Reviews for Fairmont Monte Carlo
Review 1:We were 2 couples from the friend room diamond ring was stolen we called the security for the case ınvestigation was very poor just apalogy There was no even a message from the hotel manager send basket or etc to the room
Review 2:I arranged a transfer though the hotel from Nice airport. Upon arrival no one was waiting for me. When I called the hotel, three different desks (Reception, the Bell Desk and finally the duty manager) were trying to find my transfer booking and none of them could. To my luck there were still taxis at the airport despite the very late hour. Next morning my transfer booking was miraculously discovered, and they called to apologize that "the driver got stuck in traffic". What traffic at that hour? The road was empty. Clearly they simply mislaid the booking in the first place.
Review 3:A large centrally located hotel. I booked a room with a sea view. It was large and comfortable. Room service was flawless. I would have given it a solid 10 out of 10, has they not forgotten to pick me up from the airport.
Review 4:The bag drop off is a bit awkward They took our bags when we arrived and didn't give us a receipt. We had to track them down.
Review 5:Location is excellent The restaurant overlooking the sea is fantastic and the view amazing,
Review 6:Very late check in , but the staff was kind and made me an upgrade so it went on well !
Review 7:Perfect location , majical view and a great swimming pool , definitely coming back
Review 8:We asked for a late check out - although it was extended to 1pm, it was made very clear this was a big favour to us! Having to pay €19 for WiFi - a day!
Review 9:Great sized rooms with sea view. Good choice of restaurants to choose from - Nobu and Saphir24 (food day & night!). Roof top pool is a great size.
Review 10:WIFI signal in room was poor at times, especially as it wasn't free. Very intermittent or slow at times. Also, rooftop restaurant and champagne bar were closed for season, despite being advertised as open until end of October.
Review 11:Service was of a high quality. Facilities which were available were also high class. Location was fantastic and staff were wonderful.
Review 12:All staff were not attentive or particularly welcoming. Concierge did little more than give us tourist maps- they didn't even have menus to look at or offer to make reservations for us. Room decor was dated and the duvet had a stain on it at arrival.
Review 13:The location allowed us to walk to many places. The Horizon restaurant had good food. Our room was very quiet I think because they had low occupancy. Room was large.
Review 14:We booked a room with a balcony and on arrival it was an large open communal balcony so you couldn't really sit out and then in the mornings to find someone using our sun beds to sit and smoke on it felt very exposed and would have like a more private balcony And also one that wasn't made of unsightly concrete which made it feel like a car park
Review 15:Nice breakfast area nice pool and spa
Review 16:I felt poor treated and as though we were shunned to a very poor room as we had booked through bookings.com Did not like the following -first nights room was two beds, had asked for King. - first nights room squashed bugs on walls. First nights room, dingey, stains on carpet and hadn't been upgraded in a very long time. - apparently could move us, not even if we paid to upgrade. - manager offered wine as compensation. Very unreasonable compensation for 500 plus a night room. - 2nd day first room, cigaret burns on carpets, stains on sheets and carpets. Filthy walls. - moved to another room same day and shower didn't work, phone in room didn't work, the list goes on and on.
Review 17:There was nothing note worthy at all within the hotel, the entire experience was very poor and will have a detrimental effect on me utilizing booking.com again and I will never stay in a Fairmont again!
Review 18:The staff were always so polite and helpful and the view was fantastic over the med. It was expensive but completely worth it for a special holiday. We loved it.
Review 19:Room service a bit slow - a few communication difficulties.
Review 20:Location in Monte Carlo. Nikki's Beach bar. Breakfast on our balcony. No issue with 3 to a room.
Review 21:The hotel is extremely outdated. It needs to be renovated. For a standard room of such quality, it is over priced.
Review 22:The location of the hotel is excellent.
Review 23:Check-In - arrived at 2pm, 1 hour before check-in which was fine, went back to desk at 3pm as requested by staff, but told room would not be ready until 5pm. We were given another room which was not the room requested & not up to standard, eventually given another room which was fine.
Review 24:Great location, excellent facilities
Review 25:After thr cleaning our bathrobes dissappeared:( It was inconvenient.
