Reviews for Gora Hanaougi Sounkaku
Review 1:It would have been nice to have some kind of a view from the outdoor onsen. I love modern Japanese food, but not all of the traditional Japanese food served here sat well with me. This really isn't their fault, but it prevents me from saying the food was purely amazing. I loved about half of the dishes.
Review 2:The staff was amazing and attentive. The room was huge and beautiful, with a great view of the mountainside from the balcony (when it wasn't too foggy). The onsens' were beautiful and relaxing, with plenty of well stocked washing stations, eliminating the need to revisit our room afterwards.
Review 3:The food was really disappointed. I was in other ryokan the day before and unfortunately I had to compare and it was really low over my expectations. Breakfast remind me a chinesse restaurant where the serve you all the food and they just want you to finish and leave. Worst thing no explanation whatsoever about what you were eating.
Review 4:It is good located if you wanna go to the Ashi lake. Osen is decent.
Review 5:wifi only available in lobby. but we are here for hot spring so nothing matters.
Review 6:I am a big fan of hot spring, excellent spring experience especially the outside springs. All my dream comes true. Nice staffs and great food. the most comfortable lobby ever with big window with a beautiful garden view, the traditional fireplace in lobby is like the old Japanese movies.
Review 7:Pillow was too hard for me.
Review 8:Great location, amazing service, great food full of surprises! Highly recommended. We paid almost double the price in another ryokan in kyoto n this experience was far better. Lovely onsen. Thanks Mina for the wonderful service you gave us!
Review 9:I booked the private bath and found it way too hot for my liking. The public one was more comfortable. Didn't expect I had to pay for the private bath as it was not clearly indicated to me. Wasn't cheap. The price I paid for the ryokan was already not very cheap.
Review 10:Amazing ryokan that provides a most authentic of Japanese experiences. Staff were very very friendly and helpful. Service was above excellent and the room was amazing. My room had a great view of the mountains and the bath was very good too.
Review 11:Weird shower - in it's own room, private onsen costs extra, staff can't answer basic questions in English
Review 12:Decent sized room, nice view, great location in the mountains, decent food
Review 13:Overpriced and didn't particularly enjoy the food served - could be personal preference. Am surprised they charge extra to use the private onsen considering how much the rooms cost already
Review 14:I wish the outdoor onsen was truly outdoors, instead of covered up like it was. Also although the private dining rooms were nice, I wish they served meals in our own rooms. if not dinner (since it's multi-course), at least breakfast. The dining rooms were extrememly warm and uncomfortable.
Review 15:location is excellent when you get off the sounzau exit on the cable car. Very easy to find.
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:Friendly staff, surprise dinner, comfortable service. A well trained staff drived us to train station for free due to the stop of public transportion cause by Typhoon.
Review 18:Watch out if you have a tattoo - you're not allowed to join the bath facilities (you gotta book a private one @ 2160 yen / 45 minute. This applies to Japan as a hole (not only this property or city) due to the Yakuza mafia.
Review 19:Amazing experience. Super qualified staff. Out of this planet food. A must when staying @ Gora.
Review 20:No wifi in rooms.
Review 21:Food is very good.
Review 22:Nice people nice place nice food! Service is pretty good. Location is great! Got beautiful memories here. Will bring my families next time.
Review 23:w/o free wifi in the room
Review 24:Dinner Friendly staff
Review 25:No wifi.
Review 26:Great place to relax and experience traditional japanese meal, sleep, bathing and more.
Review 27:The food and the dining facility. Not impressed with using a wooden chopstick.
Review 28:The location, onsen...
Review 29:There is non.
Review 30:The good location and the private room hot spring!
Review 31:Japanese hospitality; breakfast and kaiseki dinner; location is near the cable car and tram
Review 32:The pillows were pretty thin for my western head. With just two upright wooden chairs in the rooms there was no place to relax, but the lobby seating was very comfortable.
Review 33:It was our first ryokan experience. The staff was excellent and the food was great! The futons were more comfortable than I expected. I loved the outdoor onsen.
Review 34:I felt pampered and relaxed from the moment I stepped off the train. Excellent service, friendly staff and amazing food! It was my first ryokan stay and onsen experience and I can't imagine a better first time. I stayed one night and would be happy to return. It's expensive but a wonderful traditional Japanese experience. Also in a very convenient location, it's extremely close to the train and the ropeway to catch a glimpse of Mt Fuji!
Review 35:Despite what people say about futons, they are not very comfortable and neither are Japanese rice husk pillows, which are super hard. Futons are also not very big so if you're much over 6', your feet will be on the floor. I anticipated this, which is why we only stayed one night, and then moved to a hotel with a Western mattress.
Review 36:The dinner was the highlight for us. Served in a lovely little private dining, very special and something we'll remember for a long time. The onsen were also very nice, especially the outside areas. Our hostess was brilliant and despite her speaking only very basic English we somehow managed to communicate very well.
Review 37:Nothing to dislike
Review 38:Morning view over the hills from the room The welcome and atmosphere Outdoor bathing Quality of service and friendliness Food, especially the breakfast Location, just across the car park from the start of the cable car
Review 39:Carrying heavy luggage on way to hotel if using public transport can be painful, however the best things are worth a little pain and this in no way should be a deterrent.
Review 40:Staff were fabulous - thoughtful, gracious and so happy to have us stay with them. Onsen was lovely and a wonderful experience. Food was spectacular. Cannot recommend staying here enough.
Review 41:public space is a little bit small, and the chairs in the public bath need to be cleaned more often.
Review 42:great location, and the service was very sweet and nice!! We enjoy their traditional food and the privacy in the dining area.
Review 43:Breakfast better have bread and coffee, fish is too heavy for morning
Review 44:The food and services is amazing! The manager is so professional and impressive! Cannot forget the fortune white and black cat named "Migi" raised by the hotel!
Review 45:This was a highlight of our entire japan trip. Every part of it was incredible and everyone was so great. Highly recommended!!!
