Reviews for Buena Vista
Review 1:Our room was on the small side but we knew that when we booked and the beds a bit hard but that seems fairly standard in Japan.
Review 2:This is a hotel with a 5 star feel. Outstanding friendly service. The breakfast room is on the top floor with amazing views of the city and mountains. Fantastic array to choose from - both western and Japanese. They have a free shuttle service to a sister hotel in the surrounding mountains for Onsen every night if you wish. Also have free use of bicycles to ride anywhere in the city. Marsumoto is very safe to ride around and quite flat, so easy riding. Also free shuttle to and from station although not far to walk. Would definitely choose to stay again if could.
Review 3:My daughter said it was a bit like staying at IKEA.
Review 4:Helpful staff, even tracked me down to return reading glasses I left in my room on checkout. Organised transfers and were very polite. Good rooms and facilities.
Review 5:The bedroom was very hot and we couldn't change the temperature, we managed to open window on second night.
Review 6:Great dinning room with fabulous views. Excellent location, handy shuttle bus from station.
Review 7:There is no distinct separation of smoking/non smoking rooms during the reservation process - it took us 2 hours of negotiations to get a non smoking room
Review 8:Breakfast and amazing dining room, free bicycle and train station shuttle, nice big rooms.
Review 9:The bedroom was small as with many Japanese hotels. However, it was also cluttered and did not allow much space for luggage..not that we had a lot. The chair and table were welcome but I am not sure why large humidifiers in the room are necessary. Trouser presses I can understand but I wonder how often they are used.
Review 10:The friendly staff, the impressive buffet breakfast, the ambience of the foyer and shuttle service to the station were aspects we really appreciated during our stay at this hotel. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom adequate.
Review 11:When we arrive in the hotel we through it is good hotel, when we check into the room, there is no air condition in the room and all the public area during the hot weather. The hotel staff is not helpful but we understand them because they are working in this hot environment with winter uniform... we were feel sorry for them. The hotel staff ask us to open window but when we open window just few second there is two fly come into the room... We ask for anything to control the insect the response is again " No they don't have". We are surprise such a nice hotel building but without the basis need require from customer (no air condition in smoking room). This is the hotel we will never recommend and we will never come again.
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:Booked on line requesting "non-smoking" but placed on smoky rooms. talked with the manager and was told this is a booking site problem in this regard.
Review 14:Location was good.
Review 15:I booked a non-smoking room and when we arrived they gave us a room on a smoking floor. Apparently they had "prepared" the room especially for us so it would be non-smoking. Not sure what this means but it still smelled like cigarette and it was an old room, felt like being in a motel from the 90s. Since travelling with a baby, we refused to stay in this room and had to argue to get a real non-smoking room. We got a really nice renovated NS room after discussion. I would not go back unless the rooms are all renovated.
Review 16:Renovated room on the 9th floor. Comfortable and modern room, large bathroom in the twin room. The lady from the shuttle bus and the staff at the conciergerie were very nice.
Review 17:The room should have never been sold as a double. It was obviously a single room. When we arrived, there was only one set of towels, toothbrush, etc.
Review 18:courteous staff
Review 19:I asked for a non smoking room, but it had obviously been smoked in. To their credit they changed us to another room. (Disappointingly, Japan allows indoor smoking at other guests health expense, disgusting!)
Review 20:Great range of choice for breakfast. The Executive Lounge was a nice touch, thank you to Miwa for her excellent service.
Review 21:We booked 2 rooms one for us as a couple and one for our 16 yr old son. Although we had ailed them and requested his room to be near ours they put him 2 floors down and in a smoking room. Our room also had a slight smell of smoke although it was a non smoking floor. When we asked to change our sons room they were very obliging but he was still placed on another floor.
Review 22:Close to the train station and hotel bus picked us up at the train station and was waiting for us. Great for a 1 night stay to visit Matsumoto Castle and then head off the next day. Staff were very helpful if we had any inquiries. The executive rooms on Floor 12 allow you free access to the lobby lounge where you get free drinks and nibblies. Loved the big open fire in the foyer.
Review 23:The lights in the hallway were very dim (not a huge problem)
Review 24:The service was amazing...the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Free loan bikes were useful to use to explore Matsumoto. Room was very clean and comfortable Good WiFi
Review 25:Size of room small for price we paid.
Review 26:Matsumoto City Modern Hotel Executive Floor Modern Room but small Transport Bus from station with excellent Lady Driver Lovely Japanese Restuarant Check in at sit down desk
Review 27:Even if it's very close to the station(5 min walking), they have a shuttle which is very convenient if you have heavy bagage. Everyone is very kind and willing to help if you need the hotel is beautiful, clean and breakfast is good
Review 28:The room I had was relatively small - a common occurrence in Japan - and the mattress was as hard as a rock. I was told (too late) to ask the staff to add a futon mattress to the bed.
Review 29:The hotel's location - a few minutes away from the JR train station - was wonderful. There are many nice stores and restaurants just steps away. The staff is extremely pleasant and helpful.