Review 26:Monte Carlo is one of my favorite cities & Fairmont MC is one of my favorite hotels. I liked almost everything...
Review 27:Hotel needs some maintenance, the air conditioning wasn't cooling our room enough and we asked them to fix it but they did not, beds are super hard and if you ask for a foam topper they don't have any and tell you to sleep on a blanket. Would have liked free wifi. Everyone smokes and there are no designated non smoking areas at restaurants n pool. Casino was empty and parts of it shut down. Bongs n pot at the pool.
Review 28:Food and view were excellent.
Review 29:Pool is great but music so loud not relaxing but we liked it. Some people might not.
Review 30:Location, views, food! Overall great hotel pricey though but it's a experience.
Review 31:main bar on ground floor - service very poor indeed - staff seemed to go out of their way to ignore customers.
Review 32:Fantastic location and staff in the Horizon restaurant were brilliant.
Review 33:Bad experience with the music at the swimming pool - unbearable- no way to relax - music is annoying - even in the bedrooms it was annoying - it ruined my stay there - just for this reason I won't go back there - ( this is something we were many to complain)
Review 34:Nice atmosphere for breakfast with view
Review 35:Overal too expensive for what they offer, their services are poor I think cause they had too many people. It's not up to the standards of the fairmont chain
Review 36:The rooms were nice and great location
Review 37:The bathrooms are tired, as are the corridors, the hotel needs a make over.
Review 38:Great location and impressive lobby, the hub and atmosphere makes this hotel.
Review 39:The first afternoon, we went up to the Nikki Beach on the 7th floor. We requested a couch and began ordering drinks. Coming from similar day club experiences in Vegas, Los Angeles and Miami, the service was pathetic. They brought our first bottle of Grey Goose and mixers, yet failed to bring out glasses. We had to wait 15 minutes hoping any server would see us again before we finally got tired of waiting and just went and asked for empty glasses at the bar. Throughout the rest of the day, asking for any other request took way too much time. Ice refills, food orders and any other drink order seemed to take way too long. As good as the service was everywhere else at the Fairmont resort, the service at the pool felt completely lacking and poor.
Review 40:For the most part, the entire staff, service and amenities was top notch. Upon check-in, Chloe at the front desk was very helpful and polite. Our room wasn't ready yet, but she made it a point to get us situated as fast as possible. The hotel property is in a great location and the every restaurant and view feels luxurious.
Review 41:Having to pay for WiFi.
Review 42:Best hotel staff we've come across. One night here was a treat for us, but were made to feel as welcome as regulars. Bed was ridiculously comfortable, location was perfect and the view (thanks to an upgrade) was wonderful.
Review 43:Leaking a/c, broken switcher between tap and douche, despite the information of privileges for guests to book sunbeds near the pool you can't get any of them. Noone cares of your luggage. 3 stars maximum. 200 euro per night at high season maximum
Review 44:I feel that wifi should have been included in our room rate, nott set up as an extra charge. At over $800 dollars a night it classless to pay extra for wifi. Just increase the room rate to cover it rather than asking folks to pay more.
Review 45:This location is beautiful.
Review 46:Our room was under Nikki Beach pool. Music going all day. Also, It would have been nice to have another pool that wasn't Nikki Beach. Hard to relax with pumping loud music all day long. Service was passive, no one approaches you.
Review 47:Location amazing. Nobu on site was excellent.
Review 48:Wifi should be free!! I didn't like being allocated a certain seat by the pool. Not being allowed to choose my own sun lounger made me feel uncomfortable stuck in between Nikki Beach posers.
Review 49:Excellent location, would not stay anywhere else in Monte Carlo.
Review 50:Food at the Horizons was mixed - fabulous seafood salad but Veal steak while generous was very dry. Nikki beach is in my opinion completely inappropriate at this location. It attracts the 'wrong' kind of people and means nowhere to lounge quietly by a pool. Shame - spoilt an otherwise pleasant stay.
Review 51:Great location and very comfortable rooms. Staff very helpful in hotel and restaurant.
Review 52:Not great value for money, on top of already expensive room, you have to pay extras for breakfast, car parking, and sun beds on the swimming pool. But hey, welcome to Monaco!
