Sea Shell features a seasonal outdoor pool, rooms with ocean views and a terrace, just a 4-minute walk from the white sands of Shirahama Beach. Western and Japanese-style rooms offer free Wi-Fi and different themes, some boasting an open-air bath.

Review 1：The only issue was the air-con wasn't strong enough/cold enough. We were in the middle of a heatwave when we got there so it wasn't their fault. By the time we got back to our room, it wasn't cool enough and we woke up in a sweat most of the time. :)

Review 2：Absolutely stunning place - such a hidden gem! The suite was so amazing. The staff were so helpful and accommodating, super friendly and nice. Loved every minute of our trip - the breakfast and dinner is perfect! Thank you so much, we really needed this holiday and you ticked every box imaginable (location, food, views, room, cleanliness, friendliness)

Review 4：The Sea Shell people treated us like royalty. They were very kind and helpful regardless of whatever we asked. They have a really nice Onsen, beautiful rooms, tasty barbeque and delicious breakfast. We both really loved our two night stay.

Review 5：The whole staff is wonderful and very welcoming! We felt like we were part of their family from the minute we arrived! This is our second year to stay at the SeaShell and will always stay there everytime we are in Shimoda!

Review 6：The hotel has character, good views (though it is not directly on the shorefront as I thought from the description), the surfer/owner (?) was very helpful. Excellent Western breakfast, we didn't need lunch later! The only surprise was the outside shower facilities in the twin room, a little chilly in March, but there are 2 onset so it wasn't a problem.

Review 11：You need to walk up a little bit from the beach to get to the hotel, which is a bit tough with tired kids... It might end up being a bit too pricy.

Review 12：The hotel has an onsen and the room we had was really original, with a beautiful view to the bay and a small terrace. The shower was actually on the terrace! Showering under the stars was fun for the children.

Review 18：Shimoda is an amazing place, the sea shell is a beautiful place overlooking the beautiful Shriahama beach. Place was great, staff were lovely, would go back in a heartbeat!

Review 19：The doors to the room are quite tight and noisy and since the toilet isin the hallway, hard to sneak out in the middle of the night to go tothe bathroom without waking everyone up.

Review 24：Amazing place. We were in the double bedroom with jacuzzi, the view on the sea was breathtaking. The room very clean and comfortable. Terrace was really good, the only minus was, not enough spaces to sit if there were other guest occupying the outside area. Hotel very close to the beach, where we spend most of our time.

Review 26：We really loved Sea Shell!! Our room with private bathroom was big and comfortable. The decoration was so pretty, and we had everything we needed. Also the ocean view was spectacular. All the rooms in the hotel looked modern and the owner tought of every little detail to make the hotel cosy. We really enjoyed our stay. If you choose for shared bathroom, that would be fine also. The bathroom in the hallway was very clean and comfortable. The beach is easy reachable in 4 minutes. We would stay here again definitely!!

Review 29：-Overpriced for what it was. -"Family room" was very small for a family and definitely not worth what we paid for it. -Found meals at the hotel to be very expensive, especially for a family. Maybe OK for a romantic getaway.

Review 32：Friendly couple running the place with a few other staff. Buildingitself is from the '60's and doesn't look like much, but theinside has been refurbished; we stayed in one of the third floor rooms,which had been repainted in warm pastel colors with a great view of theocean. One of the other 3rd floor rooms had its own rotenburo (outdoorbath). We checked out some of the other Japanese rooms on the 2nd floor,also fresh and nice. Location is perfect, 5 minutes from the localbeach; wooden veranda provides beautiful view of the ocean, plus a smallpool for cooling off. In the evenings they do barbecue set dinners onthe veranda as well.
