Reviews for Ichinoyu Shinkan
Review 1:-Very Japanese style, there is no elevator, good thing is the hotel only have 3 stories so you won't suffer much with the luggages. -Location is good but it's on a hill, so we took a cab when arriving to carry with our luggages to the hotel it only cost ~700yen (5mins).
Review 2:-Nice view from the private onsen. -Clean room with unique Japanese style room design, very comfortable bed. The Japanese hot pot dinner is delicious with very nice and helpful staff. -In house souvenir store provide large selection of stuffs with fair price. -Hotel is located next stop to the Hakone Yumoto station where very easy for you to start a day's trip in Hakone.
Review 3:not enough English direction/location of the hotel for bus/train travellers. the hotel is located at the top of a very steep stairs which looks like they are for a private use of local houses.
Review 4:the Onsen was a great experience, the food was traditional but a great experience to have. the hot natural spring was very relaxing. the room and the staff were great
Review 5:The meals prepared (breakfast and dinner) were absolutely delicious. We stayed for 2 nights and the hosts prepared different variety of meals every time! We had the hot sauna in our room which made it even more better so we don't have to use the public onsen.
Review 6:Hotel very close to train station but all the way is staircase and the staircase to hotel is very hard to find at night.
Review 7:Big family room with hot spring and nice breakfast. Very enjoy to staying there !!
Review 8:The room and the private onsen was really great, this is my first time in Hakone, and I really regret that I should have planned for a longer time here. Everything is so good here, the room, the breakfast (the portion is so big, I only managed to eat half it), and the private onsen in my room. The best part is sitting inside onsen and look out of the window and enjoy the natural here.
Review 9:Although there are stairs and slope up down the hotel to train station, to me with 2x 20kg luggage still manageable. If going to hotel at night, recommend taxi from Hakone Yumoto station, take only 5 min.
Review 10:Big room, nice breakfast, great dinner and good onsen. Overall very satisfied and value for money.
Review 11:The location is on high hill and its a little complicated to go with suitcases so it is better to take a taxi from the train station, but coming and going without them is fine.
Review 12:.The traditional room with open air bath. We took dinner. Dinner was delicious
Review 13:Hotel should warn guests that the location is on a small hill and requires some climbing. This is not a problem for the young and healthy but can be a problem for those with heavy luggage.
Review 14:Wonderful outdoor private bathroom. Room is clean, airy with high ceilings.
Review 15:Cleanliness. Location. The onsen is located at the top of the hill. If you don't have a car, be ready to do some cardio.
Review 16:Staff are super friendly. All you can drink during meal (soft drink, juice, tea, beer and sake).
Review 17:The only road accessing the hotel has a slope of 21 degree. Needless to say it was VERY painful to walk up the road, even without luggage. There is a shuttle, but it only serves the hotel next to Ichinoyu. It will be nice if the outdoor hotspring area has a shower head. That will make cleaning body much easier. Wifi is virtually non-existent. If luck is with you, you will have it.
Review 18:The semi outdoor hotspring was great. We have three peoples, yet the room is still spacious and love sleeping on tatami!
Review 19:Breakfast was amazing and the in room hot spring was exactly what I want after a Fuji climb. It was drizzling just outside the window as I soak in the tub. Couldn't be better!!
Review 20:The location is close to the hakone yumoto station--only a twenty minute walk, but it is up a pretty steep road. It's doable, just plan accordingly. The baths are separated by gender, (which is common I think, unless you go to the kind of place where you reserve a time slot or have private baths).
Review 21:The meals at this place were phenomenal. If you stay here, it's worth buying the half board option, as both dinner and breakfast were delicious, huge, Japanese feasts. The public bath was clean, and comfortable, as was our room. We only stayed one night, but were able to use the bath the next day (our check out day) after our hike, which was really nice.
Review 22:Balcony Onsen Bath was a fantastic experience. Breakfast was wonderful. Information supplied in English in the in-room information guide and at breakfast was excellent.
