Reviews for Hotel Lugano

Review 1:No Super Market or Food & Drink Shop/ Restaurant near the hotel....

Review 2:Not far from Mestre train Station .15 Min Walk. Nice Breakfast ..Good Support from Hotel Staff.

Review 3:There was only 1 electrical plug in the room and it was... in the bathroom. We had 3 phones, tablet and a laptop and it was reaaallly difficult to queue them all for charging.

Review 4:Nice location next to bus and train station. About 300 meters away. Not noisy during night time. Pretty nice breakfasts and friendly reception staff.

Review 5:Staff not so nice. Suggest to provide more information to guests upon check-in, so there'll be less need to deal with staff who are not helpful.

Review 6:Location - was easy enough to travel to Venice everyday Cleanliness

Review 7:The Breakfast buffet could perhaps be a little better. With something like omelets and sausages.

Review 8:Rooms were spacious and superb bathroom. Location is very convenient, just a few meters from the bus stand. barely 10 minutes away from Venice.

Review 9:Unfriendly personnel. Got different room than we booked - was very old and not really a 4 star comfort. Had to complain twice to get the room changed.

Review 10:Excellent value, clean, modern hotel and close to train station with easy connection on regular trains to Venice. Was put off with Venice hotel prices and would choose this option again when we revisit.

Review 11:The guy in reception was not very helpful when we asked then about options to come back from Venice at night. He was quite rude.

Review 12:This hotel was a very good surprise for us. It is located on Mestre (11 minutes by train to Venezia Santa Lucia) however this is not a problem because it is right in front of the station. The only problem is that the last train from Venezia to Mestre arrivea at 23:04 at Venezia St Lucia Station, so you need to consider it if you want have a dinner there. The hotel is renewed. The room is comfortable, clean and the breakfast was good. We fully recommend this hotel. It is a perfect cheap option compared to hotels located on the island.

Review 13:This is not a four star hotel...we know since we have stayed at many... Breakfast buffet only

Review 14:Close to Mestre train station...!thats about it .Everything else is only 2 star At best, we were able to get into and out of the city quickly and easily...city Busses are stuffed at most times...

Review 15:Not much to complain about.

Review 16:Hotel Lugano is a nice hotel with perfect location. Its close to the bus station and train station, and very short drive to Venice. Overall it's a good quality hotel: clean, nice breakfast, friendly staff, but a little bit old and tired. There was an on-site parking which was convenient too (have to hay for parking). I would recommend this Hotel if you are on the budget but still want nice place to stay. Will stay there again.

Review 17:No kettle and safety box was broken.

Review 18:Location is good and pretty easy to find but no restaurant in surrounding. Taking bus needs to be aware where the bus stop is especially at night.

Review 19:Breakfast was the worst of our 7 hotels in Italy. Food appeared old and stale; no catering for dietary preferences/ needs. Catering staff had a did not care/ did not know attitude. No in room tea and coffee facilities although a kettle was supplied on request.

Review 20:Great location, close to train to Venice (1 stop), close to airport shuttle and grocery shop. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel room very clean.

Review 21:Hotel is obsolete, but I think much better than any same price level hotel on the island.Wifi is not good, always disconnected.

Review 22:Good location, good price compare to the hotels on the island, it's much more worth to book a hotel near mainland station.

Review 23:everything they say it's true, there's a new restored wing and an old decaying one, i don't know the odds but you're chancing getting a good room. not recommended

Review 24:The photographs misrepresented the quality of the rooms by only showing the superior ones. We booked economy rooms after viewing these, also, the text stated "mini bar, and flat screen TV which did not apply. The hair dryer did not work properly there were cracked tiles in the bathroom and the decor was very tired. We requested an upgrade which the staff attempted but these rooms were not much better with an extra cost of €15. no flat screen TV or mini bar the hair dryer did not work and neither did the safe but the bathroom was a lot nicer. The restaurant was like a holiday camp. Food ok. Hotel bar closed during the day, nowhere to get a coffee.

