Reviews for Maison d'Hôte Valentine
Review 1:We had a very pleasant and comfortable stay in Maison D'hote Valentin. The hosts were very friendly, the room very clean and there was a stunning view on the rooftop terrace (but also from the room). Also it's only a 5/10 minute walk to the Todra Gorge, very nice. We can not forget to mention the food: the home made salad en tajine were very delicious! :)
Review 2:The manager was very nice and the meals were delicious. The views from our room and the terrace were incredible. Only 10 minute walk to the heart of Todra Gorge.
Review 3:The rooms are basic, the bathroom is tiny, but everything is clean. Don't expect luxury, but expect authenticity.
Review 4:The meals (dinner and breakfast) were excellent. The best we've eaten during our trip through Morocco.
Review 5:You need to leave you car on public parking opposite to a little shop and walk down 20-30m. The neighborhood might look a bit scary at first, but it is not that bad after all and we really enjoyed the stay.
Review 6:It's a pension with a really local feel. Be prepared to have a little less comfort but with an authenticity in return. Nice view from the roof terrace. The dinner is quite expensive, 100 Dh per head, but the Tajine we got was the best during our whole 2 weeks stay in Morocco! The location is very good, just 10min walk from the Gorges.
Review 7:The en-suite in our room was not completely walled off so toilet noises are there for your partner to hear too! Also, the toilet butts right up against the wall. If you're a big person, or very overweight . . . good luck!
Review 8:Once you see the sign there will be a little area to park opposite a general shop. Then you will need to walk down the little side alley and take a right (or two) to find the hotel entrance, The family who run the place are very friendly and speak moderate English.
Review 9:MY WIFE: Load animal noise in the late morning. But it is normal for the village so it is netural comment.
Review 10:Pleasant hotel staff. Good breakfast. Amazing view. ME: Berberian Village spirit
Review 11:As neighours have animals you will have to deal with some smells and noises.
Review 12:Very nice view, close to Todra gorge. Helpful staff, good breakfast and dinner.
Review 13:No air con but the location meant there was a nice continuous breeze which made it cooler.
Review 14:Charming location looking onto an oasis and the staff were beyond accommodating The food they served was the best in the 2 and a half weeks we were in Morocco In walkable proximity to todrha gorge.
Review 15:The roof is amazing to have dinner or relax with a tea. The staff are very kind and helpful. The food is good and the breakfast great! The location is perfect, it is near from the gorges and the valley is in front of the hotel. The rooms are very nice decorated. We enjoyed a tea with the owner and a friend of him, it was very nice.
Review 16:We were there in winter time and really enjoyed the warm bed and great breakfast.
Review 17:Beautiful sun terrace and nice owner! Good value for money
Review 18:Good dinner (tajine) and breakfast.
Review 19:My wife did not like the hard beds
Review 20:The views from the terrace were quite stunning
Review 21:Location, decent rooms, wifi, Fantastic dunner and breakfast! Friendly hosts.
Review 22:Just an amazing place. Off the beaten track. Very authentic.
Review 23:We were pressured into taking a guide and was taken out by the owner's 11 yr old son to see the local area. It was kind of nice but not really what we expected! Unless you're into climbing or seriously long trekking its easy enough to walk around the area alone anyway. Should have stuck to our original plans of going it alone. Also, at breakfast on our last day on the rooftop the host's friend appeared and kept asking if we wanted to stay longer. He tried convincing us there was nothing to see at our next destination. We never got to the bottom of why exactly we should stick around (although he mentioned he worked at a carpet shop!!l) and we showed no interest in changing our plans to set off after breakfast but he pestered us throughout our breakfast which was a bit annoying.
Review 24:Location and views are really fab. Rooms were perfectly comfortable and the place was easy to find. Overall we would recommend it. THe home cooked food was superb.
Review 25:at first the place looked a bit dodgy and poorly maintained rooms are small and toilet and shower are together in same space-also small toilets shakey when you sit down shower is ok no restaurants around for a meal they need to let people know that next door you can see the cows and sheeo that belong to the villagers=so you are experiencing how people live there
Review 26:living in the berber village amonst the people location close to the Tandra Gorge food was good great views of the mountains the host tried hard to please us
Review 27:Great location near the gorge, very good breakfast on the terrace with a beautiful view, and a really nice family, everyone was very helpful and welcoming and they also helped us arrange a desert trip which was really great. We would highly recommend this nice and clean hotel with very friendly staff.
