Reviews for Astral Tower and Residences at The Star

Review 1:Nothing!

Review 2:The Star was amazing - firstly the breakfast, what a choice and it didn;t out face you - there were bacon and eggs, fried rice, pork chops, then all the different breads, juices, chocolate fountains, sweets, ice-cream - you name it they had it. The staff were very helpful all in all a great experience

Review 3:I was extremely extremely disappointed that at $750 per night for 2 bedroom apartment the second bedroom only had a double bed. Ridiculous. there was plenty of room for a queen. Even the pillows supplied were lovely and big but overhung the edge of the bedroom. Not just our room but our friends room also. Staff were not able to explain why ??? I loved everything else about the apartment but would not recommend until this was corrected.

Review 4:Love the position. The apartment had good view of harbour bridge. Enjoyed the pool area.

Review 5:2 bedroom apartment definitely met our standards but you could tell it hadn't had an upgrade for a while. All clean and in perfect working but getting tired. Upgrades happening around the place, so maybe on the list. Noise didn't affect us at all.

Review 6:Loved the outdoor heated pools. Large one perfect for doing laps, the smaller warmer spa/pool fantastic on a coolish day. Able to get Guest pass for pool area despite checking out. Complimentary water and apples at the pool/gym. Balcony view from 2brm city view Level 10 fantastic. Was able to push 2nd bed against the wall so my child didn't fall out. Assess to Star City facilities/restaurants perfect and Light rail proximity make public transport easy Closeness to Darling Harbour.

Review 7:couldn't book the garden buffet for dinner and the line was too long . as guest we should be able to book dinner

Review 8:The area i stayed and view and hotel cleaness

Review 9:The bed in the second bedroom of our two bedroom apartment was tiny, not in any way suitable for two adults. A queen bed would have been more appropriate - the room and the alcove built for the bed could have more than accommodated a larger bed. It felt like this was a 'trying to cut costs decision'.

Review 10:The facilities in the casino/apartments were really enjoyable. Great venue for a family gathering.

Review 11:When making my booking I booked for a twin share and non smoking room , but when I checked in I had been booked in for a King bed and smoking. Took some time to rectify the mistake also the breakfast wasn't as nice as last time and was dearer but other than this it was a pleasant stay This was my second stay at the Star and I will be back again

Review 12:Convenience to Entertainment Center and Lite Rail. Excellent Price for room.

Review 13:TV didn't work. Called me to get out at 11 when I had booked a late checkout.

Review 14:Very Friendly and accomodating staff. Excellent location at the casino.

Review 15:What I didn't like was a tap on the basin that had to be turned off precisely or it dribbled. I believe the rooms are being updated, our's had a cracked granite counter top.I only mention this because another guest may be less forgiving.

Review 16:The staff were very friendly and attentive, especially the pool staff. We did enjoy our stay here.

Review 17:Room service fruit platter disgusting Bathroom/ bath mouldy Buffet overpriced and waited forever for a table

Review 18:Location and view Staff great in reception / pool

Review 19:Had to book an additional nights accommodation at the hotel on my iPad on the Internet standing at reception who were advising me the hotel was full!!

Review 20:Large comfortable rooms and location

Review 21:Wasn't welcomed by girl who checked me in - seemed quite disinterested unlike the staff next door at The Darling (a world of difference). Would've been nice to have just 1 free bottle of water.

Review 22:Room seemed to be quite clean. Very generous room and bathroom size! Really good bed.

Review 23:Great night, bed very comfortable, well off the ground, great views, friendly and helpful staff, upgraded to an excellent room, close to facilities, cheaper overnight car parking.

Review 24:Old menu in the room and no information on what facilities and services were available.

Review 25:Great having a balcony and the view was spectacular. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The facilities were very clean.

Review 26:Location has easy access by light rail. Upgrade provided a spacious apartment meeting our "quiet room-smoke free" criterion. Bed and facilities very satisfactory! No complaints whatsoever with this booking.

Review 27:The room phones were not working. Someone was going to come to have a look but they never turned up! It was inconvenient because we were needing to keep in touch with our families who were also staying at the Astral.

Review 28:Went in a wrong door and got lost - ended up on the wrong side and had to go around the block to get back in (couldn't take the children though the casino)

Review 29:The pool was amazing and coffee whilst I watched the kids splash just made my day!

Review 30:It was too hot with the only choice of top cover being the duvet and a top sheet would have been good to use instead on hot nights. Bedside lamps on each side of the bed would also have been appreciated instead of just a bright overhead light in the bedroom.

Review 31:Clean, lovely view out over the city

Review 32:The fact that it is located in the casino means that you seem to encounter a lot of guests, most of who are quite rude.

Review 33:Amazingly helpful staff, I was travelling with my husband, who was injured and they couldn't do enough to help us. Good location for what we needed.

