Reviews for Palmeraie Guest House

Review 1:The parking is on a very steep slope and doesn't feel safe at all.One of the host felt kind of fake with us. He didn't inspired usconfidence. He showed us our room and a spider was on one of thepillow. My girlfriend pointed it to the host and he just picked up thepillow rudely and threw it outside of the room. Unfortunately, I sawthe spider jump from the pillow onto the bed. When I told him, it'slike if he wouldn't believe me. Anyway, my girlfriend asked foranother room and we followed the host in the basement. The basement wascold, old and looked dirty. Our room was very simple and the beduncomfortable. The shared bathroom was dirty and looked like somethingfrom an old shack. The water was never hot. There was also a big insectI don't know what it was, and another one in the dining room. Wedidn't sleep well and it took us a long time to get comfortable, ifwe ever really did.

Review 2:The food was very good for diner as well as for breakfast. The diningroom with the couches is cozy and feel comfortable. The overalllocation, near to the gorges and the palmeraie is great. The walk fromthe guesthouse through the palmeraie is doable by yourself. And by theway, the bridge across the river is about 500 meters on your right whenyou reach the river.

Review 3:Hmmm... I can't actually single out anything that didn't please me, which is very unlike most of my reviews of other places, where I am sure I come across as critical and particular. I'd note here that the room was not cleaned daily -- but it's not a serious defect in this price category. The bed was a little hard, but once again, not a serious defect. I slept well nonetheless. Because Palmeraie is located about 7km outside of Tinghir, and Tinghir is a small town with only occasional taxis -- no buses naturally -- getting in and out of the guest house may prove a little difficult for those without own car.

Review 4:Palmeraie is a villa house set in a palm grove and run by three friendly brothers. Working donkeys laden with goods trot past its front gate every so often. You can't beat this kind of authenticity. The room I had was comfortably sized. It had 3 beds even though I booked a Single. Unfortunately, I wished the room also had a desk. The bathroom was even bigger; a whole volleyball team could shower together in it. The drawback of having a large bathroom was that I couldn't expect the airconditioner to also give it heat. So I had to keep the bathroom door closed, which meant that the bathroom got chilly in the night and early morning. The wifi signal was weak since mine was the furthest room, but it worked. Hot water came on quickly. Water pressure and drainage were excellent. Heating via the airconditioner was effective. Palmeraie was very quiet at night. The terrace was lovely, with views to the mountains not far off. Breakfast was super-substantial, and it was good that it came with fruit. I had dinner at Palmeraie itself on two nights, and the food was great. The owner Rashid was very helpful. The handle of my suitcase broke just as I was arriving in Tinghir town, and the following day he drove me to town to purchase a new one. At the same time, he gave me a personalised tour of the Mellah and other parts of Tinghir -- very much appreciated.

Review 5:Lovely staff and helpful. Beautiful dining room that was heated with a wood burning stove, just for us, on a cold desert night. Glorious terrace and flower garden to sit in as well.

Review 6:Great place to stay, very cosy morrocan restaurant, good food, very friendly owners who will make everything to make your stay more enjoyable. Perfect location.

Review 7:After along drive, we had a great welcoming at the Palmeraie. We have booked a room with shared bathroom and were very thankful when we noticed that the owner decided to upgrade us to a room with own bathroom. Location is beautiful. Great breakfast on the terrace. Wonderful guided tour and delicious lunch afterwards. Comfortable beds. Fresh Roses in the room. Clean and quiet room. We left relaxed and happy.

Review 8:This guest house has got a beautiful location on the edge of palmeraie. We really enjoy the fellowship of berber staff, lovely food and walk through the palmeraie to Todra gorge. Don't expect a luxury but enjoy friendly atmosphere.

Review 9:The place in itself feels very authentic and you feel at home as soon as you step in, with the family running this hotel welcoming you. The food was amazing and I highly recommend the long walk to the gorges through the Palmeraie with the guide from the house!

Review 10:Little bit more care and maintence would make it an excellent place. Perhaps a women's touch to details.

Review 11:Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Eating freshly prepared meals in the pleasant Berber main room with a log burner on cool evenings..

Review 12:WiFi was variable (only access from some areas, and was off some of the time), but that seems common in Morocco. The tour guide was clearly disappointed that we didn't want to go in and have tea with a local carpet-maker (we'd seen plenty already, otherwise we would've been happy to). He cheered up again a bit later and was quite jovial again, but it did make us briefly uncomfortable. Parking was on the road above the guesthouse, about 100m away, with steps down - not an issue for us, but access might be a bit challenging for some.

Review 13:Berber tent on top terrace, next to shade of olive trees & oasis was really nice. Dinner was very tasty. Right next to oasis, so we could go for a walk by ourselves through the locals' farmland. Had a guided tour the next day up to the gorge, who showed us the recent flood damage and told us about the local trees and farming practices. Their donkey called Jack took our luggage back up to the top for us :)

Review 14:Bathroom was not heated so was quite cold to get into at night.

Review 15:Owner and staff very friendly. Delicious breakfast. Big room. Beautiful view. Staff very helpful in carrying my luggage from the road all the way down to the riad back and forth (it's quite a climb).

