Reviews for Quality Hotel Emerald

Review 1:Carpark was full, our car got trapped in by a vehicle that was illegally parked. We had an elderly disabled relative with us, and it was a long distance to travel to the car park each time we needed to use it. Ramp at carparking exit door to hotel is too steep for length of wheelchair. No power to one side of room when we first checked in, so no fridge, kettle or TV service. Front desk staff not very helpful. Wedding at venue was very noisy and went on late

Review 2:Great location - easy walking distance to town and restaurants etc., good secure carparking

Review 3:That you have to use water from the bathroom basin to fill the jug.

Review 4:Location & view were A+.. Room was nice, however the bath room could have done with a scrub!

Review 5:Breakfast was greasy and not cooked of a high standard that I have had at qaulity inns elsewhere in country,

Review 6:I felt the staff presentation uniform didn't have high stAndard , there hospitality had a lot to be desired, no welcoming entering the door main door and restaurant, staff stayed in there seat while serving us no items to show they are proud to be in there jobs,

Review 7:It would be great to see more equipment in the gym. Some of the equipment was broken and the weights weren't heavy enough. Also, more fridge space not filled with mini bar product would have been good.

Review 8:Decent sized room with comfy bed and large modern kitchen. We were very happy staying there.

Review 9:Poor room service Restaurant was not open for breakfast and no one told us that it wasn't, went with out breakfast Poor mini bar

Review 10:Swimming pool Size of room Balcony deck Comfortable bed

Review 11:The impression my partner and I got from the receptionists was very ugly. They were snobby, uptight and rude.

Review 12:I loved the modern look of our room and the pool view.

Review 13:Quite a bit of walking to the room, limited signage and corridor to room a little soulless. I can see there has been some leakage water damage overhead on floor 3.

Review 14:Loved the spacious room, modern and clean. Checkin and out was easy and didn't take long.

Review 15:Hotel very tired and seems more like apartments with poorly repurposed rooms. No dining table with lounge furniture in dining area and additional queen bed in lounge area. No house bar or lounge for entertaining guests.

Review 16:Great staff, friendly, welcoming and helpful and an excellent chef. Definitely 4star or better staff.

Review 17:Good value for money city hotel. The room I had came with a view of the river, which was much appreciated. The gentlemen that checked me in was great. Explained the facilities to me and recommended a local restaurant for dinner as their restaurant was shut. The lady in checkout was very prompt and gave me access to their car park so I could leave my car there securely while I was out on business during the day.

Review 18:The bathroom had gunk around the shower door (by hinges) and water leaked everywhere so we had to use the towels to mop up . Only 2 face clothes wen 3 adults in room. Bathroom has mold in tiles

Review 19:Location. Balcony was great! Big apartment

Review 20:Very very slow Wifi, very limited Sky sports channels, no microwave, not enough fridge space for our own wine bottles.

Review 21:River side location, close to great pub called The Rivers, free car park space.

Review 22:Got locked outside at 3am as our key wouldn't read. Didn't get in the doors until 4am, was extremely stressful not knowing what to do. Rang help and after about 5 tries got an answer and was let in. Wifi did not connect

Review 23:We were disappointed with the restaurant. The meal was expensive for what it was and as we were the only people in the restaurant we felt as if we were being rushed and so we never went back!

Review 24:The comfortable king bed and the outlook over the river.

Review 25:Staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble. We had to stay an extra night as got caught up in "Pam" and 13 metre waves were expected along the coast line and driving through the gorge was going to be dangerous. They had already sorted out extra water and torches for all guests, after taking advice on our behalf from the Police and local Defence Group. i.e. Excellent response to situation.

Review 26:The noisy nightclub next door made it impossible to sleep until after 3am on our first night's stay. The hotel were aware of this problem and shouldn't have been using this particular room. (8312) We were moved to a quieter room for our second night with no problem. Hence the low location score.

Review 27:The balcony and the river view were lovely.

Review 28:Mould around bath. No wifi password given at check in. No pen in bedroom to write down password. Only one pass key. No handle on outside garage door.

Review 29:Bed very comfy

Review 30:Snackisfaction cafe food Greatwas very basic.

Review 31:Great weather, PBC cafe, Mariner restaurant, hotel, craft brewery and great friendly people with great entertainment at the local market.

