Reviews for Le Village du Toubkal Suites

Review 1:I think most of the people would say the walk up from the parking to the hostel ( around 15 mins walk) but that means u will have a great view over looking the city! So I don't think it's a disadvantage!

Review 2:The staff was really nice and try to make our stay us comfortable as possible. There was mule to take ur baggage up the hills to get to the hostel. The room was clean and warm! You can over see the village from the hostel. The staff even automatically took out lying chair for us to sit outside the balcony from the dinning room. Really considerate! They will help you arrange different hikes and supplies.

Review 3:Room was very cold - requested heaters and after some "discussion" we were brought 2 heaters which made a massive difference. Quite a hike from the car to the property - be prepared if you are unfit / immobile. No spa facilities - hammam not hot enough to use in December.

Review 4:Lovely mountain retreat. Food was excellent - lovely tagine in the evening

Review 5:As our visit was in late December it was very cold in our bedroom but I slept wonderfully well.

Review 6:This is a wonderful and remote location in the Atlas Mountains. We stayed one night on our way to Marrakech. The food was simple but very good- a lovely soup and a tagine of beef with figs and walnut. The dining area had a stove and was nice and cosy. From our room we had a spectacular view across the mountains.

Review 7:The Riad was beautiful and we were very well looked after. The owner of the Riad organised all excursions and taxis for us which was great. We were always picked up from outside the Riad and chaperoned by guides which was really helpful! The owner had a great knowledge of the area and the things we should do. The food was fantastic, really authentic and wholesome.

Review 8:A little bit cold at night, but they have many covers, fire in the dinner room and bath tubs. Also: they charged 15 EUR for the dinner (3 courses, but still a lot) without saying this in advance.

Review 9:Yes, let a donkey bring up your luggage is something different, however: you don't wanna walk this way when it's raining or at night...

Review 10:Hosts - Nawal (Manager) and Hussein - were very welcoming and accommodating. I had the best meal whilst staying in Morocco - cooked by Hussein at the lodge - a beef and fig tagine. Nawal was very helpful in planning my day with logistics and getting met to my next destination. Such lovely people.

Review 11:Wifi was not always working

Review 12:The food was very good, the location was fantastic with easy 15 minutes walk from the road. A donkey will bring your luggage

Review 13:Anyone with mobility problems would not manage very well with the trek to the hotel. This was not our case.

Review 14:We were given a free upgrade as hotel was quiet which is always appreciated. Staff very helpful and Nawal sorted out all our transfers and treks which made it all a very hassle free experience.

Review 15:the directions could have been better described to make it easier for us to find the hotel

Review 16:great hotel and an experience to find it - this hotel is definitely 'off the beaten track!' But that makes it what it is - the experience of getting there is great, but can imagine that it's not much fun when it's wet or snowy - great views and a real traditional welcome

Review 17:Its snowed! Rooms took a while to heat up.

Review 18:Great at organising walking guides. Lovely location. Love the luggage transport from the road to the hotel (donkey). Food was amazing and loads of it.. Very nice log fire in the lounge.

Review 19:Hotel has to let their guests know in advance that there is NO ACCESS by car and you need to get a donkey to get you up there(if you have suitcases no way you can do it on your own) Regardless it was a great adventure, it caused a lot of inconveniences as we couldn't find the location and didn't know how to get there. They email you the same day to call the hotel once you arrive but with no internet we couldn't know. Room was too big and wasn't possible to heat it enough at this time of a year. We got extra heater but it didn't make any difference, we were very cold. Good bath and views made up our stay!

Review 20:LOcation:woow!! Staff very warm and helpful, good food, really nice rooms, spacious and well decorated, amazing bathroom.

Review 21:Where do I begin? I have many issues with this hotel. You must walk 15 minutes from where your car is parked and there is not one sign to indicate where the hotel is. In the rain and snow, getting lost several times was not all that enjoyable. The photos on booking.com r misleading. Our room was huge with little furniture and beds sitting on their box springs on the floor. Rooms r very dark and cold. Although there is in floor heat, the only way to stay warm was to stay in bed or wear ski jackets in the room. It snowed a lot while we were there so the roof leaked in most of the rooms. Wifi only exists in the reception area. Staff never mentioned the spa or the services offered. Food was adequate.

Review 22:Staff were very accommodating and helpful but not overly ambitious.

Review 23:The ceiling seemed to shower plaster dust into the room all the time... you would find books or clothes left out covered in dust every morning. Wifi was only possible in one room in the hotel. Breakfast was the same every morning.

