Reviews for Hotel Mondial

Review 1:Weather of the room 104 was cold, and happens nothing after my announced . I think the problem will be resolved by manager , not staff .

Review 2:Staff are friendly .

Review 3:Very noisy at night. Chinese tourist always making noise, and it is not hotel for somebody who want to rest at night. The breakfast is same every day.

Review 4:The rooms were clean all the time. Staff clean all the time, every day. All people who work there are great!

Review 5:Even though the photos were correct with view of hotel lobby, rooms were not

Review 6:The front desk staff was knowledgeable and patient. Very helpful with directions.

Review 7:As Aussies, we like to have toast with breakfast. However breakfast is fine.

Review 8:We enjoyed staying in an area away from the tourist section of Venice. Bus stop outside Hotel to take you directly to the canal area within 15 minutes. The ticket cost 3 Euro for 2 for 2 days.

Review 9:Room was very basic with no tea or coffee making facilities staff woke us up very early each morning making noises out side in the corridor.

Review 10:Staff were very friendly and rooms were clean

Review 11:In the fisrt day, we made late check-in and arrived hotel at 9 pm. They gave a room which is disgusting. All the walls were almost full with blood stains (because of mosquitos) The shower cabin was broken or better to say that there isn't any. (just one wall seperator) The towels were dirty and bed was uncomfortable. We asked for room change. It wasn't a standard double room which we reserved. The receptionist said they cannot change the room at that time. Since we arrived late, there was just this room. . In the secon day, they changed our room which was clean and look like the room which we had seen from the hotel's photos before we book. however, it was a really disgusting room in the first night. We didn't think that it is a normal guest room, maybe because of the full occupancy, they tried to open such a room. Around of the hotel, there is almost nowhere to eat something...

Review 12:price and private bathroom

Review 13:they made a transaction from my card account of 39 Euro & they saied that it was cancelled but still not the amount of 39 Euro are still substracted from my account inspite of i had paied all the cost by another card on 1/10/2015

Review 14:the location

Review 15:The fact that the city map has to be paid, the WiFi that's only in the lobby, the lack of a proper bar.

Review 16:Parking inside the Hotel's parking lot and 30 seconds away from the bus station that will take you to Venice. The bar with the friendliest staff in Venice, 5 minutes away from the hotel, Al Vapore Bar, that has great food and drinks

Review 17:1. Without heater in winter !!! One of the staff says that they know, another one says that WAS WORKING THE DAY BEFORE but UNFORTUNATELY not that day... ahah 2. No hot water at evening .... 3. They had process the payment before I effectively arrived, so when I figure out wasn't the heater and the hot water I couldn't leave the structure... 4. The next morning, I asked about one hour more to leave the room. I was in trouble with my luggage (broken after a long trip). You think, well they cheat me about the heater, clearly they make me this favor... Obviously NOT. No chance... 6. It's a hostel not an hotel. Despite others I've seen before this is clearly the worst !!! No doubt.

Review 18:Horrible experience

Review 19:Have to pay to store your luggage, I've never seen this before at any hotel. Had to pay for a map of the area. An early check in fee if you wanted to use the room, even if it was ready. The toilet in the bathroom would have been unusable for a big or elderly person with poor mobility due to it's positioning in the corner.

Review 20:close to transport

Review 21:There was a couple of issues with this motel. Firstly they need new mattresses. We had springs sticking out into our backs they where hard as a rock. so we actually remade bed and turned mattress over... Bed was in poor condition... Secondly we had easy 50 mosquitos in our room... I don't know how they kept coming in. Our first night was restless as we had to chase them with a towel. Thirdly in the morning when I went down in the foyer I found this motel not to clean.. There was dirt all over the floors it needed a really good clean... Not good for people arriving in the morning. Fourthly if you are considering the breakfast I wouldn't there is only breadrolls , cereal, cakes, yoghurt and not so good coffee... I would go down the street to have a breakfast.. The last point is the airconditioning didn't work in the room as well. Also there was no television stations in English not 1 channel. If you pay for budget you sure get budget here. I would class this as a 1 star accommodation.. I wouldn't recommend this place...

