Reviews for Hotel Scilla

Review 1:Excellent family-owned hotel in Scilla, when I checked they gave me a map of places to see and restaurants to try. I like a firm bed so I slept really well here. Everything was clean and the breakfast is good. I visited Scilla because I have family from there. Well, everyone at Hotel Scilla treated me like family, too, and that made my trip all the more special. Great cappuccino for breakfast!

Review 2:Owner and staff were very helpful. Drew us maps to see bronzes of Reggie Calabria including parking and a great gelateria. They also offered navigation help for Scilla and restaurants. Room was large and breakfast was nice.

Review 3:The staff were very unhelpful and not very warm. There was a brochure on their front desk that said they offer free transport to ferry ports and train stations and when we got there the lady charged us $15 euros and was really aggressive and angry about having to drive us there.

Review 4:The hotel had a nice balcony with a good view and was a story walk to restaurants and the piazza.

Review 5:Staff were very helpful, with suggestions of places to see and eat in Scilla. We accidentally left something behind and it was there when we called back 10 days later.

Review 6:It's a long way down to the coastal strip on foot and there's no free parking - but you can use the mini-train, or park at the station for free!

Review 7:The owners were very warm and welcoming, giving us lots of useful information about the area. Breakfasts were excellent with a wide variety of options: fresh fruits, juices, freshly made coffee. tea, croissants, lovely bread, homemade jams, ham, cheese etc There is free parking nearby. There's a mini-train which takes you down to the coast, running every 15 mins or so, and costing only 1 Euro.

Review 8:The hotel has an elegant air about it ,the minite you step through the door it welcomes you .The staff are so helpful and attentive it ticks all the right boxes .

Review 9:The under parking is so tight we were not game to use it.

Review 10:The day manager Niciletta was a wealth of information and hospitality. She is a major asset for Scilla Hotel

Review 11:It was traditional Italian place with an elegantly modern decor, excellently positioned, warm atmosphere, very friendly owners made us feel very welcome, service outstanding, will definitely stay there again

Review 12:Comfortable and spacious room with a great view. Good parking space. Location of B&B within easy walking distance of harbour, castle, beach etc. Scilla is very picturesque

Review 13:Nothing bad to say about the place!

Review 14:Very friendly hospitable owners, lovely rooms, spacious, clean, can't fault it, loved the marble staircase, kids (and us!) loved the size of the bedroom, would definitely recommend this hotel and stay there again without a doubt.

Review 15:The young receptionist went out of her way to be helpful by speaking English and explaining where to go. She was lovely. Her restaurant recommendation was spot on. Worth upgrading to top floor with fantastic views. Would definitely use this B&B again.

Review 16:Nothing

Review 17:Very warm welcome; home made breakfast. Very clean and nice rooms. Very beautiful location. The lady of the house was very friendly and helpful. Price/quality : very good

Review 18:Mother and daughter hosts were very helpful. The room we had was very spacious and comfortable. The hotel was easy to find and had a good breakfast. The restaurant recommendations were excellent. We enjoyed our time in this small town by the sea.

Review 19:Unfortunately, the time of year we stayed in Scilla was after the season so most decent restaurants were not open. No hordes of tourists (good) not many places to eat (bad).

Review 20:We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the hotel. The location was perfect, the staff very friendly and guest oriented. The hotel and the town were excellent destinations for us on our way to Sicily.

Review 21:WiFi a bit sporadic. Not related to the hotel, but made the mistake of dining at Restaurante la Fiocina. Location and food was good but a total rip off as far as pricing. Claimed they didn't have a menu & served the most expensive items as though they were the plate of the day.Avoid at all cost!

Review 22:Very helpful staff. Provided maps and lots of suggestions of interesting things to see in town. A/C was great.

Review 23:There's not much to dislike. If anything goes wrong, it will be put right without delay. If you are used to 5-Star comforts and can't do without them, this hotel is probably not for you. It is a small, friendly, family-run hotel with acceptable levels of comfort and cleanliness at a reasonable price.

