Reviews for Pousadela - Agroturismo
Review 1:Relaxing atmosphere, friendliness of staff, excellent value for money in the dining room, quality wines at reasonable prices. We enjoyed it far more than the bigger hotels.
Review 2:Nothing.
Review 3:There are many aspects of Pousadela Agroturismo which we liked: Wonderful staff who giave us service beyond the call of duty. Sergio and Paolo helped us to plan an itinerary for the rest of our holiday - simply because they wanted to ensure that we could experience what we were looking to enjoy in Portugal. Rita's culinary creations were equal to what you can expect in a "hatted" restaurant. This was the best food we had during our entire stay in Portugal. Everything was cooked to perfection using fresh ingredients and a balance of flavours. Such a welcome departure from the over cooked salty and over fried dishes we had experienced in the cities. Sergio's infectious enthusiasm and passion for sharing his knowledge of Food, culture and history of Portugal. We learnt so much from him. The fine service we received from all the staff with special mention for Paolo, Rita and Sergio. The beautiful cottage we stayed in and would have loved to have extended our stay even further. All the apartments in the complex are spacious, beautifully furnished with architectural features such as stone walls, timber finishes etc. they are all new and sparklingly clean. The perfect location of the Pousadela with access to acres of vineyards, walking trails and the chance to participate in the harvest. Need also to mention the proximity to Amarante and all the delights offered there as well. This is also an Artist's dream with time on hand to wander around the area and paint or sketch at will.
Review 4:We loved the homemade vinho verde, and Rita's home cooked food, especially the clams. Everyone was incredibly friendly - this was the best place we stayed in Portugal.
Review 5:We were not told in advance that there was no restaurant service on Mondays. The signs to the location and to the actual buildings could be repainted.
Review 6:Our hosts, the location, fellow guests and the food were excellent, but Mondays .... The location is spectacularly remote....
Review 7:Location beautiful, relaxing and calm. Accomodation has all you need except maybe an electric kettle for those who did not have self catering Food excellent quality
Review 8:Nothing bad but maybe the breakfast could have been better.
Review 9:The apartments were very good and the pool and its setting was fabulous. The restaurant was also excellent as was the wine from the vinyard. I'd like to go back.
Review 10:Wifi only really works at the restaurant but they did let us know this on arrival so can't really complain!
Review 11:The service was outstanding and very friendly and eager to please. Room so sweet and views breathtaking. The pool was gorgeous and we had a delicious dinner (only 2 options but loads of food and v high standard).
Review 12:- The WiFi of the rooms was unusable during the day (too many concurrent devices, download bandwidth of 0,01 Mbps, lots of connection drops). However during the night when everybody sleeps it was correct (+- 3 Mbps downstream). For the day, there is a correct WiFi in the restaurant, but this means you have to go there. - Be carefull concerning the location: if you don't have a car it's actually far from town center of Amarante (8 km) and hard to access; but if you have a car then there is no problem (and the place is beautiful!), go for it ;-)
Review 13:- The very welcoming staff - The environment (just in the beginning of kind of a forest, very nice, peaceful and beautiful !) - The swimming pool, large, hot enough and well oriented to enjoy the sunset - The air conditioning in the room
Review 14:Our hosts were professional and yet relaxed, helpful and friendly. The setting is idealic, and it's rather a challenge to find, but well worth a little confusion. Breakfast was substancial and healthy too.
Review 15:An excellent place to get away from city life; gorgeous mountain views; excellent restaurant; generous, helpful owners and staff; very good value; nature activities; easy bus access to Porto.
Review 16:Liked everything.
Review 17:A true little gem in beautiful surroundings. Really enjoyed staying there. Excellent value for money. We had lovely breakfast plus very tasty food in the restaurant every night. Sergio serving there is fantastic, great and interesting to chat to and very helpful. We can highly recommend this is place.
Review 18:Nothing really. At a push, I woukd say it would have been nice if they served eggs at breakfast (only relevant because I'm celisc).
Review 19:Being out in the countryside , having a feeling of staying in someone's home but having lots of space from the hosts and other visitors.
Review 20:We loved the beautiful rural setting and swimming pool. The owners and staff were so helpful and accommodating. The rooms are so creatively designed to keep their sense of history.
