Reviews for Hôtel La Villa
Review 1:My experience was overall great, the interiors of the house are just a little bit outdated and rugs may need to be changed. But not an issue at all. Breakfast could be better, not buffet and only limited bread and juice. But great homemade marmalades.
Review 2:Location was great, out of the hustle and bustle. You do need a car to get to this hotel, but parking is free and ample. The gardens are beautiful, green and colourful, with a rose garden and a beautiful terrace to have coffee and have a little one playing on the grass. Great room, we had the family room which had a very big bathroom, a king size bed and a smaller bed, plus a baby cot. Really big and nice room.
Review 3:Although they were fully prepared to make you a tea or coffee would have preferred the facility to make our own and not trouble anyone late at night or early in the morning..
Review 4:Very clean, comfortable stay. Would recommend, although you definitely need a SAT Nav to find it!
Review 5:One of our 2 rooms was not cleaned as evident with an overflowed garbage bin in the washroom. The place needs upgrade in the general. The rooms smelt musty. We had the windows open to try to air out.
Review 6:The rooms we ended up getting were quite spacious.
Review 7:No restaurant near hotel.
Review 8:Easy to use a local bus or to walk downhill to the town centre. Buses back up in the day but needed a taxi back up hill at night. Location pretty quiet unless trains heard through open window. Good continental breakfast and good parking.
Review 9:Breakfast very simple continental fare but served with a natural yoghurt with a few sweet toppings. All a little too sweet.
Review 10:Courteous and helpful hosts. Lovely big and airy room with comfortable bed and seating area. Good bathroom with shower. Had light meals served on the terrace.
Review 11:Approach via scruffy cul-de-sac; shower floor grubby with two loose & sharp tiles; expensive but meagre breakfast was allocated to each guest - bare minimum of bread, butter pat, individual jam & honey, a pain au chocolat, an orange juice, a tea or coffee [no refills]. Also to share between two - a small [very chipped] bowl of mirabelles & an even tinier bowl of cereal without milk so we had to sprinkle this into our pots of natural yoghurt [no choice]. Had this selection been offered on a buffet we could at least have chosen how much of each we would like. Really not worthy of 4 star hotel. We were told the nearest restaurants were 13 minutes walk but this was 20/25 down to the river front & 30/35 uphill back. Many were closed on the Monday evening we were there.
Review 12:Character of house & room
Review 13:I think just under 10 euros for 2 cafe au laits in the morning is excessive.
Review 14:Nice "boutique" hotel with quality furnishings. Pleasant staff who try hard. They were accomodating when we arrived after the normal check in hour.
Review 15:No restaurants within walking distance. We got a taxi to and from Bayonne centre for 10 Euros each way which was easy. Decor a bit tired for the price of the room.
Review 16:Quiet location. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed, boutique style hotel.
Review 17:Breakfast was a bit poor. Top floor rooms can get a bit hot in summer. No elevator.
Review 18:Big old house converted into a hotel. It is located in a calm neighborhood 10 minutes away of Bayonne by car. Rooms were big and comfortable.
Review 19:nothing
Review 20:This is an unusual property in that it is a house split into four seperate bedrooms with on suite. Shared lounge and kitchen. Beatutifully decorated and kitted out. Bottle of wine from owners vinyard supplied. Good grounds and indoor pool. Ides for sall group of friends of large family.
Review 21:Only one set of towels supplied for two people. More were given but this should have been standard. Overpriced breakfast
Review 22:Nice size room which was very quiet.
Review 23:An ideal start to our holiday, a beautiful villa just a five minute drive from the centre of Bayonne. We had two rooms booked and they were a great size and very comfortable.
Review 24:It took longer than 15 minutes to walk to Bayonne along a busy road. There are no restaurants close to hotel. Breakfast was heavy on bread and little else.
Review 25:Large spacious rooms, quiet and pleasant surroundings,
Review 26:I would strongly suggest going for one of the premium rooms upstairs. Ours was on the ground floor right next to the entrance, so privacy and noise were not great. We basically had to shut down the curtains to avoid being seen from the outside.
Review 27:Beautiful house with a nice garden and terrace. perfect for a weekend getaway. Breakfast was very good. I would go again.
Review 28:Not too close to the city, but didn't bother us because of just a stopover on our way to Paris.
Review 29:Friendly reception. Location nice and quiet. Very big room and bathroom, with separate toilet. Easy to find. Easy parking.
Review 30:The villa was only a stones throw from the city and some fantastic French restaurants dotted along the river, but offered such quiet and peaceful surrounds. Relaxing on the alfresco area as the sunset enjoying a wine was an incredible way to end the day. Staff were extremely accommodating and great with English as well as French.
