Reviews for Hotel New Station

Review 1:Nothing

Review 2:Rooms are small but well organised and the value for money is excellent ! great service, clean, easy use of the onsen, lot of facilities. Very good hotel.

Review 3:None.

Review 4:Location from station is perfect, reasonable room size and onsen on the top floor to use for all guest ? The staff are friendly and speak good english. I will definetely return here if I have a chance.

Review 5:Nothing really.

Review 6:Very helpful and friendly staff! The breakfast was very generous and filling. The location is excellent, just a 5 minutes walk to the train station and various shops and a supermarket.

Review 7:really nothing

Review 8:free bike provided. wonderful brand new like bike. bed is so soft and comfy. staff is very friendly and helpful. location is perfect love this hotel so much.

Review 9:Enough room, gently furnished, excellent mattress, calm, breakfast buffet (japanese) very fine, and the best: bath & sauna (7th floor) and nice ladies at desk and kitchen

Review 10:The staff is very friendly, well known english and help us going around. The hotel is very near the station and easy to find , you can go shopping around and walk to matsumoto castle and the walking street. The room is clean and proper for 2 ,like the other hotel in japan but Cheaper.

Review 11:Make sure to ask for a non-smoking floor, the smoking floors stink! Also, the rooms are MUCH smaller than they appear on the site.

Review 12:It is super close to the train station and the staff were excellent.

Review 13:3pm check in with no exceptions was somewhat draconian. Tiny Japanese bathroom, if you are over 6ft and/or overweight you will suffer a bit. Not even one complimentary coffee.

Review 14:Location was great. Bed comfortable.

Review 15:My room happened to be the railway side, was waken up by the noise of early train. Too small room especially the bed. Not suitable for two people.

Review 16:Very close to station. Got big public bath like "onsen".

Review 17:The room was a bit outdated.. But nothing realy bad

Review 18:Perfect for a short dtay, close to the castle and even closer to the station. There are many places to eat nearby and the staff is realy kind

Review 19:Small bathroom, even for Japan standards... And that's saying something... Stuffy room. Very hot! We kept waking up all night from the heat, even when the AC was off.

Review 20:Good location

Review 21:Very small room, bathroom did not seem very clean, smell of food and smoke in the (non-smoking) room (through air-conditioning).

Review 22:Very friendly and helpful staff, the daily newspaper (English), good beds, location near station.

Review 23:Room was too tiny for anything but sleeping, which mostly sufficed for me as I was out all days. Would have been more convenient if there was a microwave oven for shared use

Review 24:Great location and staff, yummy Japanese breakfast, reasonable public bath with sauna. Nearly perfect base for daily trips to Japanese Alps.

Review 25:The halls and rooms had an odor to them, which was uncomfortable. They don't offer any vegetarian dishes on their breakfast menu, which is a problem for a strict vegetarian like me.

Review 26:The location was great, a few hundred feet from the train station

Review 27:Rooms very small. Beds small, really not big enough for two. Fine for a single night, but I couldn't recommend it if staying any longer.

Review 28:Great location less than 5 minutes walk from the station. Staff friendly and helpful and speak some English. Great service.

Review 29:Great Hotel choice for Matsumoto, excellent location for train station, restaurants and bars. Great facilities, the hot bath is very nice and includes a sauna (for guys only) they lent us two bikes, we had a great stay!

Review 30:The onsen in this hotel is tiny and not that remarkable (each side fits maybe 3 people at a time). There's also a sauna but only on men's side.

Review 31:Super nice staff! Great location just 2 minutes from Matsumoto station. The rest of the city center is also easily reachable by foot. The hotel is not brand new but everything functions.

Review 32:Matsumoto... My opinion is that Matsumoto is over-estimated in some book guides. Takayama is much more interested in term of traditional old neighborood, atmosphere, restaurants,.... If not, the prices of the hotels in Matsumoto would not have been twice cheaper in August...

