Reviews for Venice Hotel Villa Dori
Review 1:This seemed to be run by a family comprising of a couple and an old woman. The old woman was sweet but the lady seemed uninterested in helping us in any way. She appeared terse and cold. The room was cold and very dark. We were the only ones staying there and there was no effort taken to offer us breakfast. Finally the location... Incredibly far from Venice. One could have got better rooms for the same price in Venice proper.
Review 2:The room.was spacious
Review 3:Pictures in booking has nothing in common with the real hotels rooms. May be they have looked like this 50 years ago. They offer us ugly and dirty room with white walls, dirty blanket over the bed. when i go down to the reception and ask for the room we have booked in booking they sad... "We are not Sheraton, What do you whant for 50 Euro?" When i ask my money back to change the hotel, receptionist sad: "No way". Next day when we left the hotel, i received email, that they cancel my reservation. Probably afraid that they will have negative feedback. I am sorry but i forgot to take pictures...
Review 4:Nothnig.
Review 5:The staff, except our receptionist Tamara, were not very good with English.
Review 6:Our receptionist, Tamara, was very friendly, spoke very good English, and took care of everything. Our chauffeur was also kind and friendly. Transportation from the hotel to Venice and back was very fluent.
Review 7:The directions on the website to the hotel were incorrect, and so my friend and I were waiting for a bus that never showed up and had to get a taxi. I complained to two different receptionists who both said there was nothing they could do. One of which admitted that the directions were wrong because of changes which occurred LAST YEAR and that the website had not yet been updated. She said that we would have known the change in directions if we had called, this was shocking as the directions should have been correct and we shouldn't have needed to call. She refused to compensate us for the price of the taxi. The hotel is not in Venice but in Mestre. The tv remote in the room did not have batteries in it so we couldn't change the language on the tv and we were told there was wifi in the room when there wasn't. Very disappointing.
Review 8:No costumer service at all, wifi didn't work and whenever we asked for someone to have a look at it. They were very rude, no food during the day nor drinks. No shop around the location unless you take a taxi or bus. No facilities within the hotel apart from a bar. Not much choice for breakfast
Review 9:Only each others company
Review 10:The room was at the end of the hotel. The outside door was locking not well. There were workers living in the room next to ours. Our room smelled awfull.
Review 11:5 of our 6 devices (smartphones/apples/notebooks) could never connect, and the one which did could not stay connected. The only drawback of having those solid walls affected the wifi signal, I suppose?
Review 12:very solid typical Italian villa, very comfortable for the hot day we stayed. Hotel has it's own dedicated shuttle service, which for 4 adults was only E22 return for the day on Venice.
Review 13:family room very poor not enough light and space no light in corridor shower cabin not enough light. kids beds not very nice (metal construction).no facilities to make tea or coffee in the room.
Review 14:restaurant ,bar area very nice
Review 15:the hotel was not good cleaned e.g. spiderwebs were on the cielings and we found ants as well . wifi was terriably bad. there was barely a wifi in the room
Review 16:free parking which is a good thing in Italy the shuttle bus ( 3 euros per person oneway) was a good idea it saves you the parking fees and the hassle of finding a park, Air conditioning was good. room size was good
Review 17:Morning lady was very rude in helpful and unaccomidating. Food was super expensive. Nickled and dimed wherever they could
Review 18:Food tasted good. Bed was super comfy. Evening counter lady was very helpful.
Review 19:The room is too dark and old. It's little small for a quad room.
Review 20:The restaurant attached to the hotel has a good beer a nice pizza for a reasonable price. Very close to Venice. Free parking inside the hotel (not many spots)
Review 21:Inabillity to get staff to communicate with Bathroom Lack of toilet paper and staff to adress the issue with When implicated that the staff can communicate in English and it is not true, it puts a bad taste to your stay
Review 22:Price
Review 23:we booked villa dori because they had a restaraunt and bar.so that after a day in venice we would be able to use these facilities, but on arrival they told us these were not open as they were being refurbished, could have let us know when booking.
