Reviews for Dar Imlil
Review 1:The hospitality of the staff was second to none, nothing was too much trouble for them. My room was very spacious, clean and extremely comfortable....with a view to die for!! Breakfast was plentiful and something different every day. Evening meals by candlelight were lovely and cosy by the large wood burner. The meatball dish was a particular favourite ! Stargazing from the roof terrace became a nightly ritual. This really is a little gem...I can't wait to return.
Review 2:We visited the place in December, and in the evenings Imlil was quite "dead" with few restaurants open and almost no people outdoor. Daytime was great, though, with excellent hiking possibilities in comfortable temperature and very inviting locals.
Review 3:The room (suite) was fantastic - spacious, with a seating area in addition to the beds, nicely decorated, floor heating, well-equipped, and with view to Toubkal. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Review 4:Communal area reminded me slightly of a walkers hostel, a little dark and tatty.
Review 5:Views from our room, we could see the peak of toubkal. Heated floor in the room. Dinner was plentiful and tasty
Review 6:We loved Dar Imlil. Was so nice to escape Marrakech for a bit. The staff was great and set up a great trek for us the day after we arrived and were super accommodating about everything. It was so hot so it was really nice for our kids to have a pool. I think it was the only place in Imlil with a pool.
Review 7:Nothing.
Review 8:Amazing service. Our guide for the Toubkal trek was coordinated for us, our bags were carried for us from car to room, and room to car, and when we were too sore after hiking to eat dinner in the normal area it was brought to our room. Excellent all around experience!
Review 9:We would recommend spending a day of rest before walking in the mountains as it is all at high altitude.
Review 10:Dar Imlil is owned by the English owners of Kasba du Toubkal (Richard Branson eat your heart out) The situation is amazing as is the comfort and service. A small percentage goes to educating the Berber girls from the mountain villages. Educate the women and you educate the world.
Review 11:The breakfast wasn't great. Dinner was tasty but unfort made us a little sick. :(
Review 12:Our secluded top floor suite with massive bathroom and amazing views!!!
Review 13:Honey bees in the tree outside, but we were relocated without fuss to a lower down room, still with views of the mountain, valley and stream.
Review 14:Views and stream side location, hospitality of the staff, dinner, log fire, hotel correspondence prior to arrival
Review 15:Wifi could have been better!
Review 16:The location was great and the staff friendly and helpful. Dar Imlil was rustic and had a lot of charm. The food was great and good value too!
Review 17:A great little hotel- good location in the middle of town with fantastic views of the mountain. We ate in as there were not a great choice of restaurants open and it was too cold to go out side and wander around- the food was delicious with plenty of it- all a surprise as there was no menu to order off. Would thoroughly recommend Dar Imlil as long as you are looking for genuine Marroccean hospitality and not a 5 star hotel.
Review 18:The food was indifferent and, for the price, should be improved by providing high quality Moroccan dinner and breakfast.
Review 19:Warm welcome, comfortable bedroom, fine position for views and walks, warm fire in the lounge area.
Review 20:Food was OK - not great but OK. Due to it being winter there was a limited number of options to eat out, but that was just the time of year.
Review 21:Setting, room, village
Review 22:I am sure there are modern hotels that have all kinds of technology in the rooms, that other people will say are better then this hotel, but the reality is this is a traditional Moroccan hotel in an amazing location that the staff make really special. After spending time in Marrakech and Ait Ben Haddou, this is an amazing contrast. You do not get hassled, you are treated like gods and the location takes your breath away. Our rooms were huge, had comfy and warm beds, with great views. The food is better than any other meal we ate in Morocco (we went to some 5* places). It is a set menu, but they can accommodate dietary requirements and offer this each time. They organised a car at the airport and the driver was brilliant. My Mum is not good with heights, so he drove at a good speed and proved what an amazing driver he really is (the roads are missing in places!) All in all, this is an amazing hotel and I would happily tell friends, family and complete strangers to stay here!
Review 23:The common areas are, as usually in Morocco, pretty cold in winter time, but during the dinner the fireplace was on.
Review 24:The location is stunning as well as the view we had from our beautiful room. The room has under floor heating and a balcony facing the mountains. We really enjoyed the hiking with Rashid, a local guide.