Review 33:Very good situation, nice staff and very good value even if it is a classical "tiny" room in those kinds of hotels in Japan.

Review 34:Very convenient location, close to the station and Matsumoto Castle. There are a lot of really nice places to eat and drink in the area. They have a Big Bath on the top floor which was really cool.

Review 35:The room is very small and it doesn't even have an armchair. The bed is small too.

Review 36:Good position (less than 5 minutes from Matsumoto Station) and 15 minutes by foot from Matsumoto Castle. Even if it's close to the railway it's very quiet.

Review 37:Bathrooms could use an upgrade.

Review 38:Very good location - close to the station, but you can't hear the trains and only a short walk to the Matsumoto Castle. Lovely staff, always greeting us with a smile.

Review 39:Bathroom like an airplane bathroom: cramped. Room very small, nowhere to put luggage. Bed somewhere between a single and a double. Checkin only starts after 3pm

Review 40:Clean room with nice, but small bed. Tea maker with tea in the room. Free public bath on 7th floor, gender separated. Very clean, relaxing, and stocked with useful toiletries: razors, shaving gel, cotton swabs, hair gels, shampoo and conditioner, etc. Good value Hotel.

Review 41:Just price. If look at Chino Sky view Hotel, you will see it very much better and cheaper

Review 42:Location. Breakfast is good. The breakfast ladies are excellent. But price should be more reaonable compare to value

Review 43:nothing to complain about

Review 44:hotel has some years on it's neck but was clean. The room was small but very well equipped and lacked nothing. staff was very friendly and we borrowed bikes for free. breakfast was very good. onsen was as expected clean. location is great and very near to station

Review 45:Small room, unable to open window in combination with poor functioning airconditioning

Review 46:Great location close to JR station, onsen on top floor, on site restaurant with long opening hours (for Japanese standards)

Review 47:My hotel room must have faced the train tracks, so we could hear the rumbling of the trains pass at night.

Review 48:The onsen was relaxing after a day of walking. Feels great to pamper oneself in a private pool. The hotel was a short walk from the JR station, excellent for using Matsumoto as a Base to explore other towns. Staff were very helpful and polite.

Review 49:heavy cigarette smell in a non smoking room! Cannot open the window and the aircon is noisy and increases the cigarette smell Old looking british motel design

Review 50:Location and the great bicycles

Review 51:The pillows here were like many in Japan... half full of beads for who knows what reason. Unpleasant, but by that point in our trip, also unsurprising.

Review 52:So close to the train station, small but pleasant room, kind staff, easy walk to food, everything we needed.

Review 53:Small and hard bed

Review 55:I actually had a very unfortunate experience with the staff. They didn't realize I spoke Japanese, so while I was sitting and waiting in the lobby, the staff and another customer spoke about the way I was dressed saying that I was "not beautiful" and that I looked "weird". I felt that their comments were really unprofessional, and offensive. After they found out that I spoke Japanese they apologized and tried to brush it off; but the damage had been done. The bathrooms were small

Review 56:Location! It was right next to the JR Matsumoto station, which was really convenient for anyone who has a JR pass, or traveling through that station. It also was pretty close to the stunning Matsumoto Castle!

Review 57:No bad experiences, but the room was extremely small, but for a 1 night stay, it was not a problem for us at all

Review 58:Extremely friendly and helpful staff; nice little onsen (and secure entry for the women's onsen); very clean; great location

Review 59:Excellent location near the railway and the busstation. Leave the railway station by the main exit and turn left. The hotel is located in that street at the left side at just 2 minutes from the entrance of the station. Leaving the busstation you will have to cross the square first to get at the train station. From the hotel is a 12 minute walk to Matsumoto Castle. Very friendy staff. English spoken. Comfortable and clean (but small) room and bathroom. (Standard size of Japanese hotelrooms). Good breakfast. From 7 am. Choice between different Japanese breakfasts.

