Reviews for Affittacamere Tonino Basso

Review 1:This is a great location if you're looking for comfort and value. It's located up a small hill but it's only 5 minutes walk to main street, 10 minutes walk to oceanfront. There is no view but the staff is friendly and helpful and it's located next to a fantastic cafe.

Review 2:Very small shower. Noise from rooms above and adjacent noticable and disruptive to sleep.

Review 3:Good location...short walk from stazione with pasticceria next door. Secure but easy access. Comfortable beds.

Review 4:Had small problem with replacement towels and was taken care of within minutes. Michala was very helpful getting us to placa after introducing herself in text.

Review 5:It took multiple calls to connect with the host and find out where the place was located, even though we had called to say our train was late and even then, we still arrived during their usual check in time. Google maps showed a grossly wrong location for it - this is uphill from the train station, with no water view. The room was pretty small. It had a little balcony, accessible through the bathroom, but it was too cramped to be appealing. Overall, I'd say it was nice but not as great as the previous ratings suggested.

Review 6:Positives: The staff, once we connected with them, were pleasant and helpful. The location, once we figured out where it was, is easy to get to - uphill from the train station, no stairways to navigate, unlike many Cinque Terre locations. Great restaurant (Il Pirata) right downstairs - try the cannoli! We were told dinner there was great, too. Room was small but clean and bright and the bed was comfortable with a window overlooking the street for fresh air. The price was good - not expensive, and Vernazza is a charming village.

Review 7:Vernazza is a great town, and these rooms are close by, but away from the noise of the waterfront. The room was small, mostly bed, but it was nice, clean, and comfortable.

Review 8:It was difficult to find after traveling all night and day from the US. Arriving late we were lucky to find someone to tell us where the key was and how to get to our room in the building that is not marked.

Review 9:It was clean and adequate for our stay. Very quiet and we felt safe in the area. It was nice to have A/C. The staff when we saw them were very kind. Great location for us after hiking all day. We would recommend it to our friends and family.

Review 10:its not very easy to find it because no brand or sign outside, but residents there are very helpful and its easy to find the hotel by asking residents there

Review 11:the location is very good and the room is quite clean and comfortable!

Review 12:When we arrived there was no one to receive us, and the only time we spoke spoke someone was when we paid the bill. We were promised a view on the sea, but were looking to a rock wall. The elevator didn't work, but nobody offered an apology.

Review 13:Vernacche is amazing, but better not to come there in high season.

Review 14:I was grateful for the air conditioning in our room after I found out that the floor upstairs from us did not have AC. We had a comfortable night of sleep. The breakfast is not free but very good downstairs at the Pirate Cafe. Great food for both breakfast and dinner.

Review 15:For the money it was like a old-fashioned boardinghouse. We had traveled all over Italy for three weeks with four other couples. We could use booking.com for thousands of dollars of hotel rooms. This room should've been a two star in about $70 a night

Review 16:Nothing.

Review 17:We liked the location which was up the street from the train station and away from the busy, noisy atmosphere of the "center" of Vernazza. Room was sparsely decorated, but very clean and neat and did have good AC and a tiny fridge. The two young women at reception were very pleasant and helpful. One of best things about this hotel was the restaurant right next door, il Pirata. Run by two brothers, this little gem had outstanding main dishes and desserts, and provided the most delicious pastries (baked in house) and coffee for breakfast. Would definitely stay here again!

Review 18:such a good location and very decently priced ! 2 minute walk to the town but away from the crowds. Amazing cafe just next to the hotel. Staff were so attentive and helpful and answered all our enquiries

Review 19:It started out really well with an employee looking for us and greeting us and showing us our room. After that we rarely saw a staff person to ask questions even during business hours. We knew that it did not offer breakfast but that would have been nice. We had to go in our hallway to get the WiFi to work. Also I think they should put a line of tape to mark the last step before going out the main door. The sun was shining one morning on the steps and the last step is shorter and wider and I did not see it and landed on my knee and face. Long story short, I damaged my patella and can not walk without being in pain. The 2 men in the restaurant (il pirata I believe) next door were super nice and gave me ice. They also have nice pasteries!