Review 23:It is easy to locate the hotel and is clean. They serve really nice food too. However, it is not advisable to go with huge luggage unless you take a taxi there from hakoneyummoto station.
Review 24:location is bad, I booked it by mistake, was intend to book the Ichinoyu (old) , where is located at base of the mountain. so one has the option to ride to the train station in the mountain , go down the slope to the hotel at the base, and when go back walk to Hakone Yomoto station which is also downward at the base. Instead we booked the new Ichinoyu , which way up in the mountain , access by taxi only if you have luggage.
Review 25:both indoor and outdoor onsen, no closing hours. not sure if they have private onsen but since we went during off season in June, the public onsen has no one in it, dressing room has foot massager and skin care products. had good onsen experience here.
Review 26:the meals were slightly pricey but its my first time staying at ryokan; didn't know the meals were not included in the room price. otherwise, it's good;
Review 27:the food was good, surrounding was very quiet and really relaxing
Review 28:There were a couple bugs, but it's to be expected considering it's pretty outdoors.
Review 29:This was the best part of our Hakone journey. The food was exactly what we needed, both dinner and breakfast. There's not enough words to talk about how fantastic the food and service was. Allowed us to drop off our bags before the regular check-in time.
Review 30:1. Not accessible. No shuttle bus from train station (though it is not far from the Hakone Yumoto station but the hill is very steep to walk)
Review 31:1. Breakfast and dinner are delicious! 2. Staff are friendly 3. Private Onsen!
Review 32:Getting to the hotel could be tricky, but we followed the advice given at the time of booking, which was trouble-free. Having the private onsen as the only bathing facilities for the room could prove inconvenient if staying for more than just a few nights.
Review 33:We stayed in a spacious traditional room with private onsen on the balcony, which was great. The food was excellent and the the written and verbal explanations for non-Japanese visitors were really helpful
Review 34:Everything was great.
Review 35:very value for money, short distance from the station, very good food and considerate service. Clean, comfortable and everything we possibly needed was provided. Will definitely stay here again.
Review 36:Just a tiny one, location are not accessible with train, bus, or even walking. But this is not a big issue since riding a taxi is less than 5minutes and cost less than 900yen from Hakone-Yumoto station.
Review 37:Fantastic dinner and breakfast from half-board option. Very helpful staff with enough understandable English. Must try public bath (onsen), interesting experience. English-friendly hotel with all information of everything (from using the onsen to very detailed dinner and breakfast menu) are also in English.
Review 38:Bath tub in the room is small than expectation. Access path to the hotel. Actually it is not too difficult to walk, but the hotel give very little information on the way. I suggest the hotel to put more information about how to access from the train station.
Review 39:Location is ok
Review 40:- The Wi-Fi only worked in the restaurant, and even there it was fickle. - This ryokan is quite close to the Tonosawa station, but unfortunately there are no arrows to/from the hotel in alphabetic characters.
Review 41:The private outside onsen was lovely.
Review 42:The location is terrible. To be fair, they mention the hill on the website. From the station it's a 15-20 minute walk up a steep, steep hill. Walking back at night there are no lights, we had to use our phones. There was a random shuttle bus that stopped as we were climbing the hill. The driver insisted we get on and he brought us to our hotel (Japanese people are very kind and considerate). I'm not sure what the shuttle was for; the hotel staff should explain to guests if there is a free shuttle. The onsen is small and basic. If I had gone there specifically for the onsen, I would have been disappointed. The doors to the rooms open outside onto an un-enclosed hallway. Bugs can get in. You can hear the train passing while inside the room.
Review 43:The room was a good size, the staff's explanations were clear if impersonal, the onsen was small but clean, the overall atmosphere was safe, clean, and comfortable. The breakfast is large but very Japanese.
Review 44:The sign for showing the hotel location was not clear. For the lst-time travellers, they may be confused and went to the wrong direction. There were little uphill and downhill roads on the way to the hotel, after the nearest station.
Review 45:The air-conditioner and beddings were new. The room was tidy and comfortable. The private hotspring bath tub was good.
