Reviews for The Green Leaf, Niseko Village

Review 1:I booked online for 2 adults and 1child. When I got there it was only for 1adult. I had to pay almost $500 more so my husband and daughter could stay in the same room as me. That was disappointing.

Review 2:Friendly and helpful staff

Review 3:Insufficient dining options Breakfast should be extended to 10am

Review 4:Extremely friendly and helpful Nice and good breakfast Cozy bar area Impressive outdoor onsen Reliable shuttle bus service Ski in/ Ski out with inhouse ski rental and lessons Rooms of good size, with 3 seater sofa, super king size bed, writing desk

Review 5:Travelled with 2 kids, aged 8 and 10. Did not know both kids must pay for daily charges, which amounted to more than S$900 for 4nights. I would have booked other hotels that is more family orientated.

Review 6:Washroom Mattress is a bit too hard

Review 7:Breakfast Lounge Helpful and friendly staff Excellent ski coach Clean Beautiful onsen area Ski centre is connected to the hotel. Extremely convenient!

Review 8:In the female onsen, mothers were seen bringing their boys in, this should not be allowed. Hotel staff seem amateurish and not able to handle things professionally.

Review 9:I emailed the hotel month ago to ask for them to arrange for a a cake for my partners birthday as a surprise in the room. Despite them replying to say that this would be communicated, it was not done. When I asked them for a cake later on, they eventually did get one, and charged me 3000 yen for it. Furthermore, cake was put in the room without a lighter, without forks and plates. Hotel could really train its staff better.

Review 10:Great location. Clean and modern. Good ski resort. Polite staff.

Review 11:-Room is too tiny if compared with money you paid -Bathroom is like hotel price less than 5000 yen -facilities and function in the room is too old -price of water and things at convinience store at hotel G floor all are over price -when call to font desk about ask them for universal adapter, they don't know what does it mean and I have to got down to font desk for take it by myself. (It's not 5 stars hotel standard) - wifi has bad signal -cannot breath at night because air flow doest good for human. -time schedule for bus to train station and to any place, doesnt friendly to guest who stay at hotel.

Review 12:Only outdoor onsen is good but still far from photos in the website

Review 13:the room is a bit outdated, need to refurbish again..there's no air con available, only got the central heating, but its a bit too hot n stuff inside the room even though during winter time. at least should do better for the air ventilation.the free shuttle bus is not frequent enough cos the gondola entrance is at Hilton side,so it's a bit of a trouble or to walk or take the bus cos the location is not too far but not too close.

Review 14:the location of the hotel which can be ski in ski out...nice lobby n bar lounge, the outdoor onsen is good

Review 15:Western part of the breakfast buffet could be better, but it's ok.

Review 16:The hotel is at the bottom of the mountain, so great ski out and ski in. Everything is very well done, charming interior design overall. Nice spa and both indoor and outdoor onsen on premises. We had brilliant time.

Review 17:The wi-fi signal in some areas, especailly my room, it is not stable and disconnected several times

Review 18:Location is stunning. I've got a great view from my room.

Review 19:The rooms are comfortable but very small especially for a more extended stay. I believe most westerners would be accoustomed to having more space and room to move in an hotel "suite".

Review 20:Wi-fi very slow in rooms, better in the bar area

Review 21:Location was excellent, straight from ski locker onto the slopes. Onsen was great for relaxing at the end of the day

Review 22:Rooms are incredibly small with nowhere to put your bags (except on the floor which makes the room even smaller). Location is very remote with only the Hilton nearby. No other shops/restaurants nearby unless you catch the bus to Hirafu. Ski hire place is ruthless with charging/times and returns. (we couldn't pick up our skis the night before, they wanted to charge a whole day for pickup at 6PM)

Review 23:Great for ski in ski out. Clean and generally nice with helpful hotel staff. Beautiful views from your room.

Review 24:The bus schedule made it difficult to get to different parts of the mountain after night skiing starts.

Review 25:Very nice staff and the rooms were new, clean and very good views of the area. Breakfast was very nice and they had a nice, but small, store to buy beer, snacks, and ski accessories.

