Reviews for Hotel Tomboctou

Review 1:The location is a short walk off the center, which makes it quiet and calm. The patio with pool is beautiful, and staff was among the most helpful on our trip.

Review 2:Nice casbah with a touch of local history. Very good pastilla at the restaurant - i am sure that the rest is also good! Reasonable prices and selection for alcoholic drinks.

Review 3:Very nice kasbah that has tastefully been transformed into a hotel, interior is stunning, rooms vary from small to big, great view from rooftop terrace and good food in the desert-tent styled restaurant

Review 4:This hotel seems traditional Moroccan. I am sure the staff will get you whatever you want, whenever you want it. Bottled water from reception, best to go to cafe on main road for WiFi. Very interesting to go in High season I imagine.

Review 5:Wonderful building, you will sleep within the kasbah walls in a room with a tiny window piercing the meter thick walls. Wonderful smell of cedar wood and high quality furnishings. Room lovely and warm. Good Morroccan wine available -

Review 6:The bathroom smelt really bad even after we tried to air it out and sprayed cologne

Review 7:Beautiful old building in great condition. Dinner was wonderful. Friendly staff!

Review 8:The room was not comfortable. The road to the hotel was dark and fool if mud. No disent enterance to the hotel, it was isolated and fell like prison.

Review 9:Some of the staf was very nice.

Review 10:Dirty and old Pool Shower was broken Scary african pictures and masks in room decoration Breakfast buffet had medium quality

Review 11:Location Chance to sleep in a Kasbah

Review 12:Wifi appeared to be a mystery to the staff, you may have better luck than us, hope so. The restaurant evening meal was pretty poor, but we were in ramadan and food doesn't appear to be high on the locals priority list.

Review 13:Fantastic building and the swimming pool was a blessing. Bedroom was also amazing, just what you imagine for a romantic desert adventure

Review 14:Nothing bad but when you find this place on a side street and basically park in dirt lot in front of the hotel you wonder what you're getting into but it isn't bad once inside.

Review 15:Stayed in Tinehir as a stopover coming from Merzouga and wanted to see the Todra and Dades gorges. The place doesn't look like much from the outside but once you get in it's a pretty nice facility with the décor, pool, architecture and art work. We were shown a couple of rooms to choose from which was nice. Rooms were fine and large enough and air condition worked well. Staff was very friendly and spoke English. Had dinner at the hotel on our only night here and the food was fine and they also serve beer and wine which is not a given in most places in Morocco. Breakfast was a small buffet which included a little more (i.e.eggs) than a lot of comparable places. Not much in Tinehir area other than the gorges but if you're in the area this place is worth a night.

Review 16:We stayed in the hotel just for one night. The hotel is a former kasbah and therefore it has an interesting atmosphere. The decoration in african style is impressive. There is a swimming pool in the courtyard which is pleasant addition after a long day sightseeing out in the sun. The parking is in front of kasbah. The staff was friendly. The dinner was based on a three-course meal from menu. We enjoyed it together with a bottle of wine. We had only problems with wi-fi which was probably not working properly, but we stayed just one night so we didn't ask for resolution. We recommend this hotel.

Review 17:Excellent staff, great atmosphere, like an oasis with a swimming pool in the courtyard beneath the kasbah, availability of beer and wine, lovely food, secure parking of motorbikes out front, comfortable air conditioned rooms

Review 18:slightly noisy, restaurant in a large weatherproof tent (neither of which is that significant)

Review 19:decor and ambience of a large Moroccan hotel with nice features,

Review 20:I liked it all! impressive building, deco with taste and a real african touch - all is functional, restaurant is good and the staff was friendly and helpful

Review 21:Restaurant on premisis. Breakfast good. Pool a nice addition. We were on a motorcycle, so we were able to park close buy. Reception staff speak several languages. They offer travel services. David was especially helpful and nice. Hasam also nice.

Review 22:We arrived real late and the restaurant was closing in 2 minutes. We hadn't had anything to eat for awhile and they said they would stay open for us and cooked us 3 good meals with a couple of beers. The staff was always available and helpful. The patio area with pool is great after a long day sightseeing out in the sun. Parking is a block away, off site and is locked for security. Breakfast was buffet style and was good to start the day off. One of the better ones we had in Morocco. We recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Review 23:The price of food / beer. Staff not always around. Firmness of bed.

Review 24:The fact the serve drinks with ice! The rooms are beautiful. The pool was perfect.

Review 25:The quirky decor

Review 26:Atmospheric hotel with helpful staff and delicious food.

Review 27:all ok.