Review 20:Location, air conditioning and mini frig in the room

Review 21:One of the two rooms we booked had a bad odor throughout our two night stay. The AC was mediocre and neither refrigerator worked well. Both floors weren't cleaned thoroughly and the shower in one room leaked through the doors. We travel in Europe often and would not recommend this facility. We are used to small facilities so that wasn't an issue. The balcony they advertise is accessed through a broken door in the bathroom and is so small, two people would have a difficult time getting on to it comfortably.

Review 22:This facility is very close to the train station and is located right next to an excellent restaurant.

Review 23:Although the room was basic, liked the building it was in! Excellent pay laundry facilities, post office and bank were close. The Pirates Restaurant with twin brothers owners located in the same building deserve recognition for making us feel most welcome holding keys for the owner to give to us due to late check in, and offering wonderful meals and personalized service!

Review 24:Nothing bad about the experience but there really isn't any staff to assist or provide information. If you catch someone cleaning you may be able to ask a question but reception has limited unpredictable hours.

Review 25:Very good location. Beds were comfortable and the the rooms were clean. bathrooms were modern.

Review 26:Shower was small but it was fine.

Review 27:Location is good although not by the harbor. Vernazza is very small so it was easy to get to the harbor. Room was clean.

Review 28:The room was expensive for what was provided but everything seems to be expensive in the Cinque Terre area.

Review 29:The room was clean, functional and secure. The staff were great and helpful. There is no breakfast with the room but the restaurant next door was an excellent option. The room was close to the railway station as well.

Review 30:CInque Terre is expensive however as a downside, the breakfast should have been included in price. Though there is super nice cafe downstairs selling breakfast

Review 31:I had arrived Vernazza at 10:30 pm and for me the best part was how hassle free the front desk person Alessandra ensured for me to late check-in at late night. Vernazza is super tiny village unlike Monterosso or Riomaggiore, so after sunset the reception desk is not working… but she sent me sms with clear instructions how to reach the place at night and ensured everything is ready in reception in her absence and small instructions for me so that I could enter my room. Very clean and standard rooms in village.. again this is village so I did not expect hotel chain like room size or amenities

Review 32:The price per night is quite high for what you get but I think is in line with the average cost of any accomodation in the cinque terre.

Review 33:Very nice and friendly staff, everything was clean and functional. Good position, close to the train station and main street of vernazza.

Review 34:Not that much facilities, but we did not expect to have special or luxurious facilities. So, nothing specific.

Review 35:Location is good, just one minute to the beginning of the only main street and one kilometer from the closest public parking the other way up. Staff were very nice and helpful. Room was OK, nice and small.

Review 36:Modern, practical and very clean, working wifi, laptop in the room (we didn't use it), functional comfortable bathroom. No breakfast but working kettle with nescafé / tea. No view or special charm but close to the station. Friendly staff. Excellent for the price.

Review 37:It's minor not a place to put my shampoo and need a mirror in the bedroom

Review 38:Staff very friendly Super view from our bedroom and very close to train station

Review 39:Great location, very close to the train station. The two sisters that run the place were simply delightful and went out of their way to be helpful. Hope to come back soon.

Review 40:My only complaint was the cleaning staff, or so I believed, was moving the beds in the room above us early in the morning. I was woken up daily early. If that's my only complaint I must say this was an excellent place to stay with an even better staff.

Review 41:The receptionist was amazing. The young lady was knowledgable, friendly and personable.

Review 42:Not having a view of the harbor but..,

Review 43:It wasn't what I initially expected but I must say it was clean comfortable and very good value for money. I would recommend others to stay here.

Review 44:No breakfast is served and coffee only one morning when we stayed two.

Review 45:It had a lift for our suitcases, a restaurant next door on one side and a laundromat on the other. Also a post office if needed.

Review 46:I requested to check-in after 6 PM but I didn't get any answer. I call them and they told me that will email me about the check-in but they didn't. When we arrived at the hotel at 3 PM to make sure we don't lose our reservation they had noted to leave our key to bar, but we didn't know that. It was ok to inform us about the key.

Review 47:Clean

Review 48:A little expensive.

