Reviews for Solemagia

Review 1:Once we were in the room the host told us that cheat had people walk out on her without pain that day and she wanted cash from us then. We did not have that much cash on us and arrange to meet her the next morning. We got the money and she was 15 minutes late arriving. She totally blew that off. The room was tiny and the bed was extremely thin

Review 2:Located along a cute narrow walkway. Our host met us at the train station

Review 3:The owner, who made us to wait 2 hours to get the keys and never give us a receipt, was very unprofessional. The bedrooms are not suit. So the bathroom are outside the rooms and the unit we stayed, the bathroom is 5 feet high, touleit was lose,so when we flushed,it was a mess. The rail to go the balcony was unstable and kind of danger. The place is a dump. The light was out and we call her many times, she never answered. Finally, my husband, found the electric panel and fixed the problem. Please, stay away from this place if you want to enjoy Cinque Terre.

Review 4:Unfortunately, the experience was so bad that it was impossible to like anything else.

Review 5:The bathroom wasn't en suite. It was the room's private bathroom, but you had to go through the hall to get there, which is a bugger for privacy... Also, the maid left the room door wide open, it's a good thing we didn't leave anything valuable in the room.

Review 6:The room was clean and you could barly hear the train from the room we stayed in (third floor from bottom), so the noise didn't disturbe our sleep.

Review 7:The host gave us a different room for the first day and then moved us to the room we actually book the second day. The first room was awful, in her flat nearly under the train. The host said she had some trouble, and that we had to understand her situation. She is not to be trusted!

Review 8:It was a nice room, in a nice little street

Review 9:Lots of stairs to get there, both to the location and once in the house. Overall when comparing it to other possibilities, it could have been a lot worse. I improved with the stairs over the 10 days we stayed there.

Review 10:The location was great. Not noisey but still close to everything.

Review 11:No hot water and owner/agent did not respond to phone call, emai or text. Also she was to meet us at 9 am to return key and get a receipt for prepayment but didn't show until 10 am shortly before we had to catch the train.

Review 12:Bathroom on terrace. Have to go outside and up on terrace to go to toilet. Is okay during nice weather but uncomfortable during rain and wind during night.

Review 13:Good location. Nice view from terrace. Good staff.

Review 14:The bed was maybe a bit firm for my taste but that's getting really picky.

Review 15:Gemmy was awesome and very accommodating. The single room was just that, with a queen size bed and a breezy window, plus a small but newly updated bathroom.

Review 16:We didn't dislike anything but one should be aware that this studio has quite a few steps to climb and the bathroom is off the terrace with a short steep set of steps to climb to reach it which could be a problem if one has mobility issues.

Review 17:We liked the fact that the studio we stayed in had air conditioning because we were there when it was extremely hot. Also we loved the location right in the middle of Vernazza with a sea view terrace. Loved meeting Gemmy, the friendly owner!

Review 18:The room was extremely close to the train tracks so it was very, very noisy and loud when trains were going past. There wasn't a view from this room as it was facing the hillside, away from the sun and consequently, there was a bit of a damp smell in the room. Otherwise it was fine.

Review 19:Vernazza is a very pretty, yet small village, so it's easy to walk everywhere from this location.

Review 20:We booked the hotel and were taken to another room adjoining the hotel managers house. It was right near the train station and we were kept awake by the trains throughout the night. The room was also quite stuffy.

Review 21:The room was clean, with nice decor.

Review 22:-we didn't know we needed to contact Gemmy by phone -we found the hotel (that didn't have a sign) but no one was there -everything worked out so it was no problem

Review 23:-our terrace just for us -it was beautiful and unexpected -kitchenette that we didn't know we had

Review 24:Very hard bed and toilet always had a smell, though cleaned with lots of bleach when I arrived, maybe a plumbing issue? Owner not speaking much English meant no helpful tips, couldn't ask questions.

Review 25:Room was neat and appealingly decorated. In centre of village.

Review 26:My friend had to sleep in a deck chair as our Twin room was given to someone else and late at night with no alternative, two non gay males were asked to share a double bed.