Review 53:Great location just above the famous Formula 1 tunnel and next to the Monte Carlo casino. Nice amenities within walking distance, and the Nobu restaurant at the hotel has a great outdoor spot.
Review 54:I was shocked when I was asked to pay 19 euro for 24 hours of Internet when I'm paying over $500AUD a night to stay at the hotel!!!!
Review 55:Lovely staff. Nikki beach rooftop was amazing and best view of Monte Carlo. Room service was quick.
Review 56:Long check in and out cues, overcrowded non hotel guest exclusive pool area with too few sunbeds. Long wait for breakfast buffet, rooms need freshening up, overall felt like being on a package tour and not a 5 star hotel
Review 57:Location is great and views from rooms and restaurant are very nice.
Review 58:Generally hotel was OK but for what you pay it should be fantastic. Drinks prices are ridiculous and while bar gave good service the pool service was dreadful. No assistance with drinks , no help with loungers , had to sign twice as they lost receipt etc. P!us they charge e30 for a lounger near the pool when you are already paying for a room. I'm comparing Fairmont to four seasons as they have same prices in general and on this experience they have a long way to go. The bathroom is desperately in need of modernisation as its about 20 years old in style although it is very clean. Last word goes to the 12 or so people at the door who were all too busy watching cars to either hold open doors ( had one closed right in my face) or help us with bags up or down stairs
Review 59:Great location
Review 60:Everything was fine. The hotel itself could be refurbished. There are damages in the corridor ways and the exterior of the hotel could use a paint job desperately.
Review 61:We really like the Seaview room which was clean and very comfortable. The staff was nice and polite. The location is very central.
Review 62:The rooms had 2 queen beds not king size as required. The breakfast was very poor , ran out of food ,long wait for fresh food . Swimming pool was disgusting , it seems they let non residents into the pool, therefore it's far too busy and noise levels of the music were horrendous. Very untidy area more like a club than a swimming pool. I had a manicure and pedicure in the Spa it was terrible very unsatisfactory . Charge for parking was 50 euros per night , excessive The Nobu restaurant was not great , food was just ok but service was poor eg waited 15 minutes for cocktail to arrive Lots more to say Advise against anyone staying here
Review 63:The location was ok
Review 64:Checkout day was frantic. Too many people in line and the TV checkout was not working. Our view sad. We looked into a circular courtyard at other hotel room balconies. Pathetic for the nightly rate paid.
Review 65:Beautiful hotel for the most part, with an excellent staff. The bed was very comfortable.
Review 66:The mini bar was almost empty when we arrived in the room, I call the room service for the situation but at the check out was 130 € for minibar charge-they want to charge the missing items from minibar. At the end was ok, but unplesent. To be a mom with a kid and to be charged for vodka. And a lot of other. So, first check the mini bar.
Review 67:Excelent location, very nice staff, big room, big terasse, big beds, iron and iron table in the room, arangement for beach nearby, Nikki Beach on the roof, 24 h restaurant open, Nobu restaurant
Review 68:Hotel is too big to find my room! Need extra 100euro for beach view! Charged wi-fi!
Review 69:Just Monaco! Exclusive Beach service is great! Everything is expensive and luxury! There is Nobu restaurant and you can see italy and france in your table.
Review 70:Nikki Beach, Too loud Too crowded, Too tacky, definitely not what we expect in Monaco.
Review 71:Location and the staff were excellent . Rooms spacious and light, well equipped.
