Reviews for Francamaria Rooms
Review 1:We were a couple and a friend and they gave us adjoining rooms that were clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Great value
Review 2:When I booked the room the site listed certain credit cards would be accepted and that is how I reserved the room. Upon arrival Francamaria insisted on cash payment....
Review 3:The location was excellent. But they did not provide any heat upon request and it was very cold. Andrea met us immediately at the station as well which was nice and convenient....
Review 4:I arrived at about 3.30pm and had to search for someone to help me find the rooms, no one at reception area and no english message how to locate the owner. When they arrived a brief very brief overview of getting in and services available or nearby. Very steep steps to climb with luggage and the bathroom had a nasty mouldy smell
Review 5:It was near the station and near the water.
Review 6:Make sure you bring cash to pay for the room. There was no breakfast, and the check in is separate from the room, so make sure you dont haul all your luggage down there first and expect it to be over.
Review 7:The location was nice in the town of Vernazza. it wasnt a beachfront or anything, but we didnt really spend any time in our room either. It was clean well laid out, and had exactly what we needed, including a baby bed for our 1yr old. Had air conditioning, and a nice balcony to sit and talk on.
Review 8:The "meet and greet" from Andrea was the worst of our European tour culminating in him being very rude to us when we went to the wrong door to pay him. ( that isn't hard to do when you don't know the place). This is also the only accommodation of its type that insisted on cash - I wonder why? The rooms are portrayed on the net as being at the front of Vernazza - as many other reviews have mentioned you will most likely stay near the railway station. The con works though because everyone doing a review has fallen for it. Certainly very expensive compared to other places we have stayed.
Review 9:The room was very good and has been well renovated to be versatile in shutting out the noise of the neighbours and trains.
Review 10:We were told on arrival we had to pay cash which was not what we had planned for and caused concern with our budget
Review 11:Excelent room in the heart of town vey convenient and gave good feel of living in the town
Review 12:i was a little disappointed that the owner walked in front of us when taking us to the room and despite the fact there were many steps to climb he did not offer to carry my case. Has chivalry died? I am Mary, by the way, Not Patrick.
Review 13:Air Con, decor and comfort.
Review 14:We stayed in a room away from the harbor; it was quiet, clean, and wonderfully decorated with all kinds of unique touches and even a balcony. Wifi and air conditioning were both impressively strong! Not even a five minute walk to the harbor, on a quiet back street -- perfect location. Andrea and Frnacamaria were extremely friendly and accommodating, meeting us at the train station for a late arrival and arranging to let us back into the room after checkout to retrieve forgotten sunglasses. Highly recommended!
Review 15:Our room was up by the train station, not near the cove as you would conclude from the picture. We never had working WiFi. They blamed it on the "company," but we were able to get on the access point they had down by the cove. Shower intermittently warm.
Review 16:Room was clean and relatively spacious.
Review 17:We had rooms with stunning views over the harbor and all the life in the street below. The location could not be better. The staff was very frendly and always assist you. We had a very nice stay and will gladly return back some time.
Review 18:- Bed is not very comfortable - Toilet is super small and not very clean! - There isn't any housekeeping! and there isn't enough toilet paper provided in the room!
Review 19:- Our room located just next to the Vernazza train station! - Wifi connection is very stable!
Review 20:The floor gets really cold and we could not figure out how to turn the heater on.
Review 21:They are individual rooms with attached bathrooms. Clean and comfortable. Very happy to see nice cosy place in Vernazza. Run by a couple and they were good.
Review 22:Last minute, surprice extra requirements, like checkin before 4 pm, leave before 10 am, pay in cash. Room was quite cold, the owner saved in heating.
Review 23:Clean, convinient and downtown
Review 24:A bit noisy with the train line so near the room. I think this is the case in most of Vernazza however
Review 25:Really nice, clean little room- everything you'd need
Review 26:The only negative experience was the lack of WiFi. We were shown the name of the network and the password, but the network did not show up on our phones. :(
Review 27:The room was very attractive and spacious, and everything was clean and comfortable. It was very nice to hear the ocean from inside the room. The gentleman at reception even helped us after posted reception hours when we had trouble with our keys!
Review 28:In the off season, make sure you keep the mobile numbers of the owners handy as they can be harder to track down if you need them. Also being February, many businesses were closed, limiting restaurant choices etc but the coop was open and a few souvenir places. The town square was also completely dug up, spoiling the view a bit, however, it didn't detract from the overall beauty of the place and the upside is...no crowds.
Review 29:These rooms are let by a family run business and they are very helpful and friendly. We had two rooms for two nights - they were sort of an adjoining pair, with one being larger with a kitchenette, lounge, twin beds and table and chairs for four. The other room had a double bed, fridge and ensuite. It was tiny but cosy and was one of the few places we stayed that had a doona, rather than a blanket. Both rooms have windows over the main square and if you look out, you can see the ocean. We fell asleep to the sound of waves, which was lovely.