Review 26:Niseko Village has very limited night skiing slopes (2) compared to Harifu, Hanazona and Annupuri. The Niseko Hilton Gondola closed due to high winds 3 out of the 9 days, which meant catching the bus to another resort and eating into ski time. The hotel has no means to dry ski equipment except carrying it all up to the room and turning it into a Chinese laundry to dry it. The whole hotel was hot a stuffy and there was no ability to adjust the room temperature. The 'double room' was two single beds pushed together. Breakfast was stale and repetitive after 8 nights. If you want a choice of venues for dinner I would recommend staying in Harifu otherwise you're catching a bus back every evening.

Review 27:Ability to ski in, ski out was convenient. Lovely Onsen, but needs a mixed one. The view from the huge bedroom windows was nice to wake up to.

Review 28:The only option for dinner in the hotel appeared to be the buffet in the Goshiki which we did not try as we did not want buffet, so we would take the shuttle bus into Hirafu which had a range of restaurants.

Review 29:Comfortable and convenient, ski in, ski out, the regular shuttle bus and niseko bus services were good, hotel staff friendly and helpful. Relaxing in the outdoor onsen after a day of skiing to ease sore muscles and watch the snow falling. The big picture window looking out on the mountain of snow.

Review 30:Other tourists - hotel guests are required to line up for buses outside the foyer. Although most line up in an orderly fashion, other guests feel free to push in - very rude! In addition, I felt ashamed to also be a tourist there with everyone's loud talking/swearing/street drinking/littering and what does that say about our culture compared to Japanese culture. Pushing in line for the buses is not something caused by Green Leaf staff but the issue is that it's not policed by the hotel.

Review 31:Staff - Brilliant, very helpful/friendly. Location - Amazing views, can snowboard all the way back to the hotel. Onsen - so/so, indoor onsen crowded and extremely hot, temperature of outdoor onsen is influenced by the weather outside. Beds - so/so, can be firm/too hard.

Review 32:The hotel is located at the bottom of the Niseko Village ski runs and you can ski directly from the hotel to the Banzai chairlift, and from there along a green run to the Niseko Gondola at the Hilton Hotel. There's a comfortable lounge area in the lobby where you can enjoy some drinks and snacks during or after a day's skiing. If you want to visit Hirafu there are shuttle buses that run throughout the day and late into the night.

Review 33:Wi-fi reception within the room is horrible during peak times. Mostpeople just crowd the lounge with apple products to use the wifi there.Kind of ruins the atmosphere that is supposed to be a bar/lounge.Niseko Village area is not a great place to ski, compared to Hirafu. Skiers goto Japan for off piste skiing, but specifically in Niseko Village, the boundary rope is right on the side of the pisted run, not allowing you to do any legitimate off piste skiing. There is some open glades LOWER mountain, but it is not cold enough at that altitude for the snow to be good. Also the ski run from the hotel takes you to Banzai chair, not Niseko Village Gondola. If you want to ski directly to the gondola you need to walk up the hill (not a long hike, 5 mins) to access the run to take you to the gondola. Heating in the rooms were way too hot. We turned the thermostat right down and the heater was still on. We needed to open the windows on some nights to control the temperature, but then the noise from the snow groomers would wake me up.

Review 34:Location is ski in ski out. Staff knew English and were very helpful.Breakfast buffet was excellent - we stayed there for 10 nights, andthere is a wide range of different food (western and japanese) that youcan try every day. Bus ran regularly enough to goto Hirafu or Hilton.Outside onsen was amazing.Walking to the Hilton/Village was really only 10 mins on the snow run rather than the road. Ignore the previous whingers about the small size of the rooms/bathrooms, long hallways, regularity of buses. This is not the place for extreme/wasteful luxury. If you are the type of person that needs large counter tops in the bathrooms for your makeup and creams, this is not the country for you. Size of bathrooms and rooms was always consistently small across Japan.

Review 35:1,Very limited option for food,1 restaurant serve only buffet.. 2the outdoor onsen is not safe,my 4Y daughter fell down there..

Review 36:Good for skier definitely..

Review 37:Web you most need a shuttle, they decide that the people behind you on the line will go on the shuttle, and you will have to wait for another 30 minutes, to maybe go on that one. Poor selection of restaurants (only one at the hotel) and the Niseko Village is not worth going without reservation. Very limited selection for equipment rental and not really another option unless you go with the shuttle to other location

Review 38:Excellent location and great breakfast. Nice service.