Review 24:The main memory of our stay at Hotel Scilla will be the warmth and friendliness of the proprietors and their daughter, Nicoletta (whose English is very good). Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel at home from the very start. The rom had a very nice balcony with views over the Scilla rooftops to the Straits of Messina.

Review 25:Super friendly staff, the owners passionately sit with you to give you advice about the local sights and tours in the region. Comfortable rooms, nice breakfast, breathtaking views from the rooms at the top floor.

Review 26:The staff was really kind and helpful. The hotel is comfortable and quiet. On top, Scilla is a little jewel: at a 2 minutes-walk from the hotel you can enjoy amazing landscapes featuring the coasts of both Calabria and Sicily.

Review 27:Staff were amazing from the moment we walked in - We felt very welcomed The town of Scilla is private, nice, easy going - nothing fancy - but that's exactly what we wanted! 10/10

Review 28:Nothing.

Review 29:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Helped with luggage and parking our vehicle. Lots of tips on local attractions. Bed was comfortable and bathroom good size.

Review 30:Hotel ben situato a 200 m a piedi del centro di Scilla, camera tranquilla e pulita con balcone, bel terrazzo con vista mare per la colazione; staff molto accogliente, disponibile. Ci hanno dato molti consigli utili. / Very well located hotel, 200m walk from the town center square; clean and quiet room with a balcony, nice terrace with sea view for breakfast. Super friendly staff, they went out of their way to help us and gave us useful advice.

Review 31:The staff were great very accomodating especially Nicoleta an absolute pleasure to deal with went out of her way in every detail we arrived late for breakfast and even though everything was almost removed the owner a lovely lady was very quick to organize what we wanted for a lovely breakfast on the outdoor terrace this beautifully decorated hotel has. Even though the hotel is away from the main touristy part of Sicila it is definetly worth staying there the place is very well kept and the staff top notch and only a 10 minute walk to the hustle and bustle of Scilla or a 5 minute Scilla taxi ( very original) ride away for 4€. I would stay there again for sure.

Review 32:well this village is such a pretty place coming from Portofino it was a surprize to see Scilla untouched by all fake tourist stuff, the owners Mino and fortunata were so helpful Mino offered to take us the ferry terminal and the beach at no charge, just terrific people and hotel thanks for a great stay it's people like you that make Italy what it is.

Review 33:The staff is really friendly of this family run business and the view from the balcony is excellent. Close to everything, you just need to walk a bit but it's worth ;)

Review 34:THE fourniture of the room was not my taste. the room smelled smoky. The breakfastroom was too small.

Review 35:THe staff was friendly. The location was good nearby the harbour and center of the village. The balcony was great.

Review 36:Breakfast could be a little better.

Review 37:The hotel was in a good location at the top of the town. The staff were very helpful. And the room was comfortable.

Review 38:Room with no sound proof. Neighbor had TV on until midnight. Mattress is awful. Had a restless night.

Review 39:Staff we're exceptional. Great value for money. We really enjoyed our short stay and look forward to returning

Review 40:shower head was poor. the breakfast could have had a little bit more variety

Review 41:the staff was excellent. the room was very clsean

Review 42:The triple room didn't have a balcony as asvertised, unreliable wifi service.

Review 43:Friendly and helpful staff

Review 44:Bathroom fixtures need to be renewed.

Review 45:Very friendly family run business.

Review 46:everything

Review 47:nothing

Review 48:A long way from the beach, a very steep climb down and then back up again.

Review 49:Sea view. Lovely town.

Review 50:Every room has a balcony overlooking the village. This way it was easy breathing the atmosphere of the place.

Review 51:The view, the staff, nearby parking lot.

Review 52:Good location (walking distance city); nice view, nice balcony. Good room, nice people, good breakfast. Spotless clean.

Review 53:A good value hotel in easy walking distance to the old section and beach.