Review 24:they were very accomadating when we asked for a different room, and they did not charge us for upgrade. lovely staff
Review 25:Location of the hotel, they didnt explain us very well how to get to The hotel...
Review 26:Hotel's shuttle bus service- you don' t have to worry how to get to Venice and return to the hotel. Receptionist(Támara)was very friendly and helpful. Clean and spacious room.
Review 27:Unfortunately the restaurant and bar remained closed during our 3 night stay and we had to drive 10 minutes but found a really good restaurant/pizzaria. No tea/coffee facilities in the rooms.
Review 28:Nice faded baroque style in a quiet suburb Comfortable beds Clean bathrooms Efficient staff who spoke English Great value and choice at breakfast Hotel Shuttle bus available direct to Venice
Review 29:Seems like no one cares about your rest there - at 2 am fire alarm went on few times which made the next day stressy at the beginning. Staff did nothing only saying that they do not care - no discount or free drink to calm down their clients who lost the sleep. There is a shuttle bus organized for 3 euro per person which you need to book in advance, but it is non refundable. When you miss it at 21.30 - get ready to go back by bus for 20-30mins or pay taxi 50 euro from Venice. Funny, that on hotel print outs with directions it is said that you can get money back for the shuttle bus if you tell two hours in advance, but "nice" staff members claimed the opposite, fighting about some 6 euro! Best part when we returned from Venice after midnight and found our key laying directly at the reception desk with no staff around. Anyone could come and pick it and steal our stuff while they were enjoying their dreams. Will never get back there and better pay extra 100euro to stay in centar Venice or any other hotel with big name and respect to clients.
Review 30:Yes, hotel is cheap if you can not afford staying in Venice itself and you might have more luck in it than we did, but we experienced some "nice" things there
Review 31:Little difficult to find. The street where the hotel is located is very long and actually part of two different suburbs of Venice. It will be good to place a sign with the name of the hotel as the main entrance is not looking towards Via Colombara, as it is stated here!
Review 32:The hotel is good. Everything was nice and clean. Good wi-fi signal!
Review 33:The scam starts with the web site that doesnt match the reallity whenyou arrive on sight. It goes one with the fact that they declare the same"DELUXE"SINGLE and double rooms,as a triple and"DELUXE" quadruple rooms(for 4persons) and when you arrive youget the same dusty and dirty room that you get as a double room but onlywith 2 terrible metal beds added on 2 floors-levels in the same singleor double room room. We booked deluxe quadruple room with extra bed, andwe got the same single-double room with 3 aditional metal beds added inthat room.TOTAL Scam!!! Knowing that we,ll discover the scam onarrivall, they precharded our credit card 6 days before our arrival, whichis complitely against booking.com policy. We didnt know what expects usbefore checking in,but after going up the room and going back toreception to ask for explanition ,the staff was arguing that that is howit is everywhere in Italy when you book for 5 persons, and there is noother solution or free room,so we have to accept it since they havealready precharged our credit card. There was a blond girl behavingterrible and the manager escaped on our arrival, knowing what willfollow. After one hour of arguing and waiting for a solution andapropried accomodation, they said that the hotel is full and we have toaccept that for the night, we decide to leave the place and presscharges against them in bouth to Italian autorities and troughbooking.com.Than they agreed to give us back turistic tax that we paidon site and promissed to give back the money they charged on ouraccount, in latest 7 days.We left the place ,but the money are still notrefunded, which of course will not happened since that is the purpose ofthe whole scam. This is the worst hotel experiance ever, and as a regularuser of booking .com ,I suggest that they should really get rid of suchplaces and start to investige such scams, before loosing their image andrealibility
Review 34:There is absolitely nothing to like in that place, starting from the badlocation ,rude staff behavior ,smell of dust and moisture, finishing withunautorized prearivall withdrawal from your credit card in order to beforced to stay in unapropried accomodation of 5 beds in single room of18m2 including bathroom and antechember, all together
Review 35:- chamber walls were in an advanced state of decay; - staff improperly used language for a hotel, thinking that we are not speaking and understanding Italian; - in the evening a ba smell from a pig farm near by (or their own) - very dirty bathroom; - bed linen in a fairly advanced stage of decay; better to avoid this hotel
Review 36:location, 10 min driving to venice
Review 37:The mouldy, non-aired, stuffy smell in the room was horrendous! No windows, skylight broken, air con very noisy
Review 38:Decor, although it seemed quite shabby after a closer look
Review 39:Customer service is terrible, the blonde one is incredibly rude andfrankly she needs to be sacked. When I asked to speak to a manager, there was no manager present. No security. No safe, one of my suitcasekeys went missing [!!!!!] searched our room couldn't find it. Bedwas not comfortable, kept separating when we slept. You could walk inand out of the hotel at night as you pleased. Only had a trampolineoutside in which the owners were always using, no time for guests touse. Had a bit of an issue with payment, blonde one charged me twice andhasn't refunded me yet [bank refunded me]. Watch out - blonde onescams people.