Review 39:We chose this ski in/ski out for convenience & have done so in the past. Easy check in / check out process with accomodating staff. Free shuttle bus & good time table gets you into town & back without any hastle. Will be back again next year.

Review 40:Wifi was useless and cut out constantly. It's a shame there was no other shops or restaurants around but buses made it easy to get to other areas. White liner bus didn't drop us out the front and walking with all our gear up the road in the snow although not too far was a disappointing start

Review 41:Fantastic staff and ski in ski out made skiing so easy

Review 42:Wifi was patchy in room

Review 43:Ski in ski out was great, shuttle service to Hirafu was ok but at times very crowded when top lifts closed. Could have run more often. Onsen was fantastic

Review 44:Wifi poor in hotel room (stayed on top floor) As a younger couple, would have preferred to stay in Hirafu - it is only a 15 min free bus ride away but would have been less hassle to have stayed there Nothing going on in the evening around the hotel (there is Niseko Village close by at the Hilton but it was empty)

Review 45:Attentive and friendly staff Lovely decor Great views from rooms Good breakfast selection both japenses and western style Good ski in/out and because Niseko Village isn't a destination as Hirafu, you still find lots of fresh near the hotel for days.

Review 46:The staff was very polite and helpful, the location is amazing and the option of skiing in and out is absolute luxury. The onsen is very clean and my daughter and I went to the Onsen every day after skiing to relax. The food at the hotels restaurant is amazing value for money.

Review 47:- Limited food options available - Only had buffet offering for dinner - Wifi internet was slow during peak periods

Review 48:- Outdoor onsen - Ski-in/Ski-out location - Comfortable sized rooms, with excellent views

Review 49:Too much paperwork to upgrade ski. No porter No towel at the onsen bath area

Review 50:Convenience services like rental and locker location Very friendly and helpful staff Decent selection in buffet for breakfast and dinner.

Review 51:Too far away from restaurants in the evening. Had to get a coach out every night. Only option at the hotel is a buffet meal at $40 per person. Very uninteresting. Hilton village options quiet no atmosphere and pricey. Also had to get a coach there - 3 minutes away. Too far to walk in the snow. No pavements and slippery. My husband was disappointed with the ski hire. Not much choice. Basic. Better in hirafu.

Review 52:Lovely hotel. Beautiful bedroom views and great onsen. Fabulous breakfast. Staff spoke good English and informative.

Review 53:Nothing at all to fault

Review 54:This hotel is a must stay! On check in you are met with very friendly and courteous staff who really go out of their way to make your stay the best it can be. The hotel is very comfortable, the rooms very well appointed and the view though the large window into the snow is awesome. Breakfast and dinner contains a wide range of unbelievable foods on offer. The Onsen is just so relaxing after a hard day of skiing. Ease of transport into Niseko village. Again the staff really take that extra step to make your stay the best - thank you to everyone.

Review 55:This is certainly not a luxury hotel. Rooms are very small. bathroom is even smaller. Not nearly enough space to dry your ski clothes. No boot dryer in the lockers. TV has 3 channels. Hotel is a long way from shops/restaurants.

Review 56:Ski in, ski out location. Staff helpful.

Review 57:The dinner buffet was not reasonable when you consider the food choices. It's best to get out of the hotel and dine in Hirafu for some warm ramen. We asked for an extra pillow but was told they don't have any.

Review 58:The location was excellent for skiing. Lift was right outside the hotel. Book ski instructors in advance. The corner room was fantastic with great views. Beds were comfortable and living room was spacious. It was a big plus that there was a mini kitchen and two toilets. The outdoor onsen was a great experience with snow all around. Have time to explore the nearby hotel Hilton Niseko for free use of their onsen. Staff was quick and attentive to needs of guests.

Review 59:Rooms are small and need rufurbishing. The ski equipment rental area are understaffed and staff are rude. Most of the English speaking staff are not helpful to beginners. Billed me wrongly but luckily error spotted by the older Japanese staff. Found out the hotel is only open for the winter and staff are recruited from few hotels in the chain. But still had great experience. Kids had fantastic time and learnt to snowboard.

Review 60:Great as a ski lodge. Beautiful dining area.