Review 30:5 to 10mins walk from the station
Review 31:Reserved on the executive floor and the staff can speak English escorted me to the room.all the staff I met was so friendly and good smile.buffet breakfast was also yummy.will def come back again
Review 32:good service and nice workers
Review 33:Free coffee or tea in the lobby! This was the first time we experienced this in Japan.
Review 34:Lovely clean room and easy access to the station and town
Review 35:This hotel located not far from station and has shuttle bus which really helpful to travel to and from matsumoto station.
Review 36:area too small
Review 37:everything in the room are of top notch quality
Review 38:We paid extra for the executive level but the service in the downstairs lounge was almost non existent.
Review 39:Location, helpful trip desk.
Review 40:No English TVchanells
Review 41:Very close to train station. Great value for money.Friendly staff.
Review 42:No complaints.
Review 43:Hotel shuttle to/from train station (also easily walked). Had a great martini with expansive view in the Sky Bar.
Review 44:No onsen but they provide a free transfer to a sister hotel which has onsen
Review 45:Stuff was very helpful and good value for money
Review 46:The quality/price ratio has been the best so far in my 14 days trip in Japan. The hotel has been recently renovated, I highly recommend it!
Review 47:The earthquake! I thought the announcement to the guests after the first tremor could have been earlier.
Review 48:This hotel doesn't reflect the Japanese approach in making good.
Review 49:Parking under the hotel is quite limited. They offer remote parking nearby, but it is a bit to far to walk in the rain. If the breakfast costs more reasonable, it would be great.
Review 50:We're transit at this hotel for 1 night only, during our road trip from tokyo to takayama. We check in very late at night. We booked 2 rooms. At first we're given smoking room, but we mention that we need non smoking room as requested on the booking cause our children quite sensitive to smoke, the staffs immediately upgrade all our rooms to executive suites. The room are very spacious with very nice amenities. And the staffs are really friendly.
Review 51:Rooms furniture/carpeting etc could do with an upgrade, however everything was functional, and the beds were comfy.
Review 52:Free shuttle to station, Close to Sightseeing bus terminal. Breakfast was good, and also well priced, with a great view from the top floor of the hotel while you eat looking out over Matsumoto and the mountains.
Review 53:Requested a non-smoking room which was not available upon check-in. Negotiated with 3 staff members to move us and were presented with an upgrade to a superior room. Superior room was more clean, but still in the smoking section of the hotel. Not impressed that we weren't told before arriving
Review 54:Location was excellent - Hotel reception and corridors were very good
Review 55:The location to the train station and central Matsumoto was good. The hotel has a shuttle that takes guests between the train station and the hotel. Even if you miss the shuttle, it's quite walkable (less than 10 min) to the center of town.
Review 56:The colors of the room : brown and beige. The hotel lobby, too large and impersonal. The dinner buffet restaurant: average and disapointing
Review 57:Very friendly staff ! We were offered a suite although we had reserved a normal room. Breakfast restaurant on the 14th floor with an impressive view;
Review 58:No block out curtains just timber venetians which didn'tclose properly
Review 59:Although only a few minutes walk to the station, there is a shuttle bus(nice touch, especially as we had quite a lot of luggage). Very friendlystaff, we paid an extra ¥1,000 per night for an upgrade to the Executivefloor, although not Executive as we know, the room was good, renovatedbut paintwork and furniture quite chipped. Bathroom small but spotlesslyclean. Foyer has an amazing fire (we sat there and had coffee and cakes- cakes to die for! We also had drinks one evening in the bar on the topfloor, great view, loved it.
Review 60:I didn't like that a breakfast meal option wasn't added on yoursite (booking.com) but as we were checking in we were offered thebreakfast buffet option, which by the way, was very good.
Review 61:I liked the lobby of the hotel. I loved the fireplace. After beingoffered the breakfast buffet, we enjoyed the breakfast food. Thevariety was good.
Review 62:There was absolutly no shelve to put your things.
Review 63:Good location with nice little spa. We appreciated the quiet room and a good dinner.
Review 64:English-speaking and very efficient and knowledgeable staff. Great breakfast with awesome views around the restaurant!
Review 65:The buffet was excellent value for money; the English speaking concierge was very helpful; and there was a courtesy bus to the station.
Review 66:Above all the attentiveness and kindness of the hotel staff
Review 67:Furnishing of the room and bathroom is a bit old
Review 68:Helpful and friendly staff, clean spacious room, free shuttle from/to train station, location
Review 69:Wifi only in the lobby, not in the rooms.
Review 70:Everything. Convenient shuttle service from JR station. Without shuttle only a 7-minute walk anyway.
Review 71:Dusty under bed, moldy, location not friendly for street walk, short of four stars expection
Review 72:Shuttle service
Review 73:This hotel was excellent and cheap. The rooms and facilities were comfortable and the view from the stylish top floor bar was very nice at night.