Review 30:Having to pay bill with cash with no prior notice Being woken up by bell tower at 0700 each day
Review 31:Tea and coffee facilities Listening to the ocean Easy access of room from station Gelati shop nearby No hassle with crowds in off peak
Review 32:Having to leave!
Review 33:The big shower including the two shower heads. Very nice furnishings. Not over crowded. An excellent use of space. Was great being right in the square.
Review 34:Room & bathroom were very 'compact' with little space apart from the bed - just one chair to share. But effective in accommodating lots of visitors into a small village without ruining it.
Review 35:Our room was in centre of town off the main square and up just one flight of stairs. Other rooms are scattered around village. Operators put in special effort in welcoming us late - not only sought us out at La Spezia station as we boarded the train (they were in town for the evening) but had local watching for us to arrive in the village & guide us!
Review 36:The room and reception is not in the same place. The reception is in the center of the town, the room is very near to the railway station, bu should go a long way upstairs to arrive the room. It's horrible to take a bag luggage to go upstaris.
Review 37:Vernazza is good place to live.
Review 38:Off season much of the town shuts down. We made it for the last day before businesses closed for winter on Nov 15. Little instructions for arriving. Baggage storage was advertised but was only available until 1pm.
Review 39:Staff willing to meet us late... around 10:30 pm Good location Cute restaurants nearby with fresh food BEAUTIFUL area
Review 40:The room was small and would be difficult for a large person. Especially the shower that was about 3 X 3 ft square. ATM machines are not compatible with foreign debt cards. Be prepared to pay cash for the room and dinning.
Review 41:It was an ideal location with a wonderful view. Centered between the other four towns with easy access by rail or hiking. The room was small but comfortable and rustic.
Review 42:We thought we were getting a sea view room in the harbor, instead we gota room with no view next to the train tracks. And we got charged extrasince apparently we booked at the "single" rate. Really put acrimp into our "romantic sea view balcony with glass of wine"plan for our Cinque Terre vacation. If the site was clearer and moreopen about which room exactly we were getting, we never would havebooked this in the first place.
Review 43:The room has been recently updated and was modern and comfortable.
Review 44:There was no view, room was very musty smelling and as it was near the train, there was noise though out the night.
Review 45:The room had everything we needed-air conditioning, TV (English), good wifi, full length mirror (something I appreciate when I travel) and hair dryer. Easy walk to everywhere.
Review 46:no reception, no one there to greet you, had no information-where to park etc. they wanted cash-the room we paid for the most expensive room they had. T hey showed sea view rooms but we got one in a back alley noisy and a view of a brick wall. no breakfast
Review 47:nothing
Review 48:Wifi didn't work for us even though we watched the host check it and say it was ok because last guest complained.
Review 49:Great size and decor with stone wall.
Review 50:They alluded on their website that parking was available and free. Although it was free the problem was it was a mile uphill hike to get to it and not secure at all. The host was not very friendly or seem to care. She was very cold and only offered a slight reduction in rate re the parking and only after being pushed on our displeasure.
Review 51:Good location.
Review 52:We have come to expect stairs to our rooms in Italy, but this was unreal. Internet did not work, even after we reported it and they tried to get it working. The lady was late meeting us at the train station, which was a worry for a short time. Had to take my passport to copy it, and then we had a very difficult time getting ahold of her to get it back. She never seemed to be at the office, and we stopped by several times, different times of the day. The website only showed sea view rooms, so this is what we expected. Instead, we were right next to the train station (so noisy) and had walls only, for our view. We were as far away from the sea as you can get in Vernazza. The beach in Vernazza is poor, so if you want a really nice beach, stay in Montorossa. Bed linens had a funny, disinfectant smell to them.
Review 53:Close to restaurants, shops, the train station and the harbour. Airconditioning worked very well, and the shower was super. Vernazza is gorgeous, and the food was spectacular, in every restaurant we tried.
Review 54:Room wasn't clean. Air con didn't work. Staff unwilling to fix air con problem
Review 55:Location of the room on the main square of Vernazza, Piazza Marconi was useful and there wasn't too many stairs to climb.
Review 56:We were expecting a room down in the main square as per the description yet upon arrival were led back up to a building near to the train station. Yes I had ticked the box asking for a quiet room but at no point had it been identified that this would be off the main square - to us it felt like a bit of false advertising. When we got to the room and discovered it only had one bed rather than the two booked, we were made to feel as though we were putting the host out by asking for what we'd booked.
Review 57:Room was comfortable and well presented and we were able to store our bags on the last day.
