Reviews for Hotel Palazzo Krataiis
Review 1:Limited breakfast options. Since the hotel does not have an elevator, the reception did not offered to help with carrying the luggage ato the third floor.
Review 2:I hate giving bad reports, most hotels and guest houses really try to be good, and after 35 years in the trade I know just how hard it is. But just occasionally it is necessary to say some thing. Remember this was December, and quite cool day and night; the hot water system is simply not up to the job. The staff suggest waiting 5 mins for the temperature to come up, I could not wait and had a miserable tepid shower after 25 mins. Neither flow nor temperature is sufficient to fill the huge corner spa bath in a week. The management, when informed, refused to hear any criticism, implying it was my fault for not waiting long enough. The second complaint is that when we arrived there was a block of a papery/fiberous matter in the WC. This was drawn to the attention of the young lady behind the reception desk, who promptly produced a rubber glove for my wife to wear to remove the blockage. My jaw dropped. I suggest a course in staff training is badly needed at the Palazzo Krataiis.
Review 3:Scylla is a delightful seaside town with a spectacular location. The great castle rock is seasonally lit and twinkles most festively. The Palazzo Krataiis has been thoughtfully and well modernised, the decor is quirky, but in a good way. The room we had was most generously proportioned and prettily furnished. Breakfast is a step up from the usual as fresh boiled eggs are available.
Review 4:Staff are very pleasant and capable, but a little stuffy
Review 5:Lovely old palazzo; out of season it is quiet and very comfortable. Restaurant is excellent and the location on the sea front is good.
Review 6:Place seemed a little run down, the staff not all that interested in us, the wifi connection didn't work.
Review 7:A grand old hotel but now looking a bit tired. The room was spacious and it was easy enough to park nearby.
Review 8:Fabulous location and beautiful room and really helpful staff. We also had a wonderful meal with great service in the hotel restaurant which was our best dining experience during 3 weeks travelling in Italy.
Review 9:Limited choice for breakfast. Shower not very hot. A bit noisy outside at night.
Review 10:Spacious room with great view. Dinner at restaurant excellent pasta dishes.
Review 11:Nothing.
Review 12:This was a very comfortable hotel, with very friendly staff. Though the hotel itself is small, the rooms are very spacious and the overall feel was of a well run, family hotel.
Review 13:The location was perfect, directly across the road from beach, or a 10/15 minute walk to chianlea. There is also a road train to take you to the top of the City to see monuments and the castle. The room was exceptional, very large full bathroom with spa! Breakfast was great, fresh home made cakes, fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt, toast. The staff were very helpful and even offered my son free cakes in the afternoon. It is a beautiful hotel in an amazing location. We didn't try the restaurant as we only had one night here, but it has very good reviews also. I would definitely stay here again when we are lucky enough to travel to Scilla in the future.
Review 14:WI-fi in bedroom was sometime spotty. But good reception in the lobby.
Review 15:Everything, spacious room, with amenities, little terrace, across from the beach in a beautiful coastal Calabrian town. Restaurant was outstanding.
Review 16:Excellent location, wonderful breakfast. Staff was very accommodating and friendly. Our room had a beautiful view of the sea and the mountains. Within walking distance to Chianalea and many restaurants. Area rug is a bit worn and needed vacuuming when we first arrived which the staff did.
Review 17:It is a tricky place to find but if you are more used to windy narrow Italian village roads than us you should be fine . The wifi did not work in the room but downstairs was fine .
Review 18:A great waterside location in a unique partly cliff top and partly waterfront town . The view of the water across to Sicily and the adjacent castle was a spectacular setting . Staff were friendly and very helpful - really making us feel welcome .
Review 19:No WiFi in rooms, only in reception
Review 20:The location of the hotel is fantastic, with the beautiful beach of Scilla some steps away and the fishermen's area, where great restaurants are placed. The building is awesome and the rooms exceptional!
Review 21:needs some small repairs and maintenance. Hotel will soon need a general update
Review 22:large room, friendly staff. Located in a charming village and next to a fortress and a fishing village
Review 23:Although the location is spectacular, I hate to think about the noise in the summer. It's surrounded by restaurants and bars. We were there in November so it wasn't a problem. They should invest in sound proof windows. The decor is a little tired too.
Review 24:The location, right on the ocean front made it very convenient and the views from the room were spectacular. The staff were very very attentive and helpful. If Scilla is your destination, then this hotel is probably the best in town.
Review 25:Parking is apparently an issue during July/Aug, but we stayed in later September, so no problems. Only complaint is that the Jacuzzi tub we had in the room was a pain...slow warm/hot water and what is it with 1/2 of the light bulbs being burned out. This property needs to updating! On a side note the breakfast room had a gray mouse visitor....not great to see in a 4 star place, but then again 4 stars in Italy is probably 2 stars someplace else.
Review 26:Beach is right out in front of place.