Review 60:expected small room

Review 61:room without smoke smell clean with all the essential toiletries good wifi excellent staff who speaks English very neat to Matsumoto station

Review 62:The room is pretty small but the hotel itself is very well located, stag is super friendly and the onsen is nice in the evening! good deal for the price!

Review 63:The room was very old fashioned, small and we found other people's hair in our bed.

Review 64:We left one of my daughters shoes at the hotel and the staff arranged to have this posted on free of charge to an address in Tokyo for us to collect later in our trip.

Review 65:Room a little tight for a couple.

Review 66:Hotel is well located, just next to Matsumoto train station. Staff extremely helpful, and offered use of umbrella, knowing that we would be caught in rain at the Castle. For a businessmen hotel, it offers a public bath, which was a pleasant surprise!!!

Review 67:A few 'ladies of the night' nearby...

Review 68:Very close to station, fantastic staff, lovely breakfast, great price for a single room. Highly recommended

Review 69:Nothing - all good!

Review 70:Location - 1 m from the train station and in the heart of the city. Check in was 1500 hrs, I arrived 1100 hrs. I bought a discounted ticket for the castle and when I returned my bags were in my room already. The room had great facilities, kettle, hair dryer, press, tv etc and the bed was comfortable

Review 71:Clean,Friendly,Easy walk to shopping, food and especially Matsumoto Castle. Very accommodating. Held our luggage for us when we arrived before check in, beautiful breakfast is available for a small charge in the restaurant next door. I forgot my purse in the restaurant and when I went to leave for the restaurant to get it, it was already at the hotel front desk!

Review 72:Nothing at all,Everything seems perfect

Review 73:Facilities,service and warmth welcome of the staff, quick reservation without any deposit or ,payment. Everything should be highly appreciated.

Review 74:Near the station. The bath on the upper floor! The room was clean. Although the building itself was old, the facilities inside were new. The internet access was great!

Review 75:The bed was quite uncomfortable. But for the price point. Who cares

Review 76:It is right next to the train station, bars and restaurants. The staff were very helpful. If you like sushi ask the staff at reception about the conveyorbelt sushi about 15 mins walk away. Its 100 yen a plate!! Overall brilliant hotel

Review 77:I love their staff especially Mrs Sakumo, she is very very friendly and helpful. She always give me small gifts and she gives me recommen for good restaurant and tourist spot.. She is very nice person. Plus point, this hotel has a public bath :)

Review 78:You will find the room small but this normal in Japan, although well designed and functional.

Review 79:The Onsen (communal bath) on the 7th floor is a worthwhile experience . Great location.

Review 80:Literally 5min walk from the train station, 15 min walk from the castle and next to the the main commercial street of Matsumoto. Best price available on booking.com.

Review 81:Nothing - it was all good.

Review 82:The room was comfortable, and the location extremely convenient for the castle and the train station. All the staff I encountered were pleasant and professional. The female staff member who checked me in was particularly welcoming and very helpful throughout my stay.

Review 83:First we wondered why Twin bed room was more expensive (compared for one person) than the single room...because Twin bed room is much nicer than single room.

Review 84:Since the hotel is very close to the train station, sometimes you may hear some noise of train running from and to the station. However, it's really not that loud. You may not even notice the noise.

Review 85:The hotel is very near to Matsumoto station. There're lots of shops and restaurant nearby. Staff are nice and polite.

Review 86:Dated hotel with quite old carpet. Breakfast is basic and not so rich. If you need to pay money for breakfast, you have a lot of choose rather than stay in the hotel to eat.

Review 87:Within 2 minutes walk from JR station. JR station out in the front turn left is the hotel. Walk round the city by foot very easily, may be around an hour. Many competitive hotels in the nearby area, you can have a lot of choose. Very easy to find restaurants in the JR station.