Review 25:Reception staff totally disinterested in people, nowhere to get a cup of coffee/lunch in a 4* hotel at noon, nowhere to have an apperro at 7pm. Definitely not a 4* hotel. Difficult to find as sign on leaving train station covered by trees.

Review 26:Very pleasant waiting staff.

Review 27:Some of the staff were rude. They did not bring water to the room. The room was on 1st floor and faced building blocks. No kettle, no free tea/coffee in the room (it should be default for every hotel room). Breakfast was good but again non-friendly staff. Grumpy faces.

Review 28:The girl at the reception was very helpful and friendly. Gave full info about transportation when asked.

Review 29:room decor little dated but very clean

Review 30:Location was good rented a car so had parking space there is a bus up the road to go into Venice. Comfortable very basic clean room but basic

Review 31:I wouldn't say we didn't like it but the food was a little bit of a let down.

Review 32:We loved the closeness to the train station and the staff were always very helpful.

Review 33:The location is good from travelling perspective. However, if you want to find a restaurant to eat specially at night then you need to cross the train station and find some place. I only got something in Mc Donalds after 9 PM on the other side of the train station :(

Review 34:The room was spacious compared to all other hotels I have stayed in in Europe. The bathroom was nice and clean. The breakfast served was nice and fresh.

Review 35:Don't go too late for breakfast as although it is till 10am they start clearing before. Parking is at an extra cost and it is small.

Review 36:Hotel is clean, very polite staff and excellent location to go to Venice

Review 37:- Room in need for a renovation (ceiling full of water erosion marks, little bit of dust) - Although parking is payed extra euros, was overcrowded and had to wait extra time to get out

Review 38:- Location (minute walk to train station) - Breakfast

Review 39:The two beds drifted apart during the night. We woke because of this and had to push them together again. This should be remedied.

Review 40:The staff was very kind and helpful. They had good advice on tourist attractions and on tourist sights in Venice.

Review 41:No hot water service, the staff told me to request at bar by myself and I must took it to my room by my self, too !! And I lost my way , so I walked past the scared way lonely !

Review 42:Staff helped me to call taxi and explained me to go the cruise terminal line

Review 43:Dint expected this to be so nice. 1. Very nice staff 2. Good accommodation 3. Very very good and excellent breakfast 4.very near to the station 5.very affordable. Job well done and a very happy customer thanks

Review 44:Room had a funny smell but it was overall okay

Review 45:Not as much as you expect when you go into a 4 star hotel. The lobby looked nice and the staff was really great for helping us with Venice and how to get around.

Review 46:Lets say than this hotel is not 4 stars, even when the prize is for ahigh class level. No bar or restaurant open during sundays, cleaningpeople open the door without knocking (we eere inside!!) and the view ofthe hotel is awful. Not worth it pay a lot of money for this hotel

Review 47:Room were clean

Review 48:The old part of the hotel is not as comfortable as the new one, also the hot water does not work there.

Review 49:We stayed at Lugano for one night because we have to take an early flight from Marco Polo airport. My eldest daughter, who is 19, had to stay one more night alone; she had to take the airport shuttle at 5:10 am and one men from the hotel kindly accompanied her to the bus stop, I am really grateful for that. The location of the hotel was really convenient to take the airport shuttle, we did not have the opportunity to try the breakfast because we left early in the morning.

Review 50:Breakfast was very poor and extremely basic. Very few choices.

Review 51:We requested a room in the new part of the hotel. It was really lovely. Bathroom was stunning as well. Location was good to travel to Venice by bus(6 or 6L)which about 20mins to get to Venice. The hotel was walking distance from Mestre station.

Review 52:Although a very short distance to the train and bus station, the area is not the best, however this is a very reasonable 4* hotel! and the commute to Venice is quick and easy. The only other critics I would say is TV channels limited and picture quality isn't the best. The Shower over bath should have a curtain as a lot of water sprayed out and left big puddles on the floor which did not run into the drain, fortunately the cleaner did a good job every morning mopping our bathroom floor and providing us with fresh towels daily:)

Review 53:Modern Communal Areas Modern (superior) room & bathroom Good lighting options in room. Breakfast inc in stay (Hot & Cold food) very nice, just missing some sausages. Staff were friendly Safe

Review 54:The WiFi was horribly slow and kept kicking us off but you can LAN into the wall. Needs to improve breakfast selection and get a fitness center.