Review 24:Loved the half hour walk up from Imlil with the cases on a mule. Very atmospheric, especially when we turned off the main track into a riverbed... Yes, the way to the hotel is off the beaten track! The room was beautiful with stunning views and great bed.

Review 25:Make sure to call when you arrive in Imlil. Don't follow sat nav like us as it will lead you well out of the way.

Review 26:An incredible location, right in the centre of the Atlas Mountains. Very pleasant staff, good facilities, lovely food.

Review 27:Spa is a bit misleading and wifi wasn't working. Rooms on the colder side in february. Facilities were oversold but still reasonable value for money. It would be useful to have directions on how to get there as it's not on main road and no sign to indicate the hotel.

Review 28:The food was good which is mandatory since any other food is at half an hour away. The location is remote and the view on the mountain is beautiful, a good place to start a hike on toubkal.

Review 29:Problems with wifi but was to do with a problem in the area. Take your own drink as it can't be sold in the national park.

Review 30:Really nice room with amazing views and food was really fresh. Having a mule/ donkey to carry your bags.....phone hotel and they send it for you

Review 31:It was pretty cold in the rooms, probably because of the floor heating system. Though, once under the sheets it was nice.

Review 32:Friendly and helpful staff. Although we were the only ones in the hotel, they put on the fire in the common dining area just for us. Ideal for a couple of long walks in the mountains.

Review 33:This place doesn't have a good enough heating system to provide reasonably warm accommodation in the winter. Our room was 12oC on the evening of arrival, and got to a high of 15oC during our stay. There were plenty of blankets but the low temperature made it difficult to enjoy the room if not in bed! We asked for an extra heater in the room but there weren't any. The communal living area was very warm and cosy with a log burning stove, so we spent evenings in there but would've been nice to make more use of our lovely spacious bedroom. The owners need to invest to ensure the hotel is adequately heated if they intend to keep the hotel open im the winter months. Also need to make clear that the property is 20mins walk from the road, up a mountain path -makes for a very secluded stay but means going out in the evening was not really an option (unless you're happy to brave the path in the dark). The location was not an issue for us (part of its attraction, though being able to use our room more would've been good in light of this -see above commentsvon lack of heating) but would be for some guests. Wifi would be welcome too.

Review 34:Spectacular views, delicious food and huge tastefully decorated rooms. Visit in warm months though!

Review 35:When I was there, it was cold. if you go in the colder time of year, you will be cold the entire time. The only time I was warm was when I was in the tub. Even when getting a massage I was cold... This is just a heads up, not really a complaint as I enjoyed my experience there. It;s the only reason I gave it good marks instead of excellent in several catagories.

Review 36:The facility is top notch. Room was spacious, well appointed and clean. Housekeeping is good. Meals are served at your convienence, inside or out. The view from the deck just doesn't get any better. Taxi dropped me in town and the burro picked up my luggage pretty quick. Nice easy walk up to the resort. Took in the spa while there - very nice. Rated well at 9+

Review 37:the wifi was only at the reception, but this was because it was very low season.

Review 38:the berber taxi: your luggage on a donkey to the lodge. The view is amazing. The meals very good. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 39:Having to leave ! But will be back!

Review 40:Attentive staff clean beautiful property absolutely stunning location. We arranged transport via the hotel from Marrakech no hassle , where met by mule for journey via walnut grove up to hotel. Enjoyed a day treking that hotel arranged with local guide good value for money. Traditional hamman wonderful basic but all you need. Most stunning place we have ever stayed. We had to leave on day of festival hotel arranged transport and to our surprise when we got up at half five they had made us breakfast as well as arranged someone to help us down the track. Felt so well looked after!

Review 41:Quite tricky to find, so make sure you are clear on the directions before you go.

Review 42:Beautiful and clean hotel with stunning location, friendly and welcoming staff, great food.

Review 43:It wasn't that I didn't like but you need to make people aware this is 300m above the village and if arriving by car you need to park at Tourist information/or further up the road and they will send a mule down to pick up your bags. It's an off road walk up to the place but worth it. They do not accept credit cards there, you need cash. Cheers

Review 44:Food was great, massive room with a nice big firm bed. Awesome place, the call to prayer at sunset was one of those spine tingling moments. Free range chicken.

Review 45:The view beautiful

Review 46:Calming

Review 47:Additional services which had not been agreed in advance were provided and invoiced.

Review 48:Stylish and clean rooms. Great area. Friendly staff.