Review 22:Location was very close to venice santa lucia only a train or bus ride away.... staff spoke English, free wifi if you where in the foyer..

Review 23:WiFi only in the lobby. Beds are so hard like sleeping on the board. Could hear everything from the next room, no soundproofing at all. If your room is facing the street you can hear all that trafic too.

Review 24:Location was decent.

Review 25:A dirty room that did not meet requirements of a 3 star hotel: not having a phone, chairs, lamps to read and so on, no curtains even if it was on the level 0. You could hear everything from other rooms as the walls were literally from cardboard. The personel did not do anything when the complaint was done. Offensive towards foreigners. Thanks God it was one night, never ever again.

Review 26:Breakfasts, the Location was a dump, we had an evening meal, choice was 1 or 2 course, we had 2 course but was charged for 3, the chicken meal we had was a pre packed frozen, some chip was hot some cold, would not recommend eating there, hairdryer didn´t work either.

Review 27:Location to the train station

Review 28:The room was awful: small, dirty, with insects. The bathroom was even more awful - everything was broken. Wi fi was available at reception only.

Review 29:The hotel is near bus station to Venice.

Review 30:We arrived at this hotel, dropped our bags off in our room and went out for the day. We returned in the evening. Upon entering the room I smelt a mouldy smell. Being asthmatic my chest immediately started to close. I went to reception to ask for another room. Massimo was behind the desk. As a hotel general manager myself, I have never come across such a rude, abrasive and confrontational young man behind a reception desk as Massimo! After trying to explain the situation to him, he started shouting at me as if it is my fault that his hotel is old and mouldy. He then went with me to check the room and still shouting – told me that I should announce problems upon arrival. This man should not be in hospitality industry! Eventually I asked him to get the hotel manager on the phone. He called his manager, and then called the hotel across the road (which is owned by the same owner). In the rudest, most dismissive tone, he pointed across the road to the hotel and told me to take my bags and move to the City Hotel. We moved across but had to move back the next night. This City Hotel is no more that a backpacking lodge, but at least there was no mould smell and the gentleman behind reception was professional. Fortunately Massimo was not on duty when we had to return to Hotel Mondial and all the other staff were pleasant.

Review 31:Nothing!

Review 32:Rude personnel in the restaurant. Really old furniture. One of the elevators stopped working. Very small rooms.

Review 33:Close to the bus station. Helpful personnel at the reception. Free parking, although ours was the last one.

Review 34:This hotel the worst one ever that i used. Rooms are so small, smells dampness.. We also got not working hair drying machine, even we requested new one; initially they promised and after we came back to hotel they said ahh we havent got any.. Look another one.. Do not spend your time in this hotel page..

Review 35:Close to train station..

Review 36:A little bit nosy on the weekend evenings as we had the windows open due to the hot weather.

Review 37:Great central location. Well appointed rooms, ours had a kitchenette.

Review 38:no facilities for making tea or coffee. Wifi only in reception area. Mosquitoes in room made for uncomfortable night.

Review 39:Location very handy to rail for 10 min €1.25 train to Venice. Reception friendly and helpful, particularly as I arrived late, on my own after 11pm

Review 40:Wifi only in loby, low A/C, two twin matress for a queen bed, a lots of mosquitoes

Review 41:Location was excellent, close to train station and bus less than 10 minutes to Venice atraction areas

Review 42:Old and run down. Spent the night killing mosquitoes and adding to the bug splatter already on the walls and ceiling.

Review 43:Great price for the location. A short walk to the Mestre Train Station and a few other dinning options.

Review 44:Noisy, air conditioning not working, no insects net on windows, very loud groups of guests, poor breakfast

Review 45:Acceptable location, close to the trainstation

Review 46:Dining room staff, cold dinner leaves a lot to be desired.. rooms ..tv didnt work, hairdryer didnt work, light didnt work. Cleaner didnt clean too good. Young make receptionist very rude to customers.

