Reviews for Hotel Green Plaza Hakone
Review 1:Hard to get to the hotel, but they do provide a shuttle bus from the bus stop. Give them a call when you arrived at the bus stop. There were also really accommodating to send us to the nearest bus station upon checkout.
Review 2:The Hot Spring Bath view was fantastic
Review 3:The staff consistently gave us wrong information on 1) adding children for dinner 2) bus connections to the rope way / ferry. When I called once to ask for price to add a child for dinner, i was quote USD30 then when i called to confirm, it was USD50. I asked for the staff to check with his manager and he said he is the one who calls the shots and no one else.?!!
Review 4:Facilities were nice
Review 5:The futon (Japanese sleeping mattress ) is just a bit too thin, breakfast could be a bit better ( especially the sausages and fruits)
Review 6:Dinner is very good especially smoked duck breast and onsen is excellent, parking are plenty
Review 7:No towel provided at the onsen, we have to bring our own from room. Not used to Japanese bed and have a backache in the morning.
Review 8:Friendly and helpful staff to pick us up when we missed the last rope way timing.
Review 9:We were expected that for having a traditional Japanese set dinner in this hotel. However they sent us email and told us that the dinner was changed to buffet just after the free cancellation date of our booking. We felt a bit cheated. Poor English standard of front desk staff. Only closed to rope way station but not the bus stop. And we only knew that we could call assistance for van pick up by a post in the rope way station after we checked-out. It never mentioned in our confirmation or their hotel website.
Review 10:The Onsen Fuji Mt. View was really awesome. We were pretty appreciated they sent out van to pick up us when we were asking the walking route from the other hotel. The main visitors of the hotel were local Japanese.
Review 11:Dinner was buffet which was just ok. it would be perfer to have traditional Japnese meal after had such amazing onsen.
Review 12:Staffs were very nice and helpful. our room was Japanese style room which was big and comfy with amazing mountain view. The onsen was the best part. We had a wonderful time here.
Review 13:Dinner was identical two evenings in a row, including "todays specials". Western Breakfast a bit overcooked.
Review 14:Nice Onzen hotel with view of Mt. Fuji from dining area as well as Onzen. Good breakfast + dinner buffet (halfboard)
Review 15:The recent suspension of Hakone Ropeway due to restriction on access tothe Owakudani area may cause some inconvenience in getting to the hotel.
Review 16:Staff are friendly. Free shuttle service between hotel and nearbystations. Free sampling of saki during afternoon hours while using theoutdoor onsen. Good selection of foods for breakfast buffet.
Review 17:Unfortunately it was cloudy during our stay, hence we did not have the view of Mt Fuji from the onsen.
Review 18:Japanese hospitality at its finest... also loved the amazing view of greeneries from our room, very relaxing indeed...
Review 19:Weather prevented Fuji view.
Review 20:the onsen experience did not disappoint. We weren't lucky with weather as Fuji wasn't visible; however the setting was still unforgettable. Lovely staff, lovely facilities. Recommend for couples more than any other type of party.
Review 21:I did not tell if we should to call the hotel to pick us up at nearst bus station( ubako station). They have shuttle bus to pick us. But we didnt know. So we walk (hiking) with 2 big baggage around 15 minutes until the shuttle bus crossing over.
Review 22:The onsen was magnificient. It was a great experience.
Review 23:Due to volcanic activity, the ropeway was suspended and the hotel was difficult to reach. We were given the wrong directions and ended up at the wrong place. On the way back, we were dropped at the wrong bus location. Although we had the freepass we still had to pay for the bus.
Review 24:Little to do in the evening and no other restaurants nearby
Review 25:Fantastic view and good facility even though hotel needs a bit updating but still good value for money
Review 26:We choose this hotel as part of our honeymoon trip to Japan. The place is amazing - people are very friendly, the menu is excellent, the onsen is wonderful. Everything is great. We will be back there.
Review 27:One or two of the reception staff members were not exactly helpful. They gave us negative replies even before giving us the opportunity to explain our problems and concerns fully.
Review 28:Amazing views of Mount Fuji from our rooms. Excellent service from the hotel's shuttle bus staff. The bus driver arrived promptly to pick us up from the Ubako ropeway station on the day of our arrival. The next evening, the same driver went out of his way to pick us up from Togendai ropeway station when we were "stranded" there, long past the ropeway's operation hours, due to some some unexpected delays and our own miscalculations. A BIG THANK YOU to the hotel's service staff!!
Review 29:Combine of Japanese/Western style hotel, services are good, staffs are nice, foods are fabulous. Close to Gondola station, and not far from bus station, the hotel's shuttle bus started around 9am took us to the bus station.
Review 30:The traffic is less convenient, The ropeway only serves to 4pm. If the guests are not reminded in advance, it's very easy to miss the final ropeway to reach hotel.