Review 25:If you're expecting a Hotel then don't stay here as this is like a home. And the journey getting there is quite windy and long.
Review 26:The views are amazing from this Riad. It is a homely place with friendly staff in a traditional village. You realise you're in a real Moroccan situation The food was really good too and we had a lot of fun! Ideal for hikers
Review 27:Everything in room and hotel old or 'rustic' but not comfortable. Curtains had holes in them and stains. Running the gauntlet in the village.
Review 28:Some good views, especially at night with the full moon. Small pool for cooling off.
Review 29:It's location, but the best part is the service, Hassan and the rest of his colleagues played the best part to make the place exclusive to every guest!! Amazing !
Review 30:Only negative was the WiFi would cut in and out, and wasn't available in our room.
Review 31:The staff were great! There was always someone around to answer any questions and assist when needed. They organised a great guide for us for a two day hiking trip to Jebel Toubkal, and put together a fantastic packed lunch. One of us has very specific food requirements because of a number of allergies. The hotel's kitchen made special request meals twice for us that were perfect. And the breakfasts were great - very tasty and lots of variety. In the mornings we'd come down to the nice quiet dining area and minutes later the coffee and bread and crepes would appear.
Review 32:I love being guided by Rachid and then coming home to a hot bath, tea and lovely view of Toubkhal.
Review 33:Staff were very accommodating and helpful.
Review 34:No alcohol (Bring your own)
Review 35:Quiet, relaxed place to stay. Ideal start for exploring the High Atlas, trekking.
Review 36:Staff could be more outgoing and conversant.
Review 37:Fantastic views
Review 38:Wifi signal is not that good from the room.
Review 39:Everythjng
Review 40:Nothing
Review 41:The mountain views. The free upgrade as the hotel was quiet. Very helpful Hassan.
Review 42:Location and views.
Review 43:Percolator had leftover stinky milk in it.
Review 44:Wonderful staff, great food, great rooms and lovely place.
Review 45:nothing
Review 46:location, mountain view, helpful staff, tasty dinner,
Review 47:Lovely room with great views from the balcony. Excellent meals. Friendly staff.
Review 48:Imlil a bit of a culture shock to begin with but we soon embraced all including the butcher shop with meat and animals head hanging outside!
Review 49:The mule trek to berber village through the mountains and the hike with guide to adjacent berber villages. We particularly liked the locals on their mules through the village daily.
Review 50:Good base for walks and discovering the Atlas mountains. Nice views from the room. The ground floor rooms are basic but nice and comfortable. Dinner was lovely and staff helpful and friendly
Review 51:We booked a superior room but were disappointed for the price. The room was very basic and we soon discovered our sheets hadn't been changed or floors cleaned. The only toiletries provided was shampoo and this remained empty throughout our stay. For the price we would have expected the wow factor which we didn't get. Outside our room there were a huge amount of wasps which meant we couldn't sit out and nobody seemed too bothered to deal with them. The service was abrupt at times and we felt we had to ask for everything rather than the manager check if we needed anything. Overall an average place to stay that is overpriced.
Review 52:The location of this riad is excellent and the quality of food was really good, especially the evening meal. The organisation of the taxi and the trek was good too.
Review 53:Waking up to the sound of the mountain stream, with the sub glistening off the snow-capped summit of the highest mountain in Africa. And with all the comforts you would expect of a five-star hotel....
Review 54:We were upgraded to a better room on the top floor for the same price. The room was very nice and warm (compared to most rooms we stayed in Maroc). The tajin for dinner was just great and breakfast too. The people in the hotel were very friendly
Review 55:I think the only thing I would say is from the road it is difficult to recognise the hotel from the pictures provided.
Review 56:We loved our stay at Dar Imlil it is a rustic hotel perfect for trekking in the Atlas Mountains. The staff were friendly and gentle they made us so welcome with a mint tea on our arrival and always happy to help in any way they could. When shown to our room it was lovely and spacious with underfloor heating which made it so warm and cosy as we visited in February. There was also a beautiful big bath and lots of hot water which was perfect after a day walking in the mountains. The evening meal was wholesome Moroccan home cooking. Dinner was served by the fire and the space was so sociable we met two other couples which added to our whole experience. I cannot really fault this hotel no it is not five star luxury but when you come in exhausted from a days walking it provides everything you could possibly want.