Review 49:The host Nawal is great. We like our stay on top of the hill, we are far from everything. The view is wonderfull and the place is exotic

Review 50:The staff was very nice.

Review 51:The walk up to the hotel is very difficult

Review 52:The location is amazing.

Review 53:No comfortable sitting room

Review 54:Large bedroom

Review 55:A bit chilly in the winter :)

Review 56:Amazing location and beautiful view of the Imlil valey.

Review 57:It was a little cold in the bedrooms in November

Review 58:location Simplicity of hotel Beautiful dining room Staff

Review 59:Leaving

Review 60:The amazing food and friendly staff, the location was ideal to disappear into quiet luxury after climbing Jebel Toubcal! We wish we had longer here but will be back next time we hit the mountains for sure! If only for the tagine and fresh breakfasts, we will be back!

Review 61:Rooms slight on the cool side but the hotel was challenged by 4 inches of completely unexpected snow in late March!

Review 62:Simple hospitality, helpful staff and great location (if you don't mind a 20 minute steep walk alongside the mule transporting your luggage).

Review 63:It would have been helpful to know that there was quite a climb up to the hotel. 20/25 minutes on foot. It wouldn't have put us off, but we would have been prepared for it and able to enjoy it rather than not knowing how much further it was.

Review 64:The location was beautiful with stunning views.

Review 65:More heating required in the winter months - we were freezing, both in our rooms and in the one very dark and dingy public room which was also the restaurant.

Review 66:Beautiful setting, pleasant bedrooms with good facilities

Review 67:We liked everything!

Review 68:The access is difficult, however the staff will provide parking and a mule to carry your baggage. The view, the room, the decoration and the massage (+ hamman) were superb! I'd definitely go back.

Review 69:Front of house / management disinterested in showing us round or giving information and rarely to be found at the front desk. Freezing cold even in the dining room - they seem to run the place on half in "low season" even if they have guests. Dinner was OK but nothing special and not worth the premium rate we paid, likewise for the room overall really. I was quite surprised the hotel didn't give us more warning that thenplacenis off road, a 30 minute walk from the nearest road where you can park. A mule arrives to carry your luggage, but all the same it is worth being dressed to trek! We would stay again as a preference to the rather glum looking rooms on offer in the rest of the village, if we went back to climb Mt Toubkal in summer. Otherwise the area is really not that scenic and there is really no good reason to visit in winter.

Review 70:Big room, big bed, nice bath, robes provided, tea on arrival, prompt to sort out guidance for us when we called having arrived in the village, helpful kitchen staff, very quiet.

Review 71:We stayed here only two nights and seriously wished we had booked for a week. Nawal arranged our taxi from Marrakesh to Imlil and porter/donkey for the rest of the way (more pricey than if we had arranged it ourselves, but blissfully hassle-free). From Imlil it was a beautiful walk through the walnut tree woodlands in full autumn colours following a little leat for some of the way and then climbing up steps to the hotel perched on the hillside. We had a lovely warm welcome from Nawal and staff and some Moroccan whisky (mint tea) on the terrace soaking up the incredible mountain view. The hotel is of a traditional berber style with a rustic but stylish, unpretentious interior. We found everything soft on the eye and it had been sympathetically developed to blend with the mountain landscape. Our bedroom was so comfortable, large and airy with a stunning view, huge bed and bath and soothing colour scheme. In the evenings the whole place was atmospheric with lots of candles and dim, but warm lighting throughout. We were really pleased to find that this was a spa without pretensions, that was true to its roots and with an eye on sustainability. And it was so incredibly peaceful. It would seem that sadly some reviewers saw 'spa' in the name and let their expectations run away with them. The meals were absolutely delicious and that was the consensus from the other guests too. In fact it was some of the best food we had in Morocco; way better than many of the offerings in Marrakech. The meat tagines were flavoursome and hearty, and the vegetable tagine produced especially for me was tastier then equivalents in the capital. The breakfasts were fresh, hearty and healthy. We would go back tomorrow if we could. Thanks Nawal and team for making our stay so comfortable and happy.

Review 72:I liked the location very much. Close to nature and ideal starting point for trekking tours in the Atlas Mountains. Please note that the hotel cannot be approached by car. You need to park in the village and give the hotel a call. They sent someone with a donkey to carry the luggage immediately. Worked out perfectly well.

Review 73:It is fairly remote, so you are a bit "stuck" there for the evening and when you have dinner (15-20 minutes walk in darkness to get somewhere else). Can get cold in the evening with limited heating available.