Review 47:Staff unfriendly.Check in at 15.00, but came at the morning , storage bag costs 1 euro. The map costs 1 euro. Breakfast is poor. Book in advance for 4 months, asked for one big bed and a view of the street, arrived, 2 single beds, view at the courtyard. The next day, fixed bed. Shower flows on the floor, a hole in the ceiling. No fridge and wi-fi in the room.

Review 48:The bus to Venice stops near the hotel, the reverse is also nearby. Автобус в Венецию останавливается возле отеля, обратный тоже рядом.

Review 49:Ant infestation in bedroom was terrible; ants got into our clothes and suitcases. Room air conditioning button was missing and unit not working making sleeping very uncomfortable on a very hot night. Beds were so hard we may as well have slept on the floor.

Review 50:Leaving

Review 51:The staff was ok! But the rest no. 1-Mold(we had to sleep withe thewindow open..it was full of mosquito any way. 2-Mosquito hell hole 3-theonly clean things were the towels...at least I hope they were.

Review 52:The staff and the parking sopt

Review 53:they canceled our reservation because of the credit card, but they didn't announce us what was the reason, and when we called to solve the problem they didn`'t activate again the breakfast for the room so when we get there we had to pay the breaksfast again, because they didn't put us on the list, even if we paid once when we booked the room at the first time.as we could see, this is an often used trick at this hotel.staff attitude was deplorable, arrogant.small room.

Review 54:Aircon is rubbish. Couldnt sleep it was too hot. Room small and needs referbishing. Wifi on and off, wouldnt stay again breakfast very basic, better go into venice for food

Review 55:Locatoon to train station and bus stop.

Review 56:Storing baggage post check-out comes with an additional charge. Staff were not helpful in lending us some cutlery.

Review 57:Spacious room with sunshine peeping in.

Review 58:There is no wifi in the room Even in the lobby, no internet after 23.00 We were forced to move to the hotel which is across the hotel we booked The staffs are so rude The gate of the hotel is closed after 24.00 Breakfast is so poor Room is like a prison

Review 59:Location is good very close to the station

Review 60:Staff were not helpful nor nice, we spent 2 nights here our first ever in Italy -- we were not told how to use the air system and after going to another hotel realized that is why we were so hot! The shower is very small and the bathroom also is toilet under sink sized. The staff did not try to be friendly in any way, though the lady who officially checked us in was at least business like.

Review 61:Location near the train station. Very convenient for traveling to mestre station and then commuting to Santa Lucia for the day.

Review 62:VERY small family room. NO Aircondition even it's stated ... Thing is, there were an aircondition installed, and it was turned on, but I strongly doubt it could chill A softdrink in a cooler box ...

Review 63:Close to train station, easy access to Old Venice

Review 64:Nothing really.

Review 65:Location - it's very close to the train station and the bus stop to the port. The hotel itself is clean and has all basic facilities. Breakfast was included. Staff was helpful in providing useful information bus and ferry to the main island. There are a couple of good restaurants and bakeries as well as a convenient shop to buy bus and ferry tickets.

Review 66:Staff were less than friendly. Breakfast was without fruit. Location was excellent in that it was close to train station not really a freinly area though. Wasnt overly impressed with the cleanliness of the room. I had a cheap room that you had to take a different elevator too. Looked like a service area to me. You get what you pay for and venice is expensive so if u just want somewhere to stay that will do ok then this can work.

Review 67:hotel is full of mosquitoes and room air conditioner is a JOKE. it is of so low power that it only makes noise and never cools the room. HORRIBLE HOTEL. don't waste your money

Review 68:location close to station

Review 69:At Mondial they said there was problem with my room so they moved me to some other property across street. They couldn't even keep my reservation right! So I stayed in something called City of Art Venice. First there were poblems with my booking, I needed to wait. Wifi DIDN'T WORK. And when it did it was 0,34 mbps. Other networks on same channel interfered and the coverage was poor. Also wifi was only available at lobby, required additional fee. The room was dirty and dead insects were seen on the walls. AC also didn't work, only made noise. Mosquitoes were present in the room. Please, beware of this hotel. It was a very poor investment that I regret.