Review 32:Wifi limit of 100mb is pretty poor, before having to pay for further data. My laptop downloaded some updates before I knew it was all gone!

Review 33:Clean room and decent facilities. Excellent location as it's right on the main street (to one end).

Review 34:the pillows were way to soft after 3 nights & ended up with a very sore neck. No other option to get a firmer pillow, as the currents ones basically give you little or no neck support at all. Free wifi 100mb is stuff all & basically gives you enough to check a few emails after this you have to pay. In this day in age you should be able to give unlimited internet included in your price.

Review 35:The size of the rooms & the view over looking the river

Review 36:Distance to elevators from car park. Not much self catering available (no microwave or toaster in room.

Review 37:Lovely balcony room overlooking the river. Very comfortable king bed. Good shower although over bath. Restaurant. Central to city.

Review 38:Only small prob but the car park is very tight and tricky but once use to it it's ok.

Review 39:I liked the customer service, specially the reception, the room was top stuff, the pool was nice and cool an te spa next to it was good to warm up after. And the food wasn't too bad either.

Review 40:didn't have a great pillow, but the bed was fine . only there one night tho , so im sure it could have been replaced if i was there longer .

Review 41:location, staff , food, views, all excellent. and the rooms are huge ! nice pool too . cheers !

Review 42:Lsignage not very clear bout where things were located example Got a bit lost looking for front desk as we entered from carpark

Review 43:River view smoking on belcony

Review 44:didnt think is was very good that out on our balcony there were some cigerette butts under the table and the plug in the bathroom sink was broken

Review 45:room was great, neat outdoor balcony over looking the pool, just a shame it was raining nice place to stay

Review 46:I found the staff helpful and obliging. Very impressed with the space and cleanliness of the suite I occupied. (Overlooking the pool.) Very quiet at night. Now that I appreciate!

Review 47:Shower head in bathroom quite noisy! Wifi often dropped out on this and previous visits.

Review 48:Great location - lots of restaurants in walking distance plus walking along river and out to beach. Staff were super friendly and helpful this visit (well improved from previous couple of visits). Eg. The friendly welcome at reception, helpful restaurant staff helping me order gluten free and dairy free options. Great to have pool and spa. Appreciated early breakfast room service on weekend as I had an early work commitment. On previous visit in 2014 this had been quite a problem.

Review 49:We struggled to find parking on the designated floor for the hotel. At no stage when we entered the hotel was that possible. Also the hotel in very 'maze' like. More signage please to indicate way to car park & reception.

Review 50:Rooms were excellent quality! Very clean & comfortable.

Review 51:The Bistro! From the hotel blurb I thougt this restaurant would be good. I should have taken a clue from the Chef's specials which included bacon and egg pie and fritters!!!! An Irish bar next door, Lone Star and Breakers nearby. Why oh why did I think this Bistro would be better? Two burnt dinners and fish that looked like it had been reheated from lunch time or earlier the meal was horrible. To try to compensate we ordered Tiramasu and we got s rather poor sponge cake with ice cream. Great hotel to stay in but do yourself a favour and eat elsewhere.

Review 52:The staff and facilities were really good. Everything was as good if not better than you would expect for a hotel in this category.

Review 53:Hotel was dated, like a rabbit warren. Two single beds pressed together is not the same as a king bed. Beds were also hard and uncomfortable to sleep on

Review 54:Service was good, very kind and helpful staff. Room was big, very clean. Nice bathroom. We booked because there weren't many good options in Gisborne. Felt like this was the best of the bad bunch.

Review 55:Hotel was hosting a private party on our arrival which was very loud and all amenities where closed to guests. As it was new years eve and new years day on our stay the hotel restaurant was closed. During the fireworks display across the road the hotels carpark was gatecrashed by people climbing the walls and letting other vehicles in to obtain views. Not very good management.

Review 56:Size of room was good. Bed and Pillows OK. Location OK.

Review 57:the estuary the closes for breakfast at 9 am which we found a little weird. There are however a couple of cafes pretty close.

Review 58:liked the location convenient to shops and the friendly helpful staff. Also had a beautiful swimming pool and the room was much larger than we were expecting with a nice balcony and outside table. Parking was also secure and convenient, air con nice and quiet and free internet is always great.