Review 49:Quite location up the hill a bit, but not far at all from the water. Be sure to eat at the restaurant downstairs. Great friendly owners, and gluten free friendly.

Review 50:The place is a little bit far from the center of Vernazza

Review 51:Most things provided are good for me. If you need to laundry your clothes, there is 24 hours laundry business next to this hostel.

Review 52:Shower was fine for me because I'm little but it was tiny which may be an issue for some. No other complaints.

Review 53:I was really pleased with this property. Location was relatively hard to find... had to ask a local but once we were there couldn't have asked for a better spot. Close to train station but opposite direction of all the noise. Well kept. Probably only property in Cinque Terre with an elevator. Loved the bedding.

Review 54:We arrived late on our day of check in and we were conveniently welcomed by the staff of the restaurant downstairs, Il Pirata delle Cinque Terre, who provided us with the keys to Affittacamere Tonino Basso. The room was comfortable, quiet and convenient to all that Vernazza had to offer. In the morning, the walls seemed thin, but we were getting up as well so it did not bother us. Check out was even easier by walking up one flight of stairs to their offices. We did not have any issues during our stay.

Review 55:Terrific place to stay, very convenient without having to walk up a multitude of steps to get to your room (there is also a lift). Great value for money, especially in the most beautiful town on the Cinque Terre.

Review 56:not a clear sign that is the place!!!!! Need a bigger sign. Light in bathroom kept shorting out. We had to bring the lamp in. They changed the bulb, but it shorted out again. TV remote did not work.

Review 57:location with the restaurant and laundry right below! Glad it had a lift!

Review 58:If driving to Vernazza, don't trust TomTom. One of the access roads has been closed for 3 years but TomTom still has it open. Other road is OK.

Review 59:Large clean airy room. Was all good.

Review 60:Would like a few more coat hangers in closet, but that is a very minor thing.

Review 61:Cleanliness, beds comfortable, shower was nice, little balcony available, mini refrigerator, location, Pirate Restaurant next door was excellent and provided gluten-free menu, lift available, staff was friendly, everything in room worked! Great value for money.

Review 62:A bit pricy for a college student, but it was GREAT quality

Review 63:I loved the hotel and the city. Located about 3 minutes from the train station and 5 minutes from the plaza, it was great. I would recommend this to anyone!

Review 64:You have to go through 3 locks to get to your room - a bit of a bother but not that bad.

Review 65:It was quiet and away from the craziness at the harbor, which was more important during the day than in the evening. The staff was extremely helpful, even contacted the car rental company for us and looked up train schedules. Each room has a laptop and WIFI for guest use. There is a great restaurant next door. There is an elevator for bringing up your luggage,

Review 66:reception is only open till 6pm and closed at lunch time. wouldn't come to this hotel if arriving late.

Review 67:quiet location, great cafe next door. laundry mat close. clean and comfortable

Review 68:Super lovely staff, comfy bed, lovely, quiet room in a beautiful village; just what I needed for a weekend break. And the Pirate Cafe downstairs had amazing food (even though that's not part of the business). It was great to fall out of bed for breakfast after a long day hiking. Thank you so much.

Review 69:Nothing!

Review 70:It exceeded my expectations- was very clean, the location was convenient (a short walk from the train station, off the main strip so quiet), and it was great value.

Review 71:Euro 110 for 2 persons/night was a great price during the main seasons. The room was a bit (but not too small), but very clean and in pleasant (simple) style. Staff not always present, but could be reached easily. When we arrived late, the keys were handed over by a "barrista" of the "Pirate". Air condition worked very well, WiFi less. Overall, highy recommendable.

Review 72:It's an incredibly noisy building. You can hear everyone's toilet flushing, everyone's shower running, and every footstep on the stairs. The view from the window was of piles of rubbish behind the building.

Review 73:It's in Vernazza, so there are lots of very good things close by. The young woman in reception was helpful and friendly.

Review 74:Our room was simple but more than sufficient for our 2-night stay in Vernazza. The place was easy to locate, just a 5 mins walk from the train station. We were pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the bed and the size of the bathroom, compared to what was expected of Italy. Even though we had a black out on our first night, Alessandra quickly came by to check on the room after we called her. It was overall a lovely stay, and we also really enjoyed the Pirata cafe just downstairs - we went there 5 times in 2 days!