Review 40:Tamara is an angel. She is the only thing good about Villa Dori, and theold lady that was serving breakfast too, breakfast was lovely!
Review 41:Only small lamps in room, to dark. Cold in winter. Shower was warm, not hot. To expencive.
Review 42:Location is so far away from anywhere.Breakfast was at best o.k.
Review 43:Not really comfortable. Doesn't look like on the pictures.
Review 44:Responsive staff
Review 45:Terrible place!!!
Review 46:It's not in Venice but they offer you transport to Piazza Rome and back(verry funny driver!!!). Really friendly stuff!
Review 47:Bed bugs and mosquitoes!
Review 48:There are air conditioners in the rooms.
Review 49:Very dirty rooms ,the staff was very rude.We booked a room and we end upwith a different rooom.

Review 54:Free wifi didn't wirk
Review 55:Enjoyed the food & staff
Review 56:Came there and it looked like a prison...everyrhing was closed and no one was there complete trash
Review 57:Nothing
Review 58:no bar available.not infomed that renevations were taking place
Review 59:Hidden fees
Review 60:Clean of rooms. Breakfast not good
Review 61:The bus from the hotel to Venezia only for 6€ two way.
Review 62:A very long list
Review 63:WiFi, Free Parking
Review 64:Nice interior design Felt like in a noble castle Nice location Relaxed place
Review 65:The breakfast was really bad
Review 66:Location
Review 67:Long lists
Review 68:There is nothing that we liked about this hotel.....
Review 69:Own shuttle service to Venice.
Review 70:Angry receptionist, spooky hotel and awful breakfast
Review 71:Okay room
Review 72:Extremely unfriendly and rude staff
Review 73:A few things about cleaning but not a big deal.
Review 74:Friendly staff, special thanks to Tamara, who explained everything about Venice in detail.
Review 75:Some guy behind the reception desk watched porn stuff....... and we could see it in the mirror it was a bit disturbing.
Review 76:It´s really not THAT BAD. We stayed one night and it was okay. It´s not the cleanest but it´s also not dirty. The old lady at the reception is gone - there are some young ladies who speak good english.
Review 77:Far away from the city and public transport, you had to pay extra for the shuttle to the city. The room was very small and internet did not work. We were there for 5 nights and sheets were not even once changed. Location was hard to find even with gps.
Review 78:free shuttle nach venice ???? English breakfast ??? Customer service .. Location (hard to find) To pay for security 8euro , when there was none , in the night you could rob` the hotel , keys were just laying on the reception , woman was sleeping .... No safe in the rooms No covers for sleeping , was cold.
