Reviews for Dar Tighoula

Review 1:This stay was a treat for us. 4 great nights, superb value for money. Nice dinner on site too. Hosts are looking after their guests very well, had fire lit every evening which made chilly winter nights pleasant. Made really nice connections with fellow travelers here and will be definitely back next time in Morocco. Thank you. :-)

Review 2:Having to leave!! Nothing major but just a note to say that it would be better if the fact that you also need to pay city tax per person per night should be listed on the booking.com site (as it is for many of the other places). Also the location needs to accurately noted. It's a wonderful location just at the beginning of Ait Souka village just above Imlil, but is mapped here to be back down the Ansi road.

Review 3:The location is stunning. The owners are just a lovely couple and so typical of the amazing Berber people of Morocco. A pleasure to be in this amazing part of the world. Loved the room with the terrace and a little mini 'living room' right inside your room. The roof terrace is just wonderful. Food was lovely and great to have home cooked dinners in the evening after hiking.

Review 4:Very quiet place to relax and to admire the very beautiful landscape, thanks again to the two nice ladies and the service excellent. Beautiful room amazing view from the balcony.

Review 5:The best of Dar Thigoula are the people running it. Their hospitality and friendliness are remarkable. They gave us a warm welcome, they gladly helped with all we needed, they served great food, and offered advice on local services. The rooms were clean and pretty. The facilities were good. I can't think of anything negative really. Thank you, Dar Thigoula!

Review 6:We just spent a night at Dar Tighoula. We received a very warm welcome. We were staying in th room with a balcony which was very spacious and clean with a lovely en suite shower room. Breakfast was faultless, lots of fresh fruit, tea, coffee, orange juice and a very tasty full Moroccan breakfast!

Review 7:it is 10 minutes walk from Imlil centre, but this is not even issue for us, but maybe someone like to be in the downtown :)

Review 8:very friendly hosts, delicious food (also cheaper comparing to restaurants around), clean, nice room, excellent balcony, free tea and coffee all day, host sent a car to welcome us, trust is very important here and for sure you can trust to your hosts, it is not like Marrakesh at all

Review 9:Beautiful location, staff were all very helpful and friendly. The food was really tasty, we are all vegetarian and they were very happy to cater for us. Everybody was really friendly to the children, they arranged a donkey to help the children up the mountains (I was nervous of them being high up on a mule as they are only small), it seemed to cause great amusement to the locals as apparently donkeys are used for work not by tourists.

Review 10:We were not able find the place at night. GPS coordinates pointed to another house on the hillside. After two hours looking we had to stay somewhere else.

Review 11:Shower and wash basin urgently needs maintenance. Almost not usable.Would be nice some hooks for towels etc, shower curtain to avoid flooding.Hardly warm water.

Review 12:Kind people, tasty meals, nice view from terrace. Easy an fast organised excellent mountain trek on mules, transfer from airport and then to next hotel in Marrakech. Thanks for everything!

Review 13:If I look at the whole picture Dar Tighoula was our best accomodation during our 16 day travel all around Morocco. Everybody was very nice and polite. They served real home made food. They made the bread, tajine, marmalade and everything. The view from the terasse and from the rooms also beautiful. Our room was clean, convenient and big enough for two. The WiFi was working as well. If you want you can leave your car at their parking place (for a little money) during your Atlas hike. One thing: The coordinate at Booking.com is wrong. It is pointing 2 km far away. We registered the following coordinate: N31.13778 deg W7.91075 deg

Review 14:It was very hard to find the plac, GPS coordinates point like 3kms away, we had to take a "taxi". Cold shower.

Review 15:Very friendly staff, nice room, tasty dinner

Review 16:Hot water was a bit limited but hell you are in the middle of the mountains so no big deal! One thing is that the phone number on Booking.com is wrong. If you need to get in touch better to look at their website.

Review 17:On paper this hotel does not look great with very basic lighting & poor plumbing. Having said that it is one of the most memorable places I have ever visited. Stunning views, great food, and a glorious night sky dominated by the milky way. All run by a charming and very helpful family who made me feel like I was really part of Morocco.