Review 70:Location - close to Mestre train station.

Review 71:No air condition.we openened the only window in the room .the room was filled with mosquitoes which hurt us in our bodies.it was so hot....bathroom was so small and misrable and not clean.

Review 72:The crew were helpful .location to cruise port in venice was good.bus station sas next to the entrance.

Review 73:No english channels on the TV, only Italian. The Hotel should upgrade to a better TV subscription service to include english TV channels.

Review 74:Location good, comfortable, economic. Access to the train station is via an underground walkway. Breakfast and Dinner were good.

Review 75:There are no restaurants near our hotel so I needa take the dinner in hotel. The dinner costs 12 euro per person but is not quite good. Moreover, only free wifi in the lobby, no wifi covered in the room. The room is a little bit dirty, especially blankets. I don't like the toilet too.

Review 76:The staffs are quite helpful and tell us to take bus 6 to Venice boat station. It is convenient as there is bus directly to the main attraction. If you buy the Venice pass, then it is free to take bus to Venice Roma station. Also, Three is a supermarket near our hotel.(just 15 minutes walk) Just ask the staff then they will tell you how to go.

Review 77:I would like to suggest to the hotel that you write detail or write the map how to get to the hotel by walking. it will be much more easier for tourists. I dont know the way to walk to hotel so I took the taxi. it costed about 12 euro.

Review 78:very near to the train station.

Review 79:The room was very hot. No air condition.when we opened the window looking for air many mosquitoes hurt us.it was so hard to sleep.

Review 80:The location is good.the staff are polite and helpful.

Review 81:poor connection to wifi network; only hv wifi in the lobby area; no fridge in room; no supermarket nearby.

Review 82:The room in general is okay and extremely convenient location to Venice city center by bus.

Review 83:Ottima posizione a due passi dalla stazione di Mestre, stanza pulita e confortevole, eccellente colazione a buffet (con prevalenza di dolce sul salato), consigliato.

Review 84:The staff was not very welcoming, it felt like they are bored to work. The aircoconditioning wasn't working AT ALL! the shower in room 406 is kinda broken, not a lot of water was coming out! the breakfast is a joke! no cheese slices and the bread was hard! the wifi was working ONLY in the lobby but only daytime. when we tried to connect night time, the wifi would connect and disconnect immediately so no internet basically!

Review 85:The room was clean and the location was good.

Review 86:Beds and pillows weren't so great. No wifi in rooms, only lobby.

Review 87:Very close to train station. Beautiful neighborhood to walk in. Helpful friendly staff.

Review 88:Wifi didn't work the first night and also in the morning. It was very difficult for us to book our next trip without wifi. Also, there were mosquitoes flying everywhere, even in the bedroom. I'm not sure if it's normal in Venice or it's just the hotel.

Review 89:It was cheap and close to the train station.

Review 90:Single bed was too small. It was hard to fall in sleep. There was no wİ-fi service in the room. even at the loby unless you sit right beside the elevator or on the stairs.

Review 91:It was close to the main train station which is good it was just 5 minutes away. price was OK.

Review 92:No Wi-Fi. Small bathroom. Not so clean.

Review 93:The location is very near the train station when using the underground tunnel below the train station. Polite staff.

Review 94:We had a terrible night due to Mosquitos. There is no screen stoping them and I got biten 8 times. The wifi at the lobby is very slow. Body milk/ moisturiser would be nice to be include

Review 95:we liked having a small breakfast buffet although there was nothing hot and it is very well located next to the train station and frequent buses to Venezia.

Review 96:Urgently needed wifi and although it was free it was none existent. Couldn't connect.

Review 97:Room was clean and perfect for a family of 4! Amazing value for money.

Review 98:Room was not ready at check-in time. Poor wiFi connections. Though advertised as free, wifi available only at the hotel reception. Staff are not responsive and do not volunteer information about the local travel options but instead ensure that hotel guests use the exorbitant hotel car facilities .

Review 99:Hotel location.