Review 79:Das wetter , Die alte frau die dort arbeitet
Review 80:Finding the hotel was next to impossible for us. We programmed the gpswith the address from the booking site but apparently that address haschanged. I made several phone calls to the hotel - all at hugeinternational roaming rates - and then discovered the address issue. Thegirl confirmed on arrival that the address on the booking site needed tobe changed. The rooms were clean but the bathroom lacked sufficientlinen - only a bath towel each - no hand towels or bath mat. We had touse the bidet towels for this. Also, no lift in our section or anyone toassist with luggage. We had to drag heavy bags up a lot of steps - ouroldest travelling companion is 70 yo and we had to do his bag - we areon the road for 3 months so have a large bag each
Review 81:The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and spoke quite goodenglish. The hotel was in a very quiet area close to the autostrada. Ithad a shuttle bus that went into Venice.
Review 82:This was a good value , clean comfortable hotel, The decor is veryartistic, and work is still in progress, but the quality of the fixturesand fittings is not great. The shower room was spacious and very clean. It was some distance from Venice itself, however it had free parking andwas relaxing after a hectic day. We arrived at 9pm and the restuarantand bar was closed, though we were able to buy some bottles of wine (thered was okay , the white was like vinegar).
Review 83:Staff tried to be helpful but receptionist have far too much work forone person and sometimes you have to wait forever to ask her forsomething. No electric kettles in rooms but you can ask staff for hotwater. Very far from Venice itself but for 3 euro they have bus toPiazzale Roma.
Review 84:Clean and comfortable.
Review 85:One of the hostesses was a little rude but it was not serious and never repeated. I think breakfast should be added to the rate it would be more attractive that way as it may get the customer free of calculating the whole stay costs.
Review 86:Even when location may you think is not the best, the 3 euros shuttle to Venice made it pretty convenient. Rooms where cute and very clean. The fridge provided and safe provided did not worked properly but is a minor issue. The breakfast was a pretty good one indeed for 6 euros. Me and my family had a very enjoyable stay near Venice without having to pay he overpriced rates of downtown especially if travelling by car. We were close enough from venice and the beaches so villa dori was a very good choice to enjoy both.
Review 87:Difficult to find by the map.
Review 88:We always enjoy that little nice and beautifull hotel. Everything islovely. The breakfast for the price of 6 Euro is very, very wonderfull!!The furniture is so well designed. We will come back!
Review 89:It looked like a hostel, though it looks classy on photos - a hugeoverpromice. I think there was a riot in our room, and it was a familyroom!!!! Very dissapointed!!!
Review 90:The only one thing I can mention that there was no wardrobe in our roomat all! It was a very nice looking room, but have had difficulties toput some clothes, etc. in a useful place. This was the only one problem,if I can call this so.
Review 91:Hotel Villa Dori is an excellent Hotel, very nice staff, nice andclean rooms and it is easy to get the bus to Venice and also otherlovely places, F.E. the nice city of Padova! We enjoyed our stay verymuch and it is the second time, we stay in this Hotel and always verysatisfy! Bravo!
Review 92:Good for the money, good connection to venice by bus (10-15 minutes walk+30 by bus), has free-parking for those who travel by car and will receive good info at front desk in english.
Review 93:No food included, poor acces, lack of nearby direct transport to town, strange outfit of rooms.
Review 94:Quite nice and tidy hotel in a quiet suburbs of Venice.
Review 95:The day that we were leaving, we wanted to have a cup of tea atleast, give us boiling water and cups as we had our tea/sugar and milk. Therewas not one available at reception
Review 96:Shuttle service to the town and venice , fetch and drop
Review 97:Total dissatisfaction. The room did not work heating, bathroom was musty, dingy room, wall coverings were dirty and the ceiling was moldy. Reluctance of staff to solve anything, would not give a discount.
Review 98:Nothing.
Review 99:Friendly staff good location
Review 100:EVERYTHING, this place should be shut down.
Review 101:NOTHING. TERRIBLE. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE.
Review 102:Wi fi available in the rooms. Less of a smoke filled reception area in the morning from smokers outside the front door.
Review 103:A lot of noise in the night. We could not sleep.
Review 104:Noisy owners, wifi only worked in the noisy reception.
Review 105:Large bed, helpful afternoon receptionist
Review 106:Guest services like transport were not handled adequately. Shuttle service bad.
Review 107:The rooms were very nice. Breakfast was good.
