Reviews for Hofslund Fjord Hotel
Review 1:The hallway and the room looked worn out. The double room and bathroom are too small. Maybe due to the off season (end of August), Sogndal had very limited number of restaurant choices.
Review 2:LOCATION: Good location overlooking the Sognefjord, good base for exploring the fjord district. Easy walk to the restaurants in the tiny town. A few minutes of walk to a supermarket (to buy fruit). ACCESS: Very easy with a car once get into the town, free parking for guests on site. ROOM (203): A double room with a fjord view. The full size (~ queen size) bed was comfortable. The room entrance has 2 doors, not sure the reason for that. The room was rather small, but has a desk and a chair (no safe, nor refrigerator). The deco looks old. The whole room feels a cheap Holiday Inn room. BATHROOM: Tiny (~ 3 times as large as an airplane WC) yet efficient: the shower unit was formed by 2 folding doors at the corner. When use, you push the doors out to make an enclosed area about 1 sq meter. The doors sealed very well, and the water drains via a drainage on the floor. The sink size was reasonable. It has some built-in shelf area on the wall. While the room looks old, the bathroom. Sound of other people talking can be heard via the ventilation system, so as the cigarette smoking smell (wonder if others can hear your talk also). BREAKFAST/BUFFET (included in the room rate): On the simple side, no fruit. The elegant dining area also has a very pleasant view of the fjord, and with photos of the family and the hotel history. INTERNET: Free Wi-Fi was provided with a reasonable speed. The English TV channel was SkyNews World news. OTHER: The building looks rather cute (quite a few building in Sogndal with the same style). The hotel has plenty of parking spaces especially it was off-season at the end of August. No elevator.
Review 3:Rooms are not very big nor very modern, but they are confortable and very clean.
Review 4:Very kind staff. Breakfast buffet was nice and offered good selection (better than expected from other reviews we read).
Review 5:the dinner buffet and breakfast is just so so. the choice is limited.
Review 6:the hotel is run by the family. the staff is nice and room is very beautiful and facing the fjord. they give me a double room, cleaning and bright.
Review 7:Two floors with no lift and if you arrive from central station there is a long way across the hill to reach the hotel by walking.
Review 8:Very Nice room inside the hotel with all comforts and excellent choice of internal arrangements.
Review 9:At first I was a little disappointed by the small room and less-than-modern bathroom, but by the second day I realized it was authentic and charming.
Review 10:The manager and staff were absolutely wonderful - friendly and helpful.
Review 11:The warmth of the welcome and the friendliness of the staff. Perfect location for an evening of gazing across the fjord (although the traffic on Monday morning was a bit louder than anticipated!)

Review 16:Bathroom a bit small, but functional
Review 17:We had 2 fjord view rooms with beautiful outlook. After arriving late in the evening on the ferry, the hotel had reserved us a nice view table at the evening buffet, which was much appreciated. Staff was helpful and personable. You can tell they care about customers having a good experience and we highly recommend the property both for their attention to details and the beautiful location. Appreciated the magnifying mirror in the bath too!