Review 58:Francamaria and her husband Andrea were so helpful and kind. The roomwas beautiful and much more spacious than most rooms in Vernazza fromwhat we saw online and heard from other people in town. Small balconyand nice bathroom with all the amenities we needed.Francamaria and Andrea were kind enough to make many phone calls to a courier on our behalf since our luggage was lost at the airport. They were really glad to help (even though it never arrived) and for that we are so grateful. Highly recommend!!!
Review 59:Nothing to fault
Review 60:Great apartment in amazing location. Better than we expected for this remote location
Review 61:There are no comments available for this review
Review 62:Great location with a view of the ocean. Quaint, clean room. Comfortable bed.
Review 63:A tad expensive but whatever that's Vernazza
Review 64:Great room. Nice and clean. Good wifi
Review 65:Location and size of room
Review 66:great location, good shower room
Review 67:Small room and pricey.
Review 68:Easy to get to from train station
Review 69:It was perfect for what we wanted.
Review 70:The central location, few stairs and easy access to the station.
Review 71:The wi-fi was not workig and the staff didn't help or cared to fix it.
Review 72:The room was spacious and nice!
Review 73:Cash only and room was not ready within check in time range.
Review 74:We loved the location of this property, and the hosts were extremely accommodating and welcoming. The apartment was spotless and nicely furnished.
Review 75:Everything
Review 76:Location, view, just all of it
Review 77:Pillows. Small room. Tea and coffee not replenished. Expensive for the accommodation provided.
Review 78:Location
Review 79:a little quit
Review 80:hiking in the area and the seafood
Review 81:Felt more like paying for gas at the station than being welcomed to a hotel.
Review 82:Liked the location.
Review 83:Wireless Internet reception was " patchy" & unreliable within the room
Review 84:The location & Seaview
Review 85:completely different location than the one explained and shown in the photo.
Review 86:clean room, fairly good condition.
Review 87:The advertisement is "a few steps and great view". There is a LOT of steep steps and NO view.
Review 88:The room was modern and acceptable given that it is Cinque Terre. Comfortable once you get to the room.
Review 89:Not worth the money spent. Such a small room for 3 people. Internet never worked which was a big problem, was never fixed. Description of room was not accurate on booking.com.
Review 90:Room accommodated 3 people. Was close to most things and train station.
Review 91:Did not know what to expect when we arrived. The host walked us about 3 minutes from the office in Piazza Marconi through the amazing 'backstreets' of Vernazza. Upon opening the door to our room we were more than pleasantly surprised. Couldn't have asked for a more comfortable place to stay. Spacious for 2, recently renovated, tv, wifi, steps from the village, train, and water. Not sure what the other rooms are like, but if you get this one, guaranteed to be pleased.
Review 92:The room had only one window and very little natural light. The tiled floor had no rugs and was freezing cold underfoot. The supplied towels were thin and poor quality. The staff were short with us, not particularly welcoming, and insisted we paid cash despite it being an inconvenience for us and was never mentioned before we arrived.
Review 93:The room was well positioned in Vernazza, only a few moments walk from the main square and harbour. The bed was comfortable, the room was secure, and it had all of the basic facilities we needed (other than an iron).
Review 94:The proprietor offered us a room with a view if we'd be willing to cancel our reservation with Booking.com and pay cash so she could get the profit that would normally go as a commission.
Review 95:The room was spacious and comfortable. The location was excellent.
Review 96:Authentic for the community, but clean and comfortable. The shower head was great! The best experience was opening the windows and seeing the old architecture all around and seeing the Mediterranean sea. I would stay there again, if I ever make it back to Italy! We stayed several places around Italy, however, this town and environment was my favorite.
Review 97:When I arrived there was scaffolding over the front of the building so my "sea view" was horrible. NO WIFI even though they said there was and they came in my room randomly with their own key. Bring cash!
Review 98:The location of my room would have been great with a view of the piazza and the sea. There are lots of great places to eat ~ pricey and most only take cash.
Review 99:From the description we expected the room to be on the Piazza but it was some distance away and suitcases had to be carried up some very steep and winding stairs. There was no internet in the room and the "reception area" where it was available was back in the Piazza and very inconvenient.
Review 100:Room was comfortable and clean. Very near railway station.
Review 101:The wifi in the room wasn't working but I think it is going to be fixed.
Review 102:We parked our car in the village parking lot and took a shuttle bus to the village and walked to the reception. It was not difficult to find. Our room was very nice and big with two big beds on two floors.