Review 72:Nikki Beach (the hotel's only pool) so unbelievably unorganised and never any 'room' for paying guests at the Fairmont. We spent the weekend in Monaco so wanted to use the pool both sat/sun. Firstly on the Saturday we were told to wait at the side for no longer than 45 minutes - an hour had pasted and we were boiling hot still waiting in the sun to have some form of sun lounger. We went back over to the girl who had told us to wait there, and she then pretended she'd never seen us before (on the Sunday we experienced her do the same to another gentleman - so this was just an excuse of hers) we then eventually got seated on our loungers after yet another we'll known excuse of hers 'it was my colleague'! That evening we paid a visit after dinner for cocktails by the pool. As we are polite people we wanted to check to see if it was ok to sit on the chairs - A long dark haired unbelievably rude waitress replied no go and sit at the front (where no one else was sitting) I found this very strange and decided I'd had enough and just found myself a bed and sat down - I began speaking with another couple who had said she had been utterly rude to them too! Later we shared a sheesha - the gentlemen who run this were delightful, so thank you to them! For some unknown reason that same waitress came over and demanded the bill - we hadn't even finished our drinks and were not leaving any time soon! This day full of rude waitresses had been enough for me and we were hoping for a better Sunday... Sunday came and we thought we had better get to the pool early to ensure we got a lounger - as soon as we asked at the desk, the same girl from the Saturday blunted replied, have you reserved. Of course we hadn't, no one had informed us that we needed to book! She turned us away - yet I could see plenty of beds available....
Review 73:Wonderful hotel- staff in lobby were wonderfully helpful and always professional and polite. Our room was a garden terrace so peaceful and beautifully decorated. A huge thank you to the wonderful deputy manager who sorted out a pool lounger on the sunday - after my complaint.
Review 74:Everything came at a cost. Extra to sit BY the pool, or free to sit behind a row of cabanas between you and the pool. WiFi, $20/day (its 2015!!). $50/day to park. $30 for towels to go to the beach. Needed help changing a rental car booking and the most I got from the concierge was for them to dial the local hertz and then hand me the phone. The list goes on. I have stayed at many many high end hotels and resorts and the reason why we choose them is not just for the way they look, but also for the amenities and the staff. Would not stay here again.
Review 75:Beautiful facilities, centrally located and luxurious rooftop pool/lounge
Review 76:Check in took us 45 min, the reception team was not accomodative at all, while making a check in they talked to other guests, answered the phone calls, which is not accepable for this level hotel. We called for the Hotel manager, but he didnt do any to improve the situation. Not even offered a glass of wine. Wifi is 20 eur per day, after rain it didnt work for while. The pillow is flat - unbearable sleep. Hotel offer parking on the side for 50 euro, there is underground parking for 20 euro, which is not announced. Breakfast costs 38 euro, it's pretty basic - eggs, fruits, some muesli. We left 20 euro in a room on the table. Housekeeper took it, probably decided it was tips, after request money was returned, but still feel uncompfy about it.
Review 77:The hotel is ideally located right in the heart of Monte Carlo and has fantastic roof top pool with view over Monaco and the Med. Rooms are very spacious and light. The mattress is very comfortable.
Review 78:Hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. My booking did not come with breakfast and the rate published on their internet showed that they included breakfast. The duty manager gave me free breakfast for my entire stay! Breakfast is one of the best I had in all the hotels I have stayed. Great view, great music, friendly waiters, great spread of buffet. Highly recommend this place.
Review 79:the swimming pool/bar area manageress were a bit snippy when there were loads of people queing.
Review 80:location with view on the famous hairpin corner at the Grand Prix excellent swimming pool facilities and fun place to be great room, quiet and spacious outstanding cuisine both breakfast and a la carte all round perfect service, dedicated to excellence
Review 81:Expensive.
Review 82:Stayed a few weeks before Grand Prix, but preparations started and buzz can already be felt. Best location ever for the Grand Prix and everything in Monaco within walking distance. Great roof top pool area.
Review 83:The distance to the room was too far from the lifts. Also the wait to get into the rooms was long.
Review 84:The rooms were big and nice. Also the view of the sea was very good . The Japanese restaurant was also good.
Review 85:Horizon restaurant on the rooftop with balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. Food was excellent although a bit expensive. Views at subset cannot be beat.
Review 86:The overall service was poor. The concierge was Addismissive, the bell staff was rude, and housekeeping was poor. Room service trays with rotting food remained in the hallway for ten to twelve hours.
Review 87:The view from our room was lovely and our check in was courteous and efficient.
Review 88:To have to pay 20 euros for wifi is ridiculous. No wifi even at a public space like the lobby. This is the 21st century!
Review 89:The staff at the information desk was most helpful especially Matthieu. He made our holiday in monaco very smooth and hassle free. He helped with everything from reservations for the spring arts festival and lunch to printing out train schedules. All in all, wonderful staff. They really make sure you're comfortable.
