Reviews for Riad Madu

Review 1:The driving directions given on the website put us on a road that was only suitable for a 4-wheel drive vehicle, but we were driving a compact. Fortunately, we were discouraged from taking that road by a local in Erfoud. We arrived in the dark (not a good idea), there were no streets as indicated on the map, just sand paths. This wouldn't have been an issue if we were driven there as part of a tour group. The next morning we set out to make the half-hour trek to the dunes, but the flies were so aggressive that we turned back.

Review 2:The pool area was beautiful, as well as the night sky viewing. The hotel was empty during our one-night off-season stay, so we were upgraded to a spacious suite room. However, the bed was hard and the sheets were "scratchy".

Review 3:Food. Dinner was not great. It was my birthday and unfortunately I won't remember it as a great treat. Breakfast was just ok - not much variety but enough to keep you going :)

Review 4:A beautiful place with a beautiful view of the Sahara dunes. Must be one of the best places to stay in Merzouga/Hasilabied. The stuff is nice. Good internet connection in a lobby, a bit weaker in a room.

Review 5:airco wasn't working, but it wasn't that warm and the breakfest was not that great.

Review 6:perfect stay, nice staff, rooms are lovely and the view is breath taking.

Review 7:Weather was realy hot, but arcondition was operatief fine

Review 8:- Competent staff who helped us organize the things we wanted to do( sleep in the dessert, visit the market in Ressani etc). - location is absolute stunning, see pictures

Review 9:Diner was terrible. Eat somewhere else. Quad and dunebuggy tours are very expensive compared to other locations in the country. The road to this hotel is a bumpy rocky dirtroad. Its better to drive a 4x4 to reach this hotel easily.

Review 10:The pool and the view

Review 11:Wow, wow, wow! I think Madu is the only riad with Sahara dessert viewfrom the infinity swimming pool. We came in July and had the whole placeto ourselves. We were the only guests and we were treated with the 5star service. Hamid and his staff were helpful and made sure we arecomfortable in our room. We booked standard but got upgraded to suite,so sweet. The hotel arranged for he camel rides during sunset and quadrides for sunrise. Must try! Yusuf and the kitchen staff were amazing, the dinner was a feast of moroccon dishes. The breakfast was perfect.Loved everything about this place. Strongly recommend!

Review 12:Location, just a few minutes from the big dunes of the desert; great for sunrise and sunset walks Dinner in the hotel was fantastic, superb food and they create a nice environment with candles/lamps. Pool area is great, small but nice infinity pool with a view that would be difficult to match. We loved the hotel decoration, our room was very spacious and had a view to the dunes. Pictures didn't do it justice, everything is 10x nicer when you are there

Review 13:It's a long way to Merzouga, but worth it to be near the Erg Chebbi.

Review 14:Rooms were very spacious and comfortable with good AC. The staff were very social and helpful. The meals in the hotel were also very good at reasonable prices. They also organized tours into the desert for us with good guides.

Review 15:Nothing to not like. Real foodies may want more variety but everything was of a decent standard

Review 16:Great location offering fab views over the dunes from the pool. Friendly and attentive staff made our stay memorable. Hamed was always there to assist - a young staff, friendly and informal. Desert experience a must. Dine buggies organised from the riaf was great fun.

Review 17:We liked it all but the food could be worked on

Review 18:On the edge of the Sahara ...quiet and tranquil...good staff..we did an hour camel ride to their luxe tent site...dinner under the stars...good bed, toilet and shower in tent...sunrise on the Sahara...breakfast and 4x4 back to the riad....this is a great place

Review 19:Hard to find- no signposts!

Review 20:The hotel came to rescue us when we went down the wrong road and got lost. Spacious room, good shower and queen sized beds! Good value meal.

Review 21:We chose to stay here based on the fact it had air conditioning, but the air conditioning did not work The food was horrible (it was obvious the person cooking had zero experience) and worst of all it wad over priced. Rather eat elsewhere...Fatimah Cafe had amazing authentic food at half the cost.

Review 22:Beautiful grounds and pool. Would be an amazing hotel if they worked on their hospitality and they could hire someone who could cook!!!! It is clear they opened a year ago, maybe in the future it will become more organized.

Review 23:We had a wonderful time at the Riad Madu. The hotel was recently built and facilities were like new. Cleanest hotel that we stayed in Morocco. Staff were wonderful. Highly recommend.

Review 24:Nothing

Review 25:Fantastic staff. Great food

Review 26:Poor sign posting and GPS coordinates incorrect.

Review 27:Nice rooms

Review 28:Extremely hard beds, but normal for Morocco.

Review 29:Free upgrade and great location.

Review 30:There was Wifi... but no internet connectivity

Review 31:Great pool that faces the dunes The food was great, but too much

Review 32:For an overnight stay in their desert camp you still must pay 70% of the road bedroom.

Review 33:Location

Review 34:The attention of the staff. The dinner!

Review 35:Exceptional service and fantastic hospitality. Perfect place to enjoy the desert of Morocco.

Review 36:Speachless :)

Review 37:Nothing this is the best place in Merzouga.

Review 38:Amazing five star Riad steps from the Sahara. Great Staff that will go above and beyond. So much to love at this property. Riad is new and bathrooms are spotless. Our highlight in morocco. You have to spend a night in their luxury desert camp. An experience you will never forget. We spent our 10th wedding anniversary here and will never forget it. Thank you Omar, Moustaffa and Yousef.

Review 39:This must be your choice for this area. Five star service, new, impeccable facilities decorated with wonderful taste and beautifullypresented, home cooked food. All the advantages of a 'posh'hotel but in the desert with owners who treat you like a friend, areeducated and speak languages and full of helpful tips. Biggest bedI've ever slept in. Spotless amazing value. Forget Erfoud comestraight here.