Review 16:The room is pretty basic and quite cold in winter.

Review 17:Location is perfect for a short walk (2 hours) to the Todra gorge through the Palmeraie (recommended). Helpful staff.

Review 18:Our room was freezing, even with the heater full blast. The reception area was full of cigarette smoke. The staff were responsive but not warm and inviting like in other places. However, we arrived in the dark and may have been the only guests there so that may have added to the dreariness of the place though the dining area and terrace had potential if full of people.

Review 19:Terrific breakfast, one of the best we had in Morocco. We arrived at night and staff met us on the road as soon as we arrived and guided us down the dirt path.

Review 20:Palmeraie is very easy to find, as there is a signboard at the main streat, so it is hard to mis by car. Parking was at the main road and yo need to walk some 50 meters downhill to your acccomodation. The owner wil send someone to bring your luggage to the Guesthouse. Location is very good and they will offer you a local guide to have a walk of some hour and a half throug the oasis. We made it and it was worth seeing it. For the eaving meal we have had tajine and a soup which was delicious, so there was no need to go somewhere else. Next morning we drove to Todra gorge which is only ten minutes driving time away. Highly recommended to everyone

Review 21:Excellent staff, excellent food. Difficult to find but the staff meet you at the top of the hill. Provide guides which take you through the palmeries, which we would definitely recommend.

Review 22:A hidden treasure at an oasis halfway to Todra gorge. Simple but realy nice and homey. If you want great local food ask for dinner, we had the best tagine of our whole Moroccon trip. Would definitly come back.

Review 23:- bicycles we rented were poor quality (one was for 14yr old girl, one with flat tire) - the wifi signal was very poor, don't expect to catch it!

Review 24:Very friendly staff and very good dinner (great and fresh harira!). The terrace is very pleasant place to relax after trekking in Todra Valley :)

Review 25:We had some problems to find the guest house and you definetively need a car to go there.

Review 26:The guesthouse is great, it is nicely decorated, has a lovely terasse and the staff members are really friendly. They served us great dinner and breakfast and we made a nice tour through the oasis and to the Todre Georges. We absolutely recommend this guest house.

Review 27:Hard to find as not on the road but below it down some steep steps so have to leave your car on the road walk down to the guest house and one of the staff will walk back and help with the luggage. If staying only one night probably best to take an overnight bag with all your valuables.

Review 28:The young man who runs the guest house Joab is very friendly and helpful and is an excellent chef as well. If you have the time and like hiking would recommend more than one night and get the boys to guide you through the Valley to Todra Gorge it is a lovely walk.

Review 29:The hotel is difficult to find fromt he road.

Review 30:Staff were very friendly and excellent cooks! We arrived late, asn theysill cooked a delicious meal for us. Room was simple but clean andcomfortable.

Review 31:Hospitality Good food Excellent personnel

Review 32:Shower head broken.

Review 33:The food was great, compliments to the chef! There are many cozy places to enjoy your meals.

Review 34:excelent dinner, owner is very good cook.

Review 35:Very friendly and helpful staff. It is a good place to start the trip in mountains.

Review 36:Bed and bathroom has seen better days! Door to toilet did not close, not practical, when your not a couple.

Review 37:Friendly staff and excellent food!!

Review 38:The best food I ate in Morocco. Great staff

Review 39:quiet place near oasis helpful staff nice terasse with beautiful view

Review 40:Very friendly people and good food

Review 41:Great hospitality of staff of this guest house!!!

Review 42:Nice staff and great evening atmosphere with the tent on the rooftop

Review 43:nothing

Review 44:;the palmeraie, the staff and the typical lunch

Review 45:The guesthouse is situated almost in the palmeraie. The roof-top spots have a view on the palm trees wich is refreshing given the fact that the road is very near.

Review 46:Steep path down to guest house but donkey available to help get bags back up.

Review 47:Easy access to palmeraie. Couple of hours walk to Todra Gorge. Good breakfast, dinners and helpful staff.

Review 48:It wasn't a problem for us (and the staff provided help too) but it is a bit of a hike from the road to the guest house for bringing bags and luggage Also nothing about the guesthouse but the road to Todras Gorge is being widened and it is very slow going and dusty

Review 49:Great people and excellent food both dinner and breakfast It was very quiet We enjoyed the walk in the Palmeraie in the AM and information about Berber culture The terrace is a great spot to overlook the Palmeraie

Review 50:Best Tajin in Morocco. Great location, right above the Oasis and the road that takes you to the Todra Gorge canyon. Huge rooms, tastefully decorated. Beautoful terrace with an authentic berber tent to keep you away from the sun. Friendly staff (they also speak good English).

Review 51:That the place can't be reached by car turned out to be an attraction on account of the donkey Jack, which is a real charmer and furthermore transports all you luggage for a carrot.

Review 52:Run by 3 brothers who do a great job entertaining their guests. Tehy also cook up a authentic Marrocan dinner and help you to find your way into the gorge.

Review 53:The hotel is in a palm grove. There is a dodgy dirt path from the road that was challenging for our suitcases and our feet. That should be fixed. On the way up a poor donkey took our luggage and I felt bad for him. Our car was left up on the road for the night.