Review 18:Shower is a mess

Review 19:Staff is amazing and helpful. When we just arrived they called a friend to answer all our questions about Toubkal circuit. food is great, rooms are nice. Beautiful location and value for money. Stayed there twice.

Review 20:Fit for purpose for a bit of trekking. Fantastic food Felt 'real' rather than a tourist place... a welcome change from Marrakesh! Nice place to relax

Review 21:Dar Tighoula was a real warm welcome, surrounded by beautiful nature while experiencing traditional Moroccan hospitality and it exceeded all my expectations. A beautiful place to relax with great food and excellent service from the kind and friendly Family, The rooms are really Beautiful and clean, Our room had a nice balcony with beautiful view.

Review 22:Dificult to find, but the place ant the view from therace is astonishing and wonderful, personal is magical. It's a family to who you carre, and they treat you like they old seen relative. Superb!

Review 23:The people, who own the place, are so friendly and kind. I don't really know, how on earth they are making any profit at all. This place is an excellent base for those, who are loves Mother Nature, as it quiet and peaceful. I felt my soul have rested there.

Review 24:Nothing

Review 25:Very, very friendly stuff. Perfect, huge and cheap dinner for ask. Every day cleaning. Very silent place. As the grangdmother's cottage :) Highly recommended.

Review 26:Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help. This is a good place to arrange guides for trekking as they do a much better deal then the official rate in the village.

Review 27:Shower could be better, but this is the only thing we could find

Review 28:Hospitality, wonderful welcoming staff, don't forget that you pay under the 15€ for a room and you get so nice warm experiences from it !! We at each evening the daily menu in the evening, verrrrry good and tasteful!!! Sure we'll visit this wonderful location, we had 3 days of rest and just enjoying the nature

Review 29:We really enjoyed our time in Imlil, and a major part of that was staying at Dar Tighoula! We had so much help in our preparations for Mt Toubkal and they had plenty of gear if we were missing something. I can highly recommend having your dinner here too. The views from the terrace are also wonderful. Thanks for a great stay in Imlil!

Review 30:Cars have to be parked on the street, which is not the best considering it's a mountain road. Premises decoration needs to be freshened up. It tends to be cold at night, be prepared.

Review 31:Our room was big with great view over the mountains. Ahmed and girls are helpful and friendly. Meals provided were very good with big portions (you might want to share). Prices are 40dh for lunch and 70dh for dinner per person (2 courses + fresh fruit).

Review 32:We were at Dar Tighoula for the second time ,now with our children and it felt like coming home. The staff is really great, very good cook all fresh made food. DELICIOUS!!. Ahmed spoke english very well. The rooms are very clean, Amazing view from the balcony the most important for us. The scenery is really unbelievable what a beauty and what a calm and peaceful place,

Review 33:the room itselft: was dusty, moldy, only cold water in the shower and broken wash basin

Review 34:Area nearby, the staff (despite their english language skills), view from the terrace and the fireplace in the room.

Review 35:The owners and family of this traditional accomodation went out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable and well fed . Food was local dishes and plenty of fresh bread .The view from the roof terrace was incredible . This simple lodge was perfect for us as we were in Imlil to hike in the Atlas Mountains and Karim a family member became our mountain guide for the summit of Toubkal and also arranged our transfer to marrakech . This may not be the most luxurious accomodation but for me it was a fantastic ,warm, friendly, family run mountain lodge.

Review 36:Beautiful room with big balcony, hot shower, Welcoming, friendly and helpful people, clean and comfortable room, delicious breakfast and dinner, Everything was more than perfect.. The best view in the village. Excellent location.

Review 37:The fireplace is not enough to get warm the cold and wet room. We are mindful that no firewood and that the situation for them is difficult but in january is too cold!

Review 38:The staff is wonderfull people and very helpfull.

Review 39:Having to come home !