Review 34:Best experience ever at the Star. Thank you to the wonderful front desk staff for upgrading me to the split level royal suit on the 15th floor. A very memorable wedding anniversary, thank you.

Review 35:Not a thing

Review 36:We have stayed at the Star many times and always happy with the staff the rooms are spacious and clean, the bed comfortable , the bathroom was clean, with good quality products,. They have a few restaurants to choose from or if you want to go into the city there is public transport just outside the hotel

Review 37:not keen on room it was the star suite , stayed in a lot better , room service food was below par not had many meals worse , expected better .

Review 38:good location

Review 39:N/A

Review 40:The service was great. Staff were helpfull and assisted us with any questions we had. The most liked was the Free upgrade to the Penthouse suite!! Amazing!! Thank you it was a nice suprise on my daughters 18th as she turned 18 that very night we stayed.

Review 41:My daughter and I wanted to go to Fat Noddle for a pre-show dinner. She is a month of 18yrs and as most of the restaurants are on Casino level we couldn't eat at those and Fat Noodle didn't advertise 18+ only. Apart from the buffet our only choice of dining was downstairs in the food court area.

Review 42:It was very well situated, the room a good size and close to the light rail and lyric theatre.

Review 43:We were on level 8, most of the view was blocked out by hotel outside equipment, if standing on tippy toes, could just see some water and harbour bridge from dining room in suite.

Review 44:The location was easy to get to and from the city. We were upgraded to a suite which was just fabulous. Excellent buffet breakfast which was included with the room.

Review 45:Apartment smelt of cigarette smoke and was shabby and tired. My husband and I both badly bruised our shins by walking into the protruding hidden timber frame around the king bed. I am still limping, this needs to be rectified as it is an OH and S issue. Beds are dreadful.

Review 46:Staff were fantastic. Balcony and view great. Love the casino. Pool and spa divine! Clean and tidy. Spacious bathrooms.

Review 47:We had requested a room with 2 beds but at check in we were told the room had a king size bed. When we queried this we were then offered a complimentary upgrade to a suite and a late check out. On seeing the suite we were amazed it was like something you only see in magazines. This total made our day and if returning to Sydney this will be our preferred hotel due to the excellent customer service and care.

Review 48:Bed was uncomfortable. Ran out of tissues in bathroom first morning of our stay. Also had to ask for a hand towel that same morning as the two initially in bathroom were not replaced when serviced.

Review 49:Room was clean and a good size.

Review 50:The staff were pleasant and the facilities were impeccably clean. The view from the suite was amazing. My boyfriend and I immensely enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.

Review 51:Check in experience. Had requested two double beds which were not available and had to have a roll away bunk. Additionally staff were patronizing

Review 52:Kids liked the breakfast

Review 53:Felt the room. In particular the bathroom was a bit out of date. The tap handle kept falling off an a fair bit of mould in the silicon around the bath.

Review 54:Great view and comfy beds. Garden Buffet was good for lunch and breakfast.

Review 55:the room was showing a little wear and tear, didnt affect my stay at all but I was glad I had a special deal. If I was paying full price, I wouldnt expect to see that

Review 56:the staff are always exceptionally friendly and make me feel at home and special :)

Review 57:We had a free upgrade from the cheapest room to a suite! It was amazing! View of the harbour bridge and over the casino grounds. Huge complex, loved walking round all dressed up! We went to watch the world cup rugby, and the atmosphere in the sports bar was excellent! Would definitely sty again!

Review 58:Stark,uniteresting,no books no decorative items, e.g pillows, ornaments, pictures brochures, dead color scheme. Lack of utensils in kitchen no teapot .barest of items.not 4 star more 3 star. Fridge smelt of fish.

Review 59:Bed. Bathroom

Review 60:The car park was a bit off a headache trying to find my car and the exit was not clearly marked with signs took about ten minutes to find but apart from that had a good time

Review 61:Had the best experience would definitely stay there again

Review 62:Not knowing whether it was a renovated room I suppose is a didn't like, but it was perfectly nice, just dated decor. Accommodation was comfortable. I am unsure as to whether we were in a renovated room or not though & having booked a "high level" room, we were on 9 which was literally the first floor to have a view!! We were asked if waddle waddle wanted a paper to which we said yes, but it didn't happen.

Review 63:Accommodation was comfortable. I am unsure as to whether we were in a renovated room or not though & having booked a "high level" room. Great bottled water & lovely welcome chocolates.

Review 64:Our stay was perfect, our room with a beautiful view of the harbour & facilities were excellent, the staff were always helpful & nice and the location is obviously ideal. Perfect in our opinion

Review 65:The Room decor is outdated. Lighting in the room not well positioned in certain areas. Wifi is lagging/Slow. No Complimentary Bottled water available for guests in the room. Ordered Room service. The staff seems unsure of her role. Just pushed the trolley in. Did not inform that the food was stored inside the trolley cabinet, or help set up the table. Upon arrival between 3-4pm, Not one bellboy was around to help with the luggage. Not value for money. For the price, one can find a better, newer Establishment. The foodcourt inside The Star Casino - very bad system. Signage is poor, especially for 1st timers. Food is expensive and Salty.