Review 61:Room is too small! Totally different as the pic showed on the website!! The room Furniture are sooo old ! And the bath room is too small and not so clean!!! All thing are too old, not worth the price we paid !!

Review 62:As it was the beginning of the ski season, the timing of the shuttle buses to Hirafu and Kuchan were rather limited. Dinner option is limited if one did not feel like heading to nearby town with only 1 restaurant on site serving buffet dinner.

Review 63:Excellent facilities plus great view from the room. The outdoor onsen was also a good experience. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service. Buffet breakfast had a nice variety with very scenic mountain views from the restaurant. Unfortunately it was too early to ski and the ski school only opened on the day we were checking out. We will be back next year.

Review 64:No quality carving skis available for hire.

Review 65:Ski in ski out as promised.

Review 66:too crowded

Review 67:The snowy window view

Review 68:Wifi was extremely poor especially towards evenings till late night Lighting in the room was poor

Review 69:Ski in ski out accommodation Helpful staff

Review 70:The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Loved the outdoor onsen - what a beautiful experience !

Review 71:weak internet connection

Review 72:good staff service

Review 73:Bed, i have a backache. Open hour of the restaurant and the variety of food.

Review 74:the atmosphere, staff, cleanliness.

Review 75:Room is quite small..do not bring many or large suitcases.

Review 76:The ski area just step away from your room.

Review 77:Too less eating options.

Review 78:Good location, but the facility is a little bit old fashion.

Review 79:Food!!!

Review 80:Love everything

Review 81:connectivity to get to Hirafu

Review 82:Breakfast, onsen, ski in/out

Review 83:Quality of toilet paper

Review 84:Most of all politeness of staff. Locker system Cleanliness

Review 85:Location

Review 86:No transformer; No shop or restaurant nearby

Review 87:Have a shuttle bus ; Chinese serving of skating learning

Review 88:Very slow internet in the room, a bit faster in the lobby

Review 89:Ski in / ski out, friendliness of staff

Review 90:small bathroom, old facilities, ski slope is only good for intermediate level or above

Review 91:good location, friendly staff, very clean, near ski slope

Review 92:Less frequent of shuttle bus connecting with Hillton Hotel.

Review 93:Good location for ski in & ski out

Review 94:Bathrooms are quite small

Review 95:The views from our room, and being away from the typical busy apartments in Hirafu

Review 96:everything was perfect for our honeymoon!

Review 97:The staff were super nice and very helpful, the place is beautiful, and the osen was amazing!

Review 98:no shops around

Review 99:ski in/ ski out. onsen especially outdoor onsen.

Review 100:Some what far to town

Review 101:Hot outdoor pool (Olsen) Breakfast included Ski hire onsite Friendly staff. Lift close, ski down to it from door

Review 102:bathroom was small

Review 103:Awesome staff, all very friendly and especially helpful with our 8 month old

Review 104:Poor Wifi. Unknown extra charges at end of stay

Review 105:Great location, good onsen.

Review 106:no restaurant for dinner or late dinner!

Review 107:skiing in and out; onsen, hotel staff are very efficient, polite and helpful! Breakfast is good!

Review 108:Really not well trained staff, service is not good!!! They looked like part time job attitudes!! And not well worth for the time rate

Review 109:no english channel. only cnn and bbc was not working

Review 110:more english tv channel. more eating places in the hotel.

Review 111:Skiing facilities are very good.

Review 112:wi-fi very slow

Review 113:great staff, onsen, ski facilities

Review 114:If Hilton & green leaf are same company why cannot return clothing & equipment at either rental shops?

Review 115:No

Review 116:Very good

Review 117:Staff is not well train, unfriendly , info from staff not sufficient, causes us with inconvience experience

Review 118:The resort is a little way out of the town, and the resort shuttle and local bus run at almost the same time, it would give more choice if they were staggered. Also the bar doesn't open until 2.00 and you can't sit the lounge and get a coffee in the mornings. The evening menu is fixed, and it would be nice to have some different options, such as a la carte, without having to leave the hotel.

Review 119:Ability to ski in and out. Outdoor Onsen was fabulous. Lunch time food was excellent and great value. Staff were really helpful and friendly when I tore a calf muscle. Hotel is really clean and the rooms are very comfortable and they all have great views.