Review 40:Superb traditional house with top service . Totally recommend a stay here as an interesting insight into mountain life , open log fire was welcome addition as winter visit meant cold temperatures . lovely hot shower after hike . Excellent meals both breakfast and dinner were filling and tasty. Mint tea whenever needed . This isn't a luxury retreat it's a traditional berber home with traditional hospitality , the beds were firm and comfortable and the private terrace offered amazing views, as such I rate it 10 out of 10

Review 41:Coming to stay in Dar Tighoula was the best choice we made. We Booked for 9 nights as our plan was to train, improve our fitness and fix ourselves. in fact we stayed there longer! This was the perfect location, Set in the mountains you can go hiking in different directions and climb a different mountain each day. The room we had was perfect, a balcony, nice bed and a dining area. we could eat our breakfast and dinner there and go at our own pace. The room was initially cold as its winter but as we arrived we were offered a heater so that was not a problem at all. We had a shower, Hot water, If there was a problem with the water it would be fixed, free wifi Breakfast was really nice, freshly cooked Moroccan flat bread with, plates of butter, jam, olive oil, honey, marmalade, omelette / boiled egg. coffee, mint tea Dinners were really nice, 3 courses soups, main either tagine couscous ( or what ever you ask for :) Followed by fruit or yoghurt, tea hot chocolate all at a very reasonable price!!! The staff in this hotel was incredible so helpful and accommodating, anything you need or require they will help, always about offering tea or drinks, The best part about staying here was feeling as if we belonged there, part of the family. we are going to book our next trip in the summer!!!!!

Review 42:Although we only stayed here for 2 night we wanted to give this lovely read the thumbs up as a great place to stay. It's located in a quiet residential area only a 7 -10 minute walk up the valley from the Taxi station, with amazing views from the roof terrace and also from my room balcony. We were warmly welcomed with mint tea, and shown to a rather lovely spacious room with balcony overlooking the mountains and lots of Cherry and apples trees, Ahmed and his wonderful family will make you feel immediately at home as they welcome you into their family life and show you how an Berbers family live. The food is the best I had in Morocco,

Review 43:Too cheap!

Review 44:Amazing place to stay with stunning views of the Atlas mountains. A short walk up from Imlil which is great as it is so quiet. You are treated like one of the family. I intended to stay 1 night but could not leave as it was ideal for trekking or just chilling. 10/10

Review 45:Some maintainence needs to be done to keep the place looking less run down.

Review 46:The owner of this guest house is extremely helpful and welcoming. He has a good team of people working for him. The location in the village with views of the mountains makes this accommodation very special.Food served was tasty and simple.

Review 47:We have no complaints.

Review 48:We had a great time at this place. There is the wonderful view, the tasty food, the colourful, spacey rooms, but outstanding above all was the hospitality of this lovely family. We felt welcome.

Review 49:Ahmed and his family are really nice, attend to your every need whenever you want. They serve you lots of lovely food at whatever time you would like it as well as giving you good advice on where to visit in your surroundings. Would definitely recommend dar tighoula and visit again myself at some point!

Review 50:I arranged to stay here for 3 nights along with a one night stay at the toubkal refuge. Ahmed took care of everything. My transfer from Marrakech and back, the trek to mount toubkal , including the guide etc. My experience was excellent. I was staying over the festival of eid and was taken to experience the festivities with the local people. The hospitality of Ahmed, his wife and all the other friends and family I met was amazing. The home cooked food is recommended. Everything was good value. Free Tea was provided whenever requested and delicious! Sometimes the shower was a little leaky and the hot water sporadic but this was always sorted very quickly and you are in the mountains after all. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Review 51:Ahmed and his wife were incredibly helpful and friendly. They couldn't seem to do enough for me. They arranged a Sahara desert trip for me at very short notice and arranged taxis at good prices. Ahmed will help you with local routes if you wish to do your own thing, and arrange for guides and mules if you prefer to be guided. A superb place to stay!