Review 66:Convenient location with eateries and nearby grocery store - COLES The Reception offered an option to upgrade. Standard room size area is spacious.

Review 67:The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. We were upgraded for free to a room with a better view. On the ground floor there were a lot of restaurants, which was very convenient at night. It was very close to Darling harbor as well.

Review 68:The tea bags were fine, but the Coffee in the room? NESCAFE????? This is an expensive hotel, and in your room they have NESCAFE? ugh ugh ugh Instant freeze dried Moccona is the only acceptable option really. Because as I said, the tea bags were absolutely lovely tea, just as well I drink both.

Review 69:Fantastic to stay there and just have a short walk back to our room from seeing a show at the Lyric theatre.

Review 70:I think it is starting to look a bit worn and feels a bit old. The room decor was average and brown Overpriced packet of coconut roughs .

Review 71:The staff were friendly and helpful. Being able to park at hotel was very convenient.

Review 72:Booked harbour view room for expensive price and requested higher level but given level 8 where the view is blocked by barricade for swimming pool! Very dissapointed!!!

Review 73:Handy location and lots of activities

Review 74:Traffic on a Thursday night trying to get to the other side of the city and there was a bit of a wait for taxis

Review 75:Good location if using the Star facilities

Review 76:Ordered extra drinks in minibar and didn't drink And was told to purchase it's the point that I payed good money and and on leaving Charged twice for parking This is just poor no one has told me anything makes me feel ripped off its not good business If you feel this way

Review 77:I ordered a massage through concierge And all she kept wanting was more time And the total came out $80 over what I was told when questioned they highlighted line item Not total signed for

Review 78:Breakfast - $120 dollars it took over 45mins and we did not get everything we ordered and by the time it all did arrive we had to check out and pay for good we could not eat

Review 79:Location / close to casino and no need to leave area

Review 80:The Bed was uncomfortable, The pillows were uncomfortable & the bathroom shower was broken and the taps wouldn't stop running. The room appeared old.

Review 81:Location, Free Room Upgrade to Two Room Apartment.

Review 82:Perfect location. Walking distance to darling harbor. Close to a mall cafes, restaurants and bars. Also, in the hotel you have star casino. The biggest in Sydney.

Review 83:No complimentary drinks, even water.

Review 84:Excellent rooms with great harbour view. Extremely big but ain't sure if it's only the upgraded room which was given. Worth spending a little more to stay here especially if u are into casinos.

Review 85:Way to busy in every section -major link point for casino and theatre guests. Check in/out lines very long! Rooms very basic non inviting, bed was really hard .., it's the view you payed the $$ for! Buffet breakfast was drab n no bacon for 30 min Hustle n bustle of casino guests etc was too much! Not a honey moon or family destination!

Review 86:Location was great .. Even for a local'

Review 87:Shower pressure wasn't very strong We also stayed in a 2-bed apart for the following 2 days and felt the bed in the 2nd was far too small especially when you have 2 adults staying in the room. Need at least queen sizes.

Review 88:The amazing view of the city Very clean tidy room Comfy bed Free wifi

Review 89:There was no balcony so we had to actually smoke inside the room. We requested one large bed but were given two twin beds instead. minibar prices were ridiculous.

Review 90:Very nice room, staff were professional and friendly.

Review 91:Although room are clean & tidy they need an up-date as looking a bit tired and dated.

Review 92:Got a city view room - so glad I choose it and paid little bit extra

Review 93:Was upgraded to a suite In the residences. These suites are tired and need an overhaul. They are large, good views but I would say they are more like 3.5 stars than 4 or 5.

Review 94:That we booked a non smoking room and harbour view, there wasn't any non smoking rooms left and didnt get a harbour view. Room smelt disgusting when walked in.

Review 95:Bathroom and room size.

Review 96:I would have liked information in the room regarding restaurants and maps of the area and ferry timetables.

Review 97:The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very clean.

Review 98:Nothing

Review 99:City views Bath tub King size bed Staff accomodated us after telling us our room was 2 x double beds (and not 1 king) and that the request was only subject to availability

Review 100:The staff were efficient but lacked personality and were condescending The bed was very hard and uncomfortable and the bathroom had mould on the ceiling I expected more from this establishment

Review 101:The location and the show that we went to see

Review 102:I did request a room at a higher level and thought this request could have been fulfilled as I made the reservation several months ago. I was on the 8th level and my city view was somewhat obscured even though I paid top price.