Review 55:Close to Venice but still affordable. Clean facilities and a very friendly staff.

Review 56:Hotel has two different buildings - old and new one. We stay at old part. Furniture, doors and hall was not so good as at new part. Cleanness at the bathroom was not excellent. We see the hair at the floor when we checked in.

Review 57:Spacious room with extra bed. Good location near the transport way to Venice. Good breakfast for this budget (~80 EUR). Friendly staff.

Review 58:Pictures are showing new rooms but not old one which we get, where everything was damaged. The Shower cabin collapse when we tried to take shower. TV was CCTV size and you need binocular for watching, also I couldn't control air condition, only on or off. Twin size bad, one side was higher. Breakfast was poor for 4 star hotel.

Review 59:Near to train station

Review 60:Parking is a little limited but good overall.

Review 61:Great hotel, spacious room, great breakfast, staff is helpful and polite. Will stay again on our next visit. Only a 5 minute drive to Venice. Will recommend to anyone looking for a great place to stay.

Review 62:Wi-Fi didn't work properly all times, after check-in we had to wait 20 mins outside the room while it was being cleaned up, rooms and breakfast don't correspond to a 4-star hotel

Review 63:Location (3 mins on foot from Mestre train station and a bus stop within 100 meters), nice staff

Review 64:Tiny shower cabin.

Review 65:Location (the bus stop in 100 metres - app.10 -15 min. to Piazzale Roma; the train station Venezia Mestre in 5 min. away afoot). Good wi-fi signal. Breakfasts are included. Fridge & conditioner in the room. Helpful staff.

Review 66:The hotel does not have AC like advertised...they will only turn it on after 1 June even thought the hotel is sweltering hot, the make receptionist was not nice and gave us wrong information, and the breakfast was HORRIBLE.

Review 67:The location was close to the train station

Review 68:Worst food we have ever had in a "restaurant" - so bad we complained to the manager and did not pay (had hardly eaten anything) Only one in four lights worked in bathroom. Not a good hotel.

Review 69:First appearance good, clean and fresh. Cheaper than staying in Venice itself

Review 70:Wifi didn't work in our room.

Review 71:Really close to the train station. Clean, good staff, reasonable price. Venice is 10 mins on the train and they're really frequent. Train station is less than a 5 minute walk. We went on to Rome and could get a fast train straight from Mestre station without having to go into central venice.

Review 72:They have 2 lifts and 1 always out of sercice.

Review 73:- The location is very near Venezia Mestre staion, just 5 minutes walk. But it's in the other side of the city so this area is very quiet. And this side of metro station doesn't has a lift. - Bus stop to Venezia is in front of the hotel. - Big room. Big bath room with bathtub. Bed and pillows are comfortable. - Helpful staff. - Excellent breakfast with buffet style. Many kind of breads, croissants, hams, cheeses, yogurts, fruits, coffee.

Review 74:Guys on reception were helpful but not particularly friendly...

Review 75:Less than 3min walk to the train station with takes you to Venise, close to shops. Room large as was the bathroom... although this had a odd design!

Review 76:The hotel and rooms didn't look like 4 stars. It looks like 2 stars. The room was very old (tv,bed, furniture etc.), breakfast was insufficient. I would never go again.

Review 77:The only good thing was helpful staff.

Review 78:The TV, which has been mentioned in the advertisment, is extremely small and old. Also a very limited selection of channels - most of them in italian - not even BBC oder other international channels. The bathroom was ok, although there were some hair in the bathtub and toothpaste stains in the sink. The bar downstairs was closed during our entire visit and seemed to be usually closed as well, which is a pity since it would have been nice to have a drink in the evening. Also the breakfast buffet was pretty small for a four star hotel.

Review 79:The receptionists were really nice and helpful. We asked if we could leave our luggage at the hotel until we'd come back in the evening and it was no problem at all. In fact we already could move into our room - 6 hours before actual check in. The doublebed was very comfortable and the room, in general, was clean.

