Reviews for Hotel Baglio Santacroce

Review 1:It had rained heavily before we came and the bed felt damp due to the use of synthetic materials (extra sheets provided relief). The room was a bit drab.

Review 2:The view is magnificent and the garden is attractive with many spots to enjoy the view or read. The restaurant is welcoming and provides a good choice of local dishes.

Review 3:While the veiw of the location was spectacular, the noise from function centre on 2 nights during our stay disturbed sleep until 2.00am.

Review 4:Restaurant was excellent food and we ate there all 3 nights

Review 5:Upgraded and paid additional$ to a newer room, however it did not have a very good view, but it did have ac and was much more comfy. The rustic room we first booked was small and faced a parking area. The other antique roomswe were shown had tiny iron barred windows and no a/c.Ceiling was so low my husband hit his head. Be warned if you are tall.

Review 6:Spectacular view, lovely pool, nice restaurant.terrific location! Great value for the price. Spend the extra for seaview room with balcony..definetely the way to go. We enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed longer.great place to relax!

Review 7:We stayed 4 nights, but on two nights, we were not able to sleep, as there were private parties in the hotel and the music and noise could be heard in our room, despite closed windows. This is not a hotel you expect to be noisy. The breakfast was poor (each day the same ham and cheese) and the staff sometimes forgot to fill up the empty plates with food. The swimming pool was nice, but there was always the smell from the kitchen, as the ventilation exits are just beside the pool area. You don't need the smell of fried bacon or similar while sunbathing.

Review 8:The location, as well as the view from the hotel, are very nice. The pizza in the restaurant was one of the best we ever ate (and we already ate a lot).

Review 9:Bathrooms in the "Baglio" part of the hotel could use an update.

Review 10:The hotel sits on a high ridge overlooking the sea. Beautiful gardens surround the property. The "Baglio" rooms are very romantic and well worth a stay. Be aware however these rooms are a bit rustic (part of the charm) and there are "steps" involved and no lifts in this part of the hotel. Restaurant on site was outstanding value for copious portions of great food. Breakfast leaned heavily on "Italian style" which is fine for me: Good strong coffee and excellent coronetto with a bit of fruit, cereal and yogurt are all I need. There was the usual ham, hard boiled eggs and cheese etc. but not what I judge a good hotel on.

Review 11:Staff were very average and fairly disinterested. No local info offered, no bar service except in restaurant.

Review 12:We had a junior suite with magnificent views over the bay and mountains. Great pool area. Good safe parking.

Review 13:Lack of air conditioning in the old (and more attractive) part of the complex makes it very difficult to sleep at night. The staff helpful when approached but don't go out of their way to help. The mini fridge in the room didn't work and when it was 'fixed' we were told it would take 10 hours to work properly.

Review 14:The location is good and the grounds of the hotel are a real bonus. The breakfast is very good (especially the freshly squeezed orange juice) and the evening meal good value. This hotel could be exceptional if staff were more proactive and if there was more attention to detail.

Review 15:Plastic cups at breakfast Coffee ia horrible but at least you can ask for fresh machine coffee

Review 16:View, location Dinner option Great swimming pool setting Barn style building

Review 17:The breakfast could have been better

Review 18:Room very spacious, restaurant very good and reasonably priced, staff friendly, pretty garden, view down to the coast beautiful, conveniently located for car trips to Scopello, Trapani and Erice

Review 19:The nearest town Valderice is not very attractive and there was only one trattoria that we could find Sfizi e Delizie, which was actually very good.

Review 20:The hotel grounds are lovely, beautiful and well tended gardens with a choice of patio seating areas. The pool is a good size and generally quiet. However, be aware that during our stay the pool was closed to guests on three afternoons as it was being used for swimming lessons for the local school. The restaurant is very good and there was a wide selection of lovely dishes. The waiters are lovely and helpful and the pizzas - cooked in the restaurant's pizza oven are excellent.

Review 21:Views from the pool terrace

Review 22:I wish it would have a coffee maker or water boiler.

Review 23:We had a standard room with the view of the sea.

Review 24:Room, breakfast

Review 25:Vienodi pusryciai kiekviena ryta.

Review 26:Nerealus krastovaizdis.

Review 27:The bathroom was a bit outdated.

Review 28:Swimmingpool, garden, very good breakfast en restaurant.

Review 29:Small shower cubicle, semi-functioning air condition, poor breakfast + breakfast service.

Review 30:Location

Review 31:First reception by elder attendant was quite impersonal, limit not friendly. After that female staff was more than ok. Breakfast was not terrible, as well as the coffee. Strange coffee machine, but you can ask for espresso/capu if you like (they don't promote/propose it) but still then espresso isnt terrible

Review 32:Location is good, close to Trapani & Erice as well as San Vito. Nice pool & clean room (new building). Price/quality was ok (paid around 60€/night)

Review 33:There happened to be a group of young footballplayers in the hotel. They were terribly noisy during the evening and my room was in the middle of it. The hotel should be more careful with planning rooms of guests.

Review 34:Room, staff and dinner good.

Review 35:The staff wasn´t pleasant to us after we notified the receptionist of broken window opening. Part of shower enclosure was also broken, the window/door was very difficult to open.

Review 36:Great pool, nice breakfast.