Review 27:This is a great spot for a stopover on the way back to room. Room is spacious and clean and the breakfasts are superb. Make sure you have a meal in the restaurant - we had fresh baked fish that was delicious and served professionally - also received good advice on local wines.
Review 28:We had to check out early morning to catch train so were in abit of a hurry. It wasn't til we were on the train that we realised that we had been overcharged by quite a lot. I will follow this up when I get home. It was a shame as it marred a fantastic stay in Scilla
Review 29:This was a quality hotel, loved it
Review 30:Room smelt musty. Fridge was not working and dangerously hot, when we reported it he just unplugged it and left us without one. Breakfast was terrible, bread and cakes were stale, machinery did not function properly (toaster, egg boiler, juicer), the coffee was very bad (which is simply inexcusable in Italy!) We will not be going back.
Review 31:Staff were friendly, room was large, bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean.
Review 32:Arrived by train bit of a hike but well worth it. Get location, great old hotel great restaurant, we ate on the beach and lots to see. A nice place to relax. Choose to break up our train travels from the Amalfi coast to Sicilia, excellent idea.
Review 33:pity breakfast was a little short on supplies which were not renewed for late-comers.
Review 34:the quality of the room the excellent restaurant first class service
Review 35:Not exactly as the fotos show Scila as village has limited charm dirt fromthe ships cruising the strait of messina
Review 36:good service good restaurant nice beach
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:This was an overnight stop on our way to Sicily and were really pleased to find such a lovely hotel with such friendly and helpful staff. The entire hotel, including our room, is decorated with high quality furnishings and is beautifully designed. The room was large and very comfortable and in the morning we were provided with a delicious breakfast. The hotel is situated a few metres from the beach/lido and in the evening we ate in a very friendly pizzeria. We had planned on parking our car in a garage but in the ended opted to park outside the hotel as it was quite safe.
Review 39:Fantastic location right across the beach towels are provided for you, very helpful staff - excellent Restaurant -food was amazing! Highly recommend a stay at this hotel.

Review 56:Location Breakfast
Review 57:Nothing everything was great.
Review 58:What a lovely hotel and location wish we stayed longer.
Review 59:The hard bed/pillows.
Review 60:The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The junior suite was huge, and had a small balcony with a good view of the sea. Breakfast was ok, good by southern Italian standards.
Review 61:Their restaurant wasn't open since we were there before the busy season. WiFi was not strong enough in the room to connect, but fine in the lobby.
Review 62:This is a great place to stay. Our room was as good or better than advertised. The staff here are excellent.. welcoming and casually competent. They handled any questions and requests with aplomb. Get the sea view if it's available.
Review 63:Was surprised by an upgrade to a huge room with a great view and balcony. Was very nice. Wifi signal quite strong and reliable Decent breakfast. Close to beach. Nice staff. Even flew an American flag in my honor, along side an Irish one apparently for another guest.
Review 64:This is a comfortable 4 star hotel with an excellent restaurant (I did not even go to eat to any other place). Big spacious room with a balcony and a sea view. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Quiet and charming atmosphere.
Review 65:The shower head kept falling and the water wasn't particularly hot.
Review 66:The hotel reception was very clean and presentable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, light, and very clean. The bathroom was also very clean and had ample towels.
Review 67:Breakfast was ordinary.
Review 68:A Grand Hotel perfectly preserved, great location practically on the main beach and a short walk to some great restaurants overlooking the harbour.
Review 69:Absolutely fabulous. This place was a real find. No attention to detail spared with a great location, a stones throw from the beach and friendly staff. The room was tastefully decorated and was more like a 5 star establishment. We wished we could have stayed longer. This was also the only place we have stayed in Italy that included tea and coffee facilities in the room.Their restaurant was also first class.
Review 70:Breakfast wasn't great
Review 71:The hotel is very charming and we liked everything about it. This is a very quiet area in the shoulder and off season, very relaxing and nothing going on, unlike more well known places that are mobbed.
Review 72:water not very hot in shower/bathroom
Review 73:Friendly and helpful staff. Great location. We had large superior room at front. Decoration throughout hotel very elegant. We stayed during off season so hotel was very very quiet.
Review 74:Lovely location, real local feel in very stylish surroundings.
Review 75:Constantine is the best concierge and "do it all" guy.
Review 76:Warm welcome from owner. Spotless room with all usual 5 star trimmings. Excellent breakfast buffet.
Review 77:Breakfast could be better
Review 78:Very nice staffs, comfortable room and good restaurant
Review 79:Friendly Staff, the UK flag was put up for us! Great location, lovely room. Breakfast very good too.
Review 80:Can walk directly from hotel to beach
Review 81:Great location right across from beach. Might be busy in the summer but it was great in October. Lovely room, very good breakfast included.
Review 82:Just about everything you would need for a comfortable stay had been thought of. A thoroughly excellent hotel and wonderful value for money.
Review 83:Parking situation on week-end
Review 84:Restaurant
Review 85:The friendly staff, the design and decor of the hotel, the location and the very comfortable room.
