Reviews for Hotel Alcatruz
Review 1:The receptionist asked me to leave always he key at the reception, even if often there was nobody and of course the main door was always open. I understand that it's a small and quiet village, but if something is stolen then who's to blame for?
Review 2:The room was modern and with a nice balcony. The breakfast is awsome, the owner also owns a bakery downstairs, where I could eat anything I wanted and everything was delicious
Review 3:Breakfast could have had more selection. WIFI was terrible. Not that we cared too much about this.
Review 4:The friendly staff more than over compensate for the little luxuries missing from the hotel.
Review 5:No internet in the rooms - the location of the hotel is far from aljezur, i wouldn't recommend it if you don't have a car.
Review 6:Very clean and quite room. Breakfast was really nice.
Review 7:The hotel is located on a main road so it's a little noisy
Review 8:It's well appointed. Boutique style and spotlessly clean. It's owners also own the bakery next door and the breads and snacks that can be purchased are first class
Review 9:Breakfast across the street in neighboring pastiseria somewhat sparse.
Review 10:Clean, comfortable, contemporary were my thoughts as I stayed one night while hiking the Rota Vincentina. Hotel Alcatruz stood out from all else that was Rogil (albeit there wasn't much else). I'd recommend, if having to spend a night in Rogil.
Review 11:No bad experience - but it is a summer place not Winter or even spring. There is nothing to do there this time of year even if you don't mind a few showers. It's cold, bleak and really is just for summer.
Review 12:Rogil, as a town, does not have much to offer. It is a a good place to stay, but not a town to explore.
Review 13:Hotel Alcatruz, in Rogil, is close to most hikes and beaches. The staff are very attentive and helpful, and the accommodations comfortable, clean and open with lots of room. And the breakfast in the new bakery is lovely. A nice place to stay.
Review 14:Occasional road noise, but not too intrusive. There is no lift so ask for a ground floor room if you prefer.
Review 15:This is a family run hotel in a small town, the rooms are not big but there is a lovely large ground floor room with comfy chairs, coffee machine and a TV. The family run bakery just across the road provides excellent snacks and, of course, cakes to match.
Review 16:We had an enjoyable few days. We were made to feel welcome. The room we booked wasn't available on the first night but the alternative was good. After that we enjoyed the facilities in the studio. The buffet breakfast was good with plenty to choose from. A good choice for a relaxing stay in Rogil.
Review 17:- Noise from the other areas of the building and load noise from the refrigerator which we had to switch off - We arrived at 18.45 and the room was not ready - Breakfast area too small, we ended up eating somewhere else
Review 18:- Comfortable enough room - Location is good for going around Alentejo, close to Alcatruz
Review 19:We booked an apartment and then a hotel room. Hotel room was very small. Apartment has NO washing machine. Very noisy rooms because you could hear the doors slamming and it was not easy to sleep. Location is very poor as it is an ugly village.
Review 20:It was well designed and clean. Breakfast was quite nice.
Review 21:Our companions stayed in a room to the main street and said it was really loud. They had their window open though, while we used air on and didn't hear anything from the road.
Review 22:We stayed one night on the way along the coast. It was a nice hotel, comfortable and ok price. They also have a bakery so for breakfast a lot of pastries. Also nice ham and salami and cheeze and quite good coffee. That was nice.
Review 23:The village of Rogil itself is quite ugly and there is nothing to. The closest options for dinner or a nice coffee are in Aljezur.
Review 24:Check out the beaches next to Rogil at Costa Vicentina. They are quite hidden and accessible by car, but its worth it.
Review 25:room facing the street, noise of bypassing cars
Review 26:comfortable, clean, breakfast, heating
Review 27:No breakfast option for vegetarians or vegan or gluten free, but we asked for eggs and bacon and they gave us without problems.
Review 28:No pool Bath courtain likes to attack us :-)
Review 29:Decoration Breakfast Cleanliness Quiet Discreet
Review 30:Bathroom facilities(a bit dated)
Review 31:Staff, breakfast(excellent fresh orange juice, amazing bread)
Review 32:clean, spacious room ; Good breakfast
Review 33:We stayed in a studio and it was all brand new and very nice. The staff is very friendly!
Review 34:The staff and owner are very attentive and obviously take pride in their hotel. We had a slight problem with the shower holder being broken and a socket not working which was dealt with immediately :-) The breakfast buffet is amazing with a fantastic variety of home made pastries , cakes and croissants available from owners coffee shop. These ladies work so hard and many hours, they deserve to excel. Thank you.
Review 35:Comfortable and clean room. Very pleasant and helpful staff who were friendly and genuinely concerned to ensure we enjoyed our stay both at the hotel and in Portugal.
Review 36:The bathroom. That tiny little shower was awful, not just the space on it but that curtain sticking to us while we were taking the bath... really awful and I'm tall but skinny... can't even imagine someone with a strong body taking a bath there. It was a shame, because the bathroom had space for way better confort
Review 37:It was a clean place to spend the night and surprisingly quite, I was expecting a lot more noise coming from the main road. The breakfast was really excellent, with huge amount of regional pastry to choose. It was truly a breakfast I never had the opportunity to enjoy not even in a 5* hotel... kudos for it
Review 38:- there's no bathroom door which can be locked (or even proper closed) - noise from the street
Review 39:+ Annabelle is a wonderful host + design of the room is beautiful and made with love to the region + the breakfast at Annabelles bakery "pao do rogil" next door (off season) + very clean + two nice beaches not far away + supermarket (open on sunday) across the street
Review 40:Cable TV in the rooms would be an advantage. Couldn't fault anything else.
Review 41:Anabela was a fantastic host. Nothing was too much trouble. On our arrival she offered us liquers and snacks. As we wanted an early breakfast the next day, she arranged for us to eat at their cafe just across the road, and the breakfast was very good. Our room was very clean and bright, with free Wi-fi. Our breakfast on the second morning was worthy of a 4* hotel.
Review 42:The cleanliness of the rooms especially the more hidden parts.
Review 43:The Staff, especially the receptionist that was very friendly and regardful. And the breakfast that was amazing, various and fresh
Review 44:Rooms are a bit small. If you get a room to the street side it is quite loud (but you get a huge Terrace). It is quite expensive for what it is.
Review 45:Excellent breakfast. Very nice staff. We got a room with a huge terrace. Interior design is very nice and creative. Worth see it.
Review 46:Slow in the check in and check out. No enough tables for the breakfast
Review 47:Very clean and the breakfast was excellent. It is a 2 start hotel that should be considered 3 start hotel
Review 48:The hotel does not provide shuttle service to Faro as advertised on booking.com so just be mindful of that, best to hire a car if you are staying at this hotel
Review 49:Very friendly and accommodating staff, free bikes to use, excellent breakfast with choice of fresh fruit, pastries and home baked bread, not far from the beach
Review 50:Can't think of anything.
Review 51:Anabela - the owner, is so sweet and kind and helpful! The room was great, the breakfast was excellent, WIFI is free and good, and the location, just 10 minutes drive from Aljezur, and 2 beaches 5 minutes drive. For travelers with a car this is really ideal!
Review 52:The hotel was very clean and the staff was helpful. They offered space in the garage for my bicycle
Review 53:Anabela was a perfect host and made us very welcome. We fully recommend a stay. Bill and Robyn, Auckland. New Zealand
Review 54:Limited parking space for cars
Review 55:Very good alternative in a zone with few ofers for hotels
Review 56:stairs