Review 31:hot spring, facility is good. A very good view to see Fuji Montain. The meal (dinner & berakfast) is good.
Review 32:Hotel was in the middle of Forrest so travel to and out of of There was a bit troublesome. The futon was hard.
Review 33:The hotel had a great onsen or hot spring with a beautiful view of Mount Fuji. We also appreciated the complimentary sake to drink at the onsen.
Review 34:Nobody really speaks English, and staff were not helpful at all. We werethe only non japanese couple and it looked like they wanted to get ridof us. Though it was written someone would come to get the futons readynobody appeared. It can be hard to find. If you arrive in hakone afterthe cable car has closed around 5 pm, it's better to get a cabbecause the bus will drop you way to far. We got lost walking and had toask for help at another hotel.
Review 35:Green Plaza is a typical japanese style hotel, with a nice onsen and apleasant location, and great views of Mt Fuji. Our room had both tatamiand beds. Massage is also very good.
Review 36:After dinner, there did not seem like there was much to do, so it was slightly boring.
Review 37:I stayed at this hotel with my siblings and we had dinner in the restaurant on the 1st floor - we were pleasantly surprised when our meal was served (we were not expecting a multiple course meal), and the food was good! One of the waiters did his best to explain to us the menu in English, which we really appreciated. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast as well.
Review 38:When it is raining, it is not possible to see the Fuji mountain from the hotel. For the foreigners, could you show us a video film instead about Fuji mountain ?
Review 39:When we got there, we found ourselves at a different hotel. There were Hotel Green Plaza Hakone and Hotel Green Plaza Gora. For the foreigners as us, "Hakone" is place name. So we just thought there is one Hotel Green Plaza. The ending of the name was not so remarquable....In fact, there were two hotels: Hotel Green Plaza Hakone and Gora, which were of the same hotel chain though. We were so tired and embarrassed: we took train and mountain train and walked...with the great hope to take a bath at a Fuji mountain watching rotenburo....but found ourselves at a not right hotel. The disappointment changed into delight very soon though, as the Green Plaza Hakone sent a car to pick us up to the right hotel which was 20 minutes away. Thank you, Mister. We appreciate very much your effort in that evening....

Review 63:Very pricey. Took a while to get to the hotel from odawara.
Review 64:The hotel was located a ropeway stop away from the lake. Very pricey for what it was, the room was large by Japanese standards but kind of worn.
Review 65:That we couldn't have stayed longer
Review 66:We enjoyed everything about this Hotel. The breakfast buffet offered a wide range of options and the special dinner served to us in the evening was delicious. The pick up and drop off service to the Ropeway station was much appreciated. Staying here was a special way of spending our last 2 nights in Japan. We also enjoyed the welcome drink both nights in the lobby and the live music performance on our last evening
Review 67:Access via public transportation requires ample time, however, there is a bus that can get you back to Odawara station within an hour - a lot faster than other options. Use of this bus is not included in the Hakone pass.
Review 68:Mt Fuji view. Outdoor onsen. Great spread for breakfast. Dinner very nicelypresented. Lvery nice live piano music and clarinet concert in evening.
Review 69:Very little provision for dinner in hotel for those not on meal plan. Wifi does not work at all. Hotel is dated and needs to be refurbished.
Review 70:The Onsen. The breakfast spread. The view of Mt Fuji.
Review 71:- Expensive - Staff cant speak fluent English - Poor wifi signal
Review 72:- Very good onsen - Delicious snacks provided in the room - Located near the cable car station
Review 73:The room fittings and furnitures are very dated.
Review 74:Location is good, 3 minute walk from ropeway station. Nice garden. The 8 course dinner included in the half board was excellent.
Review 75:Price it really high. Onsen is alright, probably not the best.
Review 76:Easy to find if you come by the ropeway (use Hakone Free pass!!) but it takes a while to get there. In the station there are already signs where to go. We had a japanese room which has defenitely not the best comfort as you sleep on the ground. But our room had views at mt Fuji which was defenitely great. Food was great and hotel staff speaks english.
Review 77:Our room view was to parking place (not most expensive room).
Review 78:Great dinner and breakfast in high-class restaurant. Many courses and adapted to my fish+vegeterian diet. Great onsen hot bath outside. Staff helping. Good service and nice location.
Review 79:Coming from down-mountain on the ropeway, we nearly missed the sign to get to the Green Plaza. More visible signage would be helpful for unfamiliar guests.
Review 80:The staff was extremely helpful and courteous, you could not ask for a better location, and the service was wonderful.
Review 81:Difficult to find the hotel, should have more direction signs on the roads leading to the hotel. English is not widely spoken compared to similar size hotels.
Review 82:Convenient location for sight seeing.
Review 83:The hotel is a bit old and the price is a bit on the high side.
Review 84:Hot spring spa with the view to Mt Fuji. Dinner was good.
