Review 32：Matsumoto... My opinion is that Matsumoto is over-estimated in some book guides. Takayama is much more interested in term of traditional old neighborood, atmosphere, restaurants,.... If not, the prices of the hotels in Matsumoto would not have been twice cheaper in August...

Review 55：I actually had a very unfortunate experience with the staff. They didn't realize I spoke Japanese, so while I was sitting and waiting in the lobby, the staff and another customer spoke about the way I was dressed saying that I was "not beautiful" and that I looked "weird". I felt that their comments were really unprofessional, and offensive. After they found out that I spoke Japanese they apologized and tried to brush it off; but the damage had been done. The hotel is located in that street at the left side at just 2 minutes from the entrance of the station. Leaving the busstation you will have to cross the square first to get at the train station. From the hotel is a 12 minute walk to Matsumoto Castle. Very friendy staff. English spoken. Comfortable and clean (but small) room and bathroom. (Standard size of Japanese hotelrooms). Good breakfast. From 7 am. Choice between different Japanese breakfasts.

Our room was at the back so we were near the railroad tracks but it was not noticeable. The hotel had laundry facilities and Japanese style common bath (in addition to the en-suite bathroom).