Review 31:The price of the hotel compared to what we got. Very expensive food and the hotel was situated in the middle of no choice of eating elsewhere. Long way from citycentre. The beds were small and uncomfortable for 2 people and the bathroom was separated only with glass windows.
Review 32:The quality supper we had served in the room. The friendliness of the staff. Quiet at night.
Review 33:No reasterant
Review 34:Quiet
Review 35:Quite a walk to Bayonne centre fir restaurants
Review 36:Small and friendly hotel, only stayed 1 night so can't give too much feedback, but would use again.
Review 37:calme, gentillesse, situation de l'hotel
Review 38:Super comfy with delicious light eats for a quiet evening at home
Review 39:Location and easy parking
Review 40:Hotel has lots of character and lovely relaxed atmospher in quiet location with lots of attractions in the area , close to Biarritz airport .
Review 41:There is no lift! Hard to go to the second floor with heavy bags!
Review 42:Location. Green areas.
Review 43:Beautiful room with a terrace. Fantastic view. Host very helpful & made me feel very comfortable.
Review 44:not a very pleasant walk to town centre - especially at night
Review 45:good size rooms very nicely decorated. quiet location. plenty of free parking
Review 46:Quiet area Big spacious rooms Free parking Good wifi We used this hotel as a stop off on a road trip and really liked the hotel.
Review 47:Difficult to find and miles from city centre so can't walk out for dinner - they have no restaurant
Review 48:Comfortable quiet hotel
Review 49:Breakfast was very basic continental with no hot food
Review 50:Lovely setting and good old fashioned hotel
Review 51:Everything was fantastic
Review 52:The welcome from the hotal manager and his wife
Review 53:Attractive hotel in a quite neighborhood
Review 54:Nothing
Review 55:Charming accomodation in quiet residential area; relaxing and easy parking
Review 56:Uncomfortable chairs in room. I wonder if owners ever sit in the chairs they think look good for the room.
Review 57:Easy access for visiting the area.
Review 58:a nice place, very quiet and agreable
Review 59:Helpful people, efficient place
Review 60:Place is a little tired
Review 61:Period property and furnishings Bathroom was excellent
Review 62:Friendly staff, large room, very clean, beautiful grounds. We very much enjoyed staying there.
Review 63:A bit far from the downtown
Review 64:The hotel was great in a very nice place
Review 65:Perfect spot to relax. We walked into the centre each day which took about 20 minutes. Loved the walk.
Review 66:Top floor room with low beams
Review 67:Signs to property and parking
Review 68:Lovely room with big bathroom. Nice toiletries
Review 69:Eveything
Review 70:Hotel is a bit overpriced. Elected to have breakfast in Bayonne as breakfast was fairly limited for the price
Review 71:Very comfortable room twith a balcony
Review 72:The outside areas don't Reflect the whole experience.
Review 73:The inside of the building was very comfortable. And the owner very attentive.
Review 74:Nothing not to like!!!
Review 75:We loved the atmosphere and setting of the property and the owner and staff were very helpful and friendly. Enjoyed a lovely evening meal with great service. The room was very spacious with lovely furniture, while the bathroom was very modern and large.
Review 76:Wifi is spotty. Not a criticism but be sure you pay attention to the directions re: opening the gate after hours. We did not and had to wake the proprietor to get in.
Review 77:A lovely property with well appointed rooms and spacious bathrooms. We had a separate shower and tub. You'll need a car to get into Bayonne but it is not far. Proprietors friendly and helpful. Breakfast worth paying extra for.
Review 78:Scratchy cover on bed Bottle of water needs to be cold I am being picky
Review 79:Nicely furnished different to chain hotels Nice hotel stayed 3 times now would and will recommend to others
Review 80:Nothing.
Review 81:Comfy clean room with proper walk-in shower. Lovely evening meal served in our room after a long day of travel, was truly appreciated. Breakfast was also first class
Review 82:Only thing I would have liked is tea/coffee making facility.
Review 83:The manager was very kind and helpful he filled a flask of hot water for me and gave us a bagette. Unfortunately, I had a headache and did not feel like going out to eat. Also we had a flat tire situation and he was very helpful in finding us the necessary repairs. Very large comfortable bedroom and bathroom.
Review 84:Dining options limited to a room service menu consisting of cold food only. What there was we found very expensive and a bottle of Rose at €24 was a complete rip off.
Review 85:Quiet location.
Review 86:Parking was not very good. Breakfast was very French.
Review 87:The staff did all that could be done to help. The room provided was very nice and in a good condition.