Review 103:Room was not what was advertised. Room was not in location advertised. Hotel Owners tried to blackmail us into not leaving negative review. Poor service. Extreemly rude. Would not release passport until payment was made. Demanded payment in cash - we refused. Small cramped room, very noisey location
Review 104:Leaving
Review 105:Francamaria rooms advertised that they had free WiFi; however, our roomdid not have any WiFi and they did not have WiFi access in the"common areas" (which was advertised). When we asked about it,and asked what the password was for the free WiFi, we were told that theinternet was not working. We were told we should come back and get thepassword when the internet was working again. However, when we askedwhat the name of the network was and what the password was so we coulduse it when it was working again, we were told we would have to comeback to the building that the office was in to check to see if it wasworking before they would give us that information. It appeared to usthat they really did not have a WiFi connection, even though they hadadvertised this on their website and on Booking.com. I definitely wouldhave chosen a different hotel if I had known that they did not trulyhave WiFi access. Our friends were staying with a different hotelcompany, but in the same building and their WiFi was working. Odd.The other thing we did not appreciate is that they advertise most rooms as being on the harbor. They do indicate that some rooms are not; however, when you book a room you are not able to choose which room you will get, nor do you know what you will get until you arrive. We ended up very far up the hill away from the harbor, without a view (literally looking at the neighboring walls and windows), and within a short distance from the train tracks. There was not a flat screen TV as advertised either. Not that I would spend my whole time watching TV, but I do not appreciate false advertising. Overall, it was not worth the amount of money we spent on this room - at all. I would not recommend staying here.
Review 106:The room was clean and quiet, even though it was tucked into thehillside of the town amongst many other homes and rentals.
Review 107:Francamaria rooms went above and beyond for my husband and I from beginning to end. We arrived in Vernazza 5 hours before check-in and even so, our room was clean and ready! Our hosts provided plenty of great tips and pieces of advice for things to do and see in the area, which was helpful. Immediately following our departure, we were notified that we had left our iPad in the room. Francamaria Rooms went above and beyond and arranged for our iPad to be shipped back to the US for us! Two thumbs up for Francamaria Rooms!
Review 108:There's no wifi in the room but you can easily get free wifi in some of the cafe or restaurant in town.
Review 109:Hotel location is excellent, just few mintues away from Vernazza train station. We notify the hotel when we arrived and the owner came to pick us from the train station and lead us to our room. The room is clean and really cosy with a balcony.
Review 110:When we arrived at where we thought we were staying, the owner asked usto follow her without explanation. She took us back towards the station,up a narrow laneway then up winding stairs. I asked her where she wastaking us and she didn't answer. She opened the door and there was adouble bed with a small window looking at a wall. I tried to explainthat I had booked a double room with 2 double beds with a sea view asadvertised. She then took us to another room which was clean with adouble bed and a single bed. After exhausting ourselves trying to sortout the problem we decided to take the room as we were too tired. Theowner also tried to tell me what type of room I should have to which Ireplied that I was paying and expect to have the room of my choice nottheirs. I believe it was a case of false advertising as on the internetit shows the room overlooking the water. In any case I won't begoing back to that so called hotel in the future. Perhaps the buildingthat we were supposed to be in was a hotel but it didn't look likeone, there was no reception and other facilities you would expect in ahotel. Perhaps they double booked but that is no consolation for us.Unfriendly and unprofessional.
Review 111:We loved Vernazza itself.
Review 112:The Owner made us pay in cash. He wanted to hold our passports until wepaid the bill at checkout, which we refused to do. We had to use all ofour available cash to pay him up front, and there was no reciept or anypaperwork from him.
Review 113:The View.
Review 114:The husband & wife team were so inhospitable - the accomodation wasof a student type with mis matched furnishings, no style & shabbybed covers, although I think they thought it perfectly acceptable. At10.00 am she was knocking on our door demanding we leave for the nextguests (although we were ready to go within 5 minutes) & onlyaccepted cash payment. All other accomodation we booked was so stylish& we experienced such wonderful hospitality in the cinque Terre. Theattitude of this couple & their son was despicable - very bad vauefor money.
Review 115:After being shown 2 sub standard rooms we were grudgingly shown a roomoverlooking the square which is what we had been led to expect on theweb site - room with a view.
Review 116:Internet didn't work (we did have a storm but even when everybody else's internet came back, ours still never worked the entire time we were there) outdated room, had to pay in cash, couldn't figure out how the heat worked, had a kitchen but no cookware, silverware, plates, glasses were filthy. For the money we paid to go here IN THE WINTER I was expecting much more.
Review 117:Amazing location right on the docks/beach in Vernazza.
Review 118:Price was not what was promised in email. The room was advertised as being near the water, it was not. Overall, not as expected.
Review 119:Clean room
Review 120:very accomodating
Review 121:Nice staff, great location
Review 122:the owner accepts cash only
Review 123:we loved the whole location you picture perfect would stay there again .
Review 124:Loud neighbors and getting to the town/room.
Review 125:Air conditioned room. Newly updated.
