unprofessional behavior.i felt terrible.it was like a threat.they made me feel like a thief or a criminal.if they wanted a guarantee for the stay, they should have asked before giving me a room.i had my stuff in my room, far more expensive than the sum for my stay.it was unacceptable.i don't understand their policy...in Monte Carlo will be always a second choice hotel comparing to the luxurious, professional but more expensive hotels.for this experience I will not choose this hotel next years.

Review 106:The view was amazing.the price was good comparing to other hotels nearby.it has quality.very clean and perfect decoration.everyone working in this hotel is very kind, helpful and happy.they make your day.

Review 107:The hotel no longer has a restaurant despite what it states on its website.

Review 108:The room was a good size and very clean. You have a lovely view if the harbour from the room.

Review 109:We were Allocated a room in basement. A lot if noise from outside and noise from people walking alongside the room. The room allocated looked nothing like the one we saw on the internet. My kids were offered a room that is far from our room and it is also on the basement. The breakfast was Horrible

Review 110:The main restaurant in the hotel looked good but we could not get a table so we had to eat at other locations and the staff were arrogant and not interested in the hotel guest, it seems that this restaurant prefers non hotel guest and we were very disappointed as we wanted to try the food, the people in charge were not interested in our business so were managed to find a great restaurant which we used during our stay and the management and staff were very nice and helpful. I had noticed poor reviews of the hotel restaurant prior to booking but the hotel had great reviews so I was not surprised when the restaurant lived up to its poor reviews.

Review 111:the location was great and the staff at reception were very good.

Review 112:having to leave a deposit for the mini bar. leaving my car to be parked by a total stranger..

Review 113:location friendly helpful staff room with a view room design/decor presentation. shower - big enough for two..

Review 114:Write up in Booking.com sounds like this hotel is very fancy whenit isn'tRooms on First floor very dark as underneath portico Hotel has ridiculous policy whereby it will fine you 20 Euros pp per violation if you bring any of your own food or drink into the room! (Money making scam!) Advice: bring it in, don't throw it in the bin!

Review 115:View out over harbour - unless you get put in a first floor room (argueto be moved higher)

Review 116:the price of lunch in the rooftop restaurant was absolutely extortionate for what we ate - no desserts and over 300 euros with a bottle of prosecco.Having visited high class restaurants all over the world this was just unreasonable in our view.

Review 117:location, and ambience. Room capacity wonderful - good value fo money in a prime location

Review 118:Had to upgrade to a higher floor for the view. 60EUR, hidden cost but worth it after all.

Review 119:Room very spacious, location and view superb. Car valet service excellent. Definitely worth recommending.

Review 120:Ordered breakfast in room, cold when it arrived... But staff were fabulous

Review 121:Fantastic position and view across the harbour, easy reach of town and attractions

Review 122:Rude room service staff. On our first night we wanted to take a shower at 1am before going to sleep and I called room service because there was only one bath robe and one pair of slippers in the room, and we were two. Answer on the phone: "What time did you check in?" I thought this was odd and said: "about 6pm". Reply: "And why do you call now? You should have called earlier." I did not believe my ears. I said I only noticed there was one robe now. "How many people did you check in?" I was getting nervous and said: "Two". Maybe they thought I had a single room and had just picked up some company in the street? My girlfriend was not amused. I had indeed checked in me and my girlfriend. "You should have told us ealier, it's a question of organization, you will get a bath robe in the morning." I could not believe it. "We want to take a shower now, please. Yes it is a question of organization and it is your job!" I replied. "Let me see if there is an empty room near yours, otherwise you'll have to wait till morning." I have never been treated like this in any hotel, let alone a luxury establishment. Five minutes later someone did show up with the additional bath robe and slippers. I reported all of the above at check-out and there was an apology but no compensation. They might have made a gesture with free parking or something... maybe a gift of a bath robe! :) I would say look elsewhere, this is not worth the money.

Review 123:Excellent location ad spacious rooms. Good valet parking even if a bit expensive.

Review 124:Tv in room didnt work!!

Review 125:Good location

Review 126:Everything

Review 127:Gorgeous huge room overlooking the port. Lovely friendly staff

Review 128:nothing

Review 129:Great location and view!

The Fine Print