Review 88:as most japanese rooms, quite small, opening a big suitcase can only be done on the bed. Typical japanese plastic bedroom

Review 89:100 m from the station (however the town is not that big. Hot spring a nice dip

Review 90:We are used to typical Japanese hotels with bath capsules inside a room and small beds. But this hotel had so tough mattress and pillows and such a small double bed that we couldn't sleep (please, note that we compare it with other Japanese hotels, not with European ones).

Review 91:Located near the Matsumoto JR station. There is a public bath on the 7th floor.

Review 92:Nothing.

Review 93:Friendly and helpful staff with tea drinks at the lobby. Staff is very informative and willing to share with you their local knowledge, where to visit, what and where to eat ( raw horse meat) etc etc. Convenient location walking distance to the train station and places of interest. Many local restaurants across and near to the hotel. The simple but functional onsen and sauna is a nice place to unwind. Wifi in room works.

Review 94:This hotel is very good value for money in Matsumote. Excellent Wi-fi in the rooms. The rooms are small, but clean and functional and the hotel also has a public bath.

Review 95:The design and size of the room.

Review 96:Staff speak English and are very welcoming. The free rental bikes are great. Also the sento at the top floor is quite nice.

Review 97:Bathroom a bit small even for japanese standard.

Review 98:Great place close to lots of bars, restaurants and of course the JR station. Room size is ok for japanese standard. Bed for double room is 130cm wide which is ok for two people. Breakfast is amazing as well as the restaurant of the hotel although you are so close to so many great places in the main street that is more tempting to go there. They offer free bike rent which is great to move around the city and visit the main sights.

Review 99:Room small but ok for price.

Review 100:The room is small but the hotel is clean and the staff are excellent. Japanese breakfast in the morning is delicious and the free bikes are good. Fast internet in room.

Review 101:Frosted glass so no view. Also the station is next door so although convenient some may be put off by train noise. Didn't bother us and was only during the day.

Review 102:So easy to get to, only 50m walk from the station. Very friendly staff and free bike hire great. Right in the centre of town and close to the castle.

Review 103:Socket is not enough, and a little far from the bed if u wanna use your phone on bed.

Review 104:Location, staff, breakfast. Room is Japanese traditional tiny but clean.

Review 105:I did not have time to relax during stay so will come again definitely!

Review 106:Great value breakfast and felt like experiencing Matsumoto local Japanese breakfast. You can not taste anywhere else other than here.Service their hospitality smile was impressive.if you wanna feel Japanese hospitality, you should go here.

Review 107:Good location. Just a couple of minutes walk from JR Matsumoto station. The room is neat and small but normal by Japan standard. Our room was at the back so we were near the railroad tracks but it was not noticeable. The hotel had laundry facilities and Japanese style common bath (in addition to the en-suite bathroom).

Review 108:The room and bed too small. The bed only suitable for single person, not for two...

Review 109:1. Great location. Walking distance to bus & train station. Also there're couple of restaurant surrounding there. You can have McD, MOS burger or Japanese restaurant. 2. Attached Japanese restaurant worth the value of price. The food tasty! 3. Staff very helpful. 4. The hotel also not really far from Matsumoto castle, is within walking distance (around 15 min).

Review 110:Room is clean

Review 111:very small bed for 2 persons

Review 112:clean close to station

Review 113:Great delicious dinner

Review 114:Value for money, clean and close to bus station.

Review 115:Basically nothing.

Review 116:The bed and pillow is very comfy. The location is perfect. Free bike is provided. Good value.

Review 117:close to Train Station, v. helpful front desk staff, good value breakfast. Pleasant walking distance to Castle

Review 118:Rooms are small but enough for one night

Review 119:Sauna, Hot water, Proximity for station

Review 120:no

Review 125:Perfect location super close to the JR station and nice ofuro!

Review 126:Amazingly helpful reception and restaurant staff

Review 127:Everything

Review 128:The room is quite narrow even to Japanese standards.

Review 129:The location is perfect.

Review 130:No.

Review 131:The interior of the room is so rustic and nice!