Review 28:very warm family. helped us getting arround and enjoy our stay. we checked out hours later because we did a mountain hike and there was no problem at all.
Review 29:A slightly softer bed would have been nice.
Review 30:We had a 3 course dinner:the flavors of the dishes were some of the best we have had in Morocco. It was great value for money. The proprietors were very accommodating in every way. Would recommend this place to anyone.
Review 31:No wifi in the room.
Review 32:The hotel organised for us to be picked up from the bus station without a hitch. The room was snug and we had a good view of the river and mountain. The meals were good. The hotel was set down an alley from the main road and a very easy walk to the gorge. The view from the terrace was superb. We took the guided walk behind the gorge, we felt our age, the start was long and steep but very worth it.
Review 33:Guests are invited to eat there in an evening, which is good as no real alternative nearby. Good home-cooked food, however very expensive - more expensive than any meals we had in restaurants on the trip. The food was good but not that good.
Review 34:Very friendly and welcoming staff, lovely family that run it. Seemed very multi-lingual which is a nice touch. Was a pleasure to stay in this hotel
Review 35:When sitting on the toilet, my knees reached to the wall (and I don't have long legs!!) Very small bathroom. When we came in, nobody came to say hello. The lady of the house ignored us and the owner was not very friendly. (The day we left, there was also a younger man who served breakfast, he was more friendly (a bit)). The owner gave no more explanation about restaurants or the environment. He knew we wanted to go for a certain walk, but we didn't quite know where the walk started or ended and how long she would take... But he gave no information. When we endid the walk, we saw that the walk nearly ended in his garden! He must have known that....
Review 36:The view was very nice and also the breakfast was good.
Review 37:cattle next to the building, quite noisy from early morning, lot of flies
Review 38:great location, lovely roof terrasse with great views, one of the best breakfasts we had in Maroc, helpful owner, hot water
Review 39:rather small and bad designed toilet.
Review 40:The owner makes the best Belgian french fries ! Beautiful terras and rooms next the to river. Very relaxing. Nice breakfast. Good food.
Review 41:We were taken to some friend of the owner and persuaded to buy carpets (owner of the hotel probably gets some commission) which we did not want. Rooms have really small bathrooms practically not separated from rooms. Although the breakfest was not bad, we would not recommend to eat expensive harira soup
Review 42:The view from the hotel and close Todra Gorge.
Review 43:Formal atmosphere. Average room, small bathroom. We were not able to sight straight on the toilet.
Review 44:Good location near entrance of the Todra Gorge. Good to know: hotel is situated in ait baha not tinerhir. We you know that it is good to find.
Review 45:not enough space while sitting on toilet
Review 46:Within walking distance of Todra Gorge, great view from terrace and room. River just next to house with green valley.
Review 47:Room a little dark, but it was a riad after all. Bed was hard but this was a budget option.
Review 48:Traditional home stay. Excellent location right by the gorge. Friendly host and very good cook. Recommend the evening meal cooked by owners wife. We read about a problem with flies before coming here but notice the owner has added fly screens to the windows. There was no problem of this kind in our room.
Review 49:But there was no door to the room with a toilette. There was just a blanket fixed at the floor.
Review 50:Nice little rooms and a beautifull view over the canyon.
Review 51:Nice place with a lovely view from the rooftop terrace. Rooms are simple but OK with a tiny shower/toilet. Clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Only short walk to the gorge!
Review 52:No door in the bathroom, no much privacy.
Review 53:Excellent location, next to Todra gorges. Impressive sights fromthe terrace and the room. Very kind staff. The best breakfast wehad in Morocco.El personal habla un perfecto español.
Review 54:Abdul, his family and Hassan were so helpfull & welcoming! Therefore we had a very nice time at the Todra gorge! We will definitely come back one day in the future!
Review 55:We ended up paying twice as much as advertised.
Review 56:The staff was friendly and the location nice.
Review 57:The bathroom was a bit awkward - not easy to negotiate and very open to the room.
Review 58:The food was delicious. Highly recommended to dine here.
Review 59:Staff very friendly and food wonderful, best we had in morocco. Lovelyviews from rooms
Review 60:the welcome: tea offered in a tapistry shop!!! a bit small but very cheap
Review 61:personnel breakfast terrace
Review 62:Very cooperative host. He was always there for guests. Breakfast was served early in the morning when we ask for. Very nice interior in berber style.
Review 63:Friendly staff.excellent food. Close to the gorge.