Review 27:Nothing

Review 28:Bed was on the floor but was fine.

Review 29:Jamie the staff was very nice and helpful. My only concern would be the trains coming and going however it did not keep us up. Very easy to get to the train.

Review 30:I sent 3 emails asking for directions/instructions on how to find the property, no reply. The website said that the meeting place was at the train station, no one there at the time we told them we'd be there. The room was right beside the train, there was no wifi, the 'free toiletries' were bars of soap, and shower caps!

Review 31:No wifi. The room was not the one presented on the website. The price was the same, but the room was not as nice ! the train station is noisy, and there's no view. Expensive for was it is, but does the job.

Review 32:Clean.

Review 33:The woman who greeted us and oriented us to the room made us feel extremely rushed. She did not want to spend the time explaining anything. I wanted to pay in cash and she stated the charge was on my credit card and could not be reversed. She stated this info was sent to me in an email. The area where we ate breakfast outdoors had a strong odor of cat urine from the cats who wandered in the area during the night

Review 34:Staff serving breakfast and cleaning were very nice and accommodating

Review 35:There are very steep stairs to the room but not unusual for the area. It was a bit noisy at night and the church bell rings every hour.

Review 36:The room was very close to the rail station and easy to get to with not too many steps. We had the double room, which was exactly as pictured. It was very nice to have complimentary shampoo and soap.

Review 37:If you like silence while you sleep and you're a light sleeper, this probably isn't the place for you. There are a lot of apartments surrounding Solemagia, and many people outside very late at night. This wasn't that much of an issue for us, though one night we were abruptly awoken to someone repeatedly banging on a door beside ours.

Review 38:Throughout our booking process and leading up to our trip, Gemmy was in contact with us and always available to answer questions. She picked us up from the train station to take us to the room, and she was extremely sweet and accomodating and genuinely happy we chose to stay at the apartment. The room was adorable and quaint, and nicely decorated. The bathroom facilities were a also very good, something I'm usually a little hesitant about. Throughout our time there, Gemmy was extremely quick to reply to phone calls and emails, and even came to the apartment very late one night when we had an issue. She also dropped off extra towels, toilet paper, etc when we had run out or simply wanted more, and checked into the apartment once in a while to make sure everything was going smoothly for us. The location of the apartment is wonderful and close to the central square in Vernazza. It's a bit of a challenge getting your suitcase up there, but Cinque Terre is primarily stairs, and it's pretty standard anywhere. you stay. On our last day, Gemmy met us at the apartment to help us out and wish us well. She was extremely accomodating, very friendly, and always willing to help in anyway she could. I would most definitely recommend staying at Solemagia - especially with the fantastic price, you can't go wrong!

Review 39:No WIFI; fan was a small portable heater fan to be used with heat off. Winemaking downstairs attracted mosquitoes.

Review 40:Excellent new clean and functioning bathroom. Room quiet (except for trains that are a feature of this town)

Review 41:Wi fi was not working, but we've stayed only for one nignt, so it was not critical. Hot water was very unstable.

Review 42:Nice room and bathroom, location close to the train station, very welcoming host.

Review 43:The town was a bit noisy (because we were there peak season) There were a few harmless tiny ants in the window.

Review 44:Owner Location Room Wifi Comfort Bathroom

Review 45:Having to go outside and climb a step ladder to get to the bathroom facilities. You get all the noise from the town centre below which could be annoying if you're a light sleeper. Two very narrow beds. Don't book this top room unless you're reasonably fit and agile.

Review 46:Nice sea view in two directions and open air, sunny feeling from our top floor room and deck. Very close to railway station and only a couple minutes to the little harbour and town centre. The owner a very friendly and helpful woman. Nice clean apartment, just big enough for two.

Review 47:It was too expensive for its standard (180 euro per 2 nights for 2 people - and room was without a good view for the sea for example). We had some problems with owner, because she can't speak english very well. She also had forgotten that we paid her already - i recomand to take confirmation of payment when you go there.

Review 48:Location was good - not more than 5 minutes to railway station and beach. Room was clean and has WiFi conection.