Review 37:We were celeberating our 1 year wedding anniversary in Sicilia, andafter some research and looking at photos, we booked this hotel a fewweeks before and just had to cross our fingers that it would turn outgood/real. As we approached the hotel and arrived onto the driveway,we were already happy. First thing we noticed, before we even check-in,was the fantastic view from the entire hotel, becuase it is well abovesea-level. At check-in, we were given a room at the old building (whichis what we wanted, becuase we like rustic style), and when went insideour room, we realized there is no a/c, so we enquired about that andwere told that the old building has no a/c, so we chose to stay inthe new building but have a/C. The room was good, we had the seaview, and all the comforts you could ask for. The next day, wediscovered the hotel more, and were amazed about the common areas, thebalconies, the swimming pool area, the restaurant, they were all verytastefully decorated, but of course it was also becuase of theantique/rustic style that the hotel and its old building had. Atnight, we ended up eating at Erice (a near-by Medieval touristic town)and although the city was amazing, the food was terrible (as mosttourist places are - we were surprised to see mushrooms out of a can onan Italian Pizza). So, the next night, as the hotel's restaurant hada very nice and romantic ambient, we decided to give it a go, and wewere really pleased with the quality of the food, authentic ItalianPizza, made in stone oven with real flames.. It was so good that weended up not risking anything and ate there the following night as well(their Linguine Seafood was amazing, could not get more Italian thanthat). This night was our actual anniversary night and the director ofthe restaurant surprised us with a bouquet of roses, this was reallybeyond expected.

Review 38:Ugly town Valderice, higher price...

Review 39:Magic garden, clean, elegant and practical environment (room, hall, restaurant), 24-hour running swimming pool, king staff, nice seating with beautiful view

Review 40:Not any serious problems. Can be a bit difficult to reach with the GPS - I had to mark a nearby intersection and while approaching you see well the signs and a ramp to it. There were a group of young children from a local school for two hours in the early afternoon at the pool. they were very noisy and wild. Perhaps a good time to take a nap in your cooled room. The beds in our room were hard - but that is quite often in Italy

Review 41:We were positively surprised over the place. We had to stay only for one night in the middle of a hot july. We had a triple room in the new building. The new building fits very well with the rest of the place. All the gardens are well trimmed with a variety of local plants. The room was very good and clean and cooled down by aircondition. Bathroom was fine The pool and the terrace are very good and quite. The view is also beautiful. We had lunch and dinner at the restaurant - not the cheapest but it was good. Please Note that on the menu some of the fish courses marked with a * are frozen, so you can skip them if you want the other fresh products. Free wifi works also in the room in the new building - great service.

Review 42:The website is a bit misleading, as there is no Airport Shuttle service available to Palermo and you definitely need a car to get around.

Review 43:The hotel is very nice and staff is absolutely brilliant. Seems like a family run hotel and people are extremely helpful and courteous. Location offers lovely view of the coast.

Review 44:Nice hotel with an amazing view. Staff is very kind and the rooms are a little bit smal but clean. The little garden and swimmingpool are nice. Good restaurant.

Review 45:A perfect place if you are a fan of soviet-style concrete buildings with little or no service. Stay in Palermo and travel for the day to Segesta and Erice.

Review 46:We offered the hotel some services improvements suggestions, including joining the "environmentally friendly hotels" programme (towels and sheets re-use initiatives, if guests requests so, rather than daily change) and raising the bar in the quality of the restaurant (both staff wise and adding a written dessert menu, plus signing bill at end of every dinner, rather than a bulk note at the end of the stay). Adding transfer from / to the airport as well as the sea beach and offering evening social events by the poolcould sharply improve the vacation experience of guests at Baglio Santacroce.

Review 47:The hotel has indeed magnificent views, good amenities (swimming pool, own restaurant, beautiful garden, airco in the new rooms) and professional staff. It is definitely a good location to explore the west part of Sicily, with a number of attractions within 1 hour or so driving distance (the saline in Trapani, Erice medieval city, Segesta Greek ruines, Palermo, Scopello, San Vito lo Capo etc) - provided, or course, you plan to rent a car - othewise, mobility is fairly limited, especially during hot summer days (getting close to 38 C sometimes), not easy to reach a sea beach by foot.

Review 48:Only an average menu in the restaurant, disappointing choice and not up to the expected standard in sicily for the prices charged. Obviously catering for package and coach parties and consequently the food reflected this. As private customers we expected a far higher standard. The staff did their best but were compromised by the sheer number of clientele.

Review 49:Conveniently sited and quiet with good views. Helpful to have a restaurant adjacent.

Review 50:Great dinners

Review 51:Very nice location and view and nice pool.

Review 52:Bed too hard.

Review 53:Pool and views to the sea.

Review 54:Views from hotel.

Review 55:Amazing pizza in hotel's restaurant, better than other breakfasts in Italy, nice swimming pool

Review 56:Later check out limited.

Review 57:The view, the swimming pool, restaurant, beautiful gardens.

Review 58:Superb view

Review 59:too expensive compared to what it offers. Rooms good for a hospital not for a hotel. Breakfast poor.

Review 60:Landscape

Review 61:Pool closed and restaurant very quiet

Review 62:Excellent location friendly staff comfortable room with great view

Review 63:Good location, friendly staff

Review 64:The pictures are decieving. They are before the new section wasadded.this hotel is more like a howard johnson'S.

Review 65:Spacious. Magnificent views and scenery. Proximity to Erice