Review 90:No Wi-Fi and breakfast included in room price. Breakfast for 38.00 euro per person doesn't worth the money! Mini bar and snacks overpriced, room interior little old, dirty terrace.
Review 91:Location, view
Review 92:No wifi offered inside the hotel, second day they told us that the breakfast was offered with the room but they made us pay at the check out but it's ok mistakes happens.
Review 93:The view was amazing from the room, staff were very nice and helpful, they offered a cake and a bottle of champagne for my wife birthday, location is perfect 2 minutes walking distance from place du casino and cafe de Paris restaurant 3 minutes with a taxi from the port.
Review 94:We got a rude note staying we weren't allowed food from outside thehotel in our room. I have food allergies and so had things like almondmilk and gluten free products there as they werent available in house. The hotel threatened to charge us if we didn't remove these itemsfrom our room. That's never happened before at any hotel I'vestayed at.
Review 95:Rooms and corridors could use a refurbishment.
Review 96:Fantastic location - great staff - very good restaurants - comfortable rooms with balconies - nice pool area on the roof.
Review 97:Check-in and check out a bit slow (it is a fairly big hotel). Lacks a bit of personality, exterior looks cheap. New Years eve rates too high
Review 98:Location, restaurants, shops, staff friendly and professional, good size and functional rooms, everything in good working order
Review 99:Nothing
Review 100:Staff were happy to help with anything we wanted. Breakfast although expensive was excellent. Location is ideal for the casinos and cafe de Paris. We would definitely stay again.
Review 101:Nothing.
Review 102:Its a beautiful hotel, great entrance, huge spacious lobby all overlooking the sea, the location is excellent, the breakfast with the sea view, the very polite and attentive staff.
Review 103:You shouldn't have to pay for wi fi in the 21st century. I didn't as Im a member of the Presidents club. Tip is to join the presidents club!
Review 104:Jean- Francois the manager was very helpful and made it all work well for me, the business needs him around! Sea Views are fab, Nobu is great.
Review 105:This is probably on par with a hotel that would be $250-$300 in the US--and I paid twice that. The taxi stand employees completely ignored me and I ended up trying to walk around the extremely confusing city alone.
Review 106:The hotel is very pretty with a welcoming staff who greeted me by name at every turn. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed. TV options in English were nice to have.
Review 107:Come with a passport and Channel handbag! I came without the passportand I was almost disregarded by the receptionist as if I wasn'tworthy to be there, totally unacceptable! Everything is extra price, Idon't mind paying but pleeease within reason! 20 euros for 24 hourwifi I stayed 1 night and as you cant check in until 3pm, its actually21 hours wifi, facts please!! The only tv channels in English were newschannels, as I am a solo traveler I wasn't out late therefore I paidanother 14 euros for a film just to break from the news headlines, I amnot a politician don't force me into being into one Fairmont. Alsothe swimming pool doesn't open until 9am, an early morning swimwould be nice to offer guests at 650 euros per room???
Review 108:Beautiful hotel lobby/ restaurants and rooms/ greatfacilities/ fabulous surrounding area. Perfect for a romanticgetaway! Warm swimming pool with great views out to sea :)
Review 109:Beautiful hotel stayed in garden room which was spacious , we'll appointed and very clean. Air con fantastic and certainly no noise problems. Lovely balcony with views to the casino. Enjoying drinks in the sapphire bar watching the boats or evening piano music was really lovely.Didn't eat in main restaurant as a little pricey and a lovely selection of cheaper restaurants 500 metres from hotel- turn right ,down hill cross road and a variety of places to eat with lovely ambience. Roof top has music and lounge chairs really lovely on a warm evening. All staff from reception to cleaners were friendly and welcoming. Used the buses as cheap and frequent. U can get day pass for 5euros. Car lovers paradise Ferrari, Porsche, mercedes, bentleys -everywhere ! A beautiful hotel for special occasion.