Review 100:Bus strike on our first day & hotel offered taxi service to Venice at €40 each way! What they didn't tell us was buses were still running for 3 hours in the morning & 3 hours in the evening. We spoke to a bus driver who informed us; needless to say we caught the bus for €1.30 each way!

Review 101:Lovely clean tidy hotel. Bus or train ride 20 mins to Venice; both options are readily available 1 min or 5 mins away. Rooms basic but well kept & clean. B'fast continental but plenty of it. Hotel 5 mins walk from airport bus drop off point; walk right through the train station under pass for platforms, after exit turn 1st left walk to next main road hotel is just across the road slightly right. We enjoyed the stay, All in all awesome!

Review 102:Beds and pillows hard as rocks. Breakfast variety of food was very limited. Wi fi should be throughout, not just in the lobby.

Review 103:Location to train station was great. Very clean.

Review 104:Now the hotel it self is very deprecate. Facility unkept and dirty, you can see fllies in the lobby area, rooms are old, the beds are rather cot in which you can see the coils of the mattress and worst yet you can feel them when laying on them. Bathrooms are also dirty And old.

Review 105:The location of the hotel is eccellent! Located behind the metres train station And close to Transportation.

Review 106:Extremely small shower, thin walls and very poor wifi connection (wasn't even able to connect)

Review 107:Location perfect for Venice visitors, bus #6/6L stoped right outside the hotel, 4 bus stops to Venice.

Review 108:Check-in time, but I had no problem I received a confirmation for late check-in. No free Wi-Fi in the room, but it is available on the reception. Beds are not so comfortable, but it is not problem for short stay.

Review 109:Location, value for money

Review 110:Great value for money without the need to share a bathroom. Staff were both helpful and friendly and Hotel was clean. Breakfast was very basic but did provide the usual continental choices. Tea and coffee were not great but as I said-Value for money, there was an evening menu which sounded very nice but we did not try this. It would have been nice to be able to get a drink at the bar or at least water on arrival however this was not something provided by the hotel, however there was a vending machine in the foyer. I Would recommend as a base if visiting Venice and sightseeing in the area. We also travelled to Lake Garda by train, and Lido de Jeselo by bus from the Mestre Station which also does Airport Transfers by bus and coach at a fraction of the cost. Wifi was very poor.

Review 111:A little jar of boiling water, u must pay 1 euro.. Also, pay 1 euro for keeping 1 luggage.. Wifi can not be used in the room even though you want to pay for it. Also, wifi sucks.

Review 112:Good location, still have some asian food around, supermarket,...

Review 113:1) Hotel staff told that the central air conditioning is switched-on only in mid summer for 3months. When I stayed there during last week of April, the temperature goes generally above 20c. Imagine yourself sleeping in humid room of 25c without air conditioning. When I asked about air conditioning as they claim to have it in Booking.com description, the staff suggested me to open the window doors. The hotel is just besides a major traffic way, so opening window door will be quite noisy to an extent that you are guaranteed get up few times in the night due to engine roars and traffic noise. 2) There is no WiFi connectivity except in the hotel lobby. Even there, it doesnt work. It will take forever to connect to the WiFi and the signal drops in few minutes and this loop will continue. 3)The beds are not comfortable except for children who are less than 10 years. If you are more than 180meter tall or have weighs more than 85Kgs, I can confidently say that the beds will be quite small for a comfortable sleep. 4) The double bed room is no bigger than 2 small beds plus one feet in all directions.

Review 114:Location. Just 5 minutes walk from Venice Mestre station.

Review 115:Very rude staff, poor breakfast, dirty place (for Italian standards), hard to find a parking spot on a tiny car park.

Review 116:It's located close to the train station but no restaurants or bars around.

