Reviews for Hotel Capital
Review 1:As a wheelchair users the step into the hotel is high and assistance was needed to get in. But that is not a problem for most and the staff will help when needed.
Review 2:Very friendly and helpful staff and good breakfast. The location is out of the center but close enough to a tram stop that tales you to the center in 10/15 minutes.
Review 3:Extremely nice stuff, perfect location and good value for money. The breakfast was fine, there is also a nice summer garden and the view from the window was better than could have been expected in the city - a calm back yard full of trees. The place can certainly be recommended for a short city trip. It is also very well connected to the center of the city. All in all, a very good experience.
Review 4:Ok at the price, but plug-in electric radiator in our room and windows badly need maintenance I had understood there was a restaurant - there isn't ,but good choice nearby)
Review 5:Pleasant staff. Reasoable breakfast included in room rate Breakfast room
Review 6:Looks very old and decadent. No extras in the bathroom apart from soap. It's also very noisy and it feels like the wall are made or cardboard. You can hear people snoring in the next room, the lift going up and down, and people closing and opening doors. It's ok for one night, but I would not recommend it for more.
Review 7:If you're looking for the Hilton, this is not the place for you. It's on par with our Canadian Comfort Inns. There's NO AC, (but this seems to be the norm in Europe) You have to put your room-key card into a slot inside the room for power,(no extra charge for power, I'm guessing this is purely for conservation reasons) so there's no leaving lights(or fan) on when you go out sightseeing. No coffee maker in the room but there's a fridge so water stays cold.
Review 8:I don't know how anyone can give this hotel a bad review! You are treated so well here you really hate to leave. All Staff are extremely friendly, ready to help in any way they can with maps, directions and suggestions, and all in english! A wonderful breakfast of sliced meats, fresh baking, cereal, eggs, toast, yoghurt and fruit is provided from 7-11 am but since our going-home cab arrived at 5:45 am the concierge started the ovens early and baked us some fresh croissants and made a pot of coffee so we wouldn't leave hungry! Who would do that for you if you're not special? The owner, herself, checked me in and when she saw I was from Canada immediately said I must be thirsty and asked what I wanted to drink, (coffee, pop, water,) before I went up to my room. I was also two hours early for check-in, but I was booked in with no problem AND with no mention of the great favour I was getting because I was hot and tired! This would be the FIRST place I'd consider if I ever go back to Brussels! So what if the carpets aren't brand new? Wear your socks or slippers and your good! Free WIFI, water pressure out of this world for a shower(I was on the 4th of 5 floors)and hot HOT water right from the word go, a GREAT bed and staff that appreciate you picked them to stay with make up for any stained(but clean) carpets!
Review 9:The hotel is definitely not what you see on the pictures.. it's too old, rooms and toilets are too tidy and old.. there's mold on the walls and on the shower.. and the breakfast is of a bad quality (except for the croissants).
Review 10:Employees in the hotel were nice..
Review 11:The carpets in the room and corridors look like they need a deep clean. The mattress was too soft.
Review 12:The car park was handy and good value as parking in Brussels can be tricky and expensive. Breakfast was good and varied. The room (garden view) was quiet.
Review 13:The location was excellent for us, and on the edge of a lovely part of Ixelles (good restaurants and bars within easy walking distnace). The fact that it had parking facilities was also very important as we didn't want to drive around while in Brussels.
Review 14:Too little room under the roof (heat or cold according weather), humidity spots on flooring (carpet) and walls. Doubtful élévator (for room on 5th floor). Value for money disputable.
Review 15:Nice staff and clean room (even it doesnt seem).
Review 16:Underground parking has very tight access and can be a problem if you have something like a VW Passat Estate
Review 17:Good location on the outskirts of Brussels. Stayed there to visit the Waterloo re-enactment for 200 year anniversary as Waterloo is a few miles to the south.
Review 18:Very far from the center train station. It took us 20 mins to take bus no. 38 from center station to the hotel. We have to go to the airport in the morning from the hotel and we waited about 25 mins for the bus no. 38. We are very much worried to miss our flight. But fortunately, we arrived on time.