Review 120:If you are an avid skier, the night skiing on the Niseko/Annupuri side of the mountain is lack luster. The Grand Hirafu area is the best area for night skiing and quantity of dinner choices within walking distance of hotels. Of course, after 7 days the breakfast buffet became repetitive because it was basically the same items with a few dishes rotated out daily. The bathrooms look a bit older than the rest of the hotel, but they were clean, so not really a problem.

Review 121:The Green Leaf is a ski in/ski out hotel conveniently located in Niseko Village. Having stayed in Kutchan the previous year, I did not mind the location because I already knew the slopes and the surrounding area so I could successfully move from the different ski areas, and get around the town for dinner using either the hotel shuttle or the Niseko United bus. I did not have problems with the bus system but I believe it could be a problem in the peak season during the New Year. I preferred the slopes in Annupurri and Niseko Village during the day because they were less crowded than the Grand Hirafu area. Although there are not as many restaurants in the Niseko Village area, there were enough quality choices during my stay if I chose to remain in the area for dinner during my week long stay. The hotel staff was very courteous and the hotel was clean, with nice decor. I only ate at the hotel for breakfast (and once in the bar area after the slopes). The buffet had enough choices to satisfy most palates. The bar was nice and served light snacks/lunches and excellent hot chocolate. Overall, I will return to Niseko to ski (snowboard actually), and I would recommend the Green Leaf. The previous year I stayed at Chalet Ivy which definitely has a better location (in Kutchan which also means more expensive), however I think the Green Leaf is a quality hotel with a nice onsen at a decent price compared to some of the other popular hotels closer to the Grand Hirafu area. The hotel is about 2000 yen to the Niseko train station by cab if you don't want to be bothered with the shuttle or securing a seat on a busy day.

Review 122:Limited choice for dinner. Have to use courtesy bus to town to access excellent choice of restaurants. The bus especially at peak time are sometimes full.

Review 123:Ski in ski out. Great onsen for soaking after hard day's skiing. Very friendly staff.

Review 124:For a hotel on that level I expect at least a couple of TV stations in English given the high percentage of native English speaking guests.

Review 125:It is good value for money and the location is almost unbeatable. The staff is very competent and friendly. I particularly love the onset after a long and tiering day.

Review 126:The front desk staff was not friendly and presented no smiles at all (he was not a Japanese). One of the onsen visits was a disappointment when the group of Chinese tourists entered with super loud noise, slippers, swimwears and camera!!!!!

Review 127:The staff at the main restaurants were friendly despite the traffic and number of guests at peak hours.. The onsen at the occasion without the Chinese tourists was relaxing and enjoyable.

Review 128:Small rooms, was not even close to a delux room , every room was supposed to have mountain views, not true. We stayed on the first floor, we only saw a huge pile of snow.

Review 129:Ski in and out

Review 130:During the check in, we have problem as the hotel want to charge us a diferent rate for the kid (diferent from the written proposal), finally we had the rate we has expected( another couple had the same experience)

Review 131:I missed more options on food. There were only a full buffet as an option for dinner or small bar snacks. It meant I had to go away to find something to eat. As a diabetic this was often quite a hassle. Also too early closing hours for bar. The hotel is practically dead at 11pm

Review 132:It's location to the slopes and the friendliness of staff!! Breakfast was really good and the Onsen too!!

Review 133:Bathrooms are standard Japanese hotel ones - i.e. small and slightly dark. However, everywhere has pretty much the same.

Review 134:Liked everything. Especially onsen. Good ski equipment store. Very convenient for slopes. Room decor was nice Bar area was great and front desk staff very helpful. Breakfast offering was vast with choice between Japanese and Western and healthy options. Thought it compared highly to the more expensive hotel just down the road. I don't think you can go wrong with this hotel.

Review 135:Variable levels of customer service, some staff excellent but some down right unhelpful. The shuttle buses to surrounding area are unreliable and when they do arrive may not have sufficient room as Hilton guests have priority - pretty fundamental if like most people you want to enjoy Hirafu restaurants and bars!

Review 136:Great ski in ski out spot but a little out of Hirafu action. Room sizes and accommodation are quite good. Fantastic onsen facility.