Review 46:Service
Review 47:transport from hakone yumoto is difficult. but you can take the tozan train to tanosawa station to make easier of your trip
Review 48:everything is very good
Review 49:Staffs were friendly and service was good
Review 50:no public transport near hotel, not easy to walk up the hill from the station
Review 51:Hot bath Breakfast and dinner
Review 52:The staff was very helpful in trying to make us feel comfortable even though we were only staying for a night. Great service!
Review 53:Haven't found any bad thing.
Review 54:Nicely located and super quiet. Provide excellent food.
Review 55:The whole experience. Loved the hot tub and fascinating foods. The hill mentioned in other reviews was no problem at all.
Review 56:No shuttle bus from the train station. Hard to find out the exact location unless by taxi
Review 57:Yummy Meals and the private Spring bath
Review 58:A bit difficult to find
Review 59:The private onsen is excellent!
Review 60:you need to climb a mountain to get to the hotel but it definitely worthy
Review 61:The hot spring it fantastic!
Review 62:private hot spring
Review 63:The meals were very generous and rooms clean and comfortable
Review 64:-
Review 65:Delicious food, good private onsen,I could sleep well on comfortable Jaoanese style bed.
Review 66:Breakfast only Japanese food, no variety
Review 67:Good location, private bath very good
Review 68:private onsen
Review 69:The private hot spring tub in the room was great and loved the casual kimono provided.
Review 70:Really enjoyed the private hot spring bath in our room.
Review 71:The ryokan althought quite conveniently located near the train station was up a steep slope. We carried heavy luggages and found it quite difficult to walk up the hill.
Review 72:The staff here was very polite and we found it easy to communicate. The room was quite spacious for japanese standards and was very clean. What really impressed me most was the japanese dinner & breakfast we pre-booked in advance. It was absolutely delicious and well worth our money. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this ryokan and would recommend it to anyone.
Review 73:Wifi was available but didn't work, and the location was a bit annoying to get to (unless you sneak onto the hot springs bus).
Review 74:It was nice and the staff were helpful and friendly (even organised a few things for us).
Review 75:Accessibility to the hotel is somewhat difficult. We took the tozan train for only one station (stopped at Tonosawa station) and had to climb very steep stairs with luggages and baby strollers. However, We later found out that there is basically a free shuttle service from Hakone Yumoto station. Could be our mistake not to know or maybe the staff at the hotel did not inform us. There is no lift at the hotel. not that I do not like that but just for readers to be aware of that. Somewhat a bit expensive but well worthed if you think hat you have to possibility to have your own private onsen.
Review 76:The scenery around the place is fantastic. The atmosphere is very relaxing. We did book a room on the second floor (room 306) which was a traditional japanese room with its own private onsen. Needless to say, the private onsen was just an awesome experience. The breakfast was very good. We appreciated the staff who tried to help us despite having a poor command of english. Will definitely come back to this place if I have the chance.
Review 77:Private bath means bath tub without a shower head, so I had to shower at the public onsen area. The receiving hotel representative was a little standoffish.
Review 78:Had all to myself a private bath tub filled close to the brim with water from the onsen. Quaint room that offers the a fusion of 2 cultures with the thickness of a western style mattress, and for the most part, Japanese furnishings.
Review 79:Backpackers carry luggage to the hotel, the mountain road is not easy, although there are steps.
Review 80:all the staff are very friendly, I like the dinner and breakfast, Great~ a warm comfortable room.
Review 81:Wifi in the room would have been nice . . .
Review 82:Loved the private onsen bath, and breakfast was great.
Review 83:No wifi in room.
Review 84:Private onsen, cleanliness, secluded but not far away from public transport.
Review 85:Calm relaxing feeling there
Review 86:The private onsen in my room. The mic
Review 87:Small thing but wifi didn't work in the room
Review 88:The room, the food, the bath, the location, the view
Review 89:table cloth, cushion staining, dirty, room dusty
Review 90:to experience Japanese style room facilities