Review 117:I have arrived at around 11 p.m. and there was no hot water in the shower anymore, breakfast starts too late (7 am) and there is no possibility to drink even only a coffee earlier

Review 118:very close to Mestre train station and to airport bus, good value for money

Review 119:The rooms were smally from cheap cleaning materials, and also not so clean. the Wifi is only in the lobby and works very very slow no blankets... we had to sleep with something like a table map... or a curtain

Review 120:Location is great both for Train and bus to Venice - 10 minutes in both very very cheap stay for 2 people for 3 nights

Review 121:No wifi in the rooms! That was a major turn off as I was on a bussines trip and wanted to check my e-mails. I was told the wifi works in the loby, but the connection was so bad I got tired off waiting. No private parking available, parking is only possible in the streets near the hotel, but it looked safe enough and was reasonably priced.

Review 122:Convenient location, 10 minutes from Venice, bus stop outside the hotel. Good breakfast with lots of choices, good coffee, clean rooms.

Review 123:As my ph charger was three pin so I asked for a multiplug for which I had to deposit 10euros. Even a cup of hot water wasnt complimentary we had to buy it. No grocery stores near the hotel.

Review 124:The hotel was really clean. Breakfast was available for only 4 euros which was quite cheap. We could catch the bus right outside the hotel to go to the boat station.

Review 125:Hmm... we came in early so we had to leave our luggage at the storage, which they charge for every luggage stored. That wasn't too nice needing the hotel guests to pay for that.

Review 126:All is pleasant including the breakfast

Review 127:Small bathroom. Dust on the walls, dirty curtains.for us it wasn`t necessary but the aircondition seems not worked. Remote control doesn`t work. No WiFi in 2014 isn`t good enough!

Review 128:close to the trainstation, simple breakfast but ok

Review 129:we chose this hotel because of the price and location. the bus stops to and fromvenice is 50meters (going to venice) to150 (from venice) meters from the hotel. we had the room on the first floor so we got wifi, not the top speed but just ok to surf online. breakfast is very good and more than enough.

Review 130:There is only poor WiFi connectivity in the main reception. They forgot to clean my room, but that was supposed to be a single room, and there was one clean bed, so I still took it after all.

Review 131:It is a decent place as compared to the expensive hotels on the Venice island.

Review 132:Poor breakfast , no fresh cappuccino . They charge 1 euro per bag to " keep it safe" behind a curtain, 1 euro for city map, 5 euros for lending you a wine opener !!!! Thank god they didn't charge 1 euro per question i made !!!!I have never been treated more as a " wallet"!

Review 133:Clean rooms Recently renovated Bus outside the hotel , 10' ride to Venice

Review 134:Can't come up with anything since we stayed for just one day. Maybe the bed springs were kind of uncomfortable but if you're tired it wouldn't really matter.

Review 135:Staff was very friendly and helpful, that's the first thing you look for in a budget-friendly place, the overall appearance may not be as pleasant as you expect but hey as long as the people are more than willing to help you out, your stay will be more or less comfortable. Lifts are provided. A bus stop is located close by for your entry to Venice.

Review 136:Wifi only in reception.

Review 137:Very full breakfast with pastries, bread, butter, cereal, yogurt, coffee and chocolate machine, ... Free parking. Clean rooms and spacious bathroom. Nice staff

Review 138:Early check-in is very expensive (20€) Strange stink in the hotel room When you flush a toilet, the water splashes on the floor

Review 139:Location (close to Venice, bus stop in front of the hotel) Hotel personel sells public transport tickets and helps you find your way It is possible to use hotel parking lot before check-in

Review 140:Mattresses were uncomfortably hard. The options at breakfast were too limited and not of great quality. Fittings and furniture were minimal, but adequate.

Review 141:Good location for visits to Venice.

Review 142:Air conditioner did not work; phone did not work; TV did not work; safe in room did not work as the batteries were all corroded and there were no new ones. The "closet" in our room was a cove behind a curtain. There was a rod on which to hang the clothes with windows overhead on the ceiling, one of which was broken and taped together. One good rain and the clothing would be soaked. Complaints to the front desk on a daily basis were without results until the last day when there was a manager. Only the phone and TV were fixed; all other items were left in disrepair.

Review 143:The close proximity to the bus to Venice.

The Fine Print

Please note that the parking lot is not guarded and parking spaces are limited.A charge applies for arrivals outside check-in hours. All requests for late arrival are subject to confirmation by the property.