Review 80:Nothing, but the breakfast. However if you know italian breakfast in general it was quite a lot.

Review 81:As requested we got to stay in a renovated room. Ours was spacious, clean and very appealing, with a comfy bed on top. The hotel is perfect when arriving by car, €10 for the parking is definitely worth it. It's only a few minutes walk to Venice mestre train station and from there a short train ride to Venice.

Review 82:the staff were very helpful in guiding us and suggesting the places to visit. we requested breakfast in the morning as we were leaving early in the morning and the staff provided it even though it was very early in the day (before scheduled breakfast time). An excellent place with new amenities and very close to the station and local bus stops.

Review 83:It was Clean and ok they I was la little far from Veneice to come back at night

Review 84:The hotel is nice not baldy located bus stop is One block away staff is ok did not get a chance to have breakfast their no no comment on that it was Clean Very Italian TV was a tube Tv if you open the Windows AC wont work

Review 85:Quite old interior and facilities. Including mattress, carpet, pillow, bathroom and television. Staying here seems living in 80s era.

Review 86:The location walking distance from Mestre train station and very close to bus stop to Venice.

Review 87:Room was small. Television was poor, old and only Italian channels.

Review 88:Location is top! Easy access to railway station. Breakfast very nice. Price good

Review 89:The town in which it is located gets closed around 19.30 hrs and hence, moving around as well as eating outside options are very limited.

Review 90:The place that really is worth the money that I paid though I stayed there for only one night on business trip. The people are co-operative and conveniently located near Venezia - Mestre Station.

Review 91:Difficult to find when we first arrived as it is on the opposite side of the Station to where the bus stop is located but we accept that is one of the disadvantages of travelling independently.Restaurant was OK but too bright and functional for a relaxing evening meal.

Review 92:Location was OK for a stay outside of Venice. Bed was very comfortable and breakfast service and choices were very good for the price we paid.Good bus service into Venice. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 93:I was not feeling very comfortable walking to the Hotel alone at night.

Review 94:Location was good if you don´t necessarily want to overpay for a Hotel only to live directly in Venice itself, but still want to have a good possibility of quickly getting there.

Review 95:We heard it was good to book outside of Venice and take the train in. This hotel is in a quiet neighborhood just 1 short block outside of one of the tunnel exits. Helpful Staff.

Review 96:No real complains. The bathroom needed a bit of renovation as one of the shower doors was leaking out water.

Review 97:Best location if you are staying in the mainland as bus (bus no. 6, SL etc...) to Venezia Piazzele Roma takes 10-15 mins and is from right outside the hotel! Really close to Mestre railway station (connected by subway towards Marghera - 5 mins walk)

Review 98:Since I travel with a large luggage, having a hotel next to the train station is a plus. It was literally two short blocks from the station. Check in was very quick.

Review 99:after arrival I got a room (i had single room standard) according to the pictures i was thinking its gonna be standard but i go really ugly and old room. Those pictures are not even presented on booking.com I went to the reception and demanded to get a proper room, after 5 minutes I finally got a change and as a sorry it was huge amazing room.

Review 100:After a problem with room, which was old and ugly I got a different one, superior. Hotel is nice and clean, close to the train station. Breakfast ok.

Review 101:We arrived in the room and we had been put in the old part of the hotel. Our fridge didn't work and as we needed it, we went to ask for it to be fixed and the reception said the technician isn't here so it won't be fixed. The staff weren't at all polite of accommodation and didn't make us feel very welcome. Corridors were noisy at night, with guests talking loudly on speaker phones at various times of the night (not necessarily the hotels fault.) We asked for a taxi at a certain time, and then when we arrived in the lobby, the reception only then called the cab company making us late.

Review 102:It served it's purpose which was cheap accommodation on mainland Venice close to public transport.

Review 103:Close industrial zone Decaying housing nearby Lack restaurants near hotel Lack of kitchen facility

Review 104:Close to railway station Far enough from the 'tourist trap' of Venezia.