Review 103:I love the pillow menu.

Review 104:It would be nice if the hotel name or even a number on the street wouldbe visible. There is no way that you can find this hotel by number orname but to do like I did and to park the car an have to investigatewhere this place was !! This took quite a while not to mention that theassistance at the desk was very vague in where to park the car and therewas no signage to assist.

Review 105:The location with all you need within walking distance

Review 106:Seriously overpriced. Practically $300 for a bed and shower. The roomwas nice but not great. There's never enough power points. I thinkfor $300 you could have a coffee maker in your room and not just sachetsof instant and a tiny little uht milk: we're not still in the 70s.

Review 107:I stayed there because my conference was in the 'same building.'It was convenient in that respect.

Review 108:Everything in hot area of breakfast was luke warm at best. There were 4 urns for boiling water. The 1st one was cold, the 2nd one again luke warm at best. Also only one chef at breakfast (for omelettes etc) was really busy.

Review 109:Loved the facilities, accom was fine. Food choices excellent.

Review 110:Missing finishing touches to furnishings of the room such as lack of bedside lamps. Ceiling lights only make bedside lamps essential. Apartment set up with good size kitchen and dining table with four chairs yet only crockery, glassware and cutlery for two. Rooms very remote from reception and only two lifts which are shared with the commercial floors and the general public making service very slow at times.

Review 111:Larger space of one bedroom apartment

Review 112:A little tired - but it is undergoing renovations so I am sure it will be great when finished

Review 113:Great location with large room. . Very quiet & comfortable!

Review 114:Booked for 1 king bed. Had to change rooms, and phone receptionist once we saw two double beds when we booked this occasion for our anniversary.

Review 115:The receptionists were more then happy to help. Great customer service.

Review 116:Substandard toiletries. Poor configuration of 2nd room for family. Apartment was quite dark. Shower poor. Seems overpriced when compared to Quay Suites or Meriton (doesn't feel luxury with current fitout)

Review 117:Good location. Good size rooms. Comfortable bed. Good laundry/kitchen facilities. GREAT POOL/SPA/SAUNA. Spa at the Darling excellent.

Review 118:The bed was particularly hard. I stay in hotels frequently for work and this had to be one of the hardest beds I've slept in. It is only surpassed by a hotel in Japan that had futon mats instead of beds.

Review 119:The hotel is in a great location. Far enough away from the buzz of the city to relax, but close enough to easily jump into the hustle and bustle of the CBD at a moment's notice.

Review 120:Customer service needs improving. They need to be trained to helpcustomers on the spot without sending them around the world to getsomething done.System needs ALOT of improving, it needs to be streamlined to make it easier for hotel & casino patrons. If they are not willing to do extra for customers who booked through a third party like booking.com, they shouldnt have this allowed in their hotel. And just have booking directly to them as the one and only option.

Review 121:Location.. If it wasnt where it is, I wouldnt book again. Its close todarling harbour and alot of restaurants.

Review 122:Can't think of anything!

Review 123:We Tay here frequently, we have 2 little Kids and we like the convenience to darling harbour and the rooms are really family friendly. (Baths etc) This time we were kid free and lived it up. The room was great the view lovely, and the location meant we had a fantastic dinner at Balla, without having a huge walk anywhere. Will stay again

Review 124:I liked everything about my stay.

Review 125:The staff at reception on checking on we're great. I had nothing but positive interaction with very professional staff. I had a small issue which was attended to promptly and resolved.

Review 126:did not like having to walk all the way thru the casino for breakfast.

Review 127:room was clean and comfortable. staff were excellent. would have liked a bit more variety in the mini bar

Review 128:my car was locked in an underground carpark overnight no clean clothes disaster but at least i could clean my teeth with complementary tooth brush supplied

Review 129:I booked a king size bed and got two double beds that were small and not very comfortable :-( Will make sure I ask when I check in.

Review 130:Great bathrooms, comfy pillows, lots of restaurants to choose from and excellent service.

Review 131:Leaking tap in the shower

Review 132:Great location, friendly staff, food and transportation very accessible. Free upgrade was unexpected but greatly appreciated!

Review 133:No bad experience, but at that price breakfast included would be nice

Review 134:Getting away from the casino crowd in our very well appointed and comfortable room

Review 135:Had dinner in the food court, everyone enjoyed their food except those who ate from Pop Up Thai. The two of us that ordered the prawn green curry agreed it was the worst we had ever been served. Apart from the fact it was not as described. It was suppose to have egg plant in it, but there was none. We could not eat it.

Review 136:The accommodation wash very good and as pictured and described

Review 137:As a young couple we enjoyed that we could stay in a 5 star hotel above the casino, after a wonderful included with beverages and time in the casino itself. We had the relaxing night we hoped for with a king size room, good size bath and amazing view of the entire harbour.. from our bed!!