Review 28:Staff, pool and dinner. Really enjoyed the African Art displaced around the Hotel.

Review 29:Poor location

Review 30:A very lovely Kasba. Fantastic collection of ancient carpet and crafts. Very kind staff

Review 31:Design of the Kasbah. Spacious and clean double room. Lovely African artworks. Nice garden and plunge pool.

Review 32:Very helpful--they even took us to the bus station in their own car!

Review 33:location of the hotel and the city it self

Review 34:nice hotel, nice pool, nice staff

Review 35:we were alone in this hotel. the feel was very strange.

Review 36:the town is not interesting but you can use this place as a base for trips into the Gorges

Review 37:Beautifully furnished with art pieces to reflect the theme of each room and the pool

Review 38:Conveniently located to the centre of town. Decent facilities.

Review 39:The pool, the outdoor areas, the food, the access to wines and beers....

Review 40:Fantastic place, Nice staff, beautiful kasbah, Nice swimmingpool (little bit cold).

Review 41:-Staff -Pool -Breakfast -Restaurant

Review 42:Need to cover ALL food from flies

Review 43:Room, toilett, displayed handcrafts

Review 44:Entrance doesn't do it any favours, could put people off if they don't get to see that it is actually a restored kasbah, but you only see this once you go through past the reception desk

Review 45:Loved the decor and collections of Malian artefacts. Great pool, comfortable bedroom, aircon. Good breakfast.

Review 46:Beautiful kasbah. Room was comfortable, large, and clean. Pool was clean and had a separate section for small children. Pleasant restaurant in the courtyard with good food. Recomended.

Review 47:Really liked the hotel. But it was slightly difficult to find, there was a sign on the main road but not as big as I was expecting. Nice pool. Heating in the rooms if needed can be turned on (THAT WAS AMAZING as March nights are slightly cold). Comfortable beds, nice and clean bathroom.

Review 48:It is 50Euros per night, which is expensive for Morroco.

Review 49:The best hotel we have stayed in Morroco. Extremely well decorated inside a rennovated old kashab.

Review 50:At night on the streets in Tinerhir there a mostly men, so I didn't feel tempted to stay on a terrace. Finding a good restaurant nearby was difficult.

Review 51:We stayed in this hotel on our way to Merzouga and were nicely surprised by the beautifull room and friendly staff. The hotel owns a private parking and a beautifull garden/poolside which felt like an oasis. The room was really spacious and the kasbah looks mysterious. When we couldn't find a restaurant to eat, the staff prepared us a really nice meal next to the pool. I would loved to have stayed a little longer at this hotel!

Review 52:The location was a bit strange - off the Main Street, but on anotherbusy street with many kids hanging around outside. The entrance is viathe door for the restaurant. Parking is secure on another street.

Review 53:The room was nice (if a little hot) and the hot shower was great. Dinnerwas delicious and the breakfast buffet good. The pool was nice but alittle cool for us - in October, though others did seem to enjoy theirdip! The staff were also very helpful but have yet to contact me aboutsomething we inadvertently left in the room :(

Review 54:Traditioanal Morrocan Hotel. From the outside, you do not expect this 'kasbah style' hotel. The rooms were clean with airconditioning and a nice swimmingpool.

Review 55:Limited options on the menu. Breakfast was a little stale and melon was defrosted which is a shame when there is an abundance of fresh goods available in the area.

Review 56:An impressive kasbah providing a peaceful and cool stop off on a long journey. The pool is lovely and the sun loungers very comfy. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 57:There was no hot watter in the room. There was a mosque close to the hotel. At 05:45 it started to sound noisly the call.

Review 58:Nice refurbished old Ksar. Friendly staff. My gf forgot her bag in the restaurant, and the hotel owner, quickly brought it to our room.

Review 59:Swimming pool is a little tired

Review 60:Good location for Todra Gorge and friendly welcome -they serve alcohol at reasonable price and food good. Room was warm (winter stay) and staff are lovely giving sound local advice.

Review 61:nothing

Review 62:The staff is amazing and helpful, 5 minutes by feet from the center.

Review 63:bar was poorly stocked

Review 64:location and style

Review 65:No TV! Makes a cold winter's night very long.

Review 66:Tastefully decorated rooms, lovely Kasbah atmosphere, excellent bathroom, good food.

Review 67:Food exceptional

Review 68:Would've liked wifi in the room

Review 69:Historical information, pool, manager

Review 72:Not quite up to scratch

Review 73:Faded charm

Review 74:Felt not really personal, staff was friendly but no 'click'