Review 59:Small swimming pool was alluring but rarely seemed to be used, which I suggest is because that it is not heated.

Review 60:Very friendly and helpful reception staff.

Review 61:That there was no decent sized couch in the room we stayed in. 8202. It was barely big enough for two adults to relax on. Maybe if you weren't going to be spending a lot of time relaxing in the room it may have been okay, but i ended up on the couch and my partner lay on the floor. That was a bit silly.

Review 62:My favourite thing was that the bed was absolutely amazing to sleep in. I had the best sleep in! The balcony was big and covered so that we could still sit outside when it rained. The food at Nick's grill was fantastic.

Review 63:Cleanliness wasn't what it should be. Shower had marks on floor of shower and marks on tiles. For $170 I expected more

Review 64:Nice big room overlooking main street. Good staff

Review 65:10% credit card surcharge. They get their money upfront, card companies charge 2.5 to 3% so where did the 10% come from. Retailers wear the charge why not the Hotel! Its money grabbing. As a company we would always pay with credit card full stop!. Backward Hotel in a Backward town!

Review 66:Great Hotel, modern rooms with excellent facilities

Review 67:We couldn't find where to adjust the air conditioning. There was only 1 small rubbish bin. Next time I would ask to not have the bar etc. The shield on the bath was a danger if you accidentally leaned in it, one had to be very careful getting in & out of the bath as it was higher than normal, I feel a curtain would suffice.

Review 68:On the whole our stay was pleasant, the weather was good so we were able to sit out on the deck. Comfortable bed & there was tea, milk & coffee in the room. Roomy.

Review 69:No robes in rooms. Expected some freebies for the price we paid. I had kids an there was only one hot chocolate satchet. Our room had this humming noise all night possibly the air con.

Review 70:Enjoyed the pool area. Parking great. Availability of the reastaurant is appealing.

Review 71:Street scene was a bit noisy during the night. Lots of "characters" out and about. Not the hotel's fault.

Review 72:We were given a beautiful suite overlooking the river. Very comfortable and well furnished. Impressive hotel! Wish we could have stayed longer.

Review 73:We had issues with getting our luggage to the room due to our vehicle being unable to utilize the adjoining parking due to its height. When the staff became aware of this there was not much effort made in helping with overcoming this problem.

Review 74:Great outlook, modern, clean room and facilities. Centrally located.

Review 75:Was disappointing that the restaurant/in-room service closed just before 8:30pm. This is not advertised or stated on the hotel information which makes it difficult for late travellers to get a meal.

Review 76:The staff were friendly and the room was clean with a lot of space.

Review 77:What needs improvement. More signage around the corridors. Maybe colour coding. Each trip to reception was a new way. I once did a whole circuit. Meals offered in house. A quality vegetarian option needs to be considered and if they want it to be patronised, then they need to make it more appealing than other restaurants in town.

Review 78:The Manager was really friendly. The morning receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The balcony with the room. The settees. The second bedroom.

Review 79:Little dissapointed in resteraunt meal. waitress excellent. very apologetic for burnt pudding. Would hav liked the chef to front up with apology. otherwise good service.

Review 80:Very helpful in moving us due to heating system down in our room.

Review 81:Rude receptionist, she had a personal grudge against one of my guests and refused to let her in. Stated that I had "too many visitors" and couldn't have anymore. She stated there are only 6 visitors allowed in a room at a time..no documentation of this is in hotel policy. I was utterly unimpressed with the rude receptionist, accusing me of having a party and lying saying that other guest had complained that my room had loud music playing. Which we did not. I will not be wasting my money here again. That girl needs to be fired.

Review 82:Clean

Review 84:The pillows were extremely hard

Review 85:Great location, beautiful room, great value for money and friendly efficient staff.

Review 86:Still a problem with slippery tiles in bathroom

Review 88:They tried but this facility is fairly empty with no atmosphere and the whole experience lacked any polish.

Review 89:Location is pretty good.

Review 90:Parking. Limited number of spaces available.

Review 91:Very spacious room & bathroom. Beautiful pool area.

Review 92:The rain that made the pool area shut but we fully understood H&S reasonin