Review 54:The view, interior design, staff was very helpful despite they couldn't speak english very well

Review 55: Staff very helpful about advices on what to do and see in Scilla and around  Spacious room

Review 56:all good

Review 57:A jewel in the crown. A most unexpected but pleasant stay in a lovely little village with great views and extremely friendly staff

Review 58:Friendly and helpful staff. Hotel decor enhanced our stay.

Review 59:Great little seaside village with some good sea food and beaches. Nice hotel.

Review 60:The owner was very helpful and very well coming. The hotel is in a very typical Italian village area. We used to love walking around the streets there. ATM is just beside hotel entry.

Review 61:There was nothing we disliked about the hotel.

Review 62:We arrived with quite a lot of luggage and the staff helped us in withthe luggage and as our vehicle was to tall for the garage, they told uswhere to park as there was a camera to watch the car.During our stay as I have a heart problem and some of the hills are quite steep the owner took us in their own vehicle to a trattoria, which we thought was a very kind gesture. All the staff were very friendly; the rooms were clean and very tastefully furnished and we would definitely consider using the hotel again.

Review 63:The low ceiling. I hit my head twice and I'm a woman 5'6". They had no breakfast and no one came out when I rang the bell very hard two times. So It is not a B & B. There WAS food out from either very early morning (we were there at 8am) or from the day before and not cleaned up. Which I think was the case. I'm pretty easy to please and this place was not pleasing!

Review 64:Location was good.

Review 65:The decor and furnishings are very tired. Our room had a slanted ceiling and my husband could not walk around the room without stooping down.

Review 66:The staff was helpful and we were able to park nearby in a free lot.

Review 67:we found the owner Signora Fortunata a very charming lady indeed. The Hotel is simple, clean, convenient for trattorias in upper Scilla, convenient for ferries to Messina, with handy parking. A good overnight

Review 68:Although the hotel looked like it was metres from the sea on a map, it was actually a couple of hundred metres above sea level. There were lots of stairs down the cliff to the sea. We'd recommend taking a car or taxi down to the sea front.

Review 69:We stayed in a lovely third floor room, with fantastic views over to Sicily, the Aeolian islands and of course the blue blue sea! The staff were very friendly with advice of where to eat and places to see in Scilla. Breakfast was made up of a simple pastry with coffee and a small buffet offering yoghurts, fruit and cereal. Parking moments from the hotel and staff carried our luggage up to our room! Comfortable, good value and would recommend a stay at Hotel Scilla.

Review 70:not really "hotel", more a B+B in an older part of town

Review 71:Good location, walking distance to all sights. Friendly staff, clean rooms and free parking.

Review 72:wonderfull hotel!!! everything was great: room, view, hostess. hotels owner are very kindly and helpfull. the way to the beach is not for lazy and fat people, but it's not problem: if you want they takes you to the beach by car.

Review 75:Myself and wife had a long drive to the hotel that day, having booked only the day before as we needed a location close to the ferry across to Messina. It was refreshing to be greeted by the owner whom was only too helpfull and friendly, and his daughter also. We had a comfortable stay and can highly recommend this Hotel.

Review 76:My family and I planned a one-night stay at Hotel Scilla and wish we could have planned for more. Scilla is a delightful and interesting town; we found the cleanest, clearest water on their rocky beach that we have ever seen. Hotel Scilla is well located in the upper part of the city, near the steps that brought us down to the lower part. The room was clean and comfortable; the staff is helpful and kind. And, of course, the breakfast was wonderful.

Review 77:The breakfast was a bit limited but plenty to start the day.

Review 78:The staff were very friendly and advised us where to eat and printedmaps out for our trip to the mountains. Changed the room for our son andhis girlfriend to a better one with a balcony and sea view. Lovelyspacious rooms.

Review 81:The owners were delightful, helpful, even willing to pick us up after dinner...due to endearing labyrinth of ancient streets and steps. A charming intimate little town with a spirit..

Review 82:It's a nice structure on the hill overlooking the sea, with a beautiful view, and right out of the highway's exit. The owner is very attentive and passionate, and she prepares wonderful sweets. The city is worthy a visit.