Review 57:Very good starting point if you want to explore the mountains. It´s a tipical mountain hotel but really comfortable and very well equiped. The staff is nice and helpful and the breakfast it´s great!
Review 58:View from the room was incredible, we stayed in the standard double. The evening meal was worth every penny, so tasty, with 3 generous courses.
Review 59:reaching the village via the winding mountain road is not for the faint-hearted!
Review 60:The mountain location is truly inspiring and the local village folk so welcoming. Genuinely an amazing and positive experience.
Review 61:Big spacious room comfortably furnished & big tub! Fantastic views of Mount Toubkal & surrounding valleys & villages Friendly staff, happy to help arranging trekking etc. Local food - nothing fancy but wholesome & fresh.
Review 62:Simply fantastic place.I traveled here with my son and another friend. We were very warmly received, and every possible detail was taken care of. Excellent food in the evening by the fireplace, and Abu arranged a wonderful excursion with mules into the mountains for my son and I. Fantastic views from the roof terrace!
Review 63:Not designed for cold weather - but no Moroccan houses are! You'll need to use the blankets in winter.
Review 64:A very authentic Moroccan hotel, great architecture and room design, spacious, nice terraces, polite and efficient staff. Excellent food, good atmostphere
Review 65:Was an absolutely great experience. We got upgraded and got certainly top value for money. Also liked the collaboration with he Kasbah and its Eco and community work.
Review 66:Great position, parking outside hotel for 20 Dh/day, superb view from roof terrace, good food in generous portions (although more expensive than local restaurants), large room, very helpful staff.
Review 67:the duble econmy room is on the third foor, you realy have to go up a long way. the rooom is not nice no door to the bathroom.
Review 68:it is a very nice hotel but the duble econmy room is not as the same rooms be aware!!
Review 69:The bathroom has no ventilation to outside, instead it's open from the top of the wall to the room, so it has no privacy.
Review 70:Nice dinner, and there is close nearby car parking.
Review 71:Its not easy easy to get to but that's part of the attraction. Wedrove a hire car up a windy mountain road rather than be at the whim ofa local taxi. The village of Imlil is a bit rough and ready as mountainvillages can be but safe.
Review 72:The room was sumptious compared with most Riads/Dars in Morocco andthe bathroom was really good. We were made to feel very welcome andbreakfast was huge. The service was very friendly. English is spokenvery well by the receptionist. The views are stunning too. In summer theterraces would be spectacular. Treks are easy to arrange from here.
Review 73:I would have liked a proper shower over the bath. Maybe other bedroomshad them. Imlil itself is not particularly attractive and there are nofacilities in the village - everything we needed was at Dar Imlil. InJanuary the countryside is drab. Much better to visit the mountains inthe spring when the flowers and blossom is out.
Review 74:Having just stayed in an extremely comfortable and stylish riad inMarrakech, this was in a different league, but then so was the price. This is basically a comfortable large village house decorated andfurnished in the local style. The staff are very helpful. The in-houseset dinner tasty and huge, eaten by a roaring wood burner. Breakfastexcellent. There were a few thoughtful touches around, E.G. books andgames. Our bedroom was huge with excellent underfloor heating (we werethere in January.) Overall good value.
Review 75:I like the friendly atmosphere - great attention to details and service, I always feel at home at Dar Imlil. That is my kind of luxury. The scenery, of course, is stunning.
Review 76:The staff were very friendly and helpful, decor was authentic andclassy, food was delicious, just loved everything about this Riad. If Ihad gone there first, I would not have left....thank you...:-)
Review 77:Amazing view from room
Review 78:The staff could not be more helpful in looking after us and arranging guides and Mules to help us explore the mountains and nearby Berber villages.
Review 79:Beautiful setting and such a relaxing place to stay. The room we were in (no 9) was lovely with a stunning view of the snow covered mountains.

Review 84:The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. It is in an amazing location. Very good food.
Review 85:Staff were great, friendly and helpful. Had a great time exploring the area. Upgraded to a lovely room with underfloor heating, really happy.