Review 21:The place is so special. It looks like an ancient tiny village that has been restored, in keeping the beauty of the old stones. It's located in the middle of a beautiful landscape: forest and vineyard. Paolo and Rita was a very kindfull and relaxe couple. It was a great expérience for us to be there...especially after a crazy journey in Lisbon. The only problem for us: we booked monday and thuesday so didn't have the chance to try their restaurant. But at least, we tasted the vinho verde made in la Pousadela. It was amazing, the best we had in the area! The place is a must for those who want to enjoy a peacefull moment in a beautiful environment.
Review 22:We had some nice days in Amarante, difficult to find but an excellent place to stay with friendly people, English and French speaking couple, which made it possible to have contact. Paulo and Rita, Thanks and we really want to come back one day
Review 23:It wasn’t clear from the information on Booking.com that Pousadela is an appreciable distance from Amarante, nor that it is more suitable for an extended stay, rather than our single night. Our room was small and basic, but it was remarkably cheap, and the owners assured us that more spacious and comfortable accommodation was available if we were staying longer.
Review 24:This would be an excellent place to stop for several nights to explore the Douro valley. The owners are charming and hospitable, and welcomed us with a complimentary bottle of their own Vinho Verde, chilled and fruitily delicious. The location is way up in the hills above Amarante, a pretty town about 15 minutes’ drive away, so not easy to pop in for an evening meal, but the Quinta has what is reputed to be a decent restaurant. Unfortunately for us, it isn’t open on Mondays, the one night we stayed. The farm offers interesting-looking trail biking and walking, and the owner gives guided tours of local bodegas in the comfort of a couple of his classic cars: the BMW 635 CSI appealed greatly, but alas, it was time to move on. We would go back for a longer stay.
Review 25:None.
Review 26:Setting of the property. Historic buildings.
Review 27:Friendly, efficient service, in comfortable and beautiful rural setting. The evening meals were of the highest standard. Superb cooking.
Review 28:It was a bit remote, hard to find but a jewel once at hand.
Review 29:Very beautiful setting, amazing staff.
Review 30:Not easy to find the quinta
Review 31:Calm, nice surroundings with well renovated and decorated quinta, good food, good reception,
Review 32:Nothing
Review 33:Beautiful location, lovely old buildings restored to an excellent standard
Review 34:Hospitality, location, quality of the accommodation, wonderful food, home produced excellent wines, swimming pool, peace and quiet.
Review 35:Quiet country setting. Superb accomodation in modern villas built in traditional granite. Excellent restaurant on-site.
Review 36:Site still under construction, this should have been stated.
Review 37:Lack of pressure
Review 38:Amazing!!! Everything was just perfect. Very peaceful. Great place forhiking as well....
Review 39:the amazing location
Review 40:The bed was not very comfortable and it was a shame with such a magnificent setting not to have a more relaxing outdoor sitting area. Otherwise, could not be faulted.
Review 41:A big thank you to Paulo, Rita, Manel and Joana for a very laid back start to our holiday. Beautiful Quinta, lovely wine. Many thanks
Review 42:Our stay at Pousadela was perfect - Rita and Paulo are wonderfully nice and welcoming, the location is stunning and the guesthouse is newly and tastefully renovated with everything you might need. The food at the restaurant was the best we had in Portugal, and the wine, also made by Pousadela, was excellent.
Review 43:This was a fantastic place to stay - a bit difficult to find as it is well outside Amarante. Even though I had printed out a map from Google, it was further along the twisty hillside road than we thought. Once there, it is a delight. Wonderful views, very comfortable and appointed room, very quiet all night - and if you like stars, you get a really good view without 'light' pollution. All this, including a simple breakfast, for 30€ is incredible. We shall definitely return as part of a tour of norther Portugal. You really must not miss this place. The food in the resaurant is first-rate and much of it (including the best wine I have tasted) comes from the farm. You really must go there to believe it !!!
Review 44:The only thing we didn't like, is that we had to leave.
Review 45:The owners were some of the most delightful people we've ever met. The accommodations were gorgeous. The setting was breathtaking, and of course the wine - the most amazing Vino Verde I've ever tasted!
Review 46:Wonderful, but too short stay in this paradise! Hope to come back one day! Best wine I tasted in Portugal!