Review 52:The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. They were very helpful in arranging our trip back to Marrakesh on our last day. The free breakfast was fantastic and the mint tea delicious. The dinners were the best we had while in Morocco. Also the view of the mountains from the room and terrace was beautiful. It's a very relaxing place to pass a few days and a great base for hiking. I would absolutely recommend it. A great value for the price.

Review 53:- The service was very nice, very kind people (speaking french and english) :) The room and everything are superb, especially considering the price ;) We had a great time here!! X Leon and Ronja

Review 54:Water and light is not working al the time, but when you ask the owner to repair it, he fixes it immediately.

Review 55:Perfect place for walking with guides from the Riad. Very nice people, good food (breakfast and very good Tajine) very nice town on walking distance. For the price it is a perfect place to stay.

Review 56:The manager is really keen to make you feel as comfortable as possible. He and his family put in a lot of effort.

Review 57:Owners were really friendly, they organized us trasport back to Imlil and also guided as how to get to the Toubkal.

Review 58:Great friendly people, helpful and welcoming. Quiet up the mountain and beautiful rooftop terrace. Easy parking.

Review 59:problems with hot water

Review 60:beautiful view, helpful staff, good dinner

Review 61:Lovely views, very clean and incredibly cheap. Ahmed, his wife and staff couldn't do enough for you

Review 62:Best food I had in Morocco! Great owners, speaking english and franch, very nice people...very near to start of a treking to Toubkal

Review 63:Warm, helpful, accommodating family

Review 64:The showers could be a bit unpredictable...

Review 65:The fstuff were amazing . it felt like home.

Review 66:Nothing was too much trouble if one asked....especially the lovely saida....

Review 67:Great people running the place!

Review 68:Our room has the most stunning view! The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Thanks again for a great stay

Review 69:Rooms was little cold. No change to survive whitout sweater.

Review 70:The lack of heating in wintertime.

Review 71:The warm welcome, great good and kind people.

Review 72:Raw experience of the mountain, very hospitable family. Ahmed and his family looked after us well.

Review 73:flee from camels or from beds

Review 74:Dersert trips were beautiful, well organised, good food, good mood The Sahara is simply beautiful

Review 75:Location was close to Imlil village centre, Staff were friendly, Meals were delicious

Review 76:A little bit far from the heart of Imlil

Review 77:excellent breakfast. It's a good option to get dinner in the lodge. You will get a traditional food. Very quiet and peaceful place

Review 78:Hadijah and Ahmed were so friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Their concern for our welfare made us feel like family. When we left each day for our mountain excursions they were careful to ask which way we were going. Imlil is a great place for hiking. Ahmed will drive you back to Marrakesh for the price of a taxi or collect you in the first place. Dar Tighoula is a great place to stay on a low budget option. Meals were good and breakfast and afternoon tea were included in the room tariff. We would be very happy to return.

Review 79:- no parking place (you have to park on the roadside and carry your luggage on a stony path..); - no water in toilet when we arrived.. (had to wait 1.5 hours to fix it - provisionally) - very small and basic toilet/shower with an entrance for 'Hobbits'..

Review 80:- Hospitality and friendly attitude of the staff, as well as their good English; - good breakfasts and Berber tea.

Review 81:Evening meal expensive Tangine every evening with tiny bit of meat Taxi we ordered from owner to Marrakech was expensive. Driver was aggressive threw our packs on pavement refused to drop us at Bus/Train station and tried to over charge

Review 82:Nice location for walking Had nice few days exploring the area

Review 83:Staff was very helpful and very nice. The Food was very good. The place is surrounded by beautiful landscape. We had a nice view on the mountains from our room and from the terrace.

Review 84:the toilets of somme rooms need some improvement though mine was ok.

Review 85:L'alcueil chaleureux. I stayed one night. And Ireally liked it very much. it is a small family run guest house. It overlooks the mountains and a valley, it is a little bit secluded and far from Imlil center, so it is 100 %quiet and calm. the owner makes you feel at home. I liked the breakfast on the terrasse.I definitely will go back there again and for three or more nights.