Review 75:The room lacked the splendid views or any view really but as we were out on the walks every day it didn't really matter and the upside of that was not having to take baggage up the really steep hillsides to the places with views. All accommodation seems to be really expensive in this area.

Review 76:Really appreciated the short easy walk from the station and then there is a tiny lift so you don't have to lug your bags uo several floors. The room was simple but comfortable and what it lacked with views it made up for with ease and convenience. The sisters that run the place are really pleasant and helpful.

Review 77:Clean and quiet accommodations. One of the deciding factors in selecting this B & B was that it had A/C. However, the A/C was not working, and it seems that this was a frequent problem. Hardly slept the first night, as the weather was unusually warm. A fan was provided for the next night. Our biggest regret is that we didn't have dinner at the adjoining restaurant. It is very good and we enjoyed out breakfasts there.

Review 78:Staff not visible or available. Air conditioning did not work at night when needed. No breakfast included. Electric jug but only plastic cups. Wifi intermittent and only one device could be connected at a time.

Review 79:Well located - a little away from main part of village but still close. Rooms a good size and very clean and serviced daily. Good restaurant in front of building for breakfast and other meals.

Review 80:The hotel is conveniently close to the train station and just a few minutes walk to the center of town. The room was adequately large. A computer with wifi was available in the room. Very clean and comfortable.

Review 81:Very small bathroom and shower.

Review 82:Easy short walk from the train station and downtown area.

Review 83:No view of the med.

Review 84:Location up the hill was easy to get to. Elevator was extremely helpful for baggage. Right next to laundry mat.

Review 85:Very clean and it only takes 3 min walk from Vernazza train station. There is a very good Café downstairs.

Review 86:we had difficulty finding the place and the locals were not helpful to us when we enquired

Review 87:spacious room

Review 88:The location was great. Unlike much of Cinque Terre the hotel was a short walk, slight incline from train. Had an elevator

Review 89:Room a bit small but normal for Vernazza

Review 90:Quiet location. Restaurant next door is very good.

Review 91:Wi Fi was inconsistent.

Review 92:Located at the center of Vernazza. Good value for money.

Review 93:It was perfect!

Review 94:Extremely hard to find. Once I did find it, no one was there! Despite only being 4pm

Review 95:The cleaner each day was fantastic

Review 96:A bit of a climb up the hill, and almost impossible to find . Fortunately we ran into the landlady in the street .

Review 97:Very clean and safe

Review 98:In front of the hotel is the hiking path to Monterosso. Away from the main piazza while within walking distance

Review 99:a little bit noisy

Review 100:location was good, room is clean, breakfast at neighbours was very good

Review 101:Not bad, but since it was exceptionally hot, better A/C and fans would help.

Review 102:Clean and roomy.

Review 103:Tough to get at the hotel by car. Expensive room with minimum facilities and view on blind wall.

Review 104:the tv was small

Review 105:Everything

Review 106:Safe, quiet,clean,air con.

Review 107:Nothing really.

Review 108:Someone was waiting to greet us. It was friendly, helpful and very clean. It was over a great restaurant and so near the station.

Review 109:Was a comfortable room

Review 110:Very comfortable room / free wi-fi / friendly staff

Review 111:The wifi was spotty.

Review 112:The location was fantastic. The rooms were nicely appointed and clean.

Review 113:Breakfast not included!!!

Review 114:Good location, very clean and feel like home!

Review 115:Shower door leaked onto floor a little

Review 116:Had a little refrigerator

Review 117:Wifi

Review 118:Excellent location Clean room

Review 119:Little local support, no signage made locating room difficult, saved but restaurant next door, no support for luggage

Review 120:Price and cleanliness

Review 121:Ideal location, friendly and helpful staff.

Review 122:hairdryer take forever to dry hair, noisy building.

Review 123:location and staff and met some really lovely travelers to chat with.

Review 124:Silly television practically on the ceiling

Review 125:Clean and quiet