Review 19:Everything is good. The stuff there are very helpful. Breakfast is good. Even though the room is not big, but it still very comfortable. The streets nearby are very quiet.
Review 20:Some electrical sockets were not in working condition and the soap tray was missing from the shower area.
Review 21:The hotel is in a very convenient place as you can reach from Brussels-South railway station to the hotel with Metro and tram. Tram stops just 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel. There is also a bus stop near the hotel and a grocery shop just down the street which can be reached in 5 minutes by walking. The street also has some restaurants. Staff was very friendly. We also left your luggage in the main reception area after check out. Nice kitchen with a good breakfast. Rooms were very nice and clean and bathroom had warm and cold water with toiletries.
Review 22:Although it is located 10min driving from the main square, it was good value for money. The shower is excellent! Breakfast is nothing special but you can't go wrong with croissants and coffee with milk! The guy at the reception at night time is very kind and told me a lot about the places around it. The street market on Place Flagey on weekends is excellent and only 7min away, walking.
Review 23:The location of the hotel was far away from the center. As such, You have to go by bus. It costs around 2.1 each way per person if you get tickets in the bus. As such, I would recommend a hotel near to the center even if breakfast isn't included. Food is very cheap and you can have a breakfast in MCdonalds for 2.5 euros
Review 24:the staff was helpful and room facilities were great. There wasn't any noise or disturbance.
Review 25:More cleaning is needed. Towels with stains. Garage only for small cars.
Review 26:Good location. Nice breakfast service though not so much variety. Comfortable bed. Comfortable bedroom size.
Review 27:This hotel was comfortable, warm and good value for money. It has underground parking, and serves morning breakfast. It is however outdated but that was reflected in the price.
Review 28:Shower bracket and bath stopper missing. My own fault - didn't report it. Managed by holding shower.
Review 29:Our booking was for 3 nights. When checking in we said we would be staying 2 or 4 nights because of strike. Receptionist immediately took for just 2. Excellent practical response. Breakfast also good
Review 30:it was not possible to pay by card i should walk till a bankomat, no remote for tv and old lift
Review 31:ROOM WAS CLEAN, affordable price, good location and good breakfast
Review 32:Difficult to get to. Far from station+public transport. Did not get quiet garden view double room, but got crowded twin room facing noisy street. Apparently full. Got stuck in lift alone for 15 mins. Lift broke down+I was on 4th floor with heavy luggage. Ran out of bread at breakfast time. So if came early would have been good breakfast but those that came at 9 am or after missed out as hotel had not catered for a full house of guests. Room so small could not get to en suite with an open case. Squeezed past bed. Fridge did not work. Very disappointed as thought I selected a hotel close to Brussels midi. Garden was tiny + basically just a place for smokers. This hotel is near nothing. To station I had a walk of 300-600 metres to get a tram depending on which direction I went then a bus or tram to connect with another including metro. I did not get what was advertised.
Review 33:Wifi not warking and not free I baid 5€ to get the password but it did not work and when I ask to get it back they refused.
Review 34:Nice place near to all what you want, free parking available, clean room but small, breakfast is OK.
Review 35:The room was horrible with uncomfortable beds, squiggly doors and a smelly bathroom. The internet was barely working. The breakfast reaches a new low with poor quality products and almost no choice.
Review 36:The staff was very friendly and helpful
Review 37:Pleasant atmosphere with a competent and helpful staff. The location suited my needs nicely and is very "Brussels".Rooms are comfortable, decently appointed and are tastefully decorated. All around, I found my stay at the Capital Hotel to be a worthwhile experience
Review 38:There were some hairs on the bed! The bathroom tiles had mold.
Review 39:It was very close to the Embassy where I had an appointment and the bus to the train station stops in front of the hotel.
Review 40:Was a bit noisy on the street side of the hotel and had no block out curtains. Breakfast was good but some items ran out