Review 105:- Front desk staff were a bit cold. - Mosquitos which perhaps were every where in city.

Review 106:- Location very near to Mestre, Venice station. - Nice quite city. -

Review 107:The hotel is in perfect location to visit the city. Only 10 mins trip by train to reach the main station. The facilities are correct and the staff is helpful. Good place to stay.

Review 108:As we arrived early we were given the available standard room but had booked a larger superior room. Did not complain as it was OK.The tv was poor - small and not good definition for watching football world cup final.

Review 109:location was very convenient for the railway station and buses into central Venice.Very clean pleasant building.

Review 110:Helpfull and friendly staff Hotel modern with air-co (handy by 30 degrees outside) Good breakfast Very quiet room (windows closed) with good air conditioning system and cosy bathroom Cleanliness Good location to get to Venise Private parking (to book with the room, added-fee will be charged)

Review 111:The staff were polite, but only did what they had to, to satisfyour needs.Although the restaurant was suppose to open at 7:30pm, we had to approach the reception desk at 7:45 and ask if they were going to open for dinner as the restaurant was in total darkness. The head waiter opened the restaurant at 7:50pm but did not seem happy. The meals also left a lot to be desired, and were overpriced, given the quality of the food. The buffet breakfast was disgusting and almost ineddible. I have stayed at many 4 star hotels over the course of the last 3 months and this would have to be the worst experience by far. The shower in our room was totally useless and unusable, as it was on the side wall over a bath, rather than at the end of the bath, and it was pointing straight out into the room, with no shower screen or curtain. There ware holes in our sheets, which were not changed for the three days that we were there. Our room seemed to be next to a void, and the noise emanating from this void from about 5:30 each morning until late at night was shocking. Outside our room, which was facing the street, there were workmen using a "Jack Hammer" from about 8:am till around 5:00pm. The dust being created was unbelievable. In addition to the lack of cleanliness, there were bird droppings as well as a dead pigeon (which had been there for two days that I know of) I find it amazing that this establishment has been rated as 4 star. It's current rating in our opinion should be no more than 2 star!! They certainly need to lift their game to attain their advertised rating. My wife and I were far from happy with our experience.

Review 112:Not much. If anything, the bed was reasonably comfortable.

Review 113:The room was modern and updated, similar to a boutique hotel. It was comfortable and clean. The hotel was right next to a bus station and it was very convenient to get into Venice. It was also easy to get back to the airport. Breakfast was offered each morning. Great cappuccinos!

Review 114:Bus stop to Venice 50 yards away. 10 minute bus ride to venice. Quarter mile walk to bus shuttle that takes 30 minutes to get to airport. Hotel staff let us leave our bags in a storage room after check out to go out without having to carry all our belongings. Nothing bad to say about the hotel or the area.

Review 115:The shower over the bath is slippery and dangerous. It should be changed to showe only. Front office staff would not help with printing boarding passes for a flight. I had to use a computer in Italian to find the boarding passes and attach them to an email so they would print them for me. They could have easily done this and saved a lot of stress on my part as I do not speak Italian.

Review 116:Large room that was clean and tidy.

Review 117:Not worth it for the money. Breakfast poor.

Review 118:Near the train station, good room with balcony. .

Review 119:Terrible service, I would say no service at all. The receptionist was extremely rude.

Review 120:The locations of the hotel was fairly good.

Review 121:lack of restaurants and shops nearby.

Review 122:only 5mins walk from train station.

Review 123:- very near the subway & bus stop - good breakfast - clean

Review 124:Toilet in room 114 is fit for a contortionist .bidet should be removed and toilet put in its place .room very small

Review 125:Convenient for getting into venice

Review 126:Everything

Review 127:Nothing

Review 128:The furnitude is old and bad, tehe breakfast is poor

Review 129:relatively fast wifi - not much else. Wont be back

Review 130:At a good location , just 200m from the train station, good Wi-Fi, clean rooms and comfortable beds.

Review 131:The food is awful

Review 132:Location is excellent

Review 133:Very dirty bathroom! I've got an infection from dirty toilet! Disgusting!