Review 88:Pillows were foam. Bottled water in room nice but should have been cold not warm
Review 89:Not a copy of thousands of other rooms. Pleasant comfortable and modern bathroom pleasant staff
Review 90:Unfortunately we noticed that although the room had been cleaned the bathroom was not cleaned to the standard you would expect to a hotel of this category. We did not complained formally only because we only had one night booked.
Review 91:The location is really good, less than 5 mins away from Bayonne city centre, convenient for the motorway too or Biarritz if you want to go there. We didn't try the breakfast so cannot judge on it. We still thought that it should be included if paying full price for the room. Nice little design hotel, room is spacious and comfortable, room n.1 and 2 are practically beside reception but they are soundproofed.
Review 92:Our room smelled like sewage. Expensive breakfast. Little options for dinner (room service only). Staff not as friendly as I expected.
Review 93:It's a beautiful property, in a quite location. The room was nicely decorated and the bed was comfortable.
Review 94:Staff were not particularly friendly.
Review 95:The room & bathroom could not be faulted but giving its location, it needs a restaurant. Would choose a more central location in future.
Review 96:Sadly the hotel does not offer much in the way of eating although it did offer one evening choice. I returned a week later on my way back to Spain only to find the hotel full which is a good sign but bad news for me.
Review 97:The hotel was located just outside the city centre which meant that parking was available on site a big plus. The walk to the town took ten minutes and was pleasurable. The room I was given was large and the walk in shower with rain shower head was an unexpected delight. I plan to return next time with my wife
Review 98:It felt a little soulless at first.
Review 99:Very attractive building, rooms and gardens. Good room service. Spotlessly clean. A very nice hotel in a nice town.
Review 100:Nothing negative to mention
Review 101:1) Good location as a hub for visiting Bayonne center (2 km) and making excursions to the seaside (Anglais beaches 5 km - a lot better than overcrowded Biarritz) - by car or bike 2) Small-scale hotel with luxurious flair and personal touch
Review 102:We had to put up with a very noisy party taking place in a nearby house until the early hours and so had a poor night's sleep. There was no apology or offer of recompense from the management.
Review 103:The hotel is a building of character and charm set in pleasant gardens. The facilities are comfortable.
Review 104:Poor quality of doctors provided during illness. Doctors on call need empathy and interest in patients and not see them as quick source of easy money
Review 105:Helpfulness of staff during illness
Review 106:I wanted to walk into the town, which wasn't far but the first few minutes were along a busy road.
Review 107:Very classy bedroom and bathroom (great shower), so a nice place to spend time while it was raining. Nice garden. Lovely small hotel.
Review 108:I thought the breakfast was a bit overpriced and should have been included in the price. For a luxury setting and price a CONTINENTAL breakfast should be complimentary.
Review 109:the room was nicely appointed, clean and comfortable. I liked the location, close to freeway and town.
Review 110:The service quality was poor, personal was nearly rude (intrusion in ourroom at 7am without knocking at the door, etc etc) and unable to deliverthe kind of service one expects from such a hotel. We will not recommendthis place to any of our friends
Review 111:Carrying suitcases upstairs Breakfast a little expensive for what there was and not as fresh as could be, but was still filling
Review 112:Atmosphere, old character house, sitting outdoors, the birds singing
Review 113:Had a ground floor room and the wooden floors upstairs made other guests sound like a heard of elephants. Bathroom floor extremely slippery when you exit the "walk in shower". Glass bathroom door so people can be seen while using the toilet from all of bedroom.
Review 114:Not bad location. Short walk into town. Rooms were clean.
Review 115:The location is terrible. A very long and unattractive walk uphill fromBayonne. Our room was not clean. It needs an onsite owner/manager tomake it worthwhile. Coffee at breakfast was weak.
Review 116:The room was pleasant and comfortable.
Review 117:Great place to stay when visiting Bayonne.
Review 118:The lovely lady who looked after us with a great breakfast.
Review 119:No hair dryer in bathroom ( but nor did I ask).
Review 120:Calm environment, beautiful decor and garden. Good breakfast at 11.50Euros
Review 121:Free wifi would be good
Review 122:Food rooms superb
Review 123:Good hotel-villa near center of the city. Beautiful and pleasing stuff. Really 4star hotel.
Review 124:Hotel has now got very tired. Carpets badly stained in bedroom....bathroom floor tiles loose. Wi Fi very poor now.
Review 125:Room good size and comfortable
Review 126:Close to the city but not a pleasant walk to get there
Review 127:Well appointed rooms; quiet; easy parking; spacious bathroom and room; lovely location
Review 128:The state of the place, hygiene, maintenance, the stairs.
Review 129:The outside of the building, car parking, proximity of bus service to bayonne, biarritz.