Review 54:Small, family run place on a palm grove. We toured the place and were served a lovely dinner; then the guitar came out and we ended up in a sing song with people from Spain as well as the locals.

Review 55:It was a bit confusing to find from the main bus station but the people were helpful to show where to get a taxi.

Review 56:The Guest House is family run and has lovely views from the Terrace, good spacious comfortable rooms, a nice cosy central area inside the main building. The food was really nice both dinner and breakfast. It was great to visit the Gorge and be able to walk back to the Guest House through the Oasis .. guided by one of the brothers. Nice and relaxing.

Review 57:Room had no windows and it was freezing cold. We got a heater, but then there were several electricity cuts and it stayed pretty chilly in the room. Maybe more a summer place and less for the cold season.

Review 58:Owner was helpful and friendly. We could put our motorbikes into a garage about 150m away from the hotel. Wifi worked well. Best coffee so far in Morocco for breakfast.

Review 59:Great place to stay. Very beautiful house with very nice and helpful hosts. They made us the best dinner we had in Morocco in our 11 days trip. Don't hesitate to try the Berber tagine! Breakfast was delicious too. Location is also excellent - few kilometers from Todra Gorge. The terrace of the house is overlooking the Palmeraie . tI was delightful having breakfast there. Highly recommended!

Review 60:Bathrooms, shower was not great and toilet is noisy. Room was very cold. They had an air conditioner with heat, but did not work very well.

Review 61:Staff was amazing. Met us at bus station upon arrival. They cooked amazing dinners each. Complimentary tea whenever we wanted. Helped arrange hiking guide for us. Drove us into town and waited while we ran errands. Drove us to bus station upon departure. And were generally very pleasant to hang out with.

Review 62:Nothing

Review 63:The location was excellent but what we really enjoyed was the outstanding hospitality and kindness of the staff. Everything about our stay was positive and our only regret was that we could not be there longer.

Review 64:The toilets make some noise.

Review 65:The kasbah has a good view at the oasis. You can walk immediately into it. The staff tries to do everything to make it a comfortable stay. The beds are also very good.

Review 66:Very nice riad in a beautiful location, next to palm trees, where you can go for a walk. Riad beautiful, well equipped, staff very friendly, on arrival we immediately took away the luggage. Do Riad goes about 50 meters down the hill, parking on the road without any problems. Breakfast on the terrace, standard. It is possible to order food. Definitely recommend it.

Review 67:Nice palace near by the gorges. Easy to find on the main road to the gorges. Nice and confortable roof. Good kitchen low price. Good breakfast with many choices. Clean room and kind welcome.

Review 68:The room was ok, but it was not perfect. There were a lot of flyes at that place

Review 69:Perfect place, really beautiful terrace, excelent staff, best breakfast in morocco (also very nice dinner, which we saw how they made, since we were invited in the kitchen). All in all I was really satisfied and I definately recommend it.

Review 70:The water does not drain from the shower you have to do it by hand.

Review 71:The staf were very friendly and the food was exceptional. It is not luxe but expiersing the country life. It is very quite and enjoying the peace. No tv no radio, just quite

Review 72:They were updating facility so a lot of workers around during day. Some rooms did not have hot water due to work.

Review 73:Located in a great city. We arrived late but were warmly welcomed. Short taxi ride to great shopping. Wonderfully hiking trails. Charming facility

Review 74:Beware of recommendation of the chef who lives in the guest house. Hetook us to his friend's shop to get 'cheap' veils for ourdesert trip. The friend got us special price only 150% more than firstother guy from the street. So disappointed that almost everyone inMorocco wants to take advantage of you and pulls their hand for money.

Review 75:Location was very good. You can take a walk to palmarie which is locatedoutside the guest house. Inside the palmarie there are ruins of an anold kasbah to see. Food was excellent but a bit pricey.

Review 76:There is a steep descent of ~50 steps to the guest house - would be of concern to those with physical disabilities. Also the shower and lights in my room were not working properly.

Review 77:Very friendly staff, great food and great post-dinner hospitality.

Review 78:the place is just perfect. inslide an oasis. if you sleep there be sure you take a walk inside the oasis. it is magical. the staff is very friendly and helpfull. we will return there soon!

Review 79:Absolutely suitable for more than one night. Decent food. Breakfast overlooking the garden.

Review 80:The Guest house was very cold. The Host offered us the heater , but for additional price.

Review 81:The Guest house is in mountains ,so You do think about it.

Review 82:The showers are not warm in the morning

Review 83:Very warm welcome, great food, nice hosts and nice dining room

Review 84:Bathroom

Review 85:Location ideal to walk in the palmeraie. Helpful staff.

Review 86:Jaward cooked amazing food every day for us. The family help in many ways to make sure the stay is perfect

Review 87:Nice spot directly beside the palmeraie with several nice terraces and also not far from the Todrha Gorge

Review 88:Dinner in the salon was exceptionally good intrue Moroccan style. Thestaff was alot of fun and entertaining! Thanks for having us!

Review 89:Simple rooms

Review 90:Very friendly staff