Review 110:The prices for a soft drink...10 Euros for small water, a cheese baguette for 26 Euros, the room we were first given and the amount of complaining we had to do to get moved
Review 111:The scenery, the food, the Nikki Beach Club and the ambience. Very romantic and beautiful place to stay. We got upgraded as the room we were given was on floor minus 1 and was like the staff quarters. We were given a suite..fab
Review 112:The best location in Monte Carlo, 1 minute walk distance to the casino, facing the sea without any distance, you can even hear the sound of the sea. Nice atmosphere, the whole holel looks like a cruise ship.
Review 113:Thank you for your wonderfull hospitality ... We were crlebrating our anniversary and were given a better room and found a cake in the room !!!! Great staff !!! Freindly helpfull .... Thank you !!!!
Review 114:Beautiful views from Seaview rooms with lovely balcony. Great pool with plenty of sun loungers to laze the day away. Casino right next door. Just a short stroll to town or catch the bus over the road.
Review 115:The price tag but nothing is inexpensive in Monte Carlo so it's to be expected.
Review 116:The rooftop pool and restaurant have stunning views and are very relaxing. Our room was well appointed, clean, spacious and very comfortable. Staff was kind and helpful.
Review 117:AC didn't work in room. Loud clubbing music all night. Very loud guests throughout the night in the hallways made it very difficult to sleep. Pool bar staff was cranky. Overall not a good value for the money and definitely not luxury accommodations. Better for a bachelor party spot.
Review 118:The room had a nice water view and Nobu was excellent.
Review 119:The rooms at the back
Review 120:I liked the location, facilities, Nobu as well as the fact of being so large and the quality keeps great. I relaxed extremely well and enjoyed every last bit.
Review 121:We booked a garden room..however This was a very partial view, mostlylooking over a building which was owned by the city , not well kept anddead plants..and a used condom on the floor just outside balcony ,whenpointed out to manager not very understanding . Also came back late onenight to find no cups had been left or the tea and coffee replenished.
Review 122:Bed mattress dipped in the middle, stains round toilet in marble, poor service from housekeeping, noise from roof bar. If this had not been a simple stopover between Venice and Versailles we would have moved either rooms or hotel.
Review 123:Location, parking
Review 124:Expensive but u know this before going
Review 125:Great location and facilities. Horizon restaurant was lovely rooms good size with a small balcony pool area good.
Review 126:The breakfast staff were not that professional - the buffet varieties is poor We came to have breakfast around 10:45 and when reached the buffet most plates were empty and no one refilled them. Other hotels, even if you come 5 minutes before the time of the breakfast - one get served properly and professionally.
Review 127:Loved our room with the balcony overlooking the sea - the view is beautiful. The lobby area, the location is also great. The pool on the top floor.
Review 128:We felt such a high standard hotel such as the Fairmont should include without extra charge wifi- internet service.
Review 129:We enjoyed the hotel location, accommodations , and hospitality.
Review 130:The other guests. Not being any gratis drinking water available when it is so hot, water is very important. Many hotels supply this now and it should be standard.
Review 131:Everything, the pool staff were lovely and relaxed. Rooms were luxurious. Marble bathrooms. Location could not be more perfect. Monaco is a beautiful, clean and affordable place. The menu fixe in most restaurants is very good value. The showers by pool. DJ in the evening. Everything you would need in room. Loved it.
Review 132:Noise of nightclub and £mil super cars revving their engines until 5am
Review 133:Location - Right by the Casino and famous Grand prix circuit Views - excellent Restaurants - Nobu was immense
Review 134:Price! But then all hotels in Monaco are expensive, I have no regrets though.
Review 135:There is a real vibrancy about this hotel but equally it is calm and relaxing. The restaurants fantastic and bar very good. The rooms are nicely decorated. The roof top pool is brilliant, lots of beds, heated pool, plenty towels and suitably attentive staff. The hotel location could not be better for being in the heart of the action but also offering a haven.
Review 136:Little bit overpriced, but considering it's Montecarlo it may be normal.
Review 137:Though too big in my opinion, nice and comfortable hotel with professional staff. Sea views are fantastic.
Review 138:Perfect location. Connected to best restaurants in town and short walk to best shops and Hotel de Paris. Staff was friendly and restaurants on site had delicious food.