Review 49:The great thing about it was that It was very good for the price, and it was great for us due to its proximity to the train station because we traveled to and from several times during our stay. The owner was extremely helpful to us and we found the room perfect for our needs.

Review 50:Room had a bad smell, like a basement. There was no internet since the service was down. We moved after 1 night.

Review 51:The owner was friendly and arranged new accomodation when we complained. Very nice bathroom.

Review 52:Rooftop toilet is a pain at night, but enough light outside so ok. Actually better than I thought it would be. Would be hard for someone tall or not steady on feet.

Review 53:Loved Gimmy the proprietor. We had top floor studio, which is a must. Lovely kitchenette. Simple, lovely styling. Airy and fresh with windows on two sides and French doors to patio and rooftop on third side. Perfect for two adventurers, as bathroom is on rooftop. Not for the unsteady or those with oversized suitcases. Rooftop with table and chairs and view of sea. Great for drink before dinner or waiting for Vernazza day trippers to exit. Would be good for family if had room below too; but alone, the room below looked small and dark. Go for studio. Equipped with espresso pot and simple lovely dishes. My teenage daughter and I loved it, as did our friends who visited often for drinks or breakfast. Would stay again in a heartbeat. Convenient to all parts of Vernazza down different pathways.

Review 54:You have to be prepared for stairs, lots of them, in a village built on a cliff.

Review 55:Location was good, bed comfortable. Host was very helpful.

Review 56:The bed head rattled a lot

Review 57:location

Review 58:Great location in the village.

Review 59:No TV

Review 60:Beautiful view, great internet, close to downtown, and very good AC. There is a terrace its is beautiful.

Review 61:Fantastic little apartment in central Vernazza with beautiful terass overlooking the water. Perfect for my stay in Cinque Terre!

Review 62:Great! Loved the deck on top. Bathroom is up on the deck, but that just gives it a little more personality!

Review 63:Bathroom on roof and lots of narrow stairs might be problem for some.

Review 64:Gorgeous rooftop view.

Review 65:If anything it would the stairs to the apt.

Review 66:Right in the middle of a delightful neighborhood.

Review 67:Owner lost our 2nd booking Didnt meet us at the station so we had to ring her from another hotel

Review 68:Location View Quaint facilities

Review 69:A charming room in a very central position in Vernazza. Gemmy was very friendly and helpful.

Review 70:Lack of A/C and noise of revelers and neighbors in the late night.

Review 71:The quaintness and regional authenticity. Good bed.

Review 72:Mattress was quite firm.

Review 73:Everything...except the bed was a little hard for my taste. But I would stay again in a heartbeat.

Review 74:Barely any hot water. Stairs were very steep. And the bed very uncomfortable..

Review 75:It had good location but so does everywhere in Vernazza. Value for money was there but don't expect too much. If you want a glimpse into life as an Italian you'll get it here.

Review 76:A little "bait and switch." When I booked the room, I asked for a room with a bathroom, and based on the room photos that's what I thought I had. When we arrived, we were given a room without a bathroom, and a key to the bathroom next door (which the hostess said was only to be used by us). I told her that's not what was requested and I was told that's all that was available. The bathroom smelled of mildew or sewer odor, and we were provided with towels for one day for two people. The towels were actually the consistency of dish towels not bath towels. The tub had a hose with a shower head and no overhead shower. No one contacted us after we checked in to see if we needed anything. A few days later I e-mailed the hostess asking for towels and they were dropped off in our room while we were out. Same thin cloth passing for towels. Not staying here again.

Review 77:We actually were unable to stay here because the hot water broke before we came. Jaime met us at train station and had arranged for another room. She was very gracious and bought us a prosecco while we waited for the other lady to come and escort us to our apartment. Vernazza is very steep. Solemagia is very close to train station but not noisy.

Review 78:The bathroom was super small and the hot water in the shower ran out FAST. With two people, only 1 would get a warm shower and only for about 3 minutes.

Review 79:Gemmy was extremely friendly and accommodating and met us at the train station to walk us to the room (which was super duper close). The room was just as pictured online; plenty of space for 2 people who spent most of the time there outside.
