Reviews for Tsuki no Shizuka

Review 1:Lower loft ceiling is a bit low. Anda heaving to walk up and down steep stairwells was something to take caution if book this room

Review 2:Love everything especially the smiling and helpful staffs. Our room was huge 2 storey loft. Onsen was comfortable. Foods were nice. As we stayed for 2 nights they have tried to accommodate our needs for variety of meals

Review 3:Was very impressed with the amazing service, particularly that of counter staff Mr. Keiichi. Loved the peacefulness and serenity of the Ryokan's atmosphere.

Review 4:Front gate was locked and reception was closed at around 11pm, not 24 hour front desk as claimed in the service tab of the booking page.

Review 5:Quiet location with a great onsen (have both indoor and outdoor). Free indoor parking. We slept in western rooms and they were very large and comfortable. Staff were very polite and walked us through everything in the ryokan and rooms. 10 mins driving from centre Matsumoto. Convenience stores nearby.

Review 6:The staff is the friendliest and so keen to make our experience the best! We really felt looked after. Our room was amazing and the hotel has great original features, a true Japanese experience. Great onsen too.

Review 7:Location is a bit out of town. 20mins by taxi (though they have shuttle bus for morning trip to town). Taxi cost only Yen 2,000 though so it was not bad.

Review 8:Staff is at its best. Really very friendly people. One very nice guy speak English well and is very helpful. Very large room. Really nice breakfast and dinner set. Good onsen.

Review 9:breakfast and dinner are superb. The rice is the best rice I have ever had. Employee are so helpful and friendly. What a wonderful and memorable stay.

Review 10:It's a history hotel with soft oscen, kind workers and delicious dinner make you like at home, the price is worthy if you like Japan style with building art just go!

Review 11:Did not have room reserved available on first night. Carpeting upstairs terribly stained. Noisy poor location too far from castle and shopping areas.

Review 12:Onsen and breakfast and dinner

Review 13:Building is 260 years old which adds nice character. The room we stayed in (Hana ... that's right, a name not a number) was very large and split across 2 floors with an internal staircase and a Jacuzzi in the room. Really nice for a taste of Japan ... but maybe a bit odd for a business traveler who wants rooms in Dublin and Dubai to be the same

Review 14:Nothing - they even had yogurt and cereal for breakfast in case Japanese breakfast isn't your thing.

Review 15:The staff were extremely helpful during our stay. They really helped make our stay such a great experience - particularly a guy called Keije. The room was very nice and spacious and the onsen was great. The food felt very authentic and was very tasty.

Review 16:Fast WiFi only in the Lobby (but also a nice place). Almost no restaurants in the surrounding area.

Review 17:Onsen was very nice! Appartement was clean and the staff excellent and helpful. There is a good bus connection to the city, but also a relaxed walk of around 40 minutes to the castle is not a bad thing if the weather is good. Bus shuttle from hotel to the station is also possible by request. Highly recommended!

Review 18:Only problem was there were few restaurant choices in the area. However,we found an Izakaya (bar) close by that had drinks and side dishes andkaraoke!! The locals and Mama-san treated us well though they didn'tspeak English and everyone smoked. Next door was a Sushi shop with thesame owners.

Review 19:We enjoyed almost everything! The breakfast (Japanese) was very good butwe noticed some guest with Western breadfast did not eat all. The roomswere clean and comfortable. The Hot Bath (Onsen) very nice and clean.Extremely good value! We paid more per person at another place the daybefore than at this one for the 3 of us.

Review 20:The effort the hotel stuff provided us was excellent, especially Mr. Kinoshita Keiichi was not only very good advisor, but also very pleasant treater. Hotel is beautifully arranged. Rooms are clean and the hotel atmosphere is very friendly.

Review 21:All excellent. Helpful to have a car, however other reviews suggest that free ride back to Matsumoto central were provided.

Review 22:Staff were fantastic. Good level of English spoken. Great welcome on arrival, which continued throughout. Lots of info available on Matsumoto & surrounding areas. Fabulous room (suite for family - plenty of space) & onsen.

Review 23:Wifi didn't work, but that's all

Review 24:The staff greeted us with a huge welcome, took our bags and showed us to the rooms and showed how everything worked and how to get to and use onsen. Which was beautiful. Inside and outside. The receptionist even drove us to the castle and to the station the day after. Everything was perfect!

Review 25:Bed was a bit too hard by Western standards. We initially requested a Japanese-style room but possible mixup meant we were provided a western-style room instead. Wifi connection was slow but good to check emails and keep connected with the family.

Review 26:Excellent staff, very polite and made every effort to converse in English with us. The onsen was incredible and included an outdoor bath, and the room cozy and clean. Free Wifi, location was in a quiet area that was a bit out of the way from the bustle of the city but buses ran like clockwork every 30 minutes to take us into town. This was a great place to stay and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to visit this beautiful town.

Review 27:Staff were fabulous. Location a bit further out of town than expected, but the hotel was worth the bus journey. We enjoyed our stay.

Review 28:Nice boutique hotel. Very clean

Review 29:Wonderful old school Ryokan. No style but lots of love. Great bath.

Review 30:The staff and Onsen were very good.

Review 31:It was hard without enough language