Review 74:Nice view in the mountains. Excellent for relaxing

Review 75:BAD, BAD, BAD service. Food does not match the web sight photos, you don't get what you see. Doors locked at night preventing one from access to roof terrace, and main building, stuck in room at night.

Review 76:Great views, good for art work. Local people very nice

Review 77:Difficult to find. Location is of the main road. No sign on the road. You have to hike 20 minutes uphill to reach the hotel. When you call them they immediately send someone with a donkey to help you find the hotel and carry the luggage.

Review 78:Nice location inside the mountains with panaromic view!!! Great luxe room with mountain view, good bed and large, clean bathroom. Free use of private hamman. Good warm welcome with marocan thea. Superb diner for very good price.

Review 79:Location was 20 minutes walk from the road, and 30 minutes from the village. also there were 116 steps to climb once you got to the hotel!

Review 80:Beautiful Views and good food.

Review 81:A bit outdated rooms, food kind of pricey for this town.

Review 82:Best views over Imlil Valley. Warm welcome. Location is a bit remote, but that is just the charm of this place.

Review 83:A beautiful, peaceful mountain retreat. It was absolute bliss hearing nothing but the sound of the waterfall, and the sound of the birds, and occasionally the wind whistling through the mountains. We took a 3 hour trek around the area with a guide which we arranged through the owner, and would definitely recommend it. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated. A perfect place for a peaceful retreat away from it all.

Review 84:The hotel is built on a mountain top. From the village you have to take a path which climbs upwards. Once you see the hotel, there are steps to climb. First time it seems a long way up but you can always hire a mule for your luggage.

Review 85:The location is perfect, however it is not suitable for people with walking difficulties. The walk upwards is amazing. You pass rushing water and the mountain scenery is beautiful. The hotel is hanging on the mountain and it is very comfortable, peaceful and rustic. The mules and the men who help you with the luggage, are wonderful. The service and the food is excellent. The flat bread for breakfast is a good treat. The staff helped my son and my mother in every way as they had walking difficulties. Thank you to Nawal.

Review 86:The location - completely remote - a perfect place to relax. Beautiful views. Taste of Traditional culture. Nice activities included at the hotel - the Hamman Spa, walking Treks. Amazing home cooked food. Very friendly staff who went out of their (e.g. going to the pharmacy for us) to make sure our stay was good.

Review 87:Nothing really but afew rugs and cushions on the terrace would be nice for chilling out in the sun.

Review 88:Views are amazing. So relaxing it feels like a retreat and listening to the call to pray echo through the valley is great. Most wonderful terrace.

Review 89:nothing

Review 90:Everything : the room was beautiful and very big, very confortable with a huge bath! There is a very nice hamam (for free) and a beautiful terrasse with an amazing view. The staff is so friendly and make all his possible so that you feel good. The breakfast and diner are very good, served in a very friendly dining room.

Review 91:Nothing - it was all excellent and we would have happily stayed long if we had the time. Only comment is that it's quite a walk up the 250m - I'm scared of heights and not very fit and was fine but we weren't expecting it - would be knackering if you'd already had a long day and were tired! Fortunately the mule takes the bags!

Review 92:Excellent friendly service, massive bedrooms, unique location. A lovely huge sun terrace to take in the view under the sunshine. Masseuse available and lovely little hammam.

Review 93:Nothing, perhaps you needed to ask the price of the guides before you started, if going it alone. The hotel did everything correctly.

Review 94:We loved the location, which was far from the madding crowd and yet friendly and welcoming, not pretentious at all. Family feel. The views and environment were stunning and simplicity itself. The food was plentiful and delicious, the staff could not have been any more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The walking was excellent. You need good boots!

Review 95:Room was cold. Heating was off. Air conditioning was working well but the room was so big it stayed cold all night.

Review 96:Huge room and bathroom. Excellent position (the hotel is reached by mule and walking along a mountain path). Nice staff and good food.

Review 97:Excellent location for trekking Good information and helpfulness from staff Good breakfast

Review 98:It`s really hard to find this hotel.

Review 99:Wonderfull view and a perfect dinner!

Review 100:Amazing location, really friendly staff who were incredibly helpful

Review 101:Would be nice to have comfortable chairs to relax on terrace

Review 102:Excellent staff, great location

Review 103:wonderful staff and fantastic location. Also very good value

Review 104:Beautiful, if rustic location. Incredibly friendly/helpful local staff with good English. Big room, underfloor heating, large bath.

The Fine Print

Please note that when you arrive to Imlil village you walk 15 minutes from the parking to the hotel.