Review 86:Very nice family taking care of you during your stay. We got cold days and they provided all resources to keep us warm and confortable. Simple facilities, but honest and sufficient for good moments trekking/climbing toubkal.

Review 87:We liked this place a lot, but it's charmingly disorganized. We had to wait for more than half an hour to check in, and all meals were served later than planned. Few amenities, no hot water, no heating in the room (but plenty of blankets!), and we had to ask for toilet paper and towels - but it is in the mountains, after all. As long as you take this into account, you'll be happy with this place.

Review 88:Excellent people running this place, made for a great stay! Thanks to Ahmid for guiding us on our trek, such a beautiful landscape. Charming room, big, with a terrace, and access to roof terrace. Really good, home-made food.

Review 89:The whole place was a construction site, which was no problem, since our room was nice (and they´ll probably soon be finished with the construction). However, our toilet was dirty beyond usability (looked like all the building workers used it and they had forgotten to clean it before we came).

Review 90:The staff was friendly and helpful and we had a nice balcony from our room and the food was good. Definitly good value for that price!

Review 91:There was significant building work going on while we were there and should not really have accepted the booking. Consequently the building and our rooms were dirty and getting around involved climbing over scaffolding. Should be lovely when it's finished.

Review 92:The family were very welcoming and kind. The food was traditional Berber with excellent breakfasts. Very generous portions. Given the cost of the rooms the standard was reasonable.

Review 93:Excellent place to stay. Cannot recommend this place enough. Great value for money lovely suroundings and very warm and friendly owners and great food.

Review 94:Its very cold i february, bring winterclothes, and be prepared also to sleep in very warm clothes, to keep warm. Its almost frost in night-time, and not very good heating. In May it will be wonderfull, and the terrasse has a beautyfull vue at the Mountains!

Review 95:Living close to nice and hospital family, with good food at help to plan trekking or transport. And you feel very welcome with children.

Review 96:We enjoyed a lot the staff and the location of the house. Breakfast and dinners are very nice and they are all very polite. We stayed there in winter and we had chimeny in the room which was very comfortable because temperature inside was very nice.

Review 97:It was very cold (early January) and the room we stayed at was not heated so at night it did get quite cold, but they gave us more blankets which helped some.

Review 98:I loved the food we ate at Dar Tighoula andl\ really liked he fact that breakfast and dinner are served in one big table for all the hosts in the guesthouse. It gave it a homely feeling that i really appreciated. The view from the rooftop is really nice and it was overall a great spot to relax and explore he beautiful mountains around it. The staff were very helpful to us.

Review 99:We missed the basics, warm water, working toilet, heater, all we had was an open stove but we had to ask for wood every two hours.

Review 100:We loved our hosts, the place, the atmosphere

Review 101:the people who run Dar Thigoula are very friendly. For the price per night one can not expect more than basic. My daughters were very well looked after, although the place is very basic. The area is stunning.

Review 102:Impossible to get warm (December). Limited hot water. High pressure sales talk from guide who we incorrectly thought was the man of the house.

Review 103:A healthy 10 minute walk up the road from Imlil. Excellent meals (possibly a little expensive) Lovely lady preparing them. Friendly house cat. Large rooms, but COLD.

Review 104:Was overbooked. We became another stay, it was very Cold, overthere, there was no. heating. No. hot water.

Review 105:It was overbooked and we became another stay, more luxery for THE same price. You can make wunderful trips by mule. Terrific view. Nice guides, Nice owner.

Review 106:It was cold at night in the hostel.

Review 107:Very friendly & hospitable hostel. The food was good & the views over the valley from the roof terrace were excellent. Great camaraderie with the other trekkers.

Review 108:kambarys, kuriame nakvojome, buvo remonto stadijoje. Buvo šalta, langai neužsidarė. Naktį dingo elektra, taip pat nebuvo šilto vandens.

Review 109:Hotel in the mountains
